"One of the most photogenic places in Kanata North A locals favourite walk"
"Awesome short (1-1"
"Great walk for the family"
"This is a nice, peaceful trail"
"Nice path if I don't think about how amazing it was before the developer "accidentally" destroyed a big chunk of the forest and the city let them get away with it but sad to see when I remember how it used to be"
One of the most photogenic places in Kanata North A locals favourite walk. The beaver pond is located in Kanata North, in the heart of so called Kanata Lakes area. It forms part of the wetland, hence there are many species of birds, insects and small mammals who live there. It’s also home to some migratory birds like the Canadian geese, you can see them throughout the summer and early fall. The natural path around the Beaver Pond is an easy about 3 KM walk, dog and kids friendly and is nicely maintained. In the fall when the leaves turn red and orange, the area south of the parking lot is a great spot to take stunning photos. Many professional photographers also come here and take outdoor family photos for their clients. There is an actual beaver living in the Beaver Pond, his dam is nestled in the reeds. See if you can spot him next time you visit the Beaver Pond. :)
Awesome short (1-1.5h) trail. I did it in June. If you like a short walk in nature, to see birds, squirrels, chippies and, if you are lucky enough (I was), a beaver - this trail is for you. Good to walk with your family, guests, dog, or alone. After a rain, some parts of the trail can get a bit muddy, but not too much. There are plenty of wild raspberry bushes, benches (view spots), and flowers along the path. It is always fun to feed geese (bring with you some bread leftovers), but some of them can bite a bit (just don't provoke them). Overall, my warmest recommendations

Great walk for the family. Takes about 30 minutes at an average pace. Easy to walk with kids. A bit confusing when you come out on to a road at the halfway point but you'll find the trail again. I wouldn't go near here in spring though since it's a pond/swamp and I'm sure the mosquitoes would eat you alive! Lots of construction going on near the trail when we walked it (new housing I'm guessing?).
This is a nice, peaceful trail. Our dog groomer is nearby, so when one of our dogs gets groomed, we take the other two to this park. Even though it has some cyclists, it is a nice place to walk with your dogs. Some people also let their dogs off leash for a while as long as they can control them reasonably well, so they don't get in the way of cyclists.
Nice path if I don't think about how amazing it was before the developer "accidentally" destroyed a big chunk of the forest and the city let them get away with it but sad to see when I remember how it used to be... So, don't think about that and just enjoy how lucky we are with forests like this still in our city for now...
This is a not too long hiking trail around the pond. There are some elevations part but mostly flat surfaces. There were no more leaves on trees but I would imagine a lot of shade on this trail during summer as there are many trees. Also, this trail is running along the backyards of many big houses or mansions!
Nice place to sit, relax and watch those calm little waves in the pond...not good for hike as the trail has lots of invasion by commercial house. I was very much cautious not to step into someone's backyard as its confusing. May be on the other side of the pond there might be good trail as I saw ppl with bikes.
While this is still a very pleasant park, there is much less wildlife and far fewer trails than there were a few years ago before the old growth forest to the north was clear-cut and blasted. Connectivity with the Monk Environmental Forest with its trails on the other side of the clear-cut, has also been lost.
Nice tranquil walking trail within the suburb. Parking is easy to find on residential streets. Remember where you parked though, because there are several entry paths and it's easy to lose your car.

Lovely place for a walk, good little walking trail. It is kind of stroller friendly but there was a small part where it wasn’t, i went down a very rocky hill but otherwise I had my jogging stroller and it did the job.

One of the best park I ever saw before. this lake is wonderful for walking, I thought to keep it as a secret for myself but I have to say what I saw today. It is very quiet and beautiful place to walk and site there listen to birds
Beautiful loop around the pond (2,5km exactly) for running and walking. In winter, there is a 430m skating rink and a few hockey ice of decent size in the middle. Seems entirely maintained by users. Ice is surprisingly nice and flat !!!
Beautiful trail. The loop doesn't take very long to do....under an hour. Lots of wildlife. The leaves are in a nice stage of autumn yellows and reds. There are a lot of leaves on the trails. They make for slippery walking but make the
Great spot for watching animals, and enjoying nature. I walked the trail here but I find it a bit short. I did see some animals I don't regularly see like mice, and an unknown bird species. Great way to spend your afternoon.
It used to be a nice spot for a walk before big money got in the way and started cutting trees down to make way for houses. Now the trail is half closed and the other half has been decimated by Emerald ash borer.
Next to the neighborhood in Kanata, it's a quiet, very calming and beautiful place to relax. Easy access for the locals. You can either have a short stroll or simply watch the scenery in front of you.
Great spot to view the fall colours. The whole trail around the pond is a good length for an afternoon hike. We spotted ducks, the usual forest wildlife, and a few garter snakes hiding in the leaves.
A wonderful place to walk around, take a seat on one of the many benches, and enjoy wild life, lake, and sun. A couple of years ago we even saw an american bittern that makes incredible sound
A nice relaxing community pond with both a forest area and an open area. Beavers are rare but there's lots of other wildlife

Great place to walk, some hills in the forest area, can be slippery in the fall due to the leaves, wear proper shoes.

Huge rinks in the winter with campfire pits. Amazing walking paths with great views during the summer. The reviews speak for themselves.

Beautiful place for a walk or bike ride, I only hope the developers keep it as it is and do not year it down to make houses or "city" parks. Just leave it alone.
Nice place for a walk or bike ride year around. It is a shame the inescrupulosos builders started to close and ruin one of the best natural spots in Kanata north
This park the most beautiful views breezy most of the time Perfect spot for biking, short hiking and a run Must see and visit this park when you are in the area
First time in years where it feels like it is being treated like a place to be enjoyed in the winter. Whoever is tending the surfaces, please keep doing it!
Pretty place, no beavers though, but I do not hold it against them (there is a construction site nearby which must be pretty annoying for the beavers)
Lots of Geese and wildlife to see here around the Pond

It’s not suitable for picnics but very nice for biking, walking and enjoying the beautiful lake view. it has parking and benches available
Beautiful walk, lots of small wildlife, great place to see birds and squirrels. Pond hockey in the winter if you are willing to shovel.
Gorgeous and frozen although it's still early to try and skate it looks like you could give it a go under your own risk :), loved it!
Fun little pond filled with bullfrogs and minnows; didn't see any beavers mind you. This is NOT a place you'd like to go swimming! ;)
Such a beautiful path for a walk in nature in a residential area. It took me 30 minutes or so to walk around the pond with my dog.
Good walk, but the construction is loud

Really nice sunsets, thick ice to skate on the winter, but Canada geese are vicious. Cool beavers as well
Nice spot for a late night skate. The community really keeps the area clear and open for people to use.
The beaver pond is a beautiful place to relax. There are walking/biking trails and it is dog friendly.
Beautiful, peaceful and great hiking place around the pond. Very quite and great for family and kids.
Love this place. Every day it looks a bit different. Peaceful and a great place for a short walk.
Beautiful place for a walk or bike or just sit and enjoy the view or feed the ducks or geese.
Loved the ice skating there. Pretty nice place for ice skating on a good sunny winter day.
Unique and Serene ecosystem. Kudos to the city and the residents for keeping it pristine
It's a very nice park. Crazy to see the changes over the years but still very nice.
Gorgeous setting just wish they would stop cutting the trees around the pond.
I've moved away but still my go to place for serenity..worth the drive …
It is a quiet and beautiful place with pond, trees, birds and natural path.
