Have to be honest here. I’ve had no bad experiences personally, but I have witnessed several every time I set foot in this post office. People getting turned away for things that could’ve been done in one take had they gone to a different location, almost genuine intimidation tactics from some of the employees; heck me and my partner wait around if we think we’re gonna get one of the older ladies for our service - we’re human!! Especially since we’re both new to a lot of the business things at the moment, all we want is service that’s just a tiny bit reassuring. We specifically avoid those who are ‘grumpy today…’ (every day) as we can’t be learning this stuff to improve for next time if you’re just getting chastised left right and centre from someone who at a different establishment probably wouldn’t have a job to their name anymore… There’s a younger bloke there who seems new; he is AWESOME. Also a younger woman who did extremely well. I speak highly of the older guy who sings on his shift; I recognise the people who have seemed to have had worse experiences. If you have the choice, go elsewhere. Not to mention the stock issues?? Ripponlea is good for people who need simple things; small shop not much staff BUT very homey vibes and a lovely guy at the front/all over the pharmacy.
The delivery service provided by Australia Post is really poor. On several occasions the delivery person did not ring bell or even attempt delivery. They put the delivery card in the letterbox which instructs me to go to the local post office. On some occasions they ring the door bell but don’t wait and put the card in the letterbox. Out of 10 deliveries, only one is delivered. Then I need to go to the post office to pick up and stand in a queue. Today I didn’t have ID, so yet another trip to the post office is required. Question? Why do businesses use Australia Post for deliveries - which take days and sometimes weeks - and why are customers being charged a fee for delivery when they are required to pick up the parcel from the post office? I will not buy online from businesses that use Australia Post again! This contrasts with deliveries from courier companies that deliver in 24-48 hours and provide online permissions for the parcel to be left at the premises if no one is home. A significantly better service!!
Poor customer service at this particular post office. The old ladies that work here are very rude and unpleasant to be served by. I went in on my break from work today (only time during there opening hours i can come in.) to pick up my parcel that didn't get left in a safe place. Unfortunately I didn't have my ID on me today but could provide other forms of identification like auspost emails, texts, bank statement, photo of ID etc!! Apparently none of this is enough to prove it was me. The ladies insisted I have all that I showed them printed off to then show them again but on paper? seems a little ridiculous when it was clearly me and in this modern day technology who isn't showing records of information via mobile phone? all in all very disappointing from the the staff at Elsternwick aus post. 0/5 stars please :)
I see someone praised Nury here earlier, unfortunately my experience is not the same. There is a display of clearance items in between 2 counters and I wanted to have a look closely to them as Nury was serving a customer at one of the counters. It’s impossible to maintain 1.5 meters distance so I turned my back to the customer and stayed as far as possible. As Nury serving the customer she asked me to watch 1.5 meters distance (which was really professional of her) and I stayed a little bit more distant as much as I could (maybe 2 more cm’s away). When I was purchasing she said I didn’t watch the social distancing (in front of everyone - again!) I said I did. It was quite disturbing and annoying to be called off in front of others.
I had a pretty unpleasant experience here this afternoon, notably with the short middle aged man. I have been using eParcel for my business for the past 8 years and never had any issues with parcel drop offs. The man insisted that I wait while he checks the cost of the postage on my parcels, which is a waste of his and my time. There are procedures in place to detect underpaid parcels via the eParcel through the sorting process. I proceeded to leave because there was literally no reason for me to wait and he yelled out to me as I was leaving like I was a criminal. I didn't do anything wrong, I dropped off my parcels, which I've paid for. If ive made a mistake Australia Post will let me know, thanks mate.
the Gentleman in the glasses that works the front counter is quite possibly the worst employee ive ever encountered. every time i go into that post office i or someone else is having a obscure or negative experience with him. today i went in to ask about parcel collect and wanted to set it up with him. he told me i wasnt allowed as the post office doesnt have room for parcels, i then logged on to the aus post app and set up a parcel collect for that post office. the guy never wants to solve problems only ever create them. ive seen him turn away and tell customers that he cant do tasks for them so many times now. if it was my business, id give him the flick the dudes a complete wet towel.
I wish I could just laugh off the bunch of bad experiences I’ve had at this post office, but the customer service here is so bad and the staff are on some sort of power trip. Nury rejected my passport paperwork and I felt like a school kid being told off. This same paperwork was accepted at another post office. I have often not been able to collect my parcels due to the exuberant amount of ID required. I’ve been coming to this post office for years (its right near my house) and they are rude every time, so I’m done. The staff at the Hawthorn rd post office are lovely. It’s a few kms away but I’d rather travel to get away from a bunch of clearly disgruntled individuals.
Very rude staff today . Except Nury she apologised for me having to wait and was very helpful to me I stood for 45 minutes and nothing pleasant about them to anyone .Lunch breaks taken by two staff at 12.15 that’s probably when others get a lunch break and the line was out the door . A cranky older women was only concerned if people had checked in . No bubble in any voices just rude Passport papers could have easily been at a collection point . Someone waited 50 minutes to be handed a form no hello and thanks etc . The female manager was called out to the front but didn’t jump on a counter to help . One person serving and one person doing passports . Terrible service .
HOW ARE YOU NOT OPEN ON THE 16th April yes I know Easter is tomorrow is it that hard to open for 4 hours so we get packages or do a small part of what we need to do. BLOODY USELESS the most disgusting way to run things I can’t stand to even send things hear you think you have a right to treat people the way you do. Easter Friday 15th closed. - fine Saturday 16th closed - WHY NO NOTICE THAT YOU WILL BE CLOSED NOR SOMETHING ON THE WINDOW stating these are opening hours for Easter, to hard right always thinking of yourselfs.
I just went to pick up a parcel and forgot my ID, they wouldn’t accept my many forms of digital ID such as passport and drivers license. So I went home to get it. I came back and the person in front of me started crying, literally in tears, as she had no id so they let her pick up her parcel with no id… what a disgrace. Seriously, the line for pick up was about 5 deep the first time and 10 deep the second. I feel like a lot of parcels aren’t making it to people’s homes. Sort it out AusPost and no double standards Elsternwick Post Shop!
Rude staff, especially the angry, surly little old man. Queue is always outside the door. They constantly give you incorrect advice or tell you they can’t do things. Just save yourself time and a headache and go elsewhere. Complete waste of time. Windsor / Balaclava are great alternatives. The one stop hub of miserable, poorly trained, passive aggressive dead end customer service trolls. Avoid.
Thursday before AFL Parade day public holiday, staff decided to either to not open or all leave early (before 4pm) so my delivery was redirected to Oakleigh. Problem is that the email I received said pick up parcel from Elsternwick after 4 on Thursday. I arrived Sat morning to be told it's not there. Why is a government customer focus business not available on a normal business day??
This has to be the rudest AusPost in all of Melbourne. It must be a culture problem if some sort, or just bad luck that only rude, impatient people end up all working at the store. They like to roll eyes, be short about everything and simply never be helpful. I should mention there is one exception, the very happy helpful man that always sings and whistles, he’s excellent at his job.
Never have I encountered such rude staff. I get everyone is just getting back to normal but that's no excuse for being so rude when your role is one of customer service. I see now from all of these reviews that I'm not alone in this and that many have come across the rudeness of this team of staff. And it wasn't just the one, both that were on this morning were terribly rude.
Very disappointed with the service here. Waited over half an hour with only 2 people ahead to be told the passport application I had printed was slightly crooked. They couldn’t reprint it for me and were very unhelpful. Australia Post Shop in Carlisle st, Balaclava accepted the same printout without any issues, were prompt and very helpful. Would never come back.
Wow the reviews on this place are bad. I was only in there a few minutes but it seemed alright to me. Quite often I’ve experienced rude staff at Australia post in general. Many different locations. Maybe they need to retrain their staff. Maybe it’s the processes. I gave 4 stars. Quick service. Easy to get in and out. Parking in the side streets.
I was served by Mary for my passport application which was quite complicated. She was professional, patient, retook faulty photos and bent over backwards to help me and made a call to the Passport Office for me to check something. The process was lengthy and she did not get stressed by the long queue. Thank you so much Mary
The staff do the best they can but the store and the amount of staff just isn't large enough to serve the Elsternwick populace. I really hope they consider expanding to accommodate supply with demand for such a vital service. I dread visiting when absolutely necessary as I always see a long queue out the door.
Doors were shut and locked at 4:55pm. Was racing from work to pick up a package at 5. Lady came and opened the doors to let a customer out, told me they shut at 5pm, it was 4:57 at this point and let the doors shut as I was still talking to her and she proceeded to walk away.
Worst post office ever... never enough staff, extremely long wait times and staff not only take slow but also inconsideratly talk at length about nothing whilst there’s a queue out the door. My fault for coming back here, I should know better. Nothing’s changed... 0 stars
Racist staff . Staff asked me to prove Australia license even i tried to say im international. She didnt accept my ID , and passport picture. I want to scream every time my parcel drops there. This branch is a pain. Very very rude staff. They dont deserve 1 star
This older lady today was so dismissive of me because i had a question about another post office that was apparently their, in her words, "direct competition". She was so rude to me and unhelpful because of this i walked out wondering if she was a robot.
Rude, lazy and condescending are the interactions with the three female employees at this post office. No help, no assistance to queries, no effort to provide service. Found an alternate post office in the area with much kinder and considerate staff.
The new delivery person on my route outright does not deliver items that require a signature… they just say they attempted to deliver and no one was in attendance. My housemate works from home every day and it’s becoming incredibly frustrating…
Understandably tensions are high at this time, however when you are asked to purchase a pen for $3 because there are no communal pens, and the member of staff refuses to write the address for you , it's difficult to rate any higher.
Renound in the community for the worst customer service. Everything I go in the people there are absolutely horrible. If not to me then to others customers while I wait. Definitely prevents you from using Aus post to send anything.
I visited your branch today looking for a specific mobile phone. I was assisted by Mary who was super-efficient, friendly, and helpful. Despite the shop being busy she did her utmost to assist me. She is an asset to your business !
Very crowded today; long queue to get in, but good staff doing the best they can. Have been a regular visitor since the first Covid lockdowns and ever since. The staff are always very busy but they're always friendly and cheerful
Its hours really need to be extended. The staff are great and do what they can, but the lines are sometimes soul-crushing especially with the amount of passport applications that are processed every time I go in.
Extremely rude staff. Heard a woman explaining something to a member of staff and the staff member was being a real smart arse to her. My interaction with staff was lukewarm, not a friendly smile in the place.
I posted a birthday card to the UK weighing only 60 grams and paid $10.40 for it to be delivered via regular economy mail. Absolute daylight robbery! No wonder no body is using postal services these days!
Very good Post Office. Very Fast and attentive and very friendly, the only thing that I would wish is that the PO Box Collection Centre to run from Opening to Closing Hours (5PM Weekdays)
This is more a review for Aus Post in general. Awful. And stop making everything ONLINE! Your autofill forms are useless and time wasting. Old style post service worked. Current doesn’t.
Not entirely sure why there are so many negative reviews. I’ve had only positive experiences with the staff there being some of the friendliest people. They are conversational and kind.
You need to update your post office collection slips, the hours are in correct. Came at 1pm on Saturday (slips says open until 1:30) and it was closed. Slightly inconvenient
Noury at the Elsternwick Post Shop was amazing and super helpful, engaging and made the whole experience pleasant, a stark and refreshing contrast from the team at Elwood.
Such a pleasant experience every time I visit. All staff are super friendly and have always gone above and beyond to help me with any queries I have. Thank you!
This must be up there with the worst post office in Australia. Appalling customer service who make up their own rules on the run.
Disinterested, arrogant and dismissive staff, after waiting 30 minutes. A most unpleasant experience !
Busy store on corner location. Narrow but long shop. Interestingly, not much merchandise out front.
Excellent customer service provided for lodgement of passports. Could not have been more helpful.
Such lovely staff working this morning. So helpful and friendly.
Rude staff, unpleasant experience trying to pick up parcel.
Very helpful, sent letters and Western Union and all good.
Great Post Office.. Always friendly service...
Very friendly staff and happy to accommodate.
Never seen something slow as Australia Post
Extremely rude, unhelpful staff.
Very good customer services
Get service with a smile.
