on 9/3 we rented a car and was told rate would be ~$35 per day, we picked car 10 am on 9/3, then returned car around 8 pm the same night and we placed key and document in their drop-off box as instructed, however, we ended with a charge of $131, Avis states car was returned on 9/5 8:30 am, we actually left San Diego on 9/4 noon that's why we dropped off car the night before. I called several times and even my credit card company and tried to dispute with no success, what a terrible experience with AVIS, very dishonest and unprofessional business, will never use them again!!!

We have been renting from Avis and this location has been the worst. The Avis Rep at the location are not courteous and they try to rent out the cars which are not cleaned properly or not even cleaned in first place. I was offered a car which had leftovers from the previous rentals. I had to pick a car which had battery problems and in the end had to waste 4 hrs of my time waiting for the roadside assistance. In the end they are not even apologetic of what had happened. Avoid this place if you want to have a trouble free rental experience.

Conveniently located small facility. I was satisfied with the car selection and the condition in which I received them. My only complain is the mysterious "Be back soon" message which doesn't seem to follow any specific pattern (has happened a couple of times now, once from 12:35- 1:10, lunch? and another time around 3 pm) and one can end up waiting for 30 mins or so. It would be useful to indicate lunch hour or specifics on the website hours.

I had a great experience at the Avis located in the Embassy Suites in La Jolla. I scheduled pickup for 8am on a Thursday; the lady was very nice and had the car ready for me. I prepaid, so maybe that's why it was so easy. Returned the car on Saturday to the John Wayne Airport at 6:30am. There were plenty of signs everywhere directing me where to go, the employee was nice, and the drop-off was quick and easy. Would do this again!

The staff at Avis (Embassy suites, La Jolla) has been super rude and never available at the office. Especially the staff on Thursday. One need to call after reaching the Avis office and wait for more than 30 minutes. I've been facing this issue for last 2-3 years. This time she had another cars on lot but forced me to take a van while I had reserved a full size car. I wanted a smaller car which she also had a few.

Both times I came to the counter no one was there. I had to call for someone to come and help me. I had reservations and came near my reserved time. When the associate came the first time she was very friendly. The associate on the phone when I returned was also very friendly and helpful. I prefer to receive a receipt upon returning a car but did not.

It seems every time we visit this location, there is never a rep at the desk and we have to wait up to 30 minutes for someone to come back. This even happened when we had a reservation to pick up a car at a specific time so they knew we were coming. The cars themselves were fairly normal, just needs a major upgrade in the customer service department.

If only the lady were available at desk at the time of my scheduled pickup. The desk was empty and there was no way to reach her. I have had the same experience twice but today was insane - waitied for more than 30-40mins only to be told that there are no options for the requested Car today. I would not like to visit this place again.

The car was old and dirty inside out. I was told the car had a full tank but had 3/4 and i had to return full since i had already signed for it. Staff were nice and courteous but a beat up ford with 50k plus miles on it is not ideal especially when it has stains of god knows what inside.

I had to rent a car last minute to drive one way back to the bay area and could not get to the airport. Found an Avis rental office at Embassy Suites in La Jolla, which was just minutes from where I was staying. Price was very good and received a car that was perfect for the trip.

Rental experience was good. However I was charged $95 for returning the car 10 minutes late (2:10pm. Apparently they close at 2). The grace period makes no sense. I ended up paying for 3 days where I didn't even have the car for 48 hours. Definitely not renting from here again.

This location while convenient for its location does not follow procedures of walking around the car to check for damage, checking the gas gage or ensuring the car is clean inside and out. I do not plan on renting from this location or the Chula Vista location again.

I frequently rent vehicles from, and have recommended Avis, specificallye the La Jolla, CA and Burnsville, MN branches, to several of my friends. These small offices are staffed with the nicest people, and the prices are very reasonable.

No response when you try to reach them. Have been trying daily since last 3-4 days and always it rings out without any response. Also most of the time this location do not have any cars to rent out, so better check at some other location

Small agency, very conveniently located. Very good choice of cars, given the size of the agency. Helpful agents, easy to pickup your car or return it. All in all, I strongly recommend this agency for people in the UTC area.

Booked a last minute rental and they were able to accommodate me with very short notice. Veronica was very quick and attentive, greatly appreciated the kind customer service. Highly recommend!

Veronica at the Embassy Suites Avis in La Jolla, CA provided me with exceptional customer service through my time in San Diego. She is one of the reasons I will stick with Avis.

People here are very friendly. But be prepared sometimes you have to wait for 5-10 mins as they will not be available at the desk and might be checking the cars in their garage.

Called in to get some answers about prices and Veronica was so rude and abrupt as if I was bothering her and forcing her to work. I will Not be renting from this place

$185.00 unlimited mileage including tax but charged me $216.00 I need to refund the deference.
