I walked in to see what vegan or gluten free food they had, was in the granola aisle and picked up a larger bag that would be too tough to conceal in my pocket, I looked at the ingredients and quickly put it back seeing as it wasn't what i was looking for and noticed how much more they charge than other close by stores. I came up to the front counter to see what was being displayed and the inexperienced paranoid lady with green hair asked me if I put anything into my pockets, accusing me of taking an item, she said she saw me put my hands into my pockets which is true but dont be quick to judge when you didn't actually see the act of a product in hand, you saw a person being a human, making a human gesture of keeping my hands warm in this cold lame belltown area grocery. I guess you're not supposed to be offended when accused of stealing there. I can see they dont do good business, probably losing money at this store and just floating by with taxes each yr as they're mostly accusing people of stealing from there. Not to mention how unclean and sanitary the place is. When you accuse someone make sure you're right. If you're a innocent law abiding citizen like myself, walk down to metropolitan cafe and deli, a lot more professional, community minded grocery. They will greet you and treat you with the respect that is deserved. Unfortunately Dan's grocery falls short in customer service, cleanliness of the aisles, pricing of items you can get cheaper elsewhere and also desirable food items. I wont be going back. They need to hire better representatives that are up to standard with their mission statement. That would bring the rating to a 2 star.

so willing to accommodate my picky nature! I buy the same breakfast muffin sandwich every time I visit here. I buy it cold, pay first (EBT rule, & yes! this means they do accept EBT! YAY) and the WONDERFUL lady working at the deli counter every time I visit always obliges me when I request my sandwich heated without the egg, but rather, the egg removed and wrapped separate for my pekingese. they always remember not only myself, but my doggie and baby daughter. I love, and have for years, this great little independent market! if you're in Belltown and need to stop for something, the little extra $$ is worth the ambience, i pinky swear...

I have had a bad track record with Dan's, every Sunday they open a half hour late instead of 7 even though I call and ask when they open and they say 7. Today when I went to get rung up, I waited so long to get acknowledged I had to call over to the 3 employees ( shaved head young guy, older man, and young girl black hair) who were all talking to a some guy who wasn't buying anything. As they were ringing the man and a lady with green hair talked to each other like I wasn't there, talking about someone dying and their funeral costs. Treat your customers like people thanks

The nice cashier was busy checking the prices of a lot of groceries for the lady ahead of us and it was taking forever, we were worried we were going to miss our bus. The security guard stepped up to the register and rang up our items. He went above and beyond his position to help out his fellow colleague and helped us not miss the bus. Prices aren't too bad for a convenience store, however there are a lot of items that don't show price. One thing I would suggest to the owner/manager is to have prices showing for all items in the store.

This is our local area to shop when just grabbing something quick, whether it be for a meal, because someone's sick, we just want a candy bar, whatever. A great place for fast, convenient trips!! They have some medicine, a multitude of snacks, a lot of drinks, and a corner dedicated to produce. One main problem though, which isn't the stores fault, would be the people who hang out outside. Multiple times I've been threatened for money and such after walking out, and people ignore it when this happens, refusing to step in.

Pretty nice for a neighborhood grocery store. Decent assortment of foods, although you shouldn't expect to see different brands of the same item. I've seen posts of people warning to check the expiration date, but Ive never had an issue. The staff is usually pretty nice, although a couple of the night staff can be a bit surly. Keep the neighborhood in mind, there are a lot of people hanging around the bus stop and the staff have to deal with some ridiculous situations. Part of the charm of downtown living.

I live in the area and thought I would check out one of the neighborhood markets for once instead of the usual PCC / Whole Foods trip. To my dismay it’s basically an oversized convenience store. The produce section has a few options, none of which looked extremely appetizing. Staff were very rude. I’m sure working on 3rd wears you down but basic exchanges between two humans is always appreciated. Will just make the 10 block trek to PCC next time.

  • Brandee Randall

Lady with braids extremely rude! Just lost over 12 year customer that has works in this area too. You cannot ask someone to leave a purse (money, keys, cards, etc) up front in a basket where anyone can just grab it! I called to speak to the manager and she hung up on me. I've work right on 2nd and Bell for a decade and know this area, so definitely not going to happen! Will not be going back or recommending your spot anymore.

Best grocery store in Belltown! Literally has all the basics you could need and then some! Produce, fruit, meat, cheese, bread, milk, canned goods, frozen, cleaning products, paper products, beer and wine. I even bought a drain stopper. Prices are not outrageous like a convenience store, they are on par with Safeway. The entry and front are a little gritty but keep your eyes open and you'll be fine. I literally love this place.

  • Veronica West

Dan's has everything! You walk into a welcoming area with a hot & packaged food bar, a huge wine selection on dark wood racks, and friendly employees. You'll find everything from gluten free mac & cheese to fresh produce & greeting cards. Yes, they carry lots of gluten free goodies. Don't let the bus stop outside deter you; it's worth the stop, especially for locals who don't want to head out of the neighborhood for provisions.

  • Sheryl Stepetin

The only problem I have with this place is All store clerks Assume you are a criminal as soon as you come thru the door. They even cuss out the regular shoppers that enter the store. Very rude, and talk to customers real crazy. Not impressed with the customer service. The fact that they carry some meat products in grocery is the ONLY reason I stop in. Otherwise I would go elsewhere.

  • Gur Malhi

Very friendly and cooperative staff and this place is my all time favorite. They serve with good quality food and customer service. The service is super fast and staff is always very helpful. The products are always very fresh and I love going there a lot cause they keep the quality of product along with number of new products. This grocery store in town is fully recommended.

  • Eric Hutcheson

Always lots of sketchy drugged out people and their dealers hanging out in front of this store, along with homeless and mentally ill. It’s often scary just getting to thee door of the store. Staff seem to be a used to it so they don’t do much when someone’s blocking the doorway into the store. I try and only shop here when absolutely necessary, for my own safety.

  • sabrina stockman

I used to go to dans every day, they have a nice variety of stuff & the staff is nice. Every since Krispy Krunchy Chicken moved in I now avoid going in. You can’t even be in there without smelling like chicken grease for the rest of the day!! This is both frustrating and upsetting for me as I live near by and now I have to travel further for snacks.

  • Me, Myself And I

Always good for dinner and a show, or at least snacks and shenanigans lol! Great store for average grocery staples, but in a convenience store, you pay a little extra for that ease. Good crew too! I can't believe some of outlandish BS I often see them having to deal with; I'd likely get fired in my first week lol! Much appreciated DBG crew! - Steve

  • Michael Rose

I shop here because it's close and convenient. Love the people who work there. But it's right where some of the homeless (and this is coming from someone low income himself!) and dodgy people tend to hang near. So, they have to deal with heaps of riffraff, thefts and broken windows sometimes. Other than that, it's just useful for quick items.

  • kimberly revis

I've lived in the Belltown neighborhood for going on 12 years and have always enjoyed shopping at Dan's. The reason I only gave them 3 stars is because lately they have been closing early. One night before midnight they' locked the doors wouldn't let anyone in. The problem was they wouldn't let customers out. I had a bus to catch.

  • Sarah Troyerhampton

Dan's deli has some of the dankest sandwiches and meals around. My favorite sandwich is their turkey on rosemary bread. Very affordable (around $2.50 for half around $5 for whole.) Their bbq pork with steamed vegetables is also amazing and filled me up for only $6. If you can grab a sandwich do it because they sell out quickly!

  • Isabella-Rose Trejo

It's cheaper to buy in the groceries though for some of their items. The quality of their products was good as expected. Try their products and you won’t regret it for sure. I am deeply impressed by how everything turned well for my plans. Such a wonderful place to do groceries. Great service and pricing!

  • Gregory Whatley

Love this Grocery store! Cashiers are very friendly and courteous! The meatloaf and mashed potatoes with gravy dinners are to die for! The lasagna dinners are awesome! The BBQ chicken is scrumptious! If you don't feel like cooking and you want a decent cooked meal. Belltown Grocery is the place to shop!

  • Lewis Crawford

Excellent small grocery store! The prices are surprisingly decent too. I'm used to paying an arm and a leg if I need to shop at a convenience store but here, at least for soups, spices, produce, and fresh foods (my usual list there), Dan's is right on par with larger grocery stores in the area.

  • Nicholas S Hoffman

They are selling fried Cajun chicken now and it's amazing. Unfortunately, under their new owners/management, the only personable employee seems to be the one woman that is a carry over from the previous owner. Always double check that the chicken in your box is what you paid for before leaving!

  • Akira (Ruins O' Gems)

First introduction to the place was a homeless guy being chased out by security. So I will give them that they at least have security. But when I bought food it tasted a little off. I feel like the place could maybe look a little more clean. It was definitely an interesting experience.

  • Ashley Haglund

Staff has always been a treat here, and I enjoy that they are dog-friendly. Only downside is that there are a lot of homeless people, drunks, and drug addicts hanging around the entrance. If the staff weren't as awesome as they are, I'd be going further out of my way to another store.

  • Patti Garza

Thankfully this location has a small parking garage otherwise I would never think to come here. Other than that a pretty typical whole foods. Though this location always seems busy they are able to get customers through pretty quick. I also like the coffee spot on the lower level.

  • Perry Pittman

Kind of a cramped location but they do a great job with selection, which I prefer here compared to the larger Potter Hill location. Employees are a mixed bag in terms of helpfulness and of course the prices aren't great. But the quality and convenience are still the big draws.

  • Gabriel Traylor

Good local grocery - and much more of an actual grocery than I was expecting. I was thinking "convenience store" way more complete, better prices, and even produce (though I'd be picky with it, honestly). But in general, impressed, and will definitely be shopping here again.

  • Eatman

This is more like a 3.5, they seen to have a wide variety of goods, they even have a produce section which is very nice. Price is on the high side though, compared a bag of tera chips and they were more expensive than whole foods. But, i would shop here again if i needed to.

  • James Dillard

the lines are long and sometimes I miss my bus but I get breakfast there often in the service is great the cashiers are sometimes a little talkative though but mostly I would have to say it's probably thepatrons that do most of the talking distracting the cashiers

  • Hannah Barnett

This little market has a bit of everything. I'm pretty much addicted to the premade sandwiches you can pick up for a quick and easy lunch--they're delicious (especially on that rosemary bread...mmm...) I've always had friendly service there, so no complaints!

  • Ashish Jindal

What a total dump of a place and rude staff. I would give it 0 stars if possible. They over charged me for a product and then refused to correct it claiming they couldn't do anything about it. You know what that's called? Collecting a free paycheck.

  • Robert Lebeck

Compared to most convenience style grocery stores, Dan's has a larger selection like that of a larger grocery store. Pet friendly, they allow your dog to accompany you. (They're next door to the dog park) Very friendly staff and excellent prices

  • Ben Kordash

A Belltown staple for beer, Marlboro cigarettes, and that one thing that your girl forgot at Safeway last night. A word of advise if you are not from Seattle: They can all tell and there's signs on your foreheads that say "free stuff, just ask"

  • A

Bought fried chicken 12pieces when I get home it's was old chicken it has an old after taste and it's so salty tried to call but no body answer the phone I'm very disappointed because it's says in the logo fresh cook chicken but it's not true

  • Stacy Malmoe

Awesome deli food a bit pricey but the bbq chicken is worth every penny it is delicious, they also sell or cooked individual meals like meatloaf w/ mashed potatoes, spaghetti ,ect. This is great for people who live alone and don't wanna cook

  • Barbara Bari

I love Dan's. I especially like three things--Their ever changing selection of fresh fruit, their pies (phenomenal pies), and a real paper newspaper. It's my favorite Belltown neighborhood market. The people there are always super nice too!

  • Jonathan Plumb

I gave four stars because they do their best. Not a mom and pop beer shop - they actually have groceries. It is just that they are a bit pricey because there aren't any big grocery stores near by. But they fill the niche for convenience.

  • Clifton Dawkins

These guys are honest!!! Such a rare trait to find in people these days, much less a business. I have had my dropped wallet returned, and a $200 bike light I used to hold my bike in place and left it. Kudos guys!!!

  • yeliz karadayi

Awesome improvements to the store itself but they now charge 3% for credit card on all purchases which is insane. Most places would do that if you pay under 10$ or so, but to do this for all charges is just harsh.

  • evane harris

whoever is making the banana bread a big thumbs up to you. The staff are always very helpful, I'm so thankful you are in Belltown. Great store has a bit of everything. My dog Darbie says they are dog friendly

  • Robin Geyer

Dan's is quite small but you find everything you need. The people are friendly. It is relatively cheap compared to the other stores in this area. Only point of critic: the fresh meat is of very low quality.

  • Stanley Janicki

Very high quality foods with prices to match. Would have given it 5 stars had the prices been slightly lower. Though if you are looking for great groceries in the Belltown area this is your one stop shop.

  • Evane Harris

Dan's been my neighborhood grocery since 2002 .They always try to get foods I've requested also prices are same as other stores the employees are nice . I like Dan's alot and continue to shop there

  • Jana Schwehm

Yesterday I bought a Reuben sammy 2 share with my friend/neighbor, Bitsy, a large bag of fresh Bing cherries, pasta salad + a big coconut cream pie. YUMMY!! That's PLENTY of food for LESS than $25!

  • Joanna McCarthy

I enjoy going to Dan's bc I like the people who work there and the products they have. What I don't like is the neighborhood and sometimes there are folks who stand outside and beg you for money.

  • Jason Bennett

'Sir please put the beer in your jacket up here so I can ring it up and DC ont argue cause I watched you steal it's. Lol. But employees have much tolerance and super kindness in a rough spot.

  • Tony scott

You want to be able to feel nice convenient market and the little Seattle carries everything that you need in a main store just in a small town corner store good hours open till late night

  • Paulette Gloger

Nice small nabohood store, very clean, fresh meats, produce, & good variety of can food selection. Milk, can soda's, beer, wine, sparkling waters. Pleasant people behind the counters.

  • Benjamin Kordash

The in-store fried chicken is bangin'! Especially the honey-drizzled biscuits. I would not call this a "grocery" store, more along the lines of an NYC bodega - smells like one too.

  • Arjel Heindrich

The bus station is full of junkies and homeless people. It looks dangerous outside the store. I hope they find a way to make their customer feel secured and safe.

  • James Michael

Changed owners kinda mad DAN AND RAY STARTED THE MARKET AND THERE LONG TIME EMPLOYEE MR JAY WHERE DID YOU GO MR. HE WORKED FOR THEM AT LEAST FOR 20 YEARS +..

  • Wade Bergeron II

This place is awesome they have normal stuff, but also specialty stuff like hard kombucha or beyond meat jerky. Now they have fried chicken.

  • falgoon. goswami

My experience is very good as there is many eatables and packed foods, veggie and crunchy chicken . Drinks, good place to visit. …

  • Alan Catchpole

The staff is super cool. The pre-made ready to cook meals look awesome. I'm waiting for the meatloaf and mashed potatoes meal to come back.

  • John Johnston

Love this place. It's been there forever. It's clean, the people are nice if you're nice. Good hours. Good selections for a small grocery.

  • Anil Bakshi

Quiet nifty useful neighborhood store. Grocery and alcohol and a deli making sandwiches and baking brownies before us. Quick in and out.

  • Steve Smith

Great selection of food items. They carry a lot of items you wouldn't find that your normal mom-and-pop Corner Grocery Store.

  • Malachi Smith

Good little store, but the neighborhood around it makes it a little sketchy. Decent prices and the staff are nice enough.

  • Danielle Peart

Ghetto! White Male Staff with long hair working Tues March 28 at 8pm is rude and very unfriendly! Overpriced as well

  • Dustin Clinton

Decent groceries to choose from, although it's pretty expensive, but you can't expect anything less for downtown

  • Miss 206

Thing are three times more expensive than othe places they wanted 17$ for a box of banquets fried chicken

  • Quin Roybal
