Everyone here is extremely rude and stuck up, officers judges and cleks all walk in lock step. You will get a warrent for any number of things including being late and not showing up, however the fist judge never showed up 1 hour waisted then after arriving to the main courtroom we are told you have three hours dont leave downtown 4 hours later everyons waiting to get inside the room and not only do they not care about waisting your time they seem to believe a 6 dollar reimbursement FOR THE DAY thats almost 2 dollars under minimum wage (wish i could hire 40 ppl to do what i say for 8 hrs and only pay 500 bucks but then again i cant issue those warrents when you can you can call peopl in and still charge them 1 third what your giving them. Great stuff guys. Also be aware that the surounding parrking lots have the signage and logos for jury members to paxk but charge full price no one in the courthouse seams to mind that they are using there signs to lure in "customers" to oay redicules parking. I still dont understand alot about this the officer just bark orders at you like your on trial asking a question gets you the same response as if you threaton someone. Everyone here is god awful.
Prepare for a long wait. I juried duty before and i have to say i don't like it , the seating is uncomfortable and the breaks are long at times. The cafeteria sux the cafe workers are just vendor zombies. There's three stations where food is served and the actual working kitchen area food sux the sub shop is alright. I mean with the money the city makes off of you and the tons of cases u would think the city would place a better kitchen and everything else u will see in the cafeteria. Your best bet is to eat out . Trust me. Over all the experience is systemic and once you're in its a lose-lose situation every time u get picked. Plan to spend at lease and up to $40 in cash for the day :gas or uber, lyft, snacking, lunch, parking, etc. Even if you plan not to spend money you still end up pulling out cash. All for $6 for the whole day! So have at it cuz your stuck there until they don't need you .
Last time I was there, I could see roaches in the cafe area. They make you wait for hours and then you’re not needed. They can’t seem to make any kind of decent ballpark estimate of how many jurors they’ll need until you’ve spent the whole day there without even being put on a panel. The building is not clearly marked for those of us who don’t spend much time in the downtown area. Driving and parking is difficult and dangerous IMO because of the heavy traffic and poor city signage. Taking a bus also poses difficulties in interpreting the schedule and not knowing if they will send you elsewhere. At least they don’t give you a lecture like some courthouses in this state do. I came to jury duty and did whatever you asked - why are you lecturing me? Lecture the ones who didn’t show up! This place at least gets that right.
Honestly it wasn't bad, it was my first Jury Summons and it wasn't bad, Harris County is far worse. The food was not much different than Diner quality and I enjoyed my Patty Melt, what bothered me was one of the staff charged tip when he was the cashier....tip 15% tip for what...doing your job? But who do you point out injustice to about someone charging tip who shouldn't have been as the woman at lunch did not charge tip. I found it funny someone in the staff, is committing a crime while working at a crime dealing facility. Aside from that food ordeal, I thought the bailiffs were all some fun individuals, I thought maybe fix the phone charging outlets, but it wasn't the worst experience.
A good place to go if you want to contemplate the fall of western society. It’s very hard to sit in these seats for hour on end. My legs ache and I keep imagining my blood vessels clotting from inactivity. I heard the breakfast tacos were good, and would like to try them. I wasn’t able to eat breakfast before I came, and was hoping to. But, now I am sitting here surrounded by a sea of people. All I can think about is getting a taco and walking around outside. The weather is nice today. Rainy and cool. Update: had the tacos. They were filling and tasted alright, but I should not have had them. I don’t know if I can hold them in until 5pm.
The men (security) were rude when "helping" me find the right office. They wanted me to literally throw away my pepper spray they will not keep it till you return like most places do. Sorry no i will not throw it away it is for my protection. He talked down to me the whole time when I asked a simple question. I am not from here just here trying to pick up paperwork.
This review is just for the lack of access for the handicap! Seriously my mother had to walk from the old Court house drop off area and walk to the new court house then walk to the the other end to reach the dispute and resolution office! What a disrespect to the elderly and handicap!
The court coordinator for the 227th district court has a very bad attitude and will never return a call. She thinks she is the judge and not a county employer. She needs to resign or at least take a class on civility. She will not do anything for the folks who call in for assistance.
Sister was married at the court house by Rosie Speedlin Gonzalez. Best experience. Judge was so friendly along with her great staff. They made you feel like family. Thank you for the great beautiful ceremony. Thank you again Judge Rosie Speedlin Gonzalez.
Everyone at the courthouse is rude and works inefficiently. No one there is helpful or nice to customers in any way whatsoever. They seemingly take the greatest possible amount of time to do any task.
Summons says be here at 8 am on Saturday March 24th. Been circling building for an hour and a half just to be told jury duty isn’t on saturdays. Thanks for being on top of your jobs guys.
Dont eat the food there! Tasted and looked like they never clean anything. Chicken didnt even look or taste like chicken. Made me instantly sick and had to go puke up the food
Pick people who sit on their butts and live off the government! Not people who work for a living to support their family.
Even though you’re not eligible. They’ll make you sit there and go “through the process.” A complete waste of time
Great looking building and a very friendly atmosphere in the courtyard, food truck and everything!
If you want a fair trial, request to move the venue to different county.
Those Buildings are really historic , old and nice.
Military style movement of the jury pool.
Straight and to the point of Jury Duty..
Great people and they take my money
Terrible wait game.
not giving me hours
It's very organized
There is no help.
Very busy place
