What a horrible experience this was. Wish I could give zero stars. We arrived to the airport and rented a van for 9 days. One of the days we wanted to add a second driver just for the day (which cost 10$ stated on the website). We called Avis and they told us we had to drive all the way to Barrie from where we were to Avis to add the second driver on. We go there and the Avis rep says we have to go to Budget rental since they were not "connected" to the same systems. AVIS WAS NOT CONNECTED TO THE AVIS SYSTEM BUT BUDGET WAS!? They also could not answer ANY questions we had like how much was it. We went to Budget to add the driver for the one day and ended up getting charged for the remaining 3 days on the rental (now up to 30$ extra). When we got the bill when we got home we find out we were actually charged 80$ for adding the extra driver to 1 day!! We DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THAT! Then when we are trying to return the vehicle on the day we fly out no one is EVER at the counter and we had to wait FOREVER. We talked to another customer who had the exact same van rented as we did for the exact amount of him who told us he paid $1100 LESS THAN US! He was just a regular customer... not a business customer or anything. Again the Avis rep could not explain WHY we were paying 4 times the amount this other customer was. The WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I will never rent with Avis again. Hire people who know what the hell they are doing.

Poor service - Upon pick-up I was handed keys and directed to a parking lot where there were no signs. I wandered around for nearly 20 min. before asking a stranger who recognized the make of car I had rented. Fuel tank was barely full as I discovered on the highway. There were rental documents in the glove box from 2 previous renters - when I turned them in on return, the attendant seemed unconcerned and acknowledged they would have been from previous renters. There was garbage under the driver's seat that I didn't even try to retrieve. Car was returned 1 day early - having travelled via Hwy 401 and 403, there were no nearby gas stations for top up. Attendant seemed sympathetic and said he would "see what I can do." I had to call 4 days later to request the invoice via email that he couldn't produce and stated would be sent via email. My complaint about low level fuel on pick up was ignored; my concern re:inability to access nearby stations was ignored except to remind me that I signed agreement to fill up the tank on delivery. A reminder on pickup about lack of nearby stations would have been helpful as the airport is some distance out in the country. Travelling from out of province and being unfamiliar with the area warrants a bit of warning. This is not good service.

Horrible Service. DO NOT rent a car here. first you get there nothing is ready even if you pre-booked online. The rep at the counter stressed the fact that the car has to come back fully fueled otherwise there will be a charge on our Credit card at 3.29c/liter... so we pick up the car and 3/4 tank is missing. this was late at night... so then we call Customer service. they dont know what to tell us. they hang up. i call back.. the lady on the phone says bring it back the same way. i told her no i want this in writing because later you will charge be some crazy amount. she hangs up on me. i called again asking to speak with a manager. she put me on hold and never got the manager on the phone. to this day we have not heard back from them. This service is unacceptable. Choose a different Rental Company to avoid this stress. now two month later we had another charge on our credit card for 'toll road" of 32 bucks. this is Ridiculous. NEVER EVER RENT A CAR WITH THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I then had to wait another 30 minutes to get the car I booked. The car rental right beside this one manages to always have their counter staffed.. why can't you guys? The only reason I used this rental is because it wouldn't let me cancel the day of, and the rate was the best. That said, the car I got was fantastic, and had a great experience with the actual car. Bonus points for Avis/Budget letting me extend my reservation at the same cost. Sucks that I couldn't extend it a second time without the rate spiking 30%. FYI their insurance is 2x what third party insurance though Hotwire quoted me at. Use third party!

Absolutely the worst service imaginable. Booked a vehicle before leaving Edmonton, as we were flying into Hamilton and then continuing to Toronto. Confirmed 3 times during the conversation that they would be open and available when our flight arrived at 1 am and was told repeatedly not a problem. Got to the rental place at 1 am,only to be told they had no vehicle available and that our booking had been put in for 11 am the next day. Avis left us completely stranded in the middle of the night,an hour away from our final destination. On top of that the guy at the counter was rude, unhelpful and all but said it was my fault and that I had not confirmed the booking correctly. Skip this outfit if you actually want to rent a vehicle. We were not the only ones in line that had issues either.

If it was possible to give no stars, I would. Worst car rental experience EVER. Made my reservation for a certain time, there was no one at the desk. Called the number provided and it took them far too long to get back to me as I was lied to multiple times as to why they weren't available. The CSR that ended up meeting me back at the desk ( almost two hours after my scheduled time) arrived with a rotten attitude and acted very inconvienced the entire time- asked me if I was calling him a liar after he told me I was lying. I walked away without a car due to the unprofessional nature and attitude of this CSR. I wasted my entire afternoon. Unfortunately Avis lost a pretty great sale due to a rotten attitude. The customer service line is also not very user friendly.

I flew into Hamilton and my plane was two hours late. This meant I was arriving at 1:30 a.m. a whole 1/2 hour after Avis closes! I was already wondering how I would get to Mississauga and then back to get my car. Instead - I was greeted by Mohammad who stayed after his shift and kindly advised that Avis would not leave me stranded. Then on the day of return he talked me through attempting to find out how to open the gas tank on a vehicle that had a unique tank design. Lastly, in preparation for my next rental , Mohammad kindly took my call to ensure that the car I needed would be there. Mohammad you are amazing and Avis is lucky to have you .. You are destined for great things - because you get customer service. I am an Avis customer going forward.

Terrible service! I have never been treated so poorly in a customer service experience by both the desk agent and the call center. Made a reservation for a car rental 1 month prior to our travel and we're refused service upon pick up. The was a”issue” with my major credit card and their system. The card was accepted during the online reservation. The desk agent was extremely rude to us (family of 5) and left us stranded with no alternative options, the service was so bad it left me in tears in the airport. We were able to get a car from an offsite competitor within minutes of arriving there by taxi with the same card that Avis had an issue with.

Great service and great experience awesome customer service ! super friendly I highly recommend it specially the Hamilton Airport location I recommend seeing a man named (ish) I forgot my Galaxy ear buds I was contacted ride away even tho I had no idea where I lost them at I was contacted personally by the man (ish) and I was issued a shipping to my location in Vancouver . I was given more than I asked for and I was pleased with my ride and my experience if there was 10 I would would have put but there isn't anymore than 5star because it's well deserved check them out if you're ever going to( Hamilton Ontario )

My wife she’s an executive for a well known company around the world , she rent a car at Avis in hamilton airport for a few days and she called cause she wanna extended the car and they want her to bring the car back for them to extend the rental car , Really? we rent cars all over the world and if that’s your policy, that’s horrible! and i went myself to return the car , nobody was in the counter for a while, finally when this individual who thinks his Arnold Schwarzenegger was extremely rude !! We will make sure to tell our friends and family to stay away from. Avis ! Period

Agents did not check the car at pick up and asked me to check it and let them know if I found anything. The right side of the car was badly scratched and they didn't include that in the report. The car was dirty and not washed. They placed a 350 dollar block on my card without telling me, causing it to reach the limit and preventig me from using it properly. At car return no employees were present at the counter and when calling the phone number they left there on the note no one picked up. We had to wait 10 minutes until someone showed up before we could go through security.

Terrible, unhelpful service. Mr. Butts was needlessly rude, making off-hand comments like my partner and I did not understand the classification systems, or that we did not understand how "Avis airport booking worked because it was different," when they did not have the rental car that we had requested and booked a month in advance. We then went into the lot and observed the very same car that they had promised in the Avis lot. I've been using Avis for 5+ years and have never experienced such poor customer service and flagrant disrespect. Avoid this place, or book elsewhere.

Ish is AMAZING! Thank you for having him there. He’s very informative, helpful, and he’s very considerate. He was holding down the fort by himself at a very busy time yesterday, Saturday, October 28, 2023 and despite the verbal abuse he received from a previous customer (before he dealt with my family and I), he was still so kind and happy to serve the long line he had to deal with on his own. Can you guys please give him a raise? My family and I witnessed him do everything by himself and I never seen a person with such a positive attitude. God bless him.

We were in a rush to make our flight at the Hamilton airport, so I parked the car and dropped off the keys in the drop box. After going through security I realized I left a bag in the car. I called the Hamilton airport desk to inform them of my bag. Not a problem and that they will look after it. All I had to do was send UPS to pick it up at the address the desk gave me..... Right!!! Like thats going to happen...... Well in two days I got my bag from Hamilton to Edmonton with all contents accounted for. Thanks to Mohammed and all who made this happen.....

Experience went well until 3 months after we rented. We had been charged for damage that was pre-existing. We failed to notice the small ding in the lot, but my wife noticed it at our first pit stop. The incident report said they left a voicemail When I tried to call and sort it out, they wouldn't answer the phone for 3 weeks. When I did reach the claims department, I was told there's nothing that can be done. I can rent from other companies, and will be sure to use the other rental company in Hamilton.

Very unprofessional employee. Showed up over 15 mins late for opening hours leaving approximately 10 customers waiting. When he did show up (with his fresh Tim Hortons coffee in hand) he did not bother to apologize or even entertain the group with an excuse. He didn't even bother to show up for work with clean clothes on. Large black grease stains on ones chest doesn't give me faith in the employee or company. This occurred at the Avis counter at Hamilton, Ontario Airport, 17 Dec 2018, 6:15 am.

Will not be renting here again. We showed up and they said our car had no damage and that it had a full tank of gas. We then went out to the lot and noted damage and it had a 3/4 tank. We went back in and noted the damage and the 3/4 tank so there would be no problems on return. We then got charged $25 on return of the vehicle for fuel when we returned it slightly above 3/4 of a tank. This is a dishonest business practice, not one I would expect from a national chain.

My experience at the Hamilton Airport was horrible. I came in for a flight that was cancelled at 6am. I could of made a Toronto flight if the Avis rep showed up at 6am as per the web site. But because the flight was cancelled and he felt that he didn't have too. He rolled in at 9am instead. The call centre wouldn't change my reservation so I could drop the car in Toronto. I should of gone with National they came to work at 6am. Never again will I deal with Avis.

This is the worst possible place you can rent a car from in Hamilton. They are racist and they ask for an absurd amount of deposit that was not stated on the website when you call. They do not tell you about this $500 deposit. If they had told me before hand I would’ve prepared. They see a young black male and all of a sudden I have to deposit $500, even though I was not previously warned. I ended wasting my time & went over to enterprise instead. Biggest L.

I rent from here often. 3-6 times per year. I've only had an issue once and it was strictly miscommunication. I recently came into Ontario and dealt with Lake and Naweed and I cannot say enough good things about them. They went above and beyond and took great care of my rental needs. I highly suggest renting from here regardless of the negative reviews. Everyone has a bad day but deserves a second chance!

Ish was amazing! He went above and beyond to help me with my rental. He never had to do what he did, but I really appreciated it. We got in at 11:30PM, and I'm sure by then anyone would've been in a poor mood given the late night but not Ish. He was hilarious, caring, kind and easy to talk to. He showed tremendous customer service skills and is a valuable asset to this location. Thank you again Ish!

would give zero stars if possible. so far the worst car rental company ever. Nobody’s at the desk, i waited for 1 hr and kept calling customer service who are just straight up rude. I am a very patient person and can put up with peoples attitude and stuff but they just crossed all the lines. If they keep up like this, they ll probably lose all the customers.

Don’t use these guys. They just charged my credit card one month after the car rental. They claim it’s because the gas tank was empty, but I filled it up at the gas station by the airport. They also refuse to give a refund. Avoid these guys. Additional Revision - They have now charged my card once again.

Excellent customer service today. Our flight to Kitchener was cancelled and we ended up flying to Hamilton. Lake and the team at Avis hamilton airport went above and beyond to help us out. We really appreciate the excellent service, right down to helping us find the SUV on the lot. Great experience.

Decent car, BUT: I reserved a compact, was given a sub-compact, the lot attendant lied to me and said the Chev Spark fit both the sub-compact and compact categories, and then they had the nerve to send me a receipt explicitly stating that I was rented a sub-compact and charged for a compact.

Good customer service. Newer vehicle and was clean. The only concern to, I tried to call them several times after dropping off the keys, to get to know my final expenses, but nobody answered the phone. That could/should be better. Otherwise it was great to rent a vehicle from Avis

Agree with previous reviews. Service is incredibly slow and took over an hour to enter a car at 5:00am on a November Saturday. I use Avis lots and am a preferred member. I am used to walking up and grabbing my keys in under 2 minutes. Extremely poor managed location.

I don’t recommend this place at all. They have no consideration towards their customers and neither do they honour their word or booking you have. I highly suggests you stay away from ( Lake Dhori ) you will have the worst experience in your life. So disappointed!!!

So unhelpful and rude. The guy at the desk didn't even give directions to the car and we wandered outside for 15 minutes in -20 weather. Once we found the car, the windshield wiper fluid was low and the tank wasn't full. Do not recommended this place at all.

They do not do local rentals, which is disappointing, and frankly discriminating. They are not staffed, as the counter was empty at 1pm on a Wednesday, where the Enterprise counter had 3 staff. Avis was going to be back for the next flight at 11 pm.

Booked a car months before, and was told I only had to pay $130 for 3 days. I get there and they tell me I have to pay an extra $200 at time of rental. Couldn't do anything about it because I needed a car, so had to pay it anyway. Will not be back.

Hamilton airport location is most definitely not ideal. Short staffed guys did their best but, the wait is extremely long. They should send staff from another location at times when there are multiple aircraft landing. Guys did their best though.

Terrible, poor customer service. We made an online reservation and prepaid and when we got there they had no car for us. They did nothing to help us out and left us stranded at the airport. Would never use them again.

Honestly the best car rental experience I have had so far. I booked my Car on the app. Walked up to the counter. Gave my name and phone number the gave me a free upgrade signed some papers and away I went. 5min!!!!
