Hello all, I’m a person that reads reviews and base my decisions on others and let me tell you about Avondale auto repair and service writer Sammy. This is my second time using Avondale auto repair and they went the extra extra mile for me. Here’s the quick story, my truck broke down on the highway and I could not drive it any further called my auto club for tow and they said two hours wait. I then called Avondale to see if I could get it towed there today and Sammy said no problem bring it in. Which was great news for me, now I’m still on the highway and 2 hours is just to long to be on the highway so i decided to call Sammy again and asked if he knows of any tow truck service, with in minutes Sammy text me back with a number of a tow they use. I called the tow guy and guess what he said to me sure I’ll be there in 15 minutes and sure enough he was there in 15 minutes and towed me to Avondale auto repair and backed my truck into a bay spot. People Avondale auto repair is the real deal. Here’s a little more just to show you people how they care about there customers. Sammy stated that he called a bunch of parts stores to find my part but no one had the part and Sammy stated it could be a few weeks until they got the part, with no choice I had to leave my truck. But Sammy kept trying and trying to find it and in one day Sammy called me and said I got your part we’re ready to put it on. I want to thank the owners of Avondale auto repair and all the mechanics and especially the service writer Sammy for all the hard work they do to keep there customers happy, also real quick they take pictures of the broken parts and text you the pictures so you see what there fixing. Great customer service, my family has 3 cars and they all will go to Avondale auto repair from now on. Sammy thanks again your the best.

As others have said, I 100% recommend this shop. I have an old 2007 Lexus that had multiple, expensive problems, including faulty catalytic converters, engine coolant temperature sensors, among others. I was searching for a shop that is reliable and honest, and I’m so happy that I found Avondale Auto Repair. I can’t say enough great things about Sammy. He is professional, knows what he’s talking about, and walked me through in detail all the issues with my car. On top of that, the cost for all repairs was incredibly reasonable. I have my own car scanner, so I already knew the problems with the car and a proximation of how much money it would cost to repair those. The codes in my scanner and the ones from this shop were on the same page--the shop didn’t come up with unnecessary or made-up fixes--and the cost estimate I was given was on par or below I was expecting. Moreover, in previous months I had gone to another auto repair shop and the Lexus dealership, and their repair estimates were significantly more expensive than here. My car has been running smoothly since the repairs and my personal scanner show no codes anymore! I’m telling my friends and family to come here to get their cars fixed. Do yourself a favor and look no further than this shop. You won’t find a more reliable, honest, and reasonably priced place. It was great to feel that I was being taken care of. I don’t typically write reviews, but I just couldn’t keep this to myself. Sammy will take care of you all the way!

Very impressed with this shop's service and work. Samuel was very friendly when I dropped my car off and surprisingly remembered me by name the next day when I went to pick my car up. Speaking of, the turnaround time was amazing! Had my car back to me in less than 24 hours with a 2 month guarantee on parts and labor. They are also the first and only auto shop I've used that sent me pictures and video of the issue with my car before starting the work. The online portal is easy to use and you are able to choose which services you want to have them fix on you car. Pricing was definitely fair and while my bill was high because i needed an entire AC compressor replacement it was not outrageous and averagely priced for Chicago. I would 100% do business with them again, however, I hope that won't be for a little while (no offense to the shop lol).

This place is great, Gil and his crew who are super duper nice did an amazing and expedited job at fixing my car (which my dumb a*** let overheat and caused the motor to warp). The job was finished 3 days earlier than expected and the price for the job was really good as well (as verified by 3 other outside sources). You receive a detailed itemized electronic break down of their inspection including descriptions and photos of the specific parts that need repair and are completely upfront and transparent about what is a vital fix and what isn't (unlike other mechanics that try to push as much unnecessary repairs on you as possible to make an extra buck). They even threw in a complimentary car wash and interior cleaning. I appreciate this place soo much. This is definitely going to be my go-to repair place from now on! :)

My car wouldn’t start, two previous auto shops (one being the manufacturer dealership shop) had suggested it was computer related due to the zero code results they got when they hooked up to their computer system. The low ball quote I received from the other two shops was of 1300+ (900 for new computer, 300 for programming, and 100 for diagnostic fee). I ended up taking my car to Avondale Auto as a last option and I’m so glad I did. Not only was my car towed by the company contact (AAA refund) but they within a couple of hours called to ask if I had recently gotten a new key. It turns out, the people who programmed my new key removed the old key from the internal system. I saved so much money!!! Seriously, such great service, knowledgeable, and professional!

I'd give Avondale 10 star if I could. My car broke down on the highway, AAA towed it to Avondale (I chose where to take it) and I spoke with Sammy and Nathan. Both of these Gents helped me out a ton. I spoke with Nathan several times over the phone, he picked up right away and answered all of my questions without hesitation (ty Nathan). Also thank you Sammy for all of the work you did with me on the phone, waiting for extended warranty people to pick up the phone and whatnot. Avondale didn't stop until they figured out the problem and got me going in the right direction. Una compania me refirieron a esta localidad. En realidad fui para cambio del sistema de frenos que estaba gastados y me hicieron un diagnostico general para ver si habia algo mas, en fin no encontraron mcho mas que tambien se hizo el cambio de otras partes que necesitaba el vehiculo. Lo que me sorprendio es que el precio de la mano de obra fue muy alta comparada con el consecionario donde lo compre, por ultimo no tuve satisfecho con el trabajo y tuve que regresar a que lo arreglara bien, y me indicaron que a lo mejor era otra cosa que se deberia arreglar a futuro. No existio la cortesia del personal, exepto del mecanico encargado de reparar mi carro, aunque tengo garantia por el trabajo que me hicieron, no me quede satisfecho del todo.

I’m very happy with my experience at Avondale Auto Repair and definitely plan to return. It is exciting to have such a trustworthy auto shop in the neighborhood. Sammy was my main point of contact and he was very professional, pleasant, and patient with any questions or clarifications I needed from him. I also enjoyed the online system of sending pictures and descriptions of each separate vehicle issue found and letting the customer pick and choose what they need done in order to come up with the estimate based. It’s very modern and efficient. The final price was fair and the repair I needed was completed quickly and was of high quality. I would recommend this place for anyone needing vehicle repairs or general maintenance!

I was on a trip from Colorado to Chicago, staying in Chicago for several days before heading back home. I heard a noise coming from my front driver's side wheel and called to get it looked at. They were able to get me in that morning and Hector diagnosed it to be due to loose wheel lug nuts (3x of 5x were loose!). They found a few other minor things, but said I didn't need to address them prior to my trip back to Colorado. I appreciate that they were able to get me in so quick, diagnose the problem and get me safely going back to Colorado. Glad I found them and saving me a potential HUGE headache had what they found been missed. Thanks so much guys, highly recommend you and will be back when back in Chicago!

Wow! I’ll never use this shop again! They are so unorganized. I understand that delays happen but I had to call multiple times and text in order to get an answer. The receptionist there was rude when I asked what was going on whit my vehicle and why it was taking so long for me to get a call whit an update. They have very poor communication. You would think they have top notch service for what they are charging. Well now I have to take my vehicle elsewhere, it’s making a sound it wasn’t making before I dropped it off. What a waste of money and time! Do your selfs a favor stay away from this place. Your car could come out worse than when you took it like mines... 0 stars if I could!

I drove 30 minutes to come here specifically. They were very professional and helpful over the phone and in person. Eveything was explained in easy to understand details. They showed me video they took while under the car and broke down the estimates as well didnextra research for me. Even though they didn't take long, the waiting area is very open and clean. They have water, coffee, 3 comfortable couches with plenty of outlets to charge phone. They also have a big TV with Netflix and a CLEAN bathroom :) All the estimates were went sent directly to my phone so I can reference them at any time. I felt no pressure from them...just well informed. I highly recommend them to anyone.

I can into this establishment on Tues 02/07/23 (my first time here) to get a quote and repair the brake pads and rotors on my toyota camry. It was a very wonderful experience for me.The garage,waiting area and customer service was phenomenal.The place was clean and welcoming . I met and interacted with Sammy and he gave me realistic and affordable quotes on the repairs l wanted. Sammy was a true gentleman and very good professional. I wish and advocate that this man gets a raise as his outstanding customer service and friendliness was one of a kind.l live in hyde park will will definitely be driving here for all my regular car maintenance and problems.

My key was stuck in ignition and I found them online called to see if they could do the repair. Samuel ask when I could bring it in and I had it towed there the next day. From that point on there response time was excellent. They did and inspection and let me know a few other things needed attention (which I’m grateful they did do the inspection because I would have not know there were other issues and he sent photos) got an estimate and work was completed in two days. I will definitely go back there for future repairs and pricing was exceptional. Thank you Samuel for you and the technician that worked on my car.

Customer service has been excellent. They are very transparent about what you need and don't need done. The person I spoke to was very patient answering all my dumb questions.. Will update when the job is done but so far I am confident that my car is in good hands. Update: About to be my third visit to this shop with my lemon car.. :^) I am so glad I found this place. I feel really confident about going here because they warranty their work and give you updates as they go. No more getting ghosted after droppping my car off.

Highly recommended. This is an auto repair shop you can trust. They never recommend work that isn't needed ... and if their is work that is needed, but not immediately they will let you know approximately how much time you have before the repair needs to be done. I know I always get great service at this shop, or their other shop, Logan Square Auto Repair. 10/7 - I was in again, this time for a new battery. Gil got me in and out quickly with a brand new battery. No other work recommended. They really are a great shop!

I called in today for work on my brakes- this was an urgent need as I’m leaving out of town. I spoke to Samuel H. From the first contact with “Sammy” they were able to see me today, I was sent photos of the issue, I was sent a text with the full quote before they started the work, and they were able to fix in less than one day with an extremely reasonable price! Everyone was professional and super friendly. This definitely won’t be my last time here- if I need service in the future I won’t hesitate to call! M.Q.

If I could give more stars, I would. The guys here are good people and give fair estimate. They worked with me when my brakes gave out and gave me the price. When I realized it wasn’t worth it for the car (their was a lot wrong with my car besides the brakes) they didn’t push or pressure me into getting any service. They were helpful with my decision to get rid of my car. 10/10 I will be going to them for all my car needs with my new car. I highly recommend this shop to anyone wanting great service.

Had a small repair issue that most shops didn't want to bother trying to resolve. But when I reached out to Avondale Auto Repair, they met my request with a helpful, positive attitude- and said they'd gladly resolve it for me. They fixed my problem in a few hours- fast, honest, reasonable and quality work. I will happily and gladly bring my cars here for any work that needs to get done. So thrilled to have such a great auto repair shop in the neighborhood you can trust!

We’ve been to them twice so far to repair our vehicle. Avondale auto repair always does an amazing job with the car. Both times the repair was completed quickly and the work was great! They always communicate with you throughout every step of the process and are very clear and fair with their pricing. More recently, they repaired our car after an accident and they were very helpful and cooperative with my insurance company. I highly recommend avondale auto repair.

I went to them because my oil pressure light was on. The repairs were over $1000 and I couldnt afford it so I told them to just get the essential issue fixed in the meantime. When I came to pick it up they told me they fixed some of the other issues for no additional charge. I recently got laid off due to the pandemic and it really meant a lot to me for them to do that. You don't find that too often nowadays. Great professional service. Will be back

I don’t normally just give out 5 stars but for now, their good in my book. Samuel Hernandez off back from the day 1 till the day I left, he remained A1! The crew conducted themselves very professionally. Told me everything that was wrong. Even took pictures and send them to me. The receipts are detailed and the warranty is very promising. I am very grateful for their service, especially Mr. Hernandez. Thank you all for your services and patience.

Sammy and his team are very professional and easy to do business with. They did a thorough inspection and provided pictures of the problems and estimates of the work. I shop around, and their estimates were very reasonable. I have brought my car in to them twice, and very much appreciate the way they listen to my needs, help me prioritize repairs based on a limited budget, and provide excellent service and repairs!

I came into the shop and my car was barely running. They did an inspection on my car within a couple of hours and it came through a text message which list everything that was going on with the car. It’s very convenient. It was too much going on with my car so I didn’t get anything done but they were very fast and polite and they understood my situation. I will go to them for future car repairs. I Googled"oil changes near me" and was delighted to see Avondale Auto Repair! I have lived in Avondale for 30 years and did not want to go back to the dealer or an express. Price, workmanship and time was well worth it. The reason I will return tho is because of Sam, the young man at the front desk. Sam was courteous, patient and answered all my questions. Recently we brought my mate's car in to troubleshoot an electric problem. We came here because the mechanics at some of the dealerships are on strike. However, their customer service was professional, welcoming and friendly. They listened to the problem, tested the vehicle thoroughly and gave their final evaluation in confidence. Incredible service. I had a rusted screw on my license plate I couldn’t get off and needed it switched today. Called in and Sammy not only saw me immediately but did it for free. I know it’s a small thing but I’ll definitely be back. Also, this place has the nicest waiting area of any mechanic I’ve been to—plush leather couches, an aquarium, and some really cool Columbian art.

I have taken 3 different cars to this shop. Japanese, German, & Swedish brands. They do great diagnostic work on each of them. It’s a nice, clean shop. Ric is extremely knowledgeable. They provide clear estimates with photos and communicate with you. Fair prices on all services. They offer discounts to Costco members. I continue to come here for all of my regular maintenance.

Thanks for the break light change! I dropped by the other day after finding out my lights were out and the team got me together quickly, and generously so. This was my second (and not my last) time here and I can’t recommend them enough. I’ve had my battery and break pads changed here too, and the team does solid and efficient work with transparency and professionalism.

I truly had an enjoyable experience here. My car was being inspected the owner was pleasant informative as well as very nice. I felt at home secured and about to be assured of my cars dilemma. Fairly priced my repairs was very honest with pricing and even attempted to beat the pricing. But i decided to rid myself of the car. Good honest kinda pricy but thoroughly place.

Avondale Auto Repair was great.I recently had my car repaired with them The service was fantastic! The mechanics were knowledgeable and efficient. Sammy at the front desk was so helpful on getting me a last minute appointment and getting me in and out in no time and walked me through the entire process. I highly recommend them for any car repairs you may need.

I wouldnt recommend this place if you dont want to waste "Alot" of money. I spent about 2-3 grand issues another place would of fixed cheaper and actually fix the problem. Within 3 - 4 months I blew money for my car to just die out. Idk if they give you the cheapest parts but 1 Star rating seems about right do research they give you a 10% discount like its enough.

Had my catalytic converter stolen over the weekend and Avondale Auto Repair was able to fit me in same day. They were quick with the diagnosis and kept me up to date with what was happening. They were helpful with the insurance and gave me advice on items I could add that would help this from happening again. Quick and above and beyond service. Would recommend.

Great place, awesome people. I’ve been coming here since moving to Chicago and they have made car repairs so easy with simple explanations of the issue for people like me who don’t know anything about cars, affordable prices and overall easy to work with. With that I’ll keep coming back and encourage other people to get their car services done here as well :)

Charged $50 to repair a tire that was still leaking just as badly as when it was dropped off. If the tire wasn’t fixable, just say it’s not going to be possible and sell me a new tire…My girl picked this spot for this issue, she should’ve consulted me as I would’ve told her to go to an actual tire shop. Can’t speak to their ability to do mechanical work.

I loved the communication that Sam shared with me. I really appreciated the level of transparency about the items that needed to be repaired with my car with photos and detailed descriptions. I just wanted to post on here how great of an experience I had at Avondale Auto Repair - I’ve been having issues with my 2019 Sierra 1500 and some of the them dealer couldn’t figure out and held on to my truck for several days. I took my truck back, called these guys up and got everything done and reprinted in 2 days. Highly recommended!

I brought my car in here for service recently. I was able to call ahead and schedule a time for a couple days later. The wait was a little longer than I thought it would be, but the staff was super friendly, knowledgeable, and the work done was great. I plan on coming back again for any maintenance I need.

Fantastic service and very professional. I had my catalytic converter stolen overnight, and they made the process incredibly smooth to get it replaced at a fair price. I love their use of an online system to sign off on repairs and line item prices. They also have a very clean and modern lobby.

My car broke down on the way back from the airport, they were able to fit me in and I got my radiator replaced for a very reasonable price, being from out of state and desperate they could have very easily screwed me over but thankfully they were fair and honest.

Brought my car in to find my transmission is fried. Unfortunately I'll be throwing out this car, but I'm so grateful that they did a full inspection and were really kind with me leaving with no service done to my car. Super nice people, I'd go back again.

Came in because I had just hit something that had sheared off a mess of plastic in my wheel well. The mechanic managed to remove the plastic which was scraping up on my tire free of charge. Would recommend this shop to anyone needing auto repair services.

Avondale Auto Repair was quick and efficient with my oil change. They also did a diagnostic and got my tail light fixed while I waited, which was great. Sammie was friendly and fun to talk with while I waited. Would definitely recommend.

This place is a rip off. Over inflated pricing. Erroneous estimates on unnecessary parts. They gouge insurance companies. Do not go there. They overcharge insurance and picket the money. Reporting to the BBB. Stay away.

I have taken my Nissan Rogue to Avondale Auto Repair a few times, and each time I am incredibly satisfied with the customer service and repairs made. I will continue to go to Avondale Auto Repair for all my car needs.

Got an oil change here to see if I could use this shop in the future.. being new to the area. Opened up my hood a couple days later and the cover for my V8 is missing. Won’t return. They can’t even put parts back.

This place is trying to get rich off an alternator job. I called n asked how much to replace an alternator n they gave me a quote of 650. And the job is for a 99 Honda.

Used them 2 times this year already, it’s March 2021 now, and both times have been amazing. My car runs great; I can’t see going anywhere else! 100% recommend.
