"This place changed my life"
I went to BLOKrun today which is a free group class (at the time of writing). I went on the recommendation of my friend who has been a couple of times with BLOK. Positives: - friendly people attend so it’s great from a social perspective. - toilets and shower facilities are well stocked. - front of house staff and instructors are fantastic. They are enthusiastic about making a meaningful customer experience for people. - changing rooms are stunning and crucially are clean. - it was a challenging run but all levels are genuinely welcome to come. Nobody was looked down on. Feedback points: - when I went to make an account on the app on the app it took me down a rabbit hole of having to use the website to do it. This seemed confusing as it should be possible to register an account in the app instead. Once an account has been registered it is easy to book classes though. - at time of writing some of the lockers in the changing rooms were damaged, would be good if these lockers were fixed particularly if people bring valuables. - address and postcode of the class booked should be advertised more clearly. - the run today was advertised as a 5K but then on the day it ended up being twice that in terms of distance. Would be good if route and distance could be shared in advance of a class for better clarity.
It had been over a year since I had been to the studio. I even in the past had considered a membership if I lived slightly closer. Today I went to got to a one off class and would not recommend it. The toilet was really messy, and in the process I was locked out of the class, despite the fact I had checked in and no one had given me a warning. Most people who can afford a studio membership to such a place like me will be busy working professionals trying to cram in a work out and recovery time into their schedule. They do not want to pay over £200 a month to be treated like school children. Luckily it was a one off class and I have an alternative membership to a place where you can use the loo and not be locked out at one minute past. The bike storage is bad too. Won’t be going back or recommending it to anyone.
The studio is worn and grotty, there’s charge for towels, changing rooms are tiny and old, lockers don’t have locks, classes are absolutely packed and to top it off, Blok is EXPENSIVE!!! I don’t get it. It’s not worth the cost. Give this place a renovation if you want to charge fancy central London prices because this ain’t it
What a lovely studio and classes - I’ve enjoyed every class I attended. My preference is definitely the yoga & Pilates classes. The Clapton branch is smaller than Shoreditch but still great with friendly staff and instructors. Customer service over email is also very helpful. Thank you Esther & Dean for resolving my query :)
This place changed my life. I’d never been able to stick to a consistent gym routine before, but the combination of excellent teachers (!!!), varied classes, friendly FOH team, gorgeous studios, and a busy schedule have made this place an important part of my week. Can’t recommend it enough.
Class packs have a short expiry date and Blok couldn’t care less if you lose all credits. £1 for towels, they keep trying to push the smoothies, equipment is dated. As someone say below they try and nickle and dime the customer, not exactly a great place overall.
Went to a reformer Pilates class led by Corinne and my bum was sore for three days; worked out every muscle including my brain - an amazing workout!! The studio itself is well equipped and Corinne ran through the basics for any beginners. Defo will be back!
My favourite gym in London. The classes are very well run, ranging from HIIT to Yoga (and handstand classes!). The teachers are great, equipment is good and the atmosphere is nice too. It can get a little tight in peak hours, but that's London!
I went to a sculpt class here, and the instructor was really poor - some of the instructions, especially for ab work, felt dangerous and very damaging to your lower back. She asked everyone to do leg raises at a really quick pace with ankle
Classes are good but poor policies, like a recent zero tolerance for late comers, charging for towels and lack of proper water bottle filling stations drag this place down. For the monthly price, which is on par with at high end boutique or
Horrendous service! Was harassed by their incompetent staff because of a payment system failure. In a way that was rude, condescending and caused a public scene that took no regard for service towards a paying customer. After repeatedly
Great trainers, friendly stuff, clean rooms, good equipment, a lot of very different classes and every single one of them is taken seriously. I also love the after-class protein drinks to walk home with after a strong and sweaty hour.
I love Blok. I frequently attend both the Clapton and Shoreditch locations. It’s so clean and the staff are always great. The standard of instructor here is so high and I’ve rarely come out of a class I didn’t like.
The place looks nice but would not go there even if i was paid to do it, staff members are just the rudest people i have come across. This place also serves the weakest lattes on the Blok for a ridiculous price
Very varied selection of classes with really welcoming staff. Lovely facilities too - would highly recommend for an all round great work out experience
Excellent studio. Always nice and clean, and the staff are all brilliant. The classes are among the best in London, brilliant instructors!
THIS GYM HAS TURNED MY BODY AROUND. The best team and teachers. Matteo I would marry were he not Camp as a Lamp. Always smiles <3
Classes here are fantastic. They really do have the best instructors here. Studio is cool too
Great gym, it could have better ( bigger changing rooms ) Clapton studio classes are superb!
Some of the best workouts I’ve done in a very long time, lovely staff :)
