The check out on the online BFI store is an absolute mare. Like most people these days I buy many goods online & rarely have any problems. But the BFI store check out is not fit for purpose. You would think that my being a BFI member who regularly buys tickets would make the check out a piece of cake... Hell No. The error messages are unrelenting. I tried to buy a box set in the Black Friday sale.. multiple times. First it kept insisting on my adding a telephone number.. which after several attempts I succeeded. But then my debit card (which works everywhere else), was repeatedly declined. It seems like the system is really buggy & you need to be Einstein to complete a purchase. Being disabled, it is hard for me to get the physical store. I've given up & will stick to Amazon.
Just shocking service. Very dissapointed as I have held the bfi in very high esteem before making this order. First of all one of the items ordered was delayed which is understandable mistakes happen but another item from the order was completely missed off and was never delivered. I have emailed them multiple times trying to get the item I ordered delivered all to no reply. I have tried calling them on multiple occasions at diffrent times and they have not picked up. I have waited months just to see if they were back logged. Nothing. My hope is this reveiw will force them to take notice and for my order to be completed. Just disgusted with such terrible service. My advice is to use another service.
I absolutely love visiting the BFI shop. It's one of my favourite things about visiting London and I always pop in there before getting the train home. I have bought so many wonderful DVDs and books there, and the staff are always so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I can't wait for it to reopen so I can go back there. I have, however, purchased items from the online shop during lockdown, which also has a wonderful selection. My favourite place to buy DVDs as I know that I am also supporting the work of the BFI, which is a registered charity.
Placed an order at the start of May but has yet to be delivered 2 months later. There may be a COVID pandemic on but 40 working days far exceeds the 'sent out in 5 working days' message from the website. No response recieved to multiple emails sent to the BFI Shop email, the BFI Shop managers email or the BFI Customer Services email (Delivery receipts were received). Likewise no one ever answers the BFI Shop phone. If the number is not in use, how about leaving an automated message or not instructing people to call it! Exceptionally poor service.
I pre ordered the Re release of "Dance Craze" back in August of of last year. Now that it has been released they have yet to ship it or provide any information to me as to when it might ship. I have emailed them several times with no reply and called them multiple times and got no answer and no answering machine to leave a message.. It is my hope that maybe this negative review might get them to reply to me and let me know when I might expect it or when to expect a refund.
I ordered a copy of Powell and Pressburger's War (Hardback) released on 19th October 2023, that is 3 1/2 weeks ago and have not received the book. I have sent an email and spoken on separate occasions to two different members of the sales staff. Still no sign of the book or of a requested cancellation refund. So much for the 'lovely staff' mentioned in another review! What a pathetic lack of organisation!!
Very unreliable customer service. I walked an hour in the pouring rain only to find the store closed. That’s not what the online postings say. If you cannot trust them to be open when they say where’s the quality of the BFI experience. Waste of my time. I was only in London for a few days.
i have tried ringing the bfi shop for the past 18 months ,no one answers the phone its a waist of time trying to deal with this shop,it would be better if they just closed up the shop for good,no one gives a dam about the buiseness,
Just reopened after remodelling and they've ruined it! They've mixed dvds and blu-rays together making it take 5 times as long to find anything. I was a repeat customer here for the last few years but don't think I'll bother now.
Never order anything again at this shop. Pre ordered Ghost Stories for Christmas 2 months ago. Release was a month ago Still not dispatched. They don't answer to emails or phone anymore. A harrowing shopping experience.
Great place. Very addictive and you can spend hours in here. In the summer on the south bank it's great to meet up with some friends and enjoy all the various festivals going on near this attraction also. Great place.
Part of the British Film Institute, selling DVDs and Blu Rays, as well as books and other related merchandise. Located on the Southbank, directly below the southern approach to Waterloo Bridge.
I have just had some of the most heartwarming emails from customer service. Support stores like this , it may take longer , it may not arrive next day but it will go to the right people.
Arrogant shop assistant refused to wear mask she only customers need to wear them I’ve had 2 relatives die. From covid I hope she will pass over too vile person.
Entré anpassad för personer med funktionsnedsättning, rymlig toalett, brett utbud av underhållning, café, bibliotek m.m.
Good selection of classic films from around the world. Really helpful staff. Plus... V cool and spacious cafe!
Stylish, friendly and well stocked. Has a nice balance of BFI specific distributions and more general supply.
Moved into the main foyer, still with a treasure of rare titles, unique gifts, and memorabilia.
Closed mMonday, really folks? It's probably a tourist destination. Pure British arrogance.
This is a great place to browse unknown titles but the prices are not exactly cheap.
Lovely staff and some good selection of film books and DVD. Very warm atmosphere
Fantastic shop filled with magazines, postcards, books and dvds and blurays.
