Amongst the trendy cafes of Balmain, this bring a touch of the classics. With a solid menu made well, some of my favourites over all the visits includes perfectly poached eggs, creamy scrambled eggs, avocado on toast & a decadent French toast. Coffee is great & staff are friendly. There is also a cabinet full of cakes, all house made. Some of my favourites are the red velvet cake loaded with cream cheese icing on top and in the middle, a good old fashioned vanilla slice, a fluffy, light NY cheesecake or a simple cupcake. The house made pies, sausage rolls are filled generously with lots of flavour from herbs and spices. Servings are generous and always expect a good feed.

Disappointing brunch today. I ordered an avo, chicken & Camembert on Turkish bread melt and ended up with a toasted sandwich on white bread. Also a pretty ordinary latte. When I asked about the white toastie I was given the server told me I was incorrect, it never mentioned Turkish bread. Upon closer inspection when I went to pay I discovered I was correct. The manager/owner apologised and told me the server was new. I wouldn't have minded as she then told me that she wasn't charging for the coffee. However, she clearly did not take off the holiday surcharge and my $13.50 toastie ultimately cost me $18.50!

I was not expecting this, but Berlin Bakr is the home of the best burger in Balmain and Rozelle. My wife and I have tried a number of places; takeouts, pubs etc, and when we popped out for a little lunch we happened to order both the beef and chicken burgers between us. Oh my word, they were fantastic. Well presented, hot, tasty, good ingredients, not drowned in oil or condiments. The cafe itself has great coffee and lovely friendly staff as always, but after such a surprising and delicious burger I felt I had to review!

Bring back the German food. It used to be a favourite place to dine, but the only great thing here now is the coffee. Alas, the meals are too big, and although pleasant enough, just as good as I make at home. I go out to try better food that will surprise me and bring me back, and I expect food to match the name. It could have been called Cabramatta Bakr

Stopped by for lunch on a public holiday, the service was super friendly and we didn’t have to wait ages for the food. It wasn’t too busy in Balmain and we were lucky to sit at a table outside. We both had one of the sandwich options, one with a side of chips. The food was tasty and fresh and when we went to pay the cake display looked great though we were so full we didn’t take any cakes on this visit!

There are many great cafes in Balmain, but this by far my favourite! Food and coffee are great - I recommend the almond croissant, and the smoothie and juices are also a highlight! But what makes this cafe my favourite it the welcoming atmosphere. The staff are so lovely: super efficient and really friendly!

As one of our local cafes, the food is always wholesome and good quality. The portions are really reasonable - you always walk away full!!! Real hearty homemade style food. Their burgers and cakes are also great. They deserve to be as busy as they are! Great family operation.

The oldest cafe in #Balmain one of the oldest parts of early #Sydney - now full of Creatives, designers & cool people drinking lattes at funky cafes (myself incl.) It's still great quality food and drinks. Reservations for groups absolutely essential on a weekend!

Have enjoyed breakfast here on several occasions while in Sydney. The coffee is great and atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Thank you for providing gluten free options.

By far the best breakfast on offer in the area. The quality is second to none. We now call this "our breakfast spot". Th flavours, the presentation and the professional attitude of the staff are really excellent. I would highly recommend a trip!
