BIRDIES!!!! 5stars! I have been a frequenter of this establishment since 2014 and I have not written a review until now. I have been on a Thursday night, Friday nights and Saturdays. Back in the day, it was a cool eclectic place with the guests being the main reason I went. I recently visited Birdies this past Friday night after a comedy show (look for my review of The Comedy Zone) and it was PACKED! I do not know if it's a good thing for people like me who like small intimate places to sit/talk and perhaps play a game of pool or two and DANCE! Also, I noticed that the caliber of person had changed as most were in their 20's. As I am old enough to be these guests' mother, I could have easily felt out of place. However, I enjoyed myself by stifling my judgement as an ageist. The same DJ playing a variety of great music from the decades, great staff and a feeling of safety had not changed. When you are in the Duval area and wish to check out a place with no cover (21+ people), this is the spot for you. They even serve FREE water in a cooler by the restrooms in the back. Yes, it is wheelchair accessible and parking has never been an issue for me. I always seem to find a spot nearby. The BEST part? Guiness on TAP!
Hey everyone, Mt wife and I just moved to Jacksonville from Chicago, Atlanta, Memphis then Jacksonville. We went to Birdies, and as a club consultant, Birdies would be a magnificent club if they catered to the crowd with their music. My wife and I went on a Friday night and the music was HORRIBLE.. As a club consultant, my job is to make your club bring in more revenue and to thrive. However. the DJ went on intermission and left the music scene dry for about an hour..No go on a Friday night..Also, when it's time to change the music, it's time to change from Techno to whatever the crowd is jamming off.. I watched the bar and watched the crowd walk In and right back out the door..It's the music! Change it if you wanna see REVENUE! I have been helping clubs to get their REVENUE up for years..Trust me..It's definitely a great club with lots of potential! I will be trying it out again to see if any changes will made..If not then, I'll be seeking other places to spend my money
Nothing out of the ordinary, and you won't be surprised with anything here other then the people that you might see. Good for people watching. It's a straight hipster's paradise. Although I wouldn't wear anything nice to this bar. Not only for the fact you'll stick out like a sore thumb, but you'll also ruin it. This place has got to be the worst bar in Jacksonville for non-smokers (ok that's debatable). It has a wonderful outside seating area that's usually packed, but even outside the smoke is so bad that it's hard to breathe if you're a non-smoker. The actual bar area is lame. It's terribly small and often times tough to squeeze your way in to get a drink. I certainly wouldn't bring any out of town friends here as a must see dive bar, but more so of a swing in for a few drinks if in the area and bored out of my mind. And don't care if i go home stinking like used dirty cigarettes.
Go to any other place and save your money! Unless, you're craving $20 ice in a cup. Has got to be the most horrendous bar in Jacksonville. Drinks are trash and the employees have been vocally rued to customers for no reason. I do not recommend this place. I do not care how much you've been drinking because it's not worth the disappointment. I have had friends that have told me they were not allowed into this place even though the were of age and dressed up nice and clean. A worker named Tyler decided to be prejudice on the job that night and refused to let them in. Even though, he looked at their license and noticed that it was a legal government id. Tyler decided to make up his own rules that night and had them feeling very embarrassed and confused. WHY ELSE ARE THEY NOT ALLOWED IN VERY SUSSSS
I was there for pride and kept an open time every time I ordered a drink my car got authorized so I showed a charge for a $150 a reversal for a $150 a charge for $50 a reversal for a $150 this went on 10 times and my bank declined my card when my card was declined and my husband's card declined the bartender went and got this big black man that came up to the bar and kept saying what are you gonna do now what are you gonna do now finally we contacted our bank and they authorize the transaction I just think this could have been handled much better then the way it was handled not sure we'll ever be back
I went for the first time to watch the Lakers game, and I was pleasantly surprised with the diversity of the crowd. They have an outdoor seating area that plays music and has a projector for you to watch. Inside is a small dance floor with a live DJ. Further in is an open area where you can have a seat in the bar area and near the back are a couple pool tables and TV. It's pretty much a One-Stop shop for a date night, quick drink with friends, happy hour, or if you wanted to play pool and just relax.
Not really a place i would choose to go to again. Nothing it necessarily wrong or bad about it, it's just not the kind of bar i normally like to frequent. Very loud, music as well as other people, also pretty crowded. Standing room only inside especially during peak hours. I'm more of a dive or lounge kinda guy, but if loud close quarters is what you're looking for, you'll no doubt have a much better time. I will say their decor is decent and they have a solid bar selection.
Birdies is my favorite spot in Charlston. It's so much fun! The big screen playing vintage films overhead the dancefloor enhances the scene so much, and the DJ knows just what to play, and requests never take too long. The drink specials are on point, the outside deck garners a lot of chance-conversation while still offering space, and the layout is just great all around. The crowd it brings in is preferable to most that are similarly geared towards college-age.
Hot af in there. The music isn’t bad I’ve gone a few times and the music that’s played is repetitive they don’t really play anything else. The dj does good job with playing a variety of music he just doesn’t let it play for more than 40 seconds at least that’s what it feels like. The dance floor is small they could open it up a bit more and add some fans in there or something it feels like you are in a sauna if not worse. But it’s also a good time when you go.
This was second time going and I won’t be back. They let anyone in there and 85% of the people come to dance and basically participate in an alcohol free house party. This is why there are covers, to keep money in your pocket no matter what people do in your bar and to keep “free riders” out. Also, was hotter than blazes inside. I would only go back to use it as a sauna . They play great new and early 2000s rap music which is why I’m giving it 2 stars .
I don't know if I would call this a dive bar it's kind of small and there was only one pool table that I saw but there was also a photo booth. I know it's been around forever in Five Points but I only went for one drink. The bartender was super chill and the cocktail he made me was perfect. There was also an icy machine behind the bar that is putting out a coffee cocktail which I sampled and it was very delicious so definitely will be going back.
This was the best place we've found since moving to the area. It had a nice independent, eclectic vibe. The crowd was quite diverse. It felt like a public house party; lots of grooving. I was told the crowd can vary nightly since it was our first time there. There was no cover and the have a DJ every night. There were a couple of pool tables and fun mosaic pieces on the patio and porch. We are already planning checking out another night.
Service is always prompt and drinks always taste great. Prices aren't bad (at least for margaritas - it ranges from $4 to $5 depending on the hour). The other customers are usually swell too. I've had strangers join our table before and carried on great conversation, and I've left my phone in the bathroom before - it got promptly turned into the bar, which I was grateful for. Bathroom has neat decor and is always clean in my experience.
Favorite bar in Jacksonville by far, it's in a great location close to a movie theater, great food and two parks. It has such a fun and unique atmosphere and if you're looking for a place to meet really friendly folks this is a good place to start! I really think it's the sort of bar that emcompasses what Jacksonville's scene is about and the people here reflect that. The staff is great too and the drinks are decently priced!
Great place - nice vibes. The DJ, Matthew, had us in awe. Played a song I was thinking about asking him to play — music I love that I’d never hear at any club. He has great skill. All the bartenders were friendly and personable too. Morgan went above and beyond and completed the whole experience. We even met people there and ended up chilling for the next night and day before we came back home to PA. 5/5 experience.
Went to Wall Street first and got watered down drinks. If you’re a local, probably the place for you, but also very smoke filled. It was meh. Then went to Rain Dog and stood there for 15 minutes without even getting served anything. Kind of a hipster place. Then we came here. If you wanna dance, play pool, chill at a bar, this is the spot. Very relaxed, decent bartenders, generic music, but overall a fun place.
Going with 2 stars at this point. Bartender pushie & rude. Was only few people there. Threw a 7 dollar drink together so it would taste like a 2 year old made it. Waste of time, frozen microwaved pizza rolls only thing on the menu. Reviews below this must be employees. What a bad joke. Served a margarita in a small rocks glass all ice. Gone in 3 sips, I was gone before I swallowed. Waste of time.
Have been coming here for a long time & always had a good time. Started coming less though since they put up signs that you can no longer vape on the patio.... with a lot of smokers in our group we end up going somewhere else now.... its dumb to have to walk out to the sidewalk to vape, when you have to leave your beer at the table... as a female, dont feel safe leaving my drink unattended....
Fabulous as always! Fantastic service, clean bar (& bathrooms), friendly, happy crowd. Busy & popular but not too packed. Pool tables in back, outdoor tables in front. **Bonus if you're a scotch drinker like myself**" they serve Johnnie Walker Gold... I love my Johnny Green but I must say that the Gold was oh so smooth I don't know if they have it every day but they did on Valentine's day.
It was ok. Super trendy name for drinks, but the flavor profile to the drinks were a lil to light and lacking tbh. Atmosphere had potential but not really sure since I visited on one of the coldest days in Jax Florida for the past 4 years. So that remains to be seen. First impressions are everything but I think I’ll try it once more and give it another review later
Birdies is always a good time! Even though it get's packed on the weekends the bartenders are on point and they make great drinks an quickly. The bathroom is always clean and the DJ plays great music to dance to. The outside area is perfect for taking a break and socializing with lot's of seating and the bouncers are professional and serious but friendly.
Had a great time at Birdies! Kayla is my favorite bartender and goes above and beyond to make me fantastic drinks, even if they aren't on the menu. Thankful karaoke has been going on Wednesdays, always so much fun. Doesn't have the same crowded feel since it reopened after Covid quarantine. Definitely love the new vibe and management!
My boyfriend introduced me to this bar and each time we come i always have a great time. I love its only $1 to play pool and its a great way to make customers stay and continue to buy drinks. We always do..lol. I will say i wish the place was larger with more pool tables but will continue to enjoy Birdies with my family and friends.
Used to be a really nice place where you can hear a variety of music of very nice mixed crowd I felt like a vanilla cream in a Oreo situation where it was only hip-hop and they were not play a variety of music I will never go back there anymore As I was walking to my car are young man came up and threaten my life and stole my purse
Wasn’t impressed with the cleanliness. Friday night, wasn’t busy at all and place could have used some tender loving care. Restroom smelled like vinegar and there were small flies all over. Bartender was very nice and drinks were great and reasonably priced. The shopping around the establishment closes really early (6pm).
This is a great bar in a great part of town. Birdies is located not too far from the St. Johns river with lots of other great restaurants and bars close by. The five points are has shopping and is considered the historical artsy district of Jacksonville.

I’ve been to a lot of bars. I mean A LOT of bars. I’ve never had a personal connection like I did with the manager (I think his name is Cody or Cory). When he asked to walk me to my car at the end of the night I told him no.. because I have very little will power and I just didn’t know if I could resist his charm
Oh my their drinks are DELICIOUS! Especially the lavender green tea one. Mmmm! The back area is really nice too. The gate is sketchy though as some people sneak in through the back instead of walking through the front where ID is checked. Might be worth it to have an employee there to prevent underaged drinkers.
Birdies can be great during the day, but at night you typically have to fight a crowd to get a spot at the bar, bartenders have never been very attentive; in all the years I've gone you have to fight for a drink. If you can snatch a booth or pool table that usually yields the best experience here.
A staple in Jacksonville -and most definitely in Riverside. No two nights are the same, as far as crowd / music goes. Inexpensive drinks and the only place people dance in 5 Points. Gets insanely crowded Fri / Sat night, so if you're looking for a party meet-up, it's a good place to start / end.
Great atmosphere and they had several independent venders that offered crafts, jewelry, macarons, vintage items, beautiful was candles. We were able to find a pair of converse Batman in the Goldenchild's size (never worn and black as well as extra white shoe laces with Batman logos on them)!
Too crowded and the bar doesnt flow well. The barbacks have to squeeze their way back and forth by the pool tables. Drinks were alright and tables have a lean to them but thats to be expected for a bar table. They have some really neat artwork on the walls as well that added a cute touch.
Went in with my gf and sat down for about 5 minutes while another couple was at the bar, no one batted an eye so we just left. Doesn't seem to care about people if it's not already busy/Not someone they know. Wouldn't go back, as first impressions are everything and they didn't satisfy.
I love this place. I’ve gone twice and both times I enjoy the vibe in there. I do recommend. They as well have a pool table. The place is also clean. The drinks are great and the bartender was amazing. I recommend trying the drinks in there menu. I love how it looks in there too.
This was a great night. The DJ was cool no extra sound effects like other djs and let them play for more than 2 minutes before thing you another song. The drinks strong and not too pricy. The place got packed around midnight. Will definitely return when bar hopping in Riverside.
Five Points in Jacksonville is always lit anytime we go on vacation so I definitely have to give this place a review not only because that's my nickname but because we had a damn blast!! The energy was big, the crowd was lit, the drinks were good and the vibe was everything!!
It's a nice bar that's open late, good drink selection, I just wish you could smoke on the patio instead of having to walk out like a shameful smoker. But the staff is very friendly the drinks are reasonably priced and like I said they are one of the bars that are open late
Cody has taken this place from an overrated 3 to a five star joint in months. During the pandemic, no less. I live nearby and it is officially my new not-quite-on-the-corner bar. Best drinks I've had in a while, and I was well trained and make some damn good ones at home...
I had a good time. I didnt understand the line that did not move for 20 minutes... when I got I side, the whole back room was half empty. Yet, I had a fun time. The DJ was on point. The bartenders watered down the drinks, but that was no surprise... $5 cover was new to me!!
Birdies was a very good experience for more of a lounge and drink type night. The bartenders are fast and the place is always full of nice people. If your looking for food though this is not your place, they only had 3 food items on the menu, but we go for drinks of course.
Great bar with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Karaoke night on Wednesdays is always fun.

Great place full of fun people and quick friendly bar tenders. Once a month near the end of the week on Fridays JACKS NIGHT. A gay mens happy hour usually from 6-9 Have a fun time meeting new people. 2 pool pay pool tables and small dance floor also covered patio.
A buddy of mine and I were in town last weekend for the JAGs game. Courtney was our bartender and she was amazing. If it wasn't for her hard work and fun attitude we would have left. If anyone goes, make sure Courtney is your bartender. Go Jags!
If ur use to a bar where ppl jus stand around and look tough all night. This place isn't for you, because these guys kno how to party.. it's kind of like a judgement free zone. Everyone seems to let their hairdown, and jus party. As much as
Pretty cool eclectic looking place. Has a little bit of something for everybody. Good beers on tap and good liquors for decent prices. Good vibes and good staff. Sucks that you can't smoke or vape on the outdoor pateo any more but I get it.
Best priced drinks in 5 Points. Music/DJ depends on day of the week. I prefer Fridays because the DJ plays some old school music. Fridays and Saturdays are more of a club environment than bar. There are a couple of pool tables in the back.
Very popular place apparently. They seem to embrace pop culture which is a bit of a barf for me. But my double whiskey coke was a dollar cheeper than the bar next door. And i got a phone number from a hardcore chick. So solid 4 stars.

Crowded and hot. Sometimes they charge a cover and sometimes they don’t. It’s a guessing game until you get to the door. Drinks aren’t very good and they charge more than anyone else in the area. Well rum and coke cost me 6$
The bouncer they have standing out front is larger than the outdoor patio. Once you can squeeze through the entrance you walk into a sardine can of a dance floor. Beware of all of the bearded hipsters and trashy women.
Great vibe on a Friday night. Get the ICEE... O-M-G! Like an alcoholic milkshake! Delicious, goes down so fast! Watch out for brain freeze. So good we came back the next day for more! ❤️ …
Birdies is ALWAYS the place to be. I have been going to that building since it was the starlite cafe. Great people, great drinks. All around excellent place. The guy in the big black boots IS CRAZY about Birdies!
Love the updates. Cool vibe. It can get crazy in Riverside so I usually dip by 1230-1 at the latest to avoid the craziness. The earlier you go, the more chill it is.

A real solid neighborhood bar. Friendly and efficient bartenders. It tends to get super busy on the weekend. Usually a nice place to start the bar hopping for the night and return to later in the evening.
Great place but not a fan of how they process credit cards when keeping tab using multiple $20 approvals rather than one charge.

Birdies was okay. They have a heavy pour on the alcohol, yummy! They have one pool table. Mainly standing room. They do have a few high tables and chairs on the front patio. Staff was very friendly.
Hmm had high hopes. Got 3/4ths of a pint of Guinness (yes I pointed it out). Homie wouldn’t even acknowledge being miserly with the pour. I would definitely comeback if I want to feel ripped off.
Cody was awesome. First time visiting Jax and he was extremely welcoming and steered me towards an amazing meal around the corner. Bar was eclectic and fun 10/10 would visit Birdies again
We loved Birdie’s. It reminded us of a spot in Atlanta. They be busy on weekends but they have great drinks and the music was awesome. Played all the hits and jams to keep you dancing!
Unique place. Its about a 50/50 Straight and Gay bar and everyone always seems to get along. 2 pool tables you can get on earlier in the night. Great walking area. Good music
2 very enthusiastic thumbs up! One of the best SKA bars I’ve ever been too. Def the best SKA bar in northeast Florida. Top tier service as well. 10/10 will visit again.
Birdies is always great. Kind of a small venue but the drinks are nice and the people are even nicer. The iced Irish coffee is on point a true 5 points staple! …
Geion was so friendly and the atmosphere was awesome! We loved all of the modern artwork and the bedazzled wall! Will definitely be back! ❤️ …
Bartenders were absolutely phenomenal! Music was outstanding. Great time with la familia! Will definitely go back again! Thanks for such awesome memories, guys!
Excellent Staff! Quick bar service, fun environment! And bathrooms were decent too! Even has a pool table! absolutely coming back! Music was a vibe ~ …
Basic bar with very good DJs and staff. Place gets very crowded and is too hot. I think Birdies would be much better if it had a cover charge for men ($5).
Good DJ. Drinks are reasonable, only lit spot in Jacksonville if you ask me. If your looking for hip hop music to vibe to, this will be the place to go.
Atmosphere and staff are always amazing here. One of our favorite places to go!

I had a good time, the bartender was nice and quick to show a menu, I played some pool with the girlfriend. Overall a great place with good drinks.
My best place to go and have a drink thebar tenders are so hard working and know what you want and make great drinks. Let's good party...!!
Cheap beers, good music, quick service. For such a busy bar, it’s kept pretty clean. LOVE that they don’t allow smoking inside! Huge plus.

I love the vibe here. Friendly, welcoming. Good drinks and prices. One of my favorite dive bars in Jacksonville.
Great drinks, and lively atmosphere. Don't forget to close out your tab, or you'll end up with a hefty fee
Usually come here Wednesday nights for Karaoke! Love the environment and the way the place is set up
Great crowd of people. Friendly and fun! Drinks were perfect and I love the bartenders. …
Having the best time right now!! This place is friendly and the staff are at there BEST!!!!!
