As father of 3 children who have all attended this school for 3 or more years I think I have a rounded view of its strengths and weaknesses. First, the strengths. Well, the location is good. Frankly it's so close to where we live that enrolling our children was a no-brainer, this despite the school having no playing field or sports facilities of its own to speak of. The first year our two sons spent at the school were ok. Our younger daughter studied at the BCS kindergarten and naturally moved to the main school when she finished there. The school professes to specialise in music and science. I have to say, in 4 years we saw no evidence at all of this. Music lessons, beyond the basic school provision, are offered only for extra cost after school hours. For science, we saw absolutely no evidence of any coverage at all in either the primary or secondary schools. Despite our strong interest in our children learning German, they made absolutely no progress at BCS. When our eldest son joined the secondary school he was told that by 8th grade he would need to speak fluent German. Bearing in mind the complete lack of German tuition in the primary school I don't know how they expected that to happen. When we asked the primary school principal about this recently he justified the lack of German language tuition by saying that it "is an English language school". The teachers in BCS have an email culture. Any issues the teachers have with a student requiring extra help are sent to the principal who then writes to the parents. In 4 tortuous years we received probably two dozen letters detailing issues which, our experience shows, would be handled easily in class in other schools. We eventually put this down to the inexperience of the teachers but upon reflection seems to reflect the culture of the school, where any problems are simply pushed back onto the parents without any support or effort on the schools part. Disappointing. This is a school where approximately half the staff are so called "afternoon teachers". These are basically unqualified child minders with a simple social work certificate. One of these, still in post, is actually also a current nightclub bouncer whom we had the misfortune to witness brawling on the embankment near the East Side Gallery while attempting to keep people off a party boat. Children are left in the care of these afternoon teachers for up to 3 hours a day. Despite one or two outstanding teachers the overall level of tuition is poor. The primary school have recently lost one of these notable staff members, which in a school with recruitment problems already is a damaging blow. Whatever our experiences of the primary school, nothing prepared us for the BCS secondary school. Here the weaknesses of the primary school are multiplied due to poor management. Despite us having numerous meetings with the principal of the secondary school where we raised our concerns with the tuition, nothing ever changed and, as the principal took no notes at any meeting he often forgot, or worse even denied things he'd promised. Our worst experience at this school was when one of the teachers had a meltdown in front of a horrified class of 11 year olds and assaulted my son, pulling his hair and pinching the back of his neck. Despite this being witnessed by a class full of kids and the school issuing a generalized apology about the behaviour of the teacher they tried to cover up the assault and repeatedly tried to stifle mention of it. In the 4 years our 3 children were at the school, despite numerous letters and many meetings with teachers, the owner of the school spoke to us precisely twice, both times in passing as we entered or left the school. She was totally disengaged. Within 6 months of our children joining the school we felt it was a poor choice. After 4 years I can say it was a terrible one. Avoid if you have a choice.

Wir haben seit 2012 das Vergnügen unsere zwei Mädchen (erst Kindergarten, jetzt 2. Klasse und 4. Klasse) auf die BCS zu bringen und wollen sie auch bis zur 12. Klasse auf dieser Familiären Schule lassen! Unsere Kinder, sowie wir als Eltern sind absolut überzeugt, das diese Schule für uns genau die Richtige Wahl war und IST! Wir haben uns so viele Schulen angeschaut und nichts vergleichbares gefunden. Diese Herzlichkeit und Wärme neben dem Bilingualen Pensum, lässt unsere Kinder jeden Tag aufs neue begeistern! Wir finden es sehr gut, das trotz der Hohen Nachfrage nach Bilingualität diese Schule nur 2 Klassen á 22 Kinder hat und sich nicht vergrößert! Es ist so wichtig, dass die Kinder gerne in die Schule gehen, denn wenn man schon in der 1.Klasse keine Motivation findet, was dann.....? Die Schule ist so vielseitig und bietet ein buntes Afternoon Programm! Unsere Kinder lernen Deutsch(30%) und Englisch(70%) und es ist einfach wunderbar, sie im Urlaub —-Englisch—-sprechen zu hören....! Es gibt verschiedene Units/ Einheiten, die im Unterricht behandelt werden und somit ist er sehr Praktisch und nicht immer Theoretisch und langweilig! Wenn man ein Anliegen hat, wird einem sehr schnell geholfen und man fühlt sich verstanden! Es handelt sich ja schließlich um unsere Engel! Schon morgens beim in die Schule bringen (8.45 Uhr) wird man von der Direktorin persönlich am Eingangstor begrüßt! Wo bitte gibt es das noch !!! Danke, das ihr so toll seid!

Ich habe als mein Sohn schon 1,5 Jahre war angefangen mit dem Thema Schule mich zu informieren, da mir bekannt war das ich ihn definitiv nicht in eine staatliche Schule schicken wollte, außerdem wollte ich das mein Sohn auf eine bilinguale Schule geht. Er war im Kant Kindergarten dann haben wir auf die Metropolitan School gewechselt diese haben mich nicht überzeugt. Als ich dann auf die Cosmopolitan School gestoßen bin, davor habe ich natürlich sämtliche Schulen mir angeschaut die mich letztenendlich nicht wirklich überzeugt haben, dachte ich mir du wirst zwar jeden Tag einen Weg von 1h hin und zurück haben aber mal schauen. Dann hatte ich mein Termin bei der Cosmopolitan School bei Frau Impson die mich super beraten hat und bei der ich mich auf Anhieb Wohl fühlte dachte ich mir ENDLICH die Perfekte Schule gefunden. Mein Sohn ist seit 2011 auf dieser Schule. Im geht es dort sehr GUT er macht jeden Tag Fortschritte er fühlt sich sehr Wohl er liebt die Schule und hat viel Spaß. Das war die beste ENTSCHEIDUNG die mein Mann und ich getroffen haben. Und ich bedanke mich bei dieser Schule und dem Team das sie immer ein Offenes Ohr haben und das man sich auf anhieb Wohl fühlt. I worked in Berlin as diplomat from 2014 -2017 . During this period, my children attended Berlin Cosmopolitan School. The enrollment of my children brought about an increased growth in exposing their talents as well as shaped their lives for the future. BSC gave my children the needed space to express themselves confidently and expose them to modern techniques in learning. The School motto of respect, decency and excellence is imbibed as a culture among the pupils and students. With the training in BSC, Students are prepared to conquer their world environment and hold their space in any future endeavors. Wir sind vor 5 Jahren von einer staatlichen Berliner Schule - infolge von Unterrichtsausfall, gelangweiltem Schulkind und leider vielen wenig motivierten Lehrern - an die BCS gewechselt. Wir sind nach wie vor sehr glücklich über diesen Schritt und wissen unsere beiden Kinder in einer Schule mit hohem schulischen Anspruch, Bilingualität, mit unglaublich motivierten Lehreren und Nachmittagserziehern. Und gerade wenn beide Eltern berufstätig sind, bietet die BCS über ihr umfassendes Nachmittagsprogramm (Instrumentenunterricht, Sportclubs, Kunst...) bis 18 Uhr einen zusätzlichen Mehrwert, den all diese Eltern sehr zu schätzen wissen. Unsere Töchter gehen gern und motiviert in die Schule, dass sollte doch der wesentliche Gradmesser sein!

We arrived in Berlin almost 1 month ago and not one international or Europa school had a place for my 6 year old. As a last resort we tried the public system and to our surprise (yes, I know by law they must) there were also NO places, because he didn't speak German. Randi, was so helpful and kept on trying to find a place for him. Yesterday we got the good news that he can start after the Easter holidays. We are relieved that it is sorted now and he can start to make friends and make Berlin his home! Thank you for being so kind, caring and helpful at this very difficult time of moving to a new country with a new language. It is very much appreciated!

We r family of 5 just moved to Berlin few weeks ago. Our main concern was to find the right school for our 10 and 12 years old kids. They both are fluent in English and French, but know zero German. After some research we end up at Berlin Cosmopolitan School, where our needs were fully understood. To make the long story short, both kids LOVE!! the school. Students are very friendly to newcomers. Administration is helpful and teachers are doing their job great. Another amazing thing is that the school has kinder garden, so after school babies can see and communicate with older kids which is extremely nice.

Our son has recently enrolled in the BCS Berlin and we now really feel that we have finally arrived and are at home………after a long odyssey through both the private and public school curriculum’s available to our son….!! We are very impressed both with the extremely open and pleasant communication which we have with the school, and the richly diverse extramural activities offered, providing a stimulating and creative environment for the children!! Modern teaching methods and learning equipment go hand in hand with the functionally refined canteen making all in all an undeniably great school!!!

Ein kleiner Haufen von Betrügern kann einen ganzen Kindergarten versauern.Man sollte auf jeden Fall aufpassen, denn wenn Erzieher das 3te mal kein Gehalt bekommen haben, sind sie auch nicht mehr so aufmerksam und dann geht schnell mal die Motivation flöten.Wessen Kinder am Herzen liegen, sollte trotz gutem (aber ständig wechselnden)Personal sehr vorsichtig sein.Das trifft für die Rückerstrasse sowie auch Invalidenstrasse zu. Vom Management wird alles ausgesessen, und das restliche Personal fliegt wenn es die falschen Sachen sagt.

This school is awesome. I feel at home, and wake up happy because of my classes every morning. The food is delicious, the teachers are really friendly and open to questions, and my life is the best. Go to our school, and don't listen to Mr.smith over there

I learned in this school for an entire 2 years and the only thing I have to say about it is so bad that Google would probably censor it. I hate this school and think it should be shut down (and not only because of the cafeterias hygienic situation)

Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit BCS! Meine Tochter wird motiviert sich für Neues zu interessieren, sie lernt die englische Sprache 'nebenbei' und geht sehr gerne zur Schule, daß ist nicht zuletzt der persönlichen Atmosphäre zuzuschreiben.
