EXPENSIVE AND PAINFUL. While visiting Toronto from Europe I thought I'd lost a filling. I have a wonderful dentist in Nova Scotia and perfect teeth of which I keep exceptional care. I was happy to get the appointment fast but the dentist seemed nervous and kept asking his assistant (presumably not a dentist) to confirm his observations. I honestly thought he was a student dentist. He wasn't confident even after a thorough physical examination so he did 4 Xrays (cost: $47). He checked, double and triple checked everything and concluded I needed no work. That cost $90. Why couldn't he tell by looking at my teeth that I hadn't lost a filling? Then the real horror began. The hygienist literally measured every tooth and entered the information into a computer, did all kinds of weird examinations (palpation of face and neck, etc.). I reminded her I was only visiting the city and unlikely ever to return to this dentist office. "It's protocol" she said. I had no choice. While I sat imprisoned in the chair she lectured me on what I should and shouldn't do, flossing technique, brushing technique, angles of the toothbrush, the whole nine yards, as if I were in elementary school. When the cleaning finally began, a good 40 minutes later, she used a torture device, a small high-pitched drill that felt like a sand-grinder on my gums. I've had probably 60 cleanings in my life and never had such an awful experience. I kept telling her it was causing pain and she blamed me for having allegedly puffy gums. When I spat out it was nothing but blood and I noticed the tools she was using were dribbled with my blood. She said she could get the dentist to freeze my mouth and I thought, "Are you crazy? Freeze my entire mouth for a cleaning?" She wouldn't let me relax my jaw either and instead of giving me occasional breaks I had to raise my hand and stop her. She forgot to floss my teeth, but by now we were approaching noon and she only slightly polished my teeth (she charged a half unit for about a minute of work). The bill for a checkup and cleaning: $320 after almost 2 hours of hell. They did give me an uninsured discount - yay.

I made an appointment with Bathurst Dupont Dental after a recommendation of a friend and after reading online reviews. I had no acute pain or immediate need of a dentist, but was looking for regular meetings for a number of fillings and dental cleaning procedures. There are a few factors I was looking for, such as formal qualifications, nice manners and communication, high practice standards and technology. I'm briefly commenting on each of these below based on my experience. I had a chance to interact with Dr Matthew Dang, hygienist Jenna, and Angie at the front office, so the review directly (or indirectly) refers to them and the service they have provided. Being a graduate of the U of T's Faculty of Dentistry, I had little doubt about the formal training and knowledge of Dr Dang. I was more positively inclined towards the doctor due to his efforts for professional development to keep up to date with new techniques and treatments, as well as his knowledge transfer activities, including teaching pre-clinicals to younger dental students and serving as mentor to dental students at U of T. During my visits, the doctor demonstrated a mature professional that was willing to provide information, discuss options and answer any of my questions. He was also open and honest about prices and tried to provide a treatment plan that matches my health plan and needs. The dental office was well organised, very clean, and welcoming. The staff was polite, efficient, friendly and respectful. There are appointment reminders sent for upcoming appointments and the doctor was always punctual, minimizing waiting times. As expected, the office maintains a patient's profile information for subsequent meetings making it easy to communicate any issues. Overall, Dr Matthew Dang, his staff and dental office certainly met my needs and expectations for dental services. I will be coming back for regular visits and/or when there is need, and I'll be recommending their dental service to friends and family.

My previous dentist (in Montreal) was terrible so I took time to read several reviews before choosing my dentist in Toronto. Two years ago, I had a filling coming out (from my previous dentist) and Matthew could take me in on short notice. He was very gentle and I had the impression he took the time to do proper work. When returning, I saw Jane for a comprehensive check up and she also was very gentle and not on a rush (compared to my Montreal dentist). I needed a cavity filled, and she added the resin very tiny bits at a time. They also checked a lot of things that former dentist didn't (gum recession, gum's pocket depth, ...). Their staff is also awesome. The person in charge of x-rays would run to take the uncomfortable sensor out of my mouth as soon as the x-ray was done. I would recommend these dentists by far over any other I had before.

Bathurst Dupont Dental has been taking care of my family for the last 3 years and we couldn't be happier. Dr. Dang and Dr. Yip are very knowledgeable dentists and I always trust their recommendations. At my last dental office, it always felt like a cash grab and they were just trying to gouge your pockets with unnecessary procedures. I got referred here by a co-worker, and right away I felt like the staff here truly care about you and the dentists put the patient first. I have a severe phobia of dentists, and it can be a terrible experience for everyone involved! Dr. Dang and Dr. Yip are always very patient with me and explain exactly what they are doing. They are a busy dental office, so I really appreciate the level of care that they are able to give me. Definitely will NOT be changing dentists ever again.

I first met Dr. Dang while working down the street, it must have been 2007-2008 or so. He was taking over for an older doctor upstairs from the current location. His gentle demeanor mixed with a confident expertise made it an easy switch from my prior dentist, but I should confess I was a 27yr old still visiting his pediatric dental clinic! Fast forward to present day, and Dr. Dang, Mila, Amelia and Melissa have all made my 2-3 visit per year pleasant, easy, enjoyable (yes, enjoyable) and while I no longer work right in the area, and live further away, I have NO reason to leave this wonderful team. Consider yourself lucky if you get to spend the same 15 yrs I have so far with this team.

My whole family goes to Dr. Matt, he's so great and patient with us! He is honest with his advice and not trying to take as much money from you just because you have insurance! I admire his professionalism, knowledge and integrity. I notice my previous dentists lack those traits in downtown :/ im from up North but I would drive all the way here to see the coolest dentist in town :) my kids (4 and 6) years old love him as he also can talk to kids and calm them down while doing a filling. Because of Matt and his lovely wife Jane, my kids started following their dental routine at night too (flossing and brushing). Thank you dr. Matt and Jane!

The staff at Bathurst Dupont Dental are friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Dang always addresses any concerns I have and is always thorough with his exams, making sure I understand the procedure before he proceeds with any treatment. The hygienist is gentle with cleanings and my teeth always feel so clean after, I love it! The office is clean and modern and it's nice that they bill my insurance directly so I don't have to worry about anything. Even though I've moved further away, I still go back to Dr. Dang's!! I recommend his practice to all my friends and family when they ask me to recommend a dentist.

Dr. Dang is easily the best dentist I have ever had. I've had plenty of different dentists see me over my whole life - I've had a lot of work done and Dr. Dang has a stand-out practice. He is incredibly kind, patient and takes the time to thoroughly explain exactly what he is going to do and how he is going to do it, which is really helpful. Not only that but he is really fast! I was referred to him during an emergency and I'm incredibly grateful. Emilia, at the front desk, is also incredibly nice, welcoming and organized and always gives me timely email appointment reminders. Highly recommend!!!!!!

Such a great office! Front staff is efficient and helpful, they dealt with my insurance directly and had no issues whatsoever. The dentist is super gentle and kind. What I like about Dr. Dang is that he takes the time to explain everything to me and is never pushy. All of my treatment here has been painless and pleasant. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the office is clean and modern. I was impressed that they went above and beyond to make me feel safe during covid, they had all these safety protocols in place and everyone in the office had proper PPE. Highly recommend to all!

Matthew and Jane are both amazing at what they do! I had terrible experiences at other dental offices that wanted to gauge me for money by doing shoddy work that required several appointments to fix. At Bathurst-Dupont Dental the experience was great even my first conversation with the receptionist. They are super nice and helpful! My first cleaning went super smooth and the work is so much better than I have ever had before. Any additional work is discussed with you in an honest manner and all options are put on the table. Definitely didn't feel pressured to do anything. Highly recommend!

I have been visiting Dr Dang and his team at Bathurst-Dupont Dental for a few years now and I have only excellent things to say. When I first started going there I was in desperate need of a dentist and decided to use google to find a random dentist. Boy am I glad I stumbled upon this office. Dr Dang is friendly and takes his time ensuring that I understand all his recommendations before he proceeds with his work. He is always available for my needs as I once had a tooth related emergency question and I decided to email him as it was on the weekend and he responded to my email promptly.

Sept 30, 2021: Today was my 1st visit to Bathurst-DuPont Dental and I am so pleased I decided to come to them!!! (My previous dentist retired) We were welcomed warmly and greeted by first name! All was very organized and almost fun, LOL! From X-Ray taking to teeth cleaning to explaining the current state of my teeth and post today teeth care feedback was great! I learned more about my teeth and will be taking better care of them. I am very, very pleased with the whole team at Bathurst-Dupont Dental! I am happy to make them part of my ‘Paty-Health-Care-Team!!!!!

Got referred to this office by a work friend because I didn't really like my family dentist and wanted to try some place new. They did a good job fixing my crown. I bring my two kids here for cleanings, although my wife is still at my old dentist. My girls LOVE the hygienists here, which wasn't the case before. My youngest had a tooth extraction, and Dr. Dang was so gentle with her. She wasn't afraid or crying or anything! Unreal. I was very impressed with him.

Dr. Matt Dang and his staff are ALWAYS very friendly and professional!!! I go for my regular checkups (every 3 months) and cleaning at this clinic and I'm super happy with my experience each time! I moved out to Whitby but I still make the one hour travel to downtown Toronto to my appointments because I don't want to switch my dentist :) This clinic is very modern and clean. I would definitely recommend my friends and family to visit this dental clinic.

Dr. Jane was very thorough on explaining my current situation in great detail, and addressed the issues comprehensively and in a timely manner. The office staff were also super friendly in setting up appointments and providing friendly reminders. I am very happy with the results and would certainly recommend.

Excellent dentist. I had a vicious cavity almost down to the root and Dr Dang worked hard to prevent me from needing a root canal. He really seemed to care. Also has a very soothing presence, and the dental hygienist I had was nice too, she let me know about my high-arched palate which set me on the path to fixing my nighttime mouth breathing which was having bad effects on my health.

Very good service, friendly wait staff. Went for an exam, x-ray, and cleaning. Doctor Dang was very quick and the hygienist did a great job, they definitely make the most of your time and offer a good service for a fair price. Would recommend for other university students looking for a trustworthy dentist that won't break the bank. Looking forward to many years with this office!

It was abundantly clear, even on a first visit, that this dentist cares and isn't out to squeeze you for cash. Dr. Dang is attentive to your history and conservative with treatment, which is especially important for those of us without insurance. Also, the assistant was super kind to me. 10/10 experience, and will be going back.

This is a great place to go take care of your teeth. The team was very professional examining and providing with solutions by priority. Dr. Jane Yip at Bathurst- Dupont is amazing, especially if you're the anxious type. Very thorough with explaining what needs to be done and definitely makes going to the dentist more bearable.

Always very friendly and efficient service. Only necessary treatment and interventions are advised. You aren't constantly being pushed to buy services (like in some other dental offices).
