Hello Auto Zone, On Wednesday August 2, 2023, I took my 2002 Lexus ES 300 to two different AutoZone locations (88 E. 103rd and 87th) in Chicago to get my battery tested because lately I’ve had to get my car jumped every single day. Although my battery is still under warranty, both locations refused to replace my battery stating that the machine shows that the battery is “good” at 68%. The staff at this 87th street store (Corey M and two female staff members ) stated that I needed to replace my alternator. However, when they tried to test the alternator, they could not get a reading because the battery is too low. Even with knowing this, they still refused to replace the battery. Therefore, yesterday I had my car towed to a mechanic who just informed me that the battery has a DEAD CELL and as a result, it will not hold a charge and, it needs to be replaced. I should not have to be subjected to all of this when the battery is under warranty. I would like someone to contact me in regards to this issue. Thank you.
Let's face it. Businesses on the Southside suffer from an unfortunate reputation for poor customer service. As someone who spends the majority of his time in this area of the city, I make it a point to always highlight those shops that defy that reputation, that serve as positive examples of well ordered business. This Auto Zone location was an absolute pleasure to visit! I came in hoping to purchase a few microfiber cloths, but the staff were so incredibly helpful that I decided to go ahead and purchase new windshield wipers so that they could install them on site. Lines were kept to a minimum, every single customer who came in after me was greeted warmly and helped promptly, and the entire length of my visit (including install) was no more than a half hour. I should also add that the product shelves were very well maintained. It was obvious that the staff regularly tidied the stock. This will be my go-to for auto needs moving forward.
Service would have been great... if they actually opened on time. I pulled up at 7:30am and the employees decide to arrive at the same time. I waited about 3 minutes to allow them to get themselves together and still wasn’t open. I came for a check engine light issue. Then I’m told trh person that does it, doesn’t arrive till 9am. How do you expect to have a business if your employees aren’t going to be on time or even have enough to do a simple check ? You want to try and support the business, especially in a predominately black neighborhood, but this type of experience is what makes individuals, like myself, who spend their hard earned money, but can’t even get quality service. Maybe another day or time, I’ll come back to that location, but not for a while
I was at this Auto zone and one of your workers Kevin Martin was very kind and had excellent customer service. I had purchased a bulb and the other workers in the store was giving me a hard time to put the brake light in my truck. He came from the back and volunteered to help. I was just about to return that bulb and go to a different store. He restored my confidence in Auto Zone. You need more people like him working at all the auto zones. There were 2 other workers there before he came a woman and man. When you have workers with very good customer service you feel good shopping. Will continue shopping here thanks to the great customer service of Kevin M. God bless.
An employee there named Tyshawn D. was rude, loud, unhelpful, and dismissive. My wife and I came there for a car battery and had a bad experience with him. I would've given a 1 star but another worker named Ty tried to make our visit better but it was too late Tyshawn D. ruined it. Now I see why our stores in our neighborhoods are closing down. Not just the government but the employees are bringing them down too. I don't get it if you don't want the job don't apply for it. He is a good example why people shop in the "White" neighborhoods. Well...That's where I'll be going!
Buyer BEWARE when it comes to battery charging on 53rd & Ashland. Either their charger "doesn't work properly" or they tell EVERYBODY their battery is bad. We had to replace 3 different AutoZone batteries in 6 months. & ALL our purchases "with warranties" are mysteriously vanishing from the computer. & I used to LOVE & respect "this" AutoZone. (4 cars)
Hit or miss depending on who is working. I've had excellent customer service at times and during the next visit had associates tell me they stop taking warranty returns and exchanges at a certain time. If this location wasn't convenient I probably wouldn't come here. Definitely not a location I'd recommend if you have other options.
Worst Customer Service EVER!!!! The Manager Kim is Rude Brass and very ignorant!!! Don’t pick up an online order here because they don’t fill em till u get there (MAYBE) no real knowledge of cats or parts outside of the system they work use and it was down so it was a hard time and she took it out in me
They are awesome I came in complaint about the one on stony island because they gave me a replacement alarm that didn’t go to my car they exchanged it and explained everything to me I was back connected within min they are very kind and they customer service is excellent thank you guys for everything
They got the handicap area blocked off with garbage containers and with the employees car..The young Manager and the employees on their phone as though they don't see a customer walking through the door. In the younger days you would of got fired for doing this. …

I came into the store to get brake pads and rodors for my car. Manager Kim B granted my warranty for my brake pads and she and entire staff demonstrated excellent customer service skills. Store was clean and well organized and social distancing was practiced
I came there had them check my battery they said it was good I went to Lexus because I was still having trouble with my car & they said the battery was bad get your machines check out they are not working properly I paid 200 dollars for that what a waste
Unprofessional. Ordered a part to come there, and they sent our to another state like reality? Manager's apologetic but that's not negating the fact we've just spent several hundred dollars and it got ship to another state. Totally unsat!!
The sales assistant was very helpfu. They did not have the part that I was needed. He helped me located at another store. The store is out of my region, but I would gladly go back if ever in the area and I needed cheerful assistance.
I asked for a 2017 Toyota Corolla brake pad and was handed a 2010 brake pad today! Had to be looking for another Autozone to return it after my mechanic told me it was the wrong pad wasting precious time.Poor service.
Refuse to take my return item because they don't sell it had to take it back to the Lansing Auto zone. Also I recently bought wheel bearing from here in which they were the wrong ones and they had already been used
I went to get a diagnostic test I at a time that they wasn't real busy I was waited on less than 10 minutes the young man with real patient and did the test also checked battery and alternator for me check

A cashier pretends to be busy at 9am. She puts me on hold and hangs up. These kinds of employees should be fired immediately. It shows they don't valve their jobs. This location is ghetto and unsafe.

This place sell incorrect parts to you and you will be waiting a long time trying to check out. Also, they stop taking returns at a certain time and they close early then what they supposed too.
