"A rare little island of the bush within Melbourne"
"Can't really say much this time because I only walked through very quickly, but great park with beautiful scenery and perfect for those people that like the outdoor atmosphere and having a country feel when you're still in the city"
"Great park located within the Studley Park Gardens"
"This is a great place to visit for a stroll or picnic by the Yarra"
"If you want to see flying foxes then this place is the right place to go! If you want to see the foxes flying and having a dip in the river then the best time will be evening at about 6-7pm"
A rare little island of the bush within Melbourne. The park offers a unique opportunity to see roosting flying foxes and the river walk is lovely in parts. Just be mindful that the path is still quite storm damaged at some points and it can be a scramble. Older people or young families with prams will probably find it impassible.
Can't really say much this time because I only walked through very quickly, but great park with beautiful scenery and perfect for those people that like the outdoor atmosphere and having a country feel when you're still in the city. Awesome, would be more than happy to come back here again and most likely will at some stage! :-)
Great park located within the Studley Park Gardens. Lesser known than the Studley Park or Fairfield boathouses, so a pinch quieter. Public toilets, open grassed area, seating, tables, shelter, BBQ and parking. Also, A great lookout spot for the fruit bats hanging from the trees.
This is a great place to visit for a stroll or picnic by the Yarra. It's on the Main Yarra Trail if you want to stretch your legs. If you are here at dawn or dusk you can see the local flying fox colony in full flight. There is a car park, electric BBQ and toilet on site.
If you want to see flying foxes then this place is the right place to go! If you want to see the foxes flying and having a dip in the river then the best time will be evening at about 6-7pm. They wake up from their daydreaming and turn the place into a hive of activity.
If you are visiting Melbourne (or live in Melbourne like us) and haven't been here, you must! It's 1000 times better than walking through a zoo, you are surrounded by thousands of sleeping yet at times noisy flying foxes living in the many
Interesting park to see lots and lots of bats close up! There’s thousands of them hanging upside down in the trees. The walking paths are not the most relaxing with tree roots and some precarious bits along the river. Good for a bit of an
Bellbird is playing a direct role in the preservation of the ancient keystone pollinating Grey-headed flying foxes. It is a typical Australia whole-of-life-cycle flying fox camp. It'll better when Parks Vic close the gates at night to
This grey-headed flying fox camp is of national significance under the fed dept of environment. This site is home for the bats who are under threat and in decline. The public's respect toward the animals is greatly appreciated. Quiet
A friend and I did the loop walk from Studley Park Boathouse around to Fairfield Boathouse and followed on back to Studley. About a 9km walk the whole way around. Pleasant scenery, lovely rest stops and Fruit bats! Lots of them.
A beautiful experience of nature and some native wildlife. The park is located by the Yarra River. The Flying fox viewing point is a must. Enjoy cooking you BBQ in the open using the provided amenities and watch some
If you want to see bats this is the place. Beautiful park. Would not recommend to go Close to sun set when they are starting to wake up and fly about because they might drop their urine and poo on you
5 minutes from the CBD, these strange creatures gathering. Every hour is different, you can come and they are active, sleep or having fun. Being there enables you to be their guest.
The flying fox colony has moved, so you have to walk a little further down the trail this year to see them. Lots of them in the trees and well worth the effort! Great park to visit.
Awesome here! Great for kids and adults too. The serenity with the greenery and with the wild ducks in the creek and you can feed them they come right up to you! They are not shy!
This park is a (dog walking) paradise ....interesting paths , lots of trees water available ( for dogs & their walking companions ) & lots of well behaved friendly folk (& dogs!)
Good spot to have a picnic, BBQ or place to walk your dog. The surrounding scenery of trees & shrubs lining the Yarra river is an unusual feature to find so close to a big city.
Beautiful park. Lots of grass to run around, and nice walking paths. Kids and dogs would love it here! Soccer pitch has great grass to play on. Pretty clean toilets.
Nice place for a picnic or a stop when walking the trails. Toilets relatively clean. Water fountain. BBQs are not working though due to electric fault (2023/09/24).
Very nice scenery and great place to kayak. The boat house on the other hand has overpriced pre cooked things for sale so I'd bring your own food and beverages More
Quite a pleasant little park. Adequate parking, nice under cover BBQ area. Only one of the two electric BBQs was working.
Such a haven by the river, lots of flying bats in the trees , nothing to worry about So calm and relaxing …
Really nice park and walks . Picnic area isn't massive but it's nice on a sunny day. Toilet is old and isn't clean.
Great spot to see the flying foxes! There’s public BBQs and toilets here, plus plenty of space to have a picnic.
Fewer flying foxes at the carpark area but lots seen from the road and about 30 along the walking track.
Loved it, saw the flying-foxes at dusk a brilliant sight, so beautiful to watch, amazing creatures.
Adore the flying foxes, so many to see and good viewing spots, lovely walk, love those bats xx
it's greenish. council could move more often. 2/3rds off a snake pit.
Great place to visit hordes of flying foxes so close to the city
Tables under cover. BBQs out in the open. Toilets close by...
Great place to chill and if you have a kayak it is amazing
A great place for cycling around
