"Best gym on the Hill"
The gym appears to be in transition recently (I hope) following equipment swaps - several of which seem to have caught the members by surprise. After a few months, we’re still waiting to see what is going to fill obvious holes. Turnaround times on repairs/replacements could also use improvement. The staff is usually helpful.
My favorite part of Balance Gym Capitol Hill is spin classes with Carly. Boutique spin studio quality included at gym membership price. These are intense, 45-minute rhythm rides with great music and professional instruction. Carly gets to know her classes and has a strong following of loyal attendees. 10/10 would recommend.
This gym has been my home for training and getting a workout in for years. The facilities are top notch especially the large studio spaces but what stood out after touring other gyms in the area are the staff!!! Owen, Moses, Noel, Josh and Josh— they are so friendly it makes such a welcoming space to come. …
I love the low cost of balance gym and the access to so many various types of equipment. It has everything I need! A lot of the stuff needs replaced at this point though and I don’t see that happening anytime soon, so I guess you get what you pay for with that. The staff is super friendly though!
Best gym on the Hill. The front desk is always welcoming. The place is clean and well-kept. I’m happy that boxing classes are back on Monday with Owen. Like to run ♂️ on treadmill and chill in steam room ♂️ afterwards. Indoor free Parking available. #hustleforthatmuscle …
Keeps winning best gym in DC and if you join, you'll know why. Nothing flashy, it's not a spa, it's about the fitness of their members and creative ways the gym deals with issues like the COVID-19 shutdown. I feel like I am part of a community, more than just a gym membership.
I went here due to the fact that it is also a luggage drop and store in D.C. for when you are between hotel and airport. It allowed us to drop off our luggage after our checkout and still get to do additional touring of D.C. while not worrying about our luggage. Very useful.
I've had a truly exceptional experience at Balance Gym Capitol Hill. I've been a member for over a year, and I visit between 2-5 times per week. The staff are friendly and personable. The gym is clean and I rarely experience difficulty with
I thoroughly enjoy how clean the gym is every single time I visit. Which is an important factor. Staff is friendly. Easy check in. I try to come during off peak hours - gym is on the smaller side so machines are not readily available during
My colleague and I started taking body pump classes every Thursday with Julie, and really have gotten into it. I’ve taken a body pump class in the past at another gym and did not have a good experience, so going into this class at first was
My wife and I have been going to spin and bootcamp class with Carly, a Balance Gym Capitol Hill trainer, for more than 2 years and it's been superb. Her positive outlook combined with deep knowledge of spin and physical performance make her
Three floors of terrific workout equipment, clean bathrooms and every piece of cardio equipment for every kind of workout. I wandered in here a recent rainy Sunday and was able to do a HIIT-style workout and play with the wide selection of
Not a great experience from the start. My first class was canceled at the time it was supposed to start. No notice of the cancelation via email, msg, or call. I have no access to the balance app to book a class on my own or get information
Really nice neighborhood gym with everything you’d need, also not that crowded. Was going strong for 3 months until I had some things stolen in between sets to include headphones. Tracked the headphones to Virginia that night, then back at
Update: SHADY practices when it comes to cancellation. Been trying to get a hold of someone to cancel my membership for nearly two weeks and keep getting sent in circles. Finally had to tell my card to block their transactions. Definitely
I've been a member since January. This is probably one of the best facilities I've belonged to anywhere. First, the value – roughly averaging out to $2 per day in a month – is unbeatable. Second, the equipment and amenities are top notch,
It’s a full, basic gym. The price is a bit too high at this location - they should let you pay less for single gym access so we aren’t subsidizing salt water pools on the other side of town when this location is basically a cleaner planet
I've been a member now for 6 months, having migrated from the old Capitol Hill Results, more recently acquired by Sport & Health. Balance is a much smaller, more compact gym than Results/S&H, but it has essentially the same equipment and
I've been a member for 4+ years and wouldn't think of changing to a new location. It's a great, clean, low-key gym with excellent staff and equipment. There's none of the flashy nonsense that you get at bigger corporate gyms in the area.
Balance Gym on Capitol Hill is easily one of the best gyms I have visited. It offers an array of classes and lots of space and machines for individual training. It caters to all levels of fitness. It is clean and the staff is friendly. I
This gym is super inclusive in the front desk staff is absolutely. myself and co-worker had the pleasure of going on a tour with Noel who showed us everything that we need to know about the gym. the equipment is maintained well it looks
EDIT: I was surprised how pleasant it was given the outdated rating. Staff here are very friendly and helpful. They had everything I need at a really great price. I need plenty of free weights, cardio, and some fixed weight machines. So
It's a great gym in a small, but really well utilized space and a really good amount of equipment. I've never really felt like all of the machines/benches are busy and I've been going here for about a year now. Only issue with it is the
Been a member for 6 months now and I really enjoy this gym! I can always find a machine or a space to do my workouts and Karina and Josh at the front desk are super welcoming. All the staff here do a great job & I appreciate the effort
Balance isnt perfect but neither is the concept of "balance". Relative to the rest of the duds (other gyms) in the city balance will offer higher quality on all accords. Even the trainers appear to be in the know. Front desk are always
Had no issues the first few months and the price was right, but one day I went to the locker room after finishing my workout to find the door of the locker I was using was ripped off its hinges and my wallet had been stolen. The thief
This gym regularly doesn’t open on time. It regularly opens an hour or more later than it should and never once has anyone on staff explained why or apologized for the inconvenience for those that arrive early in the day. Unbelievably
Decent gym layout, good classes (and excellent instructors), very overpriced, rude front desk staff. Pricing is very opaque. At the end of the day, you're not really getting any more here than at any chain gym. It’s fine, not great.
Very unclear membership terms. Charged for 2 extra months after cancelation and were unhelpful during phone call. Facility is nice but customer service is poor and management is rude. Many better gyms out there would not recommend.
If you're feeling unsure about starting to workout or attend classes, you've come to the right place. At Balance Gym, you're not alone. Taking your first class or walking into the gym can be intimidating but myself and my talented
Incredible staff, good location near the metro, some parts of the gym could use a repair - it’s an older building and the A/C is on the fritz. Otherwise a great gym full of nice people and lots of good equipment and class options.
Just a quick note of the highest praise for the team at Balance. Everyone is wonderful. If you're looking for an excellent trainer, Eric M. has been a fantastic guide for me. I can't recommend him enough!
Balance Gym (Capitol Hill) has been my gym for over 4 years. Its a great gym. I like the fact that there are separate rooms/areas for different workouts. It makes it feel less crowded/overwhelming.
Great gym w a ton of equipment. ton of cardio machines free weights racks and literally everything. Only critique is sauna isnt hot enough. Below 180 F today on max.
Could not reccomend a gym less. Staff overcharged me and tried stonewalling me when I sought a refund. I'm locked in for a year, but you can still save yourself
Great gym. Post COVID they are adding new machines and weights. Place is always kept clean. Manager and front desk staff are very kind too!
Great gym. I go in the mornings or in the middle of the day and never have trouble using the equipment I want/having space to workout.
There’s always something leaking or broken. The place smells bad. One smith machine, and it doesn’t even go all the way down.
This is a pretty blah and average gym at best. The equipment is old and there's a poor selection overall. Pull-down bars have
Excellent gym with lots of equipment in a good location. Really appreciate the extensive hours as well.
