I called BenjaminBL plumbers because they were supposedly a 5* company. We had a leaking toilet and called them only for them to tell me that they could not come out for 7 days. We went ahead and took that appointment. A family member was here at that time and would turn the water off at night. Earlier this same year, that same toilet had a piece break off during the night and our home flooded impacting most of our house. This flood was two weeks to the day after major heart surgery. I explained my concern about a previous flood and they said they could not come before then. Our day of appointment arrived and 1/2 hour before the end of day, an employee called and canceled the appointment and said they could not reschedule our appointment until 7 more days. They would not schedule it the following day because they were committed all day. I was horrified that they were so unresponsive to our concern of a repeated flood and being that we are elderly, it was not something we could continue to turn on and off the water as we both have walkers. We called another plumber the following day and we received service that same day. BenjaminBL were shockingly unconcerned about our situation. It was disturbing how cold they sounded. I received your response claiming that my daughter was rude who spoke with you after I did. In fact that was not me and she was not rude, simply angry that you were postponing us for another week instead of coming the next day. You also waited until the end of the day to call us in a situation that could have caused us another flood. There was not an apology. Usually when you cancel a person, that person should be next in line for an appointment. Our daughter was afraid to return home to another state and have us with a potential flood as we’re elderly. Is the person so fragile that called that they can’t deal with anger about no service? Do we have to walk on eggshells when speaking with you? What if we agreed to another week and then you cancel again? One more thing we canceled your appointment. By the way you say you are veteran owned and I want you to know that you just let a 90 year old Korean War veteran down. I was adding this paragraph since you commented without us being able to say our side.

Hired for drain clog. Almost seemed too easy once they temporarily unclogged what was flooding our kitchen. It was a Friday night and whatever it was, they said it was a simple fix. We then asked them to look at our urinal and they said they would email us a quote soon. The next day, the same clog popped up and our floor drain was clogged all over again. Whatever they moved literally just turned over and went right to clogging our system again. The kitchen flooded on a Saturday night, one of our busiest evenings. We called multiple times, left messages, and tried emailing the only email we got from them as a copy of the previously paid invoice. No response. No email. No call back. I called during the week again and asked for a manager. The operator said she'd relay the message and see if they could discount a urinal fix. No call back. No email. No response. No discount on future projects. Nothing. We spent another $500+ (a machine is used to unclog the drain) on another company the day after Benjamin BL worked with us. That company called a couple days later to check on us and make sure everything ran smooth. That was much appreciated.. Benjamin left us burning and couldn't even follow up with us after we tried several times to reach them.

On 12/6/2021, I (CMP) contacted BenjaminBL LLC Plumbing Services and explained to them that my water heater was not working. Ms. Emily who was quite professional and gracious scheduled me for a next day appointment. Benjamin was prompt, on time, and listened to my plight. Let me say this, Benjamin did everything he possibly could to repair the water heater. This included contacting the manufacturer on my behalf which I also did multiple times in a 24 hour span. I made the decision and said can you get me a water heater today? Benjamin got my house up and running with a better water heater, warranties; both his company's and the manufacturer within 3 hours. Holy hot water! I've always said you get what you pay for in this country. Benjamin and Emily are understanding, and very professional. I even called their office the next day to replace a bathroom faucet and Benjamin came out and also made sure that the new water heater was running fine. I even got a full refund from the previous water heater company as apparently there is a noted manufacturer's issue. Thank you Benjamin and Emily and yes, I will be using them again for any of my plumbing needs.

SAVED THE DAY!! I had an always-cold shower so I called them up. The phone-receptionist was super cute and nice, always a plus. The guys showed up on time and I talked them through the problem. They were very upfront about the possibility that my 1950's pipes could bust at any time, and I signed a disclaimer in case fixing my problem caused other problems in my old system. I thought it was fair of them to cover their butts, and they were super clear on that point. A bunch of stuff is whack about my plumbing which they educated me on. No other plumber has ever told me most of this stuff. I really appreciated the education and I'm 98% certain they weren't just drumming up business, they were genuinely educating me. Love that. They quoted some big ticket fixes I should consider and then fixed the little thing, which did the trick. I'll absolutely use them when I'm ready to do the big fixes. Pricing-wise, I'm guessing these guys are slightly on the higher end, but I've learned what you get from cheapest-available in Austin Texas in 2021. Work with honourable people, y'all.

Benjamin and Emmerling have been nothing short of fantastic in helping me and everyone I've referred to recover from what has been a stressful couple of weeks since the great freeze of 2021. Emmerling has been outstanding in communicating with me and setting reasonable expectations in terms of timing of visits, billing, etc. Benjamin and his team have been really respectful and professional throughout, helping me to understand the issues/challenges and presenting multiple paths forward in consideration of budget, complexity, etc. Further, I feel like the pricing has been fair and that they've been really honest in terms of helping me to prioritize what needs to get done and what is less important. As to the specific work they've performed for me, they've replaced both an electric tank water heater and gas tankless water heater. I haven't hesitated to recommend them to several neighbors and family, all in just the last 3 weeks. I couldn't speak more highly in regards to the prompt attention and quality of the work.

During landscaping work, the main water line to my home was broken leaving me with low water pressure in my home. Benjamin came out the same day to investigate and help resolve the problem. He diagnosed the problem as debris in the interior water lines (a complicated problem). He scheduled a follow up visit the next day, Saturday, and was able to successfully use high pressure backflow to clear the water lines. After this, he cleared individual interior clogged lines and filters and replaced cartridges as needed. Throughout the process, he stayed in communication with me, invited me to "shadow" him as he explained what he was seeing and the options for repair, and finally walked through the entire house with me afterward to confirm everything was to my satisfaction (it was - good as new). It's taken me four years since relocating to Austin, but I finally have a great plumber to add to my "go to" list in case of problems!

The people were friendly. I requested gas lines to be evaluated. The young man who came to the house to evaluate and give an estimate was not experienced in this situation. The job was clearly out of his area of expertise. Then the estimate was considerably higher than even full replacement cost (based on area average price per foot). It was worth the $100 evaluation fee to request that he leave. I called another plumber who provided expertise over the phone that will save hundreds (you can search for my other review). This young plumber may be great at water pipes, but that's not what I asked for. UPDATE 11.29.22: Received a call from the company, an apology, an explanation, and a refund. I can’t remember how I was referred to BenjaminBL Plumbing, but I’m so glad I was. As a company, they are very responsive and friendly. We’ve had two situations now when we’ve needed a plumber, and each time we called BenjaminBL was a great experience. Benjamin is very knowledgeable, skilled, and super nice, to boot. He was quick to make repairs, explain the issue, and answer questions, including questions about a (no longer mysterious) outdoor drainage pump that was installed prior to our residency, and that no one else had a clue about. I also really appreciate that Benjamin talks with you, not at you or down to you. No one wants to have to call a plumber, but he made it a pleasant and painless experience. This has to be my best experience with an in-home contractor in the 12 years that I’ve lived in Austin. The two gentlemen showed up to do a hot water heater inspection, and I could immediately tell that they were professional and knowledgeable. So much was their initial impression on me, that I did the thing that all contractors hate and I started adding on other projects. They came for a water heater installation and then I added on a toilet and garbage disposal install and a buried outdoor plumbing repair. They came back a day later and completed all four projects, even though it went from 9AM to 6:30 PM. We had a plumbing leaks but didn’t know from where. Had another plumber come out to confirm that we had a leak but it was too small and he couldn’t figure out where and told us we would just have to wait for it to get worse. A neighbor recommended BenjaminBL to us so we called them for a second opinion. Benjamin himself came and found 3 small leaks using the one hole left by the previous plumber and only cut one more hole behind my fridge. The leaks were fixed quickly and problem was solved. This is a great company that can handle a plumbing crisis. Emmerling, Ivan, and Benjamin are a team and you can tell that they care about their work and their customers. I had a great experience w Benjamin Plumbing and Benjamin himself. He has all the good traits you could want; friendly, knowledgeable, and conscientious. I originally had him out initially to consult on some interior issues I wanted to address. During this process, Benjamin discovered that my unit’s water shut off valve had rusted off. We had a valve handle in the bathroom break off at 9pm on a Sunday causing a large leak. Hardware stores were closed as were other plumbers. I called Benjamin BL and they were on-site in less than 20 minutes and fixed it all correctly. We separately had them come out later to fix some other items. The receptionist is very professional and they were able to come for the service call promptly. The plumber was helpful, informative and responsive. He stayed all day at our place, into the night, to ensure that our problem was fixed. It was a big bill, but when there were later problems he quickly returned to rectify them and helped us out until it was fixed. We had 5 contractors come to diagnose our issue prior to Benjaminbl coming out. All the other contractors either had no idea how to diagnose/repair our tankless water heater. Benjaminbl came out and diagnoseed our issue in the first service visit and offered multiple options on repair and or replace. One week later when the parts arrived the crew came out and had our problem fixed in less than two hours. They are very professional and would recommend or work with them again.

Benjamin himself gave me an estimate on a water heater, and replaced two seized spigot collars!! Super quick service in under an hour, and explained everything we completed as well as answering multiple additional questions. I try to use local businesses whenever I can find them. Came out same day as I called them. Other plumbers were telling me a week out. Had to replace the water heater. They were able to replace the water heater and install all in the same day. John was here until 8pm doing the install. It was pricey but the convenience and ability to get it done on a holiday was worth it to me. Benjamin put in a natural gas line so I could connect my BBQ pit and generator. He was very helpful in explaining everything and I just know he did the job right. No cutting corners (except for the pipe of course) I feel comfortable he did a great job. We will know for sure after the inspection next week.
