Turning 30 (last year) and being in a long-term relationship means that I'm starting to judge my evening destinations less on the cheap price of the well (aka bottom-of-the-barrel) drinks or the volume of the music and more on friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the establishment. Bar 1 isn't a place to party, its a place to chill. The drinks are good, with most being appropriately priced (though a few seem high), and always something on a special. The music is fun but it doesn't deafen your ears. There are a mix of bar games to entertain you. There are regular activities to give you a reason to come any night. The patio is one of the nicest, if not nicest, of all the Arizona "Gay" Bars. It won't ever have a massive crowd like at BS West or Charlies, but it epitomizes the quiet night out that is becoming more and more my preferred definition of a night out.

Well I loved this place till a few weeks ago, myself and a friend of mine would go every Wednesday because the bar tender was great, nice, and we could get well priced drinks. People there were fun and the crowd had variety after 9. Well sadly we will never be going back. Found out that a bartender that we liked socializing with and that made this bar better was fired because an old geezer said something bad to the owner and was proud to have gotten this bartender fired because they had bent a rule of half priced drink with the event on Wednesday and, that quite frankly is a very poor rule to have. The biggest reason we went was because of the bartender and sad to say I don't want to be serviced by such a negative person or place who can't look past some simple rules and get rid of some of the best bartenders I have been serviced by.

This bar has a lot of good qualities. Nice draft beer selection, it's really pretty. Been there multiple times. Last time i was there david the bartender served me a beer, it was delicious. I ordered another and asked him who made it "i dont know it's $6". Rude. I figured he was busy. Let it go. Went back tonight and was sitting in a barstool on his side of the bar. I was laughing and i guess my elbow bumped some girl behind me. David tells me "me watch out, you bumped somebody". I felt un-welcomed and got up and went outside. The girl i bumped into asked me to sit with her so she clearly was not offended. I went back and told david " look you were rude to me last time i was here and now this". He rolled his eye's, flipped his hair and said "sorry you feel that way" and walked off. Ruined my night and i went home.

Visually looks like a bar that the owner had no idea what to do, so they threw up every idea imaginable hoping something would work. There are two pool tables when you first walk in that cannot be used because the long lines at the bar back up right next to it. There is a tiny dart room that cannot be used because the space is too small. They are video screens on the ceiling everywhere, Vegas style lights and signs and karaoke and jukebox and club music. Is it a lounge? A pool hall? A video bar? A dance club? Just so much stuff in a small space so everyone walks around bumping into one another. Bartenders seem nice but are so slow with drinks. Advice would be “less is more” and focus on turning out drinks faster.

Best LGBTQIA+ bar in town! This is a relaxed lounge bar. It is easy to strike up a conversation and the people are very friendly. The most crowded night is Thursday where they have a 2x1 drinks (tip accordingly) so it is expected to have long wait times for a drink. The staff is super friendly, straight people go there too and no one bothers them. The patio is super cute and the setting is made so people would interact with each other. If you order food, you can take it in, just absolutely no outside drinks allowed. 0% tolerance to predatory behaviour, and this is the reason as to why people from all shades and colors of the prefer this bar upon others.

This is the cutest bar I've ever been to. The atmosphere is welcoming and fun, the drinks are AMAZING and cheap! And there are so many ways to spend your evening. They have a couple pinball machines and a lounge area, a gorgeous outdoor patio, it's not huge, but there is still bar service and adorable seating. The door man is very kind and helpful and the staff have amazing service. They know their drinks and they know how to party! There is also darts and pool if that's more your scene and there is quite s bit of seating the the bar itself. If your looking for a fun and exciting bar experience, I strongly reccomend Bar1. Bring friends and get home safe!

Great place. Wonderful friendly staff. Nice ambiance. Delicious drinks. Very reasonably priced. They have pool tables, TV's throughout the bar, a outside patio. Bathroom was a little small but CLEAN. I give them props for their beautiful decor, even in the bathrooms. Patrons were a diverse mixture and very friendly. I cannot stress how professional and friendly the staff were. Their attentative service and conduct must be commended. I visited on a Sunday evening and closed the place, it was packed the entire time. Met some wonderful people there.

I always come here for the Jukebox, and came in today (thursday) for my birthday. I was told they turned off the Juke Box bc they don't like what other people play. I called a few weeks ago before my first visit and was told they don't turn off the jukebox, even on weekends. Also, I thought that the bar usually picks what kind of music is available? I just wanted to play some Lady Gaga and Britney tbh. I anticipated coming to Bar 1 all week for my birthday and drove over an hour to get here. Never again

A few not-so-great experiences kept me from coming in here for a while but am so glad that I came in with our group the other night. What a great night.... the bar staff were super helpful and so very friendly, all of the customers were really friendly. Atmosphere was great too I am glad that they still have that awesome patio with access to bar without leaving. always liked the the door guy, he does security and is always very friendly. I've always liked this places location and stylish setting

This little bar was one of my favorite stops during my visit to Phoenix. What made it great was the complete unexpected charm of the bar. While I hear it’s not in a great area, we were close and decided to stop in. From the exterior it looked like any other dive bar but when you walk inside it’s not divey at all. It’s very trendy, clean, comfortable, good music, excellent service, pool tables... I was quite surprised. If I lived close, this would be a common hangout for me.

It was faster for me to go home and get a beer out of my refrigerator than to wait at the bar. Had I stayed, I would have preordered my tombstone with the epitaph, “Died waiting for his drink”. What I found most mind boggling is they take your temperature, spray you with sanitizer, then pack you in like sardines and don’t require masks. Either be cautious or don’t, you can’t have both. If you decide to go on the patio, expect to come home smelling like an ashtray.

Great local bar with amazing happy hour specials. Plenty of room inside at the bar, on the couches, or at the tables. Play pinball, billiards, or your favorite music. Smokers heaven outdoors with fixed tables and cushioned bench seats. While outside enjoy the swamp coolers and AC venting under large umbrellas. In the winter, start warm under the heat lamps. Recently upgraded bathrooms and expanded inside seating make it the best bar in town for your next event.

They needed a bar back on staff to help clean the glassware from every dirty table that had full ashtrays and sticky tops with glasses everywhere. Instead the bartender just starting pour drinks into plastic cups with no attempt to retrieve or concern that the bar and the even worse patio was a mess. Other than that loved the jukebox selections, good people and good vibes just need to be.more staff with a dishwasher/bar back and.stop serving in plastic cups.

Great neighborhood spot to chill at! Pool tables & darts for your entertainment purposes! They have so many specialty drinks for you to choose from, including jello shots& cherry bombs as well as extensive happy hour times to take part in. Staff is great and attentive! Can't go wrong if you want a kick back with some friends or jus a date night with that special someone. Its my go to bar spot of choice, that's for sure!

I Went here on a Tuesday night. This is a great neighborhood bar. I took a seat in the back on one of the leather sofas. I caught up with some old friends. The music was loud enough to enjoy but not so loud that we couldn't hear each other. The atmosphere was perfect to meet other locals. And it looks like this place turns it up on the weekends. Definitely have to check that out.

There is something I absolutely love about this Awesome neighborhood bar. They have plenty of seating options, a very large bar top, several tables, a long narrow outdoor patio, and even a cozy lounge area. Drinks are strong and cheap, service is always good, throw in a couple pool tables and some friendly down to earth patrons and you have a winning combination.

I love this bar! The service and drink specials are great. My only complaint….they have the worst soda water out of all the gay bars. If you order a vodka soda, it will be flat. More like a vodka water. Vodka soda is my go to drink, but I hate ordering it here because it always disappoints. It has been this way for years. Otherwise, it’s a solid bar.

I ordered one drink after waiting 10mins with three other people on a Tuesday night and didn't get asked if I wanted another drink after nearly 20mins. I suspect the only reason was I was a person of color in a room full of white people who came in after me and got served. Don't waste your money here. Besides being dead the bartenders are racist.

Its okay. Maybe I didn't go on a very busy night but if it was more lively, it would have been great. Nice lounge places to sit and loved the europop being played. All the drinks are doubles so, you've been warned. Definite bang for your buck. Just not if it's your second stop because then you can't finish your drink.

Delicious drinks, good, strong and flavorful. I like the vibe and the ambiance They always have good music playing, the barman/woman always attentive to your requests. And generally they have really classy people there, always someone interesting to talk to. Just a great local place for a fun and casual drink night

Be careful. Re-opened on 6/10/20. Crowded and customers not social distancing. Only 2 people with masks. No enforcement. Update: been to Bar 1 three times this week. Developed all Covid symptoms 3 days ago. Had nasal swab but results pending. 6/20/20 Saturday- Covid test comeback detected which is positive

A small nested spot for playing a little pool and singing karaoke. Go with friends as there will be nights no one is doing karaoke. If you are looking to dance, I would not recommend this place and not a lot of pool tables so if billiard is the objective I would seek other accommodations.

I went in woth my daughter and sister. We had a grewt time, the owner Todd was so nice and accommodating. The bartender Prissy made the most delicious FRESH SQUEEZED MARGARITAS! We just love coming here. Everyones so nice and its a great atmosphere. Plus the drinks are a great deal!

Ok I'm a straight female but I love coming to Bar 1 for drinks and to socialize with people. They serve great drinks the bartenders are cute and I love their security guard he's just the nicest guy in Phoenix. This is a great bar to have a great time gay or straight.

Gay video bar. Not very cruisey but very clichey. I've never had a bad time here but I could see how some queens would complain. They have pool tables and and outdoor area that are both great. The staff is really nice here and the drinks are fair priced.

I little off the beaten path, but worth the detour. It has the snazziness of a gay bar, but retains certain elements of a dive bar. Fairly diverse crowd. Prices are right. Check out the patio, especially during the cooler months.

The prices are very good, the drinks are tasty and plenty. The atmosphere is festive and Bartenders are very friendly. I have been back a couple of times and it has been very much the same , so I highly recommend this place.

Very busy "gay" bar. There were hundreds of men, probably about 95% Male to 5% Female. This place has a fun, hip, live D.J. with friendly staff & bartenders. Everyone was having a great time.

I was unaware that this cozy bar was geared towards a demographic that as a heterosexual woman do not relate. With that said it was a cool vibe with good music and inexpensive cocktails.

The best Gay Video Bar is Phoenix!!! I love this place and they make the best hand crafted drinks. I always get the Mixed Berry Vodka Lemonade. Ask for extra Lemons.

It was my friends 24th birthday unfortunately due to covid-19 it made it difficult however bar one made it the best it could be so thank you so much we will be back!
