By far, one of the best Vet clinics in town! My wife and I have been taking both of our male cats here over the last 6 years. They're always quick with an appointment. Especially when it came to our youngest cat, Buddy. He was unable to pass urine one Thursday, early January. He was a tough customer, to say the least. Due to financial constraints during the initial visit, we were unable to leave him for observation over the first weekend. Unfortunately, he reblocked within 48 hours. On Monday morning, we called BAH and they asked us to bring him right in. He spent the week with them with use of multiple catheters (he had a tendancy to remove them, despite using the cone) he was finally starting to heal. We took him home at the end of the week for observation again. By Saturday afternoon, he was back at the clinic as he seemed to be straining and very uncomfortable when trying to pee. Dr. O'Meara offered to observe him for the weekend and see how things went. Due to the extreme amount of swelling, he still needed the catheter. By Thursday morning, the attending vet tech caught him pulling the catheter out with his front paws. They decided to leave it out and see how he did. By Friday afternoon he was going to the litter with little to no complication. We refused to give up on our little guy. The entire staff at BAH felt the same about him. He became very comfortable with the staff and he even became a mascot for the clinic. We finally got him home 2 weeks ago. After a regiment of medication and constant monitoring, he is finally starting to use the litter box normally again. A very special thank you to Dr. O'Meara, Dr. Poulin, Dr. Sandoz, Allison, Kim, Tesha and the rest of the team! Every time we called, or came in, we were treated exceptionally well. Update: We were a little early with the celebration. Buddy ended up back at the BAH as he had blocked again. He ended up requiring the P.U. surgery as his urethra was too narrow and a growth had started to form causing a partial block. He had the surgery and 5 weeks later, he is back to his usual self. Once again, a big thank you to the staff at Beechwood!
I have been a client for 24 years and 4 pets have gone here, and 2 years ago this would have been a 5 star rating. Over the last year I have noticed that they care less and less about the actual treatment of the pets and more and more about how much money they can get from you and policies that seem to change week by week. My dog has had a standing prescription for allergies with Beechwood and I had an appointment set up for his annual check up in 2 weeks but needed a refill of his allergy meds (this was done 3 weeks ago). I was told that their policy won't allow for that and I needed an appointment to see the vet. I explained that I had one coming up that was made 3 weeks ago and that Dr.Julie had placed a note on my file for exactly this reason, as this happens every year and my dog is 7. I was told very snottily that they need 48 hours to even get a prescription, which was not true as I received the one 3 weeks ago in 4 hours. Was then told, I won't get any without an appointment. I asked when their policy changed within the last 3 weeks, at which point I was told either make an appointment or you won't get the meds. Again, I have an appointment coming up on the 21st and as per Dr. JULIE, I dont need an appointment for this. I said, so he just has to suffer, and the response was, "Yes", without an earlier appointment. I have asked them to switch my file to a new vet. Once a company starts randomly choosing policies, it is downhill from there.
I'm actually a little disappointed in this animal hospital. I use different vets, depending on who is available, and have found each one to be knowledgeable and friendly. The building is clean, and the location is great for me. However, one of my dogs was bitten by a tick, and I called to ask about getting her tested for Lyme disease. I went in for the appointment and paid the standard $90 to see a vet, only to be told it takes six weeks from the time of a bite to do the test. I would have rescheduled my appointment if that information had of been shared with me. Furthermore, my pup was limping (which was the reason for wanting to do the Lyme treat), but the vet didn't see anything, and I wasn't allowed in the building where I would have been able to point out the exact spot. The limping got worse so I went back three weeks later and paid $750 to have an abscess drained, that had been building up since that first appointment. I know vets are expensive, but after speaking to other dog owners, they've also been unhappy with the prices at this animal hospital.
Terrible experience. Countless tests and thousands of dollars with no results my cat remained very sick with no diagnosis. Meanwhile they were racking up the bill with stressful teeth cleaning and allergy shots while I just wanted to help my beloved cat. Through another vet he was quickly diagnosed with cancer that had spread everywhere. I don't know how it would be possible to not find this! I wish so much that I had gone to a different vets all along and the end of my cats life had been more peaceful with out all the pointless and traumatic vet visits. I don't care about all the money they bled from me, I just cared about my pet. The atmosphere was rushed and stressful. I would NEVER go to this vet again and have found a wonderful vets where they have time and concern for each client. Please, if something does not feel right with your vet, trust your instinct and go to different one!
On January 6, I had to put asleep my beloved Duchess due to failing organs from old age. The staff were compassionate, caring, and did everything right. At no point did they take Duchess to the back room - everything was done in the room with us present. I mention this point in particular as I had to put Duchess's sister asleep a year ago at a different veterinary clinic. There, they took Countess away from us for over 15 minutes as they administered a sedative. This was heartbreaking as she was with strangers when she was undergoing that aspect of the procedure. Anyways, Beechwood Animal Hospital did it all right. They followed up by sending me a beautiful condolence card signed by all staff and a paw print from my dear Duchess. Thank you to all the staff of Beechwood Animal Hospital.
Stlaurent location is FAR WAY BETTER than the Beechwood location. Beechwood location are not considerate at all with your time or your worry towards your animal. I have been told that I would be called after 30 minutes by the vet for the results of my cats analysis and had to call them 4 hours later for an update. I had an appointment BOOKED and I was then told they would call me an hour later and never received a call. I feel so uncared for and have no idea on the things I can do to help my animal. I feel as though my money has gone to waste as I didn’t even receive a proper conversation nor feedback on how my animal is doing or what I can do to help. Money is gone to waste now but never going back there again.
When I first moved to Ottawa, Beechwood Animal Hospital was the closest. I ended up making them my primary vet. Every experience and interaction I've had with either of their locations has been outstanding. The nicest and most helpful people are all at Beechwood or the St. Laurent location. Sadly, I'm moving out of Ottawa though. If it was feasible to drive all the way to Ottawa for this vet I would, but an 8 hour drive is far. Regardless, I would highly recommend everyone to go to the Beechwood Animal Hospital. If they are still taking new patients I would hurry, they're all amazing people. Thank you for helping me keep my dogs healthy and helping in every way possible!
Once upon a time I had a feline medical emergency, a nearby vet was too busy for me. So I called Beechwood Animal Hospital. They squeezed us in the same day and I’ve been taking my fur babies there ever since. All the veterinarians and technicians are exemplary. They’re sympathetic, empathetic and true animal lovers. I drive halfway across the city just to go here. I won’t trust my animals with anyone else who herd you through like animal walmart. I can’t say enough good things about this veterinarian clinic and hospital. The last time I was there a patient was crossing the rainbow bridge...it was touching to see even the staff crying. That shows they actually care.
Me and my husband moved to Ottawa just a couple of weeks ago, and we had 3 cats. Unfortunately, a couple of days ago my most senior cat, Nora, started acting strangely. I called and booked an appointment for the following day, and the receptionist, Emily, was absolutely lovely and calming. They had an appointment open up for same day, and I rushed my old lady there. Tragically there was a mass in her abdomen, and at 19, there was only one call to make in that situation. All of the staff were fantastic and so kind. I will be bringing my other cars here, for any medical need they have. Nora lived 19 long, loved years. And will be missed terribly.
Best veterinary services ever, they go above and beyond and have always been so kind and loving towards me and my pet hedgehog. I Highly recommend their services. *Update: Shortly after having to put my hedgehog down I not only received a sympathetic email, but also received a card in the mail hand signed by each Beechwood staff member. The card with filled with lots of sweet, personal messages. I cannot express how much I have appreciated the Beechwood team. They made a very sad experience extremely comforting and showed immense kindness to me. I consider myself lucky to have found such a wonderful vet.
So grateful to have found this clinic! I’m an animal trainer, so to say that I’m rather “particular” about how my animals are handled is putting it... nicely... very, nicely. Everyone that has dealt with me here so far, has been so patient and professional with all of my requests. As a result, my 85lb working dog has has been jabbed with a number of needles, received laser treatment, and been bandaged without needing restraints, muzzling, or force. Thanks so much to all of the staff here for the stress-free experience!
This company had the audacity to try and charge me for medication that wasn’t even used. When questioned about it, they removed it reluctantly from the bill. Today, we were told that the appointment would cost $75. When I got to pick up the cat the showed a bill for $150. What was the difference? Medication that they gave again without consultation. We paid it, but don’t think we will continue business with them. I feel like that are being shady to get extra money for medication that they don’t even talk about.
I live in Orleans, but I will never stop going to the Beechwood Animal Hospital. I unfortunately had to put my dog down last week, and though it was one of the toughest and saddest experiences I’ll ever have, the people at Beechwood Animal Hospital were so amazing and sympathetic. You can tell each and every one of the people who work there truly care about what they are doing to help our pets! I am so thankful to have had such caring people look after not only my dog, but my family as well.
I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to secure a spot at this clinic for my pet. The staff are so very warm, kind, generous with their time, and welcoming. They are knowledgeable, about their products, and spend as much time as is required to answer questions one might have. The vets, and assistants, are as reassuringly gentle, patient, and generous with their time, aside from being excellent doctors of course. A heartfelt thanks to all at the clinic.
Terrible, terrible. They are very stuck-up at that place. Just because someone has an anxiety attack and says things they did not mean, they deactivate your account like little babies, thus punishing themselves and the pets. AND, they did not want to euthanize my mom's very ill, diabetic cat without doing an "exam". After a very long and expensive treatment...it should be up the OWNER to decide in the end, what they want to do. Will never go there again.
Great place. Very accommodating. They were extremely respectful of my deceased pet when we brought him in, which makes an already hard process a little bit easier. The staff was friendly and professional and on top of it all I was not able to fully pay for the cremation so they allowed me to put down some money and pay the rest on pickup. A little late on my review as it was a couple months back by now but I had been meaning to do this for a while.
Dr. Hayley and her team are fantastic. They were able to quickly identify a misdiagnosis from Buffy's previous vet and were able to help give my dog her quality of life back. During the appointment everyone was kind and compassionate, really making sure that Buffy was comfortable and safe taking the best care of her possible. I cannot thank this team for giving me back my dog and helping her infection. She is back to her old self!
I love this place. The staff is wonderful and clearly loves animals. It was Vincent's (our cat) first visit there and they did everything to make him comfortable. The Vet was great and her follow-up was prompt and very friendly. I had to return this morning to leave a sample and this visit just confirmed my first impression. I will happily take Vincent for all of his veterinary needs. I highly recommend Beechwood Animal Hospital.
We've been going to Beechwood with our menagerie for over 7 years, and our little guys have always gotten excellent care. The vets are very knowledgeable, always discuss the various options in detail with us, and support us in doing what is best for our animals....especially with our guys that had/have chronic health issues. It's obvious that they and the whole team love our pets, and they are always ready to be there for them.
Great place! My two dogs had a dental cleaning with the possibility that one of them could get an extraction : the staff was great, the procedures were very well explained to me and I never felt any pressure to add on (like blood work or X-ray etc)! I received several phone calls through the day to keep me posted on how my puppies were recovering. All in all, it was a great service, as always :)
Lied about prices! We asked prices for cat and dog inspection and documents for travel. They told $140 per pet and a non significant amount for filling papers. After everything done, they gave bill for almost $500! What is this! Why lied about prices! And all they said was “oh just have been a mistake haha”. Never using this place again and don’t recommend! They are liers!
My poor fur baby was acting off so I was about to get an appointment within a few days. The vet and techs are amazing, they made recommendations and helped my doggy get better. Prices are a little up there, but can you really put a price on family when things need to get done? They did an amazing job with details, explaining everything and follow-up.
I adore the staff at this vet office. They're all wonderful, both to the owners and the pets. My(very shy) cat is super comfortable here, which says something incredible, given hed usually run away from a stranger the moment he saw them. The vet I was seeing is also phenomenal at explaining what's happening, and answering any questions I had.
The care my dog and I receive here is stellar. I'm so grateful I found them. The staff are caring, attentive and accommodating. Plus, they've never used high-pressure sales tactics to upsell me on products and services. They tell me what their recommendations are and let me decide for myself. World-class vet clinic all the way!
They treat our pets like their own. They do exotics - a rare find in Ottawa. The staff are always friendly and caring. They take the time with each person to ensure they know how to do follow up care on their pet. Dr. Hayley is AMAZING!! This practise is worth finding.
I’m so happy that I stumbled upon this animal hospital.. The staff and the doctors are compassionate, honest and amazing. Even though we lost our pet, you all went above and beyond to help us remember our dear Sally. Thank you!
Best service I have had in years! I have a dog reactive bully breed and he was treated with so much love and care. I cannot recommend this vet enough. All of the staff is friendly and accommodating. Amazing amazing amazing!
Very kind caring staff. I had to put down a very sick cat, I felt very bad that I could not afford to pay all the hospital fees but the staff made me feel ok about a very tough decision. Thank you for caring.
Great staff , professional doctors, been with them since 2006 , Dr. Sandos has taken care of my 4 pets for many years, she's very caring about her patients. Love the follow up after the appointment.
Beechwood Animal Hospital has been taking amazing care of my dog Bonnie for the last 3 years. I am so grateful to have their compassionate and competent team caring for my little fur baby!
My dogs (rescued, retired racers) love the team at BAH. We are always greeted and treated so warm and lovingly. I wouldn't dream of taking my fur babies anywhere else. Great job folks!!
We absolutely appreciated the care and attention given to our little guy (Loki). I would certainly recommend the Beechwood Animal Hospital to anyone looking for the best in pet care.
I was very impressed with how friendly all the staff are there, and the great care they took with my furry family member . Also how reasonable the cost was for everything! …
Fantastic service. Kind and compassionate. Prices are a little steep but you get what you pay for. Dr. Nightingale is the best vet in ottawa (personal opinion but he’s amazing!)
We take our cat Anakin to the Beechwood Animal Hospital and they are fabulous. Always amazing staff and very friendly and kind vet. I love the hospital and Anakin does too!
As first time clients one must put down a deposit. Dr. Erin Hayden is very knowledgeable, friendly, and clear when discussing ones pet and treatments.
The veterinary doctors here are insightful and compassionate. They truly put the individual needs of your pet first, over any other consideration.
Everybody was very welcoming and informative, and scheduling a follow up was very smooth. Looking forward to returning
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, clean environment. Limited parking though!
My cat loved it! My dog approves
