We dined here tonight. We were shown to our table with hardly any welcome at all and did not get any menus given to us. (If we wanted to order by phone we would have ordered Uber eats at home). At least give us a choice of a menu or order by phone! We sat down and immediately were freezing. We were uncomfortably cold the whole time. We ordered a Parma and 2 calamari. Our daughter was given her Parma then it took at least 25 minutes to get our calamari. Our dinners included salad which was just a bunch of mixed lettuce in dressing slapped on the plate with no other ingredients. The sauce was also just slapped on the plate. We left soon after and went to another pub for dessert as we didn’t want to risk it. Our daughter recommended this pub as she goes there often for work lunches. She was highly embarrassed at the recommendation. I’m hoping it was just a one off and you do normally hire enough staff to cope with the amount of diners as it was quite full.

Had the most fabulous evening celebrating my nieces 21st in the Jackson’s Bar, at the Ball Court. The functions Coordinator Kim is an asset to the hotel, she was super efficient, professional and communication was brilliant through out the planing and again on the evening of event. The food was amazing and everyone loved the grazing table and platters. We had our own Bar staff for the event, Jill and Tegan were so friendly, attentive and worked so hard all evening, they couldn’t do enough for us. If you are thinking of hosting a party / event here - I definitely recommend it. Especially any parents looking for a professional and responsible venue for an 18th or 21st. Having our own Security Guard appointed for the evening was such a brilliant inclusion and took the pressure off. Sam was fantastic! Thank you to Kim, Jill, Tegan and Sam and kitchen crew, for helping us celebrate Saffs 21st, stress free and fun!!!

i made a reservation for Saturday 8th may and was disappointed in the fact that i wasn’t told that the bistro area wasn’t available due to private functions in that area. We were seated in the bar area. As i am short, i found it a pain sitting on a bar stool. i ordered the chicken parma. it was just ok. the chicken was dry. one of my daughters ordered the porterhouse steak and she said it was ok too. It was also disappointing that there were no chef special as well. The staff were nice and the pricing was good value. Hopefully if i come back i will be able to enjoy myself better in the bistro area. i just think that if people are making a booking and if the bistro area is unavailable let people know that they will be seated in the bar area.

Thank you so much for making our daughter's first birthday party such a memorable day, for all the right reasons! The Jackson Room was the perfect space for our party. From the first point of contact everything was so easy, from booking the venue to organising food and arranging for external providers to drop off decorations, cake and entertainment for the little ones. The staff on the day were fantastic! Attentive, professional and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious too! The grazing table looked fantastic and was fresh and delicious and the hot canapes and sandwiches were devoured by our guests. We received so many compliments from our guests, thank you for making our event a great one!

Rang ahead and asked if we needed to book. Man said no come down and be a walk in. We thought great! Came down and the bloke who seated us made us feel like idiots for coming down without a booking as they were full. He didn't even show us where to go even though it was very clear we had never been before. He could've been alot more welcoming and just said we could sit in the beer garden (which was fine by us) instead of making out it was the worst option in the world. The garlic bread wasn't toasted properly. Parma was delicious, and I enjoyed my drink.

Typical bogan pub, with TAB, pool table and a stack of tradies. Staff are mostly friendly. Good for a quick beer. Meals have usually been good, particularly the chips and the pizza. Last time we were ate there, both our parmas were undercooked. To the kitchen's credit, they apologised and ensured we didn't pay. There are some good wines in the wine bar, but overpriced. I also had a strange experience when they demanded I pay for a friend of ours drinks (I hadn't ordered them). I paid but it turns out they did too! Hit and miss overall, but still fun.

Why would anyone want to go out to order off an app. If I wanted that I wouldn't have brought my wife and could have done that from the couch. Obviously the new owners enjoy going to the supermarket and scanning their items and packing their bag as this is what they expect you to do at this establishment. What happened to the human connection when you go out and asking for recommendations on food and drinks. It is a severe inconvenience to order drinks and food of an app. I regret supporting this restuarant during covid! I won't be back

Had my daughters 21st party in the Jackson's room on Saturday night. I would like to thank all staff involved for their amazing service and help through the whole night. A special thanks to Paul for all your help setting up and cleaning up and even taking things to my car. Thank you to Jessica for getting approval for a special event surprise for my daughter that just topped the night off. I have held a number of events at the Ballcourt but Saturday nights service by the staff was exceptional. Highly recommended booking an event there.

Awesome staff great venue great food. Always looked forward to Monday steak day with the family and Wednesday Parmi day. We have supported the venue thru the tough times. Disappointed to see the changes with the new ownership of the country pub. “We aren’t in the city.” Great business model of stack them high n sell them low worked for previous owners with a sizeable turn over. Sadly due to your increased prices, you have forced an affordable family night out unaffordable. We will be looking elsewhere for that country value. ☹️Steve☹️

The ball.court dining area was clean and spacious. First time visitor to the hotel. Very impressed, will be back. Not a huge selection of meals but a decent selection. Ordering can be done at the table with your phone or at the cash register. Meals are brought out to table. Reasonable prices and meals are a decent size. We were a group of 6, fish and chips 1piece of fried fish, chips and very fresh salad; steak, chips, salad; burger; calamari very tender, spaghetti Bolognese, garlic bread, chicken schnitzel. All cleaned our plates.

The food was delicious and well worth the drive from Beaumaris to Sunbury. I had the Wagu Beef Burger which was the tastiest burger I have had for a long time. My Son-in-Law had a Steak Sandwich which was equally delicious as were the accompanying chips. My wife had the Risotto which was fantastic and my daughter had pasta Carbonara which was also delicious. The serving size was just right and the staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this venue to all my friends and intend to return.

This is my favorite place to relax and have a drink, watch sports, grab a bite to eat. Ball Court doesn’t have just the standard beers & bar foods. They have a great food menu with fantastic pizzas (incl. GF), chkn parm, steaks, appetizers, etc. The service is the very best along with many sitting arrangements (restaurant, bar, wine bar, pool tables, outdoor courtyard, etc.) can handle small or large groups. I can’t wait until I can get back to have my usual ‘White Rabbit - Dark Ale’

We had a late reservation and unfortunately the chef rushed and ruined our order, the steak was undercooked and cold (the butter wouldn't even melt on it!) And the sauce on the parma just tasted like straight rich tomato paste which overtook everything. Even the cheesy garlic bread was unevenly cooked. Very disappointing. But the staff were really lovely and apologetic, we felt for them trying to cover for the chef when their service had been great.

Great place to eat! The food is always lovely and the event spaces here are incredible! Event manager Kim has been incredible when planning any event , so accommodating & quick to find a solution or give a new idea!! Definitely recommend the ball court did events and to dine in

I called today around 4pm to confirm when the kitchen was open, I was told 4pm - 10pm. When we showed up at 6.30pm the kitchen was boarded up and we were told no food was available as the kitchen was closed. Normally this pub is great but wish they actually thought about my question before giving the wrong answer. How did their staff not know they were doing renovations?

A great Hotel in Sunbury. Attended a birthday party this week. Nice location, ample parking across the streets, nice bar, great lovely and friendly staff always smiling and serving, nice food, well maintained washrooms and so on. Highly recommended. Only thing to point out is to have some tongs when the hotel serves dishes like sushi.

We had a function there for my mum's last wish and it was the worst venue for the function as the food we ordered was incorrect and didn't cater for people with allergies, lack of staff and took advantage of a organisation that grants people wishes when they have terminal cancer. The music didn't work and they didn't even try to rectify it, the worst venue and shocking communication from the manger .

Chef trys to wizz up food with wrong herbs and spices. Who puts chinese five spice on a a chicken parma??. And pre cooks them and serves only when patrons enter premises. Old stale food, sitting in food warmer waiting for new peeps to come in and think its cooked fresh.... Should be ashamed you serve food to cut your own costs. -10 rating..

We went back to the Ballcourt after a hiatus. The new fit out enticed us back. We were delighted with Suzanne or T as she is known ! Her service was friendly and helpful not to mention the delicious food ! I had a vegetarian salad and the man had fish and chips! Very satisfying with a great price point! Have not been to the Ball Court since it’s revamp etc some time ago. Came in tonight and had the sliders along with wedges. The sliders were nice but tiny (smaller than any others I’ve ever had), the wedges were over seasoned and also seemed to have been cooked in oil that was too cold. (Oil logged). Did not feel that my meal was nice nor value for money. Left feeling very disappointed.

My husband and I had the Sunday Roast with bottomless sides (beef). The best part of my meal was the White Chocolate Martini I ordered. The gravy was not very nice and ruined the beef which was half decent. The roast veggies were completely plain, void of any flavour or even salt and pepper. The service was good and portion size great but the sides and gravy left us disappointed.

I used to love the food of the ball court. We visited recently hoping to have the delicious sun dried tomato pumpkin and feta pizza. Total disappointment to find out they changed owners and not only the pizza is way more expensive, the tomatoes are not sun dried, the feta is barely on it, the base is extremely thin too. There’s not many options in the menu anymore.

Great place with excellent cocktails and their calamari entree is super delish. Disappointed that the kitchen closed at 8:30pm on a Friday night. We weren’t informed and our reservation was at 7:30pm. By the time we ordered and enjoyed cocktails and entrees it was 8:45 and we were out of luck for main courses. We had to improvise; got maccas and continued on

We loved the experience such an affordable and memorable way to celebrate my partners birthday. This was also a fantastic way to unwind and relax after a busy week.The food was of great quality and perfect portions.We loved the mini burgers and fresh aioli for the calamari cooked to perfection.

We had a 30th birthday in the beergarden and the team were so wonderful to work with. Paige in particular was our main staff member contact- she remembered individuals drink orders and was an amazing host! Food was good Drinks were cold Wine bar beer garden was perfect- under cover and outside greenery Would organise events here again :)

Five of the seven meals we ordered were ok. Not exceptional but the “steak sanga” was something else. It was tough sliced beef in a Turkish roll which was so dry I couldn’t puncture it with my fork or cut it with a steak knife and no salad. Just a basic steak Sanger from the fish and chip shop up the street would have been way better.

We booked the winter igloos for our anniversary and it was the perfect night! Hot food, flowing drinks and service with a smile and care for our comfort. Brilliant idea for any occasion, we will be back before the igloos are packed away for summer!

Ate here on Sunday the 31st March while passing through town, and it was pretty good. Boy and I both went simple and had the steak and it was great. Cooked well and actually seasoned, which is unfortunately uncommon I find. Ambience is a bit noisy for my liking, so I dropped a star there, harsh critic and all.

The food and atmosphere were absolutely fantastic. I've never eatern chilli Prawns before but tasted my hubby's and ended up eating 2. They were a bit hot but very easy to eat. Hubby couldn't stop talking about them. I had the shanks, wow unreal. All meals were the best. Definitely worth going back.

The food was great, but it shows poor management when there’s only one waiter in a pub full of people. Our table alone was 14 the place was packed. Lucky for us our waiter JUAN was literally running up and down making sure everyone was ok. Thanks mate you’re the best, the 5 starts are ALL for you.

Awesome food, great experienced staff were very kind and friendly and very professional in the way they dealt with their customers. Loved the Monday deal of buy a drink and get any meal on their Bar menu for $10, it was a great experience. Family loved it and we all look forward to our next visit.

I enjoy this place so much and wish my Grandfather was still around to enjoy it with him. Was his watering hole. The Staff are magnificent and always enjoy playing pool with my son and others. Just a great place with a enjoying atmosphere.

Thank you to Paul and his team who looked after us on very busy Boxing night - Paul, particularly! Helped us have a pleasant evening with thoughtful and supportive service. Food was average, although steak was good. Drinks well priced. Certainly worth another visit when bistro is open.

Very nice place. Squid was under cooked, however were really nice about it and listened to our complaint, offered a new plate but we declined so they took it off the bill. Very lovely staff, handling our constructive criticism politely and resolving it past our expectations, thank you.

New steak area up the back of the restaurant it great and exactly what Sunbury needs. Surprisingly good selection of craft beers with some rare finds. Pizza is also great with the acoustic sessions on the weekend. Probably underrated in town but doubt it will be that way for long.

It is a great place to catch up with people. There is a pub side and a wine side so there is 2 different atmospheres and it is a great place if you want a little drink or a big drink. The food is the best and the portions are a great size and there is live music every sunday.

After hosting our engagement party at the Ball Court we have nothing but positive things to say about the venue and team. They made the planning of the event so easy, and we had so many compliments on the food! Would highly recommend anyone to host their next function there.

We held a small 21st birthday party at the Ball Court Hotel last weekend. The service was great from when we first booked the party to the actual night. The food and drinks were good and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend for a similar party or get together …

We rolled in just when the kitchen was about to close but rather than turn us away they were more than happy to take our order and we had a great meal turn up quickly with great service from Juan. Big thanks to the kitchen staff as well - we really appreciated the effort.

We were in the area and thought we would try the wine bar for lunch. The venue itself wasn't bad but the food was below standard.. Arancini balls were OK but the Moroccan chicken was overcooked and dry and the Cajun cauliflower was next to tasteless. Better places around

I had the Lamb Shanks for dinner and they were delicious. The meat were so tender. Very enjoyable. My waitress Hollie was extremely polite, helpful and always smiling. 5 stars

Best pub in Sunbury. Whether you want a quiet dinner in the wine Bar or to be amongst it all in the sports bar. With the same menu across all eating areas and awesome weekday specials. The staff are lovely and the food is outstanding. Best value for money in Sunbury.

Wine bar is nice with good atmosphere, friendly staff, Sunday music session if you're up for it, although I haven't been in the bar side. One of the things that would benefit improving is the menu, very basic, very limited options.

We had a vegetarian dish (rice) and a pie and mash meal plus 2 kids meals. All delicious and … kids eat FREE Sundays which is a huge savings. Great atmosphere and lovely staff.

Very rude and unprofessional staff , waitress was drunk than patrons . She took our plates without asking , we did't finish our meals . I complaint to bar and manager they ignored and later i say same waitress drinking more wine .

Good variety of beers and ciders on tap. Big range of wine by the glass or buy full bottle to drink there or to take home. On Sunday afternoons there is a band /live entertainment. Some vegan options. Good food. Friendly staff.

We went with friends for a Parma night. The service was great and so was the food. The chicken parmigiana was fresh, delicious and enormous! Great place to go with family or with friends. Staff is lovely and very helpful.

Food was terrible. Burnt bun on the steak sanga, meat was stir-fry strip's (not actual steak) and the chips were freezing cold. Service was very slow....40 mins for a burger and steak sandwich. I won't be rushing back.

Awesome work one first day of service. Had a chicken Parma which was juicy and chips were perfectly cooked. Front of house staff were very helpful not pushy. Front of house also made you feel like you were at home.

Great ambience. Needs more local beers on tap. To answer the questions to what beers? The ball court used to have 1-2 new beers on tap each month on rotation. An example of a great local brewery is Holgate.

Perfect steak for just $24, and beautiful service from Terzann. Best in Sunbury (and surrounds) by a country mile. We’ll be back every week! Stopped by the bottleshop after and got great service there too.

The steak night here is fantastic! $24 for a 300g porterhouse is insanely good value and not only that but tonight both steaks my table ordered were cooked to absolute perfection.

Group of us tried to eat dinner here friday night. Food inedible, servers didn't even bother to ask why food on plates not touched. Better places to eat in Sunbury, don't bother.

My experience not even worth 1 start , Sunday roast, no choice just venison, and an hour and half wait for two other meals off the menu. Don't waist your time and effort.

Attended my son in laws 50th birthday celebration with family on Saturday 11th March. Nice environment, large and well set out, but something in the kitchen went awry

Love this place. As a musician who plays here and is able to observe, the service and friendly environment is why you stay.
