Worst post office. Horrible customer service. Avoid using at all costs. As a local resident I avoid getting anything sent to my home address in North Melbourne and instead have a post office box at Hotham Hill just around the corner where service is outstanding - even carry things to my car - outstanding! Compared to North Melbourne where they wouldn't release a parcel to my partner despite signed documentation, they had another parcel for 4 weeks before they notified me with a card in my letter box which was placed in my letter box 1 week AFTER the date of final collection - when my partner took the card up to try and find out if the parcel was still there, they took the card and then wouldn't give it back so now we have no record of tracking number! Another time they INSISTED they did not have my parcel, only when I made them check for a third time and described the box in explicit detail (QANTAS WINE BOX) - they were like, oh here it is... They are lazy and if they can't see it or it is not in arms reach they won't bother. The local postie not much better either with reliability of mail and parcel delivery. Long cues always due to staff incompetency AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!
One of the female staff, who is also in charge of locking the door during closing hours, served me. I wanted to take the package on behalf of my partner with his ID card. She also asked for documents that contained the shipping address. I have shown the tax document which clearly states the address and she insisted that it is not the same. I clearly remember there were other staff who offered to help her, but she refused on the grounds that she could handle it on her own. Even if she doesn't understand how to read an address, it's better to accept her colleague's help. She told me to go home and come back in the next day with ID and document (contained address) that I have brought with me! What a horrible service! I often pick up packages on behalf of my partner, and vice versa, other staffs helped me and we have never had a problem (we showed the same ID, the same document). We can take the package.
I see that many other reviewers have given this post office bad reviews based on the staff. The staff are actually all great EXCEPT for one person who is surly all the time, has no personality at all, and can only stick to rules and can't seem to make rational decisions for herself. In my case, I had purchased a pre-paid post bag and the item was a few grams over the 500g limit. She refused to allow me to pay a bit extra and instead wrote off the entire post bag and charged me for the next size up, which was way too big for my item. What a waste of merchandise and waste of time. On top of that, the whole situation was handled with her sour face looking at me. I actually make it a point now not to be served by her and will allow the person behind me to go ahead in the case that I'm "next!". I can only assume that these other reviewers have also been at the wrath of D, as everyone else is very nice.
staff at this post office vary from being really customer-focussed and helpful to absolute zombies! My advice is to avoid busy times (opening, lunch time and just before closing) as there can be a queue snaking its way to the exit door. I tend to collect parcels at the 7am - 9 am parcel pickup option (on the Errol St face of building - just press the buzzer and someone will come to help you... not fast however!). If you live in area - be warned that they sometimes dont leave "you have a parcel to collect" card in your letterbox.. register to get online tracking of your parcels to avoid the risk that they return them to sender!!!
Avoid that old lady!!! For your own good. Only took her an hour to find a parcel. Came back 3 times with nothing and checking for who knows what... and says she can not find it and started writing me a note saying it's lost. I had to insist on checking again and 15 mins later she finally found it! (and she had to blame on others). And she refuse to give parcels under my husband's name even we have exactly the same address and I also have his ID. Not sure if she has a hard life or what but why make others life hard too? All the other girls are 100 times more efficient!
There is a vietnamese counter working there, who is just unfriendly to Asians. I came there yesterday with the code and Uni ID and successfully picked up my parcel and thought it was ok with these identities, but when I came there today, the vietnamese counter told me she cannnot scan the code, which just made me upset, and I have to prepare my bank statement to show her if I want to take my parcel. I was standing there and trying to find sth else to show her but she just let me go and come to her next time with my bank statements. It was just a terrible experience.
So, i thought that living in an apartment, in the city that has a secure mail room, parcel locker, concierge, video intercom system and also working full time from home due to covid would mean that i would get my parcel. Apparently not. Went to check the mail box and there the a little piece of card telling me to go collect the small parcel. This has happened more than a few times and i have made a complaint against the delivery person more than a few times so its obvious that complaints dont matter. Do better! you have one main service!
Whilst this post office is okay, it is actually frustrating that their drivers do not make any attempt to deliver the packages. No note, but a notification left by the shipper that it's been delivered. Drivers don't even bother to leave a notice until days later. It's actually a joke that you have to pay for delivery with such a non-existent service. Please get rid of your lazy drivers and hire ones who can actually do the job they're being paid to do.
The people saying that the staff are friendly have obviously never been served by the old as lady with white hair. She’s the rudest person i’ve ever come across and has 0 customer service skills - don’t know why she’s working there if she hates peoples so much. They obviously don’t read their reviews either since every time i go in there she gets ruder. If i could redirect my mail to another post office i would never come here again.
If there was an award for the worst post office - Errol Street Post Office would win it year after year. Occasionally, you'll get a young staff member who is nice and courteous, but if they need to seek approval from or you're served by one of the down right rude, antiquated and elderly staff, who have no sense of customer service, then you'll experience the worst this place has to offer.
Needs an express lane or window for parcel lodgement or pick up. Also seems to take them way too long to find your parcel, what's going on back there?? Have to wait for sometimes 30mins +! for very helpful but slow and over-indulgent staff to work thru passports and people who don't know how to send a package so you can spend 15 seconds lodging a eParcel package, its not good enough.
I did have an unpleasant experience in here with a lady with a name tag Marissa, if I recalled correctly, who was very impatient to respond and help with my parcel issues when I was concerned about the missing parcel during covid time. However, there are still more friendly staff like Geoff, who I met most of the time, and Stuart, who seems to just join recently.
Unsure of her name- she was around 100 years old, a Horrible customer service. Has clearly worked in there for 80 years and is over it. There’s so many young good looking people who would love your job. Time to quit old lady. Move on and let someone with some customer service skills take over. Your Absolutely pathetic and your serving customers.
Worst post office I've been to. Only part I don't like about North Melbourne. I've found the staff very unhelpful and the collection service ranging from not ringing or and not leaving a card. The extra services can they offer appear to annoy the staff and can take quite a bit of time to get done.
Excellent service from one of the younger staff members. Very quick, helpful and knew everything. I’ve been attending the post office for the past two years. A lot of the negative reviews relate to postage to residential addresses and not the actual service of staff members in the retail area.
I only receive a call that nobody answered anything and hang up so quick that i almost think it is a spam call and that is the call inform me to collect package? If i didn't suddenly trying to talk to the sender i will never know i have a package full with document is left in this post office
Have been here a few times, was always a pleasure dealing with the younger workers. My luck probably ran out when i went there on Monday morning as i was served by an older lady, felt like she hated the job and hated being there as she was sarcastic, impolite and was making up her own rules
Every time that you purchase something in here something wrong happen. Is absolutely frustrating. Quick to grab your money but if what you bought doesn't work how should do they say we can refund your money but need time, maybe 1 or 2 business days. You are loosers guys. Shame on you
the guy with the short white hair, is kind enough but the rest of staffs, terrible. service is the worst. whenever i go there, got tensed and have to prepare what Im gonna say to them otherwise, you will be ignored with ‘next’ shouting, with annoyed face, looking down on you
Staff were helpful to all customers in the long queues especially with Christmas/ 'busy-ness' recently. Staff also very considerate to their work-buddies to. They all worked very harmoniously I thought. Well done. range of children'sbooks there to= stunning
Absolutely horrible service for a Passport appointment. The lady was in a rush and took a horrible photo of me. When I expressed a concern that the photo is no good she paid zero attention to it. Now I will look horrible on my passport for 10 years.
Arrived before close, doors were locked. Once I got someone's attention they claimed that they could not serve me as I had arrived after closing time, despite this being false and them still serving other people. Very rude service, not impressed!
Poor service, Unqualified staff, uncooperative manager, very disappointing as I couldn’t get my things done. I was there at 3:45pm and been told to come tomorrow, they only wants to go home ASAP. I don’t recommend this place to anyone
It's funny that old grandmas who WALK entire blocks to deliver magazines to people's houses early in the morning are more punctual, reliable and complain less than the drivers of this company who SIT on their behind and DRIVE the same
I went to collect my parcel today and talked to a staff member there and she said it was returned yesterday because I didn’t collect it by the due date. And I said I did not receive any messages, emails and collection card in my mail
Unhelpful showing complete disregard for customer service in person. I have also Tried multiple times to contact them on phone and the contact centre that advised me they simply don’t answer the phone. Unbelievable.
I had two separate staff members help me post several parcels internationally this week and both were quick, efficient and kind. They made things stress free. Really great service.
When the queue is going out the door and across the footpath on a Saturday morning, it’s time to put on more staff. I’m a patient person but waiting 45+ min is frustrating
Great service! Only had to buy and post a small international letter. Staff was friendly and helpful... One of the few Post Offices that was open until 18.00 pm. Thanks!
Staff stayed back an extra 15mins after closing so l could finish paper work for an OS parcel, no complaining. That's great customer service, thank you. Cheers Rory
I got a bit worried when I went through all the negative comments before. But the staff I met turned out very nice and helpful. Quite a satisfying experience.
The worst customer experience and service, like everybody mentioned here, avoid that lady!!! Very rude and impolite, maybe time to hire someone else!
I can't say a bad word about my experience. Went there to send some postcards and everything went smoothly... Plus the staff was friendly.
Gosh, do they purposely take their time? Every time I’ve been in, there is a cue… but the people behind the counter work at a snail pace…
I've been here quite a bit recently and always had a good experience. Staff have been lovely, helpful and the line moves quickly.
Best Post Office I have been too, staff very friendly, I send few parcels a week never had problems with delivery. Thanks
Post office not opening saturdays now. I dont know how i am meant to pick up my parcel, I work Monday to Friday 9 to 5.
Raj at this Auspost is amazing!!!! Went above and beyond to help me out, the best employee I've ever had at Auspost
The gentleman in parcel pick ups went over and beyond today. Thank you so much for the trolley and your kindness.
The Asian looking lady (short lady who was there on the 19th of January) was rood and was not supportive,
Expect to wait at least 20 mins every time you need to post something and do not expect friendly service
A very busy outlet but in my experience have found staff to be friendly and helpful even in peak times.
Awful experience with passport application, as they don't want us to have one. I felt discriminated. :(
Service was fast and staff were nice - got my mail and was out of there within the space of 5 minutes.
Worst. I would rather have 1 in every 10 packages I buy stolen than ever deal with these guys again
The best part of living in North Melbourne is seeing Kim! Lucky to have such a good [delivery] man!
Miserable old lady that really doesn't want to be there... Let alone provide any level of service.
I had never returned eBay parcel before, The Indian employee was really nice and helpful.
Open before normal office hours so you can actually pick packages up! A great initiative.
Very very slow parcel collection even at the designated parcel pick up point.
Thanks to the staff, good customer service. They know what theyre doing.
Beautiful building, but it can get very, very busy during peak hours.
Nothing bad to say. The employees do their work and without attitude.
They never call customer, just return your mail to the sender LOL
Helpful staff who do what they can in a busy area/environment
I dont know why they did not drop my package at my aprtmn
The staff at this post office are helpful. Thank you
Closed on Saturday despite website stating otherwise
Considerably busy. Be ready to wait for your number
If you're picking up parcels, prepare to queue...
the Asian lady's staff never smile with customers
Helpful, service was average speed for Aus post.
It has everything you need. Service is slow
It's worst post office I saw in my live.
Employees are very polite and helpful :)
Nah. Nah.Nah Just so bad ♀️ …
Generally quick, even at lunchtime.
Nice staff, service is fast enough
Super helpful and friendly staff.
Consistently rude and unhelpful
Professional and friendly
Attitude is very poor
Great helpful staff
worst service ever
it sucks
