I would not recommend this dental office for several reasons. First, let me start by saying that at first glance, this office seems like a fairly respectable place of business. I was treated well by the front desk staff and the dental team. The reason I will tell you to run for the hills is because of the quality of care I received. 1. The dentist did not wear a mask while working on my teeth so I laid, mouth-open beneath him as he chatted with his dental assistant while working above me. Gross beyond words and incredibly uncomfortable. 2. I’ve been here several times and almost each time, I’ve seen a new dental assistant who the dentist ends up training as we are going through the procedure. 3. I was given the responsibility to tell the dental staff that I was receiving composite fillings (which I did) even though the information was in my chart. The dental assistant neglected to tell the dentist (who apparently did not look at my chart before drilling into me) about my composite fillings which led to him drilling too much of my tooth away. She finally told him, he got upset (because he realized that now the damage had already been done) but still gave me the composite (tooth colored) fillings instead of the silver ones that would not have been as aesthetically pleasing but would have been the best course of action for the strength of my teeth. 4. After my treatment I went back to the office complaining of intense, acute pain. I was seen immediately, given a bite test (again, no mask) and told to come back if the pain persists. It did, so I went back. Again, I was seen immediately but offered nothing else in the way of assistance. 5. I went to another doctor after having to leave work in tears. My pain was so intense. I had to have an emergency root canal on the tooth I’d been complaining about (which they figured out in about 15 minutes). And then after getting x-rays and tests done told that I would likely need two more because so much of my tooth had been taken away for the fillings I’d been given. Thankfully, I haven’t yet had to have more than the one root canal done but am still experiencing pain in a couple spots. When you’re paying an arm and a leg for something, especially dental work, you want it done right. The first time. While everyone was nice, I don’t believe this doctor is competent. It’s your decision to make and with so many options, it’s probably best to not take a chance on someone who’s gotten it SO wrong before when it comes to your teeth. If you’ve ever had tooth pain, you know it is the WORST pain you can experience (and I’ve given birth to a child). Take my advice: find another dentist.

take your business elsewhere because they don't have it together. I went in with the referral for implants, and was supposed to return to my regular dentist to finish the procedure with the abutments and crowns. When it was time to uncover my implants they basically fought with me about not wanting to uncover the implants and not finish it. So after being fed up with it and annoyed with them I said okay fine just finish it I need it done by this day. They told me they could do that so we started the procedures. After the second procedure was done that's when they told me that the third procedure wouldn't be done until the day after I was going out of town for my wedding. But yet they had just told me that it would be done the day before, so they constantly go back on their word, I've had a bunch of Lies and when you say something about it they just say oh I never said that. I've been trying to get my permanent crowns for almost two months now, I've had to drive up there three separate times wasting my time and gas just for them to tell me that they made a mistake and they need to send it back to the lab to get it fixed and it'll be another two weeks. Not to mention this last time I waited three weeks and I ended up having to call them just to find out that my teeth were there just sitting there waiting and no one had called me. And it's hard for me to get up there because I have two kids which I've told them, they replied with o no problem bring them. Okay I bring them and my 30-minute appointment turns into an hour and a half appointment and they couldn't even be bothered to get us a second chair for both of the kids to sit down so one of the kids was sitting between my legs and moving all around well the hygienist sat there and prodded me and then blamed it on the kid because they couldn't be bothered to get that kid another chair. They've wasted my time Gas Energy and it's starting to seem like I'm wasting my money on them to. Find a better dentist because these people will give you the runaround and give you any excuse under the sun as to why the service isn't up to par.

I have insurance through Marketplace which helps me pay my premiums. Because of this, I was struggling to find a dentist who accepted it. I called and was told they don’t take my insurance here but my insurance insisted that they do. After a bunch of back and forth between calling here and my insurance company, the receptionist finally spoke directly to someone at my insurance company and supposedly all was straightened out. I made my appointment and hadn’t heard anything else. So, I take the time off work and pay for my ride to and from (Lyft-$23 total). When I arrived they had no record of an appointment for me. I waited patiently while she looked into it and spoke with another front desk worker (who supposedly takes very detailed notes but had zero about this situation). So, she goes to see what she can do to get me in because I show her my confirmation in my phone. She finds out that apparently my insurance isn’t accepted there after all or at least to her knowledge. She thought that was why my appointment was likely canceled. I should have been made aware of that but wasn’t. My only option was to pay out of pocket. During this whole interaction I was obviously upset because someone had verified my insurance through the company itself and then scheduled me. As I tried to explain myself and why I was upset, the woman continued to cut me off to the point that I finally asked her to just let me finish. A male dentist had come out into the area during this time and could overhear our conversation. He looked at me and rudely said there was nothing else they could do and then asked what would make me happy. This was said more like “what more do you want from us lady?” Instead of being sincere. I was most upset that I had wasted my money and time and there seemed to be no accountability. This dentist office is a joke. Apparently there are others with similar experiences with these people too.

I was terrified to learn that I had small cavity in one of my upper right molars after stopping by for a routine checkup. Due to a previous traumatic dentist experience I had when I was younger, where they had to fill in my first cavity, I was literally tearing up. But my doctor and other members of the staff reassured me that everything would be fine and taken care of in just 2 minutes for how small the hole really is. After some deep breathing and a bit more reassurance from my mother over the phone, I ultimately decided to go through with it just to get it done. I was honestly most terrified of the needle, but I didn't even feel it when it was being applied to my gums, and the most surprising thing was that the doctor didn't even have to drill for 10 seconds. He already finished the procedure and was applying the filling. There was no pain what so ever and I felt like big wuss for freaking out beforehand. Though I'm really happy with how the procedure turned out and thankful for the doctor who did a very professional job to take care of my cavity indeed!

While there my phone beeped from text messages and rang a couple of times- I asked to be excused before answering one of the calls and told them I’d call them back as it was an important caller The dentist said to me that I am not appreciative of his time and it was rude for my phone to beep and ring whilst he is helping. I apologized and told him there were personal matters and he replied “when you handle them I can assist you”. He said something about a partial and walked away. I have never experienced this in my life!!! I have had calls before while in the dental chair with other dentist and they NEVER reacted this way! I told the manager and she didn’t even apologize! The only one that did was the assistant who saw what happened! She was kind! I WILL not EVER return! And I Am curious if I received this treatment because I am a black woman! This is disgraceful, disrespectful, AND horrible customer service! I hope to save someone the grief!

Today I got a tooth extraction for the very first time. Dr. Chiafair gave me the 2 options. Root canal or extraction. I didn't have the money for the root canal so i went with an extraction. I was so scared and nervous... Even with a relaxed heart rate I was screaming on the inside. The Dr made sure that there was no pain and giving me more numbing in case and made sure not to leave any teeth fragments in my mouth. The office staff was nice and so was my nurse and extra helper. All very knowledgeable and very professional. The nurse made sure i knew what was going to happen before he extracted the tooth. And they made sure i knew about the aftercare and went through everything with me before I left the office. I left without a tooth but i gained a good reliable dentist. Thank you Dr and Staff. Here comes the healing but I know I'm in good hands. Will recommend to anyone else who is in need like me.

The dental hygienist using the probe made an unusual stick in my wife's gum that caused a lot of pain never experienced before with a hygienist and gum was bleeding a couple of days after this never bleeding when she went in the hygienist said she had an infection and wanted a deep cleaning so my wife went to a periodontist he told her there was nothing wrong with her gums and to keep doing what she is doing. NO APOLOGY for the pain the hygienist caused and did not finish cleaning her teeth just polished them up and sent her on her way and told my wife I don't have time I have to go on to my next patient. Will not let her clean teeth again .DR CHIAFAIR and his other STAFF have been great with us it is his hygienist Yes I am A PATIENT I USED A FAKE NAME DUE TO FEAR OF REPURCUSSIONS

I just wanted to share one of my most recent visits to Baymeadows Family Dentistry to other clientele that might be looking for a family dentist. I have known Dr. Chaifair, for many years. The service he and his staff have provided throughout the years are off the chart! Just last Monday I had an appointment once again to have my teeth cleaned by his dental hygienist, Ms. Eden. Ms. Eden, has cleaned my teeth quite a few times over the past couples of years and please let me just tell you. I have never had someone so thorough, gentle, sensitive, knowledgeable and professional in all my years of having my teeth cleaned & examined, than by Ms. Eden!!! Thank you, Dr. Chaifair & Staff for all you do!!! Because, clients/customers like me truly appreciate and recognize it!!!

I had a tooth break right down to the gum. Then before I could get to Dr. Chiafair two more teeth broke down to the gum. I told him and his staff that I am a Dentists nightmare. I get panicky and start to hyperventilate. They put me in the chair looking out the window. He walks in and asks if I am ready. Of course I am far from ready. After all he is going to have to cut out three roots from my jaw. The next I hear him telling his assistant that is the last stitch. I couldn’t believe it. No pain at all. No pain ever! I eventually had implants put in and there was no pain with that procedure. Needless to say I was very pleased with the whole procedure. My implants look just like my real teeth. I've goan to many other dentist office and Baymedows Family Dentistry is the BEST . They are concerned if u can afford the procedure or service and they will work with u if u can't. Not may doctor office factors in the patient needs with theirs. That is just ONE of the BEST thing about their office, they have THE MOST WELCOMING staff, you'll encounter and Dr. Joseph he's a hoot , which makes ur vist THAT MORE PLEASANT. I'm not a person that likes going to the doctor, much less the dentist, but because of Baymedows Family Dentistry... I LOVE going to their office, as I now welcome and KEEP all my appointments. I had two wisdom teeth extracted here. I was initially very scared to do this with only laughing gas, but this dentist's wonderful bedside manner and his super sweet team of hygienists and receptionists made this experience painless! I ended up opting for no laughing gas and Dr. Chiafair just numbed my mouth-completely painless! I cannot tell you how calm I felt going into my procedure and how receptive they have been to my every need. Initially I was only supposed to get one tooth extracted that day, but the procedure was done with such finesse that I opted to get the second out that day as well. It was that easy. This office also fit me in when I was in extreme pain before my extraction. 10/10 recommend this practice!!

Discovered this dentistry by accident online and they are sooo nice. From the front desk to the Doctor they are all so friendly and welcomed me. They cater to my need of consultation and being put at ease ( I'm a coward when it comes to the dentist). The doctor has a great sense of humor that took away my nerves right away. They offer free consultation a definite plus for me. If you're looking for a dentist that's more personal and you don't want to feel like just another mouth, please visit. I thank God I found this place.

I can’t day enough about how much I appreciate the entire staff at Baymeadows Family Dentistry, especially Dr. Chiafair and Renee! They treat patients like family, and when I had a scary dental emergency last summer Dr. Chiafair explained all of my options to me very clearly and walked me through the entire process, making it as comfortable as possible. He puts patients at ease with his laid back personality but is very knowledgeable and doesn’t mind answering questions. If I could give them 10 stars, I would!!

Doctor Chiafair and his staff went above and beyond to make sure my needs were met. To be honest, I’ve never really had great experiences at a dentist due to the fact that I was always relocating. Giving them 5 stars because Dr. Chafair and his hygienists are absolutely wonderful, especially Dzana. They truly care about their patients and want the best for you. I just wish that the young lady at the front desk would make an effort to be a little more pleasant and empathetic towards the patients. Being the main point of contact and last and first face you see when coming there, she just ruins what could very well be one of if not the best dental clinic in Jacksonville.

I had a denture emergency and these wonderful people got me in the same day. They worked with me to make sure I could come in safely with my 13 month old son during these Covid times. They got my denture repaired quickly and perfectly. I was worried the color might not match up that well but you can’t even tell which tooth was repaired/replaced. I cannot say enough nice things about the staff here and how kind they all were. Definitely recommend them to anyone and everyone!!

Dr Chiafair and his team did an excellent job. Renee goes out of her way to accommodate me with regards to appointments and follow ups. Dr Chiafair's team have frequently stayed well beyond their clinic hours to complete my dental work and make sure I am not experiencing any pain or bite difficulties after a new crown. Everyone from Dr Chaifair to his assistants takes great pride in their work and this makes for a special, painless and pleasant dental experience.

I have been going to Baymeadows Family Dentistry for 15+ years. I have been happy with the flexible staff and the "one stop" shop to dentistry. He does it all and at fair prices. If you are looking for one place to go for all your cleaning and dental needs this is the place to go. I can't think of an outstanding issue that I have had. First time going to a dentist in Jax since moving from NC. Normally going to the dentist is a morning filled with anxiety. Not the case this morning. Such a great experience with Dr. Chaifair and the staff he has. Walked me through every step, answered all of my questions with details. My best ever Jax dentist sold his practice to a new group that was too impersonal, glossy and commercial, and I did not feel heard or welcome. Got a coupon in the mail to try Baymeadows Family Dentistry. Had an awesome cleaning and fluoride treatment with a gentle and knowledgable dental hygenist. Dr. C was cheerful, friendly and thorough on his follow up exam. The staff is friendly, courteous and helpful. I've found a new dental care home!

The whole staff were completely helpful with anything I asked, and the staff had very good customer service through my whole time there. I had the impression from the first few sentences while talking to Dr. Chiafair that he was very knowledgeable and professional, and he did not disappoint! He was very accurate and precise with my mouth. I'd gladly recommend this office to anyone! This is definitely my primary office to go to for now on.

Excellent! Took time to explain x-ray results and preventive guidelines. I did have some apprehension going...not been there before and worried about pain. Best experience with pain management i have had at dentist. Did not feel anything. Staff were friendly and made me feel comfortable. My dental needs were clearly explained. Dr Chiafair was great choice. Would i recommend him? Yes! Very happy with results and experience.

I have been coming here for a little over a year now and the staff here is amazing. I had to have a root canal recently and literally in less then 4 hours almost all my swelling was gone. They work with you and around your schedule. At the end of the day they are here for you and to help you. I will never go to another dentist office if I have the choice. Thank you guys so much.

My family and I have been going to Dr. Chiafair for more than 25 years and we have always been very happy with his care and the care provided by his assistants and office staff. Wonderful that his daughter has joined his practice. My experience with her was very good as well. Very high recommendations for the entire practice.

Doctor Chiafair was excellent. During and after my implant I did not experience any pain or discomfort. There were no swellings or pain after the process. The whole experience was less invasive than a regular cleaning. I have no reservations to recommend him for any dental work. He will definitely continue to be my dentist.
