The atmosphere is very nice. The building is beautiful and is a renovated theatre. A lot of awesome history, art and workers!! Everybody we spoke to or helped us was friendly and nice! 16 bucks for an hour on a lane PLUS shoes! My girlfriend and I were celebrating our 2 year anniversary and we would definitely go back if we ever come back to Dallas! They have a cool "Pink pin" (you have to ask about it) and if the pink pin is in the front and a worker sees you make a strike, you get a free shot!! It must be witnessed by staff or recorded. I was skillful and lucky enough to earn a free shot!! They had a cool bar and on the upper level they had pool tables. One table had 4 duplicate balls so we had to trade with the other table which only had 2 balls. And the position of the tables, you have to make some awkward shots. I would definitely like to see a live performance there which happens on Saturdays i think. And the manager Jon (i believe thats his name) was very helpful and told us some of the history of the company and building super cool staff!! Fun times and definitely reccomend for date nights, friend hang outs or family nights!!!
*Please read* My friend, my wife and I all arrived at 5pm, we were able to get service at the front desk after about 15 minutes wait. This was not a big issue, but when we paid a little over $100 for 2 games and went to our lane, our lane wasn’t turned on. I had to wait back in line for them to turn my lane on. After turning my lane on we discovered the lane wasn’t working. We had to wait until nearly 6pm for them to “fix” our lane. After “fixing” our lane, we discovered the lane still was not working. We were there sitting frustrated and bored wanting to bowl for over an hour after paying a little over $100 between the three of us. The only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 star is that the lady who tried to fix our lane genuinely seemed like she was sorry, however, sorry doesn’t change that all of our time got wasted and now we don’t have time to go bowling tonight because we had to ask for a refund and leave because we had reservations. I wouldn’t recommend coming to this bowling alley because it has out of date equipment that isn’t reliable and doesn’t work properly.
This has to be the worst bowling alley I have ever been to. Within 5 minutes of bowling, we immediately left and were fully refunded. Right from the start, our lane was full of bowling balls and they were overflowing into other lanes. There were empty food plates and numerous drinks left on the table from previous guests in our lane. Other guests were taking up all the seats available in our lane. There is absolutely no organization at this alley. It took about 5 minutes for the frames to reset. Around 2 frames in the pins were not setting correctly and would all fall over. I would be led to believe that this happens a lot as the manager fully refunded us without even questioning why we had a bad experience. When talking to a worker he claimed that this happens all the time as the machines are from 1938. I had a solution for him - how about update them or fix them? Please do not waste your money or your time at this bowling alley. I will never come here again nor will I recommend anyone to come here.
We had a very unsatisfactory experience tonight. I want to say that the woman working the front desk was the only one working tonight, a Saturday night, and she is basically a superhero. She was expected to ring up customers, provide rental shoes, wipe down lanes between customers, AND fix broken lanes (and there were MANY broken lanes). She was basically set up to fail, and yet she had an amazing attitude. This would be a 1-star review if not for her. First of all, the price is $17 per person, when most bowling alleys charge per lane, so it cost $85 for a group of 5 of us to bowl one lane for one hour. Except we didn't get our whole hour because the lane broke when we were halfway through our first game. It was 15 minutes until it got repaired, and I'm sure that the lovely employee would have gladly added the time to our session, but the experience killed the vibe. Mainly because the people in the lane next to us had their lane break 4 times in their one-hour session.... we weren't down for that.
Great place to enjoy with friends and family. The steampunk bowling lanes make this place unique, there's pool tables upstairs with a balcony that overlooks the bowling lanes and a stage that stands tall over the bowling lanes with live performances on the weekend. The drink menu, is just so-so. The flavorless, "frozen ranch water" needs to go! We want to drink something that tastes just as good and unique as t Great place to enjoy with friends and family. Honestly one of the best double date nights I’ve had. It was a fun ambiance and the smell of a classic bowling alley made it that much better. The only complaint I had was our waitress was quiet inexperienced and messed up our food orders a couple of time and just stood next to us while we were signing our checks......that was a tad uncomfortable, but management handled it swiftly and showed us the utmost professionalism. They truly made sure we didn’t have a bad time and that is definitely ensuring that we are coming back. Went for 4 to 3: Wish the kitchen stayed opened later or at least there was kitchen hours, it’s really disappointing to hear the kitchen closed early especially if we were coming hungry just to learn that they closed early and have to leave to get food then come back. This is the 3rd time this has happened to us.
The place is fun and eclectic. Service was okay. That is 5 stars. However it’s 2 stars because it’s dirty. The rental shoes are destroyed in the common sizes. The counter person was not spraying anything in the shoes as a disinfectant. The balls looked like the hadn’t been cleaned or polished since the 80s. The restrooms are gross and dark with only one restroom on the first floor and one stall and one urinal for the entire place in that restroom. I felt like I was at a dive bar or rural gas station in the boonies rather than a family place in the city. The lanes and computers functioned good. For the same entertainment in a cleaner environment and better service I would go to main event.
Visited first time this past Saturday. Pros: Staff is friendly. Our server in bowling area was fast with our orders. Prices are reasonable. Cons: Bad lane management. We walked in at 6pm, they told us it'd be a 2 hour wait. So we walked around the corner for dinner. I get a call 40 mins later that a lane is open. We rush back only to be told that we can only play one game because a party reserved lanes at 8pm. Pretty lame. Furthermore, our lane kept getting stuck multiple times where they had to physically go to the pin setter and fix whatever the problem was. Stopping our play multiple times. Management made no effort to rectify the problem.
I wish I could say good things about this venue. The one good thing is the short hair Hispanic dude working the front who hustle the front desk and fixing the lanes every 5minutes. He doesn’t get paid enough for all he has to do, that’s for sure! We were switched 4x due to the lanes not working. They have 10 lanes and 5 of those do not work. Lane 2-4, 8, and 9 do not work. They charge a flat fee for the hour, but it is not worth it when you have to go to the front every 5minuted to let them know the machine is not working again. Owners: Do something about it! The Lakewood community will stop support due to the negligence of the establishment
Came here about two weeks ago for the first time. Enter to two workers who didn’t even greet us; they were on their phones. My group of 5 all paid ~ $18 per person for an hour to bowl, but only bowled for 20 minutes since the lane broke down and no one was there to help us. We ended cutting our loss and left. I know it’s not a pro bowling place but the lanes are probably one of the worse between lanes not being properly oiled and multiple lanes breaking down while we were there. Heard the pizza rolls were good there, but didn’t even try it since the bartender was super slow. Save your money and time and go somewhere else.
I love that they kept so many aspects of the Lakewood theatre the same but I paid $20 to get in and noticed not everyone playing had a wristband. Not only that but it was $17 each person on top of that to bowl for an hour, we had a party of 4, so that's almost $70 for only one hour of bowling. $70 for the balls to not be cleaned at all (I'm talking layers of grime on the balls) and our alley malfunctioned setting up the pins midway through so we had to get someone to fix it! For the same price you could go to Dave and Buster's where the balls are clean and the arcade is 10x bigger. EDIT: there was no live music lol
This is hands down the worst bowling alley I’ve ever been to. I’ve never left a 1 star review before but if any place ever earned it it’s this one. #1 - We were told the wait for a lane was 45 mins and we waited 2 hours to play #2 - NONE of the scores were accurate. Hit two pins? They call it a strike. Roll a gutter ball? 3 pins. Hit a strike? 9 pins. Every frame was wrong and it ruined the experience. #3 - the drinks were very bad #4 - they charged us $40 for the band as a cover. It cost $150 for 4 people to bowl for 1 hour Honestly I wanted to like this place so much but it was just bad.
This place has a great atmosphere with many different games to play, but jeeze if you’re trying to bowl go somewhere else! The bowling ball failed to return a total of 13 times. They moved us to a new lane halfway through, but the same thing occurred. We were not able to finish one game with four people bowling in 1.5 hours. They did give us an extra half hour, but the ball obviously continued to get stuck. Staff was friendly, but they had to keep fixing the machine. Would have been much happier if they would have just told us to wait 30 minutes for a working lane.
The staff was friendly and provided great service. The equipment and price are the only reason for the lower rating. They have very few lightweight bowling balls, so in a group containing 3 women, we had to bowl the majority of our time with equipment that was too heavy. Also, the system rarely calculated each bowl correctly, so we had to correct the score after every roll for each person. For the price they charged us to play, we should have been able to bowl with equipment that was our preferred weight and had the scores calculated correctly by the system.
We came here on a Saturday. We had to wait a little over an hour for a lane to open up. So we went to the bar/club next door and waited on Bowlski to text/call us. I paid about $51 or so for a lane for the 3 of us. It is a cute little bowling alley. They don't have much lanes, about 5 or 6. I guess this is why the wait time can be so long. Our lane system had to be reset about 3 to 4 times because sometimes the pins weren't being taken up, or the player board gets screwed up. Overall it was a fun little experience. Also, you can get drinks at the bar.
I give it 2 mostly because of the atmosphere and drinks but it is not Big Lebowski bowling alley vibes. Not sure the last time they saw the movie or been to an old bowling alley but this ain't it. This bowling alley is small, only 10 lanes. It's an old movie theater renovated into a bowling alley. Lebowski's bowling alley is an actual bowling alley with regular sized lanes. These lanes here are short and cramped together. Lanes aren't lit up and can't see the lane markers. It still has the vibe of an old movie theater like Inwood movie theater.
Service was quick and friendly. The staff is considerate and kind. This spot has cool, retro vibe with 90s music. My 3 friends and I came on a Saturday evening. The one negative aspect is that large groups (6+ ppl) patrons weren’t wearing masks even after eating and drinking. I will definitely come back again when the pandemic is over. There’s also a neat, funky Projector Bar overlooking the bowling alley. This is better than Bowl and Barrel. This place is worthy checking out for a date or friend get together :) after COVID-19
The entire staff seems to be on drugs and burnt out. Probably the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. We sat at the front for 10 minutes while an anonymous lady reached over the counter to use the computer, we asked her if she worked there and she waived us away and said no. We then walked over to the bar and we’re told by the bartender to just give her a minute. It was the same lady. She was acting weird and strung out, pretended she didn’t see or hear us…Don’t waste your time here.
Kitschy little place. Only a few lanes, there's a stage above the pinsetters for music on the weekends. The machines are not really that well kept so paying by the hour vs paying per game is relatively unfair. (As a former purchaser I can attest to the guy working that Brunswick A2 machines are common and really not old). Drinks are relatively expensive for what you're getting. Most of the prices reflect a live music venue and not a bowling alley. Could really be a good place to bowl with some TLC.
Works out great for kids. First they have bumpers. They don't care if the ball is dropped 3 ft to the hardwood lane. Would not meet the requirements of a professional bowler, but it beats the requirements for family fun. Food choices are limited, have pizza. Beverages have free refills. Charging buy the hour, hard pressed to get Grandpa, daughter and kids age 4 & 7 to finish in time. Automatic scoring. In the photo you can see its a converted theater. Safe neighborhood and parking outside.
Bowlski's is so cute - I love how the Lakewood Theater has been restored! There's ample parking available; however, I went on a weekday, so not sure how the parking situation is in the evenings or on weekends. If you go there during 3 to 6 pm on weekdays, you can get the happy hour bowling rate. The staff is very friendly and accommodating! If you get hungry, you can always munch on the delicious pizza and if you're thirsty, there is a full bar available. Very fun place to go bowling!
This place has a very cool vibe. Almost too relaxed. Came on a Sunday around 12 and was assigned lane 1. I noticed they serve food and beer and drinks though my brother and I tried none of it. Might be awesome. IDK. The staff is friendly and helpful which is good. The lane never counted a single frame correctly in 2 games. Never scored higher than a 9 whether you got a strike or spare. If you aren't serious about bowling but want to chuck it for a while this is ur place.
Love this place the building is historic and they've kept a lot of it's originality. The bar tenders are super cool, helpful and make strong drinks. The price for everything is extremely reasonable. Very cool place to go on a date, or with your friend group or even the family. Lanes may screw up from time to time, but let's remember this equipment is original so it's pretty old. They are quick to fix things to ensure you get your money's worth.
It’s so nice to have a place in the neighborhood to bowl, grab a bite, while sipping on a cocktail. The old Lakewood theatre which is now home to Bowlski’s Lakewood still has the charm and many of the original details of the theatre. If you don’t feel like bowling, you can enjoy the restaurant on the first floor. This is a perfect place for the entire family or grownups alone. I look forward to seeing you guys bowling soon! Xoxo Lorenzo
This is a really cool bowling ally with affordable pricing! The only issue we had was it takes a while to reset pins and we were unable to finish out second game because of this. The attendant was not willing to give us extra time even though no one was waiting for a lane and got frustrated when we asked for an extension. All bowling ally's should rent out per game, not per hour, or be willing to extend time until the game is finished.
Took my son on a Friday afternoon to try this place out for the first time. He was super excited, not so much as we got turned away. Turns out they were having a private event, which is fine, have your private parties. But maybe put that on either your website or Facebook account, as I had checked both an hour before going and it said they were open and no mention of any private event. Wasted about 45 minutes of my time
Music is great, drinks are adequate, machines are…. Technically turned on? Our first lane stopped resetting so we were moved to another, where no matter how many pins you hit, it gave you a spare. Except for sometimes it gave you some other random number seemingly based on how much or little the lane liked your vibes. Great for the ego, as I got about seven “spares” in a row. Save your cash, go somewhere else.
6/10 of the lanes were broken and the staff was extremely rude to us. The stage is amazing and the band was incredible but because of the terrible hospitality and maintenance of the facility I have to give this bowling alley a 1/5... the party before us was spilling drinks on our lane and the staff didn’t even bother to clean it up and the lanes weren’t oiled properly so the bowling quality was low.
The steampunk atmosphere was really cool. The smaller bowling alley is really nice since you don't need to walk to far to get drinks or food. Staff was helpful and nice. Only issue was with out lane, when we were there lane 7 had frequent issues. Things happen so I'm only docking one star and will change rating if we don't don't have lane issues next time.
Hands down the worst bowling alley on the planet earth. The machines are completely busted. Not a single accurate frame. Entire place smells like Sulphur. If you care at all, stay the hell away. Wasted half our time on a broken machine only to switch lanes to another just as broken machine. However, if you’re into wasting time and money, 5 stars for sure.
The scoring machines don’t work. The place is filthy. The balls are worn and scarred. There is no wax on the lanes. Food service is poor. We had to send back things twice. As far as the food goes…just don’t. It’s inedible. The staff is indifferent at best. In their defense, it has to be hard to keep up morale at Bowlski’s in Lakewood.
This place has a funky retro vibe that’s great. I took one star for the bar tender being more focused on socializing than their job. I took second star away for the smell. There’s old plumbing issues that cause a strange smell sporadically. If you don’t mind an odd smell or the distracted bar tender, you’ll be happy here.
They aren't customer service oriented. Went to a party that was reserved with snacks. The chef never arrived so we ended up with cold queso and day old pickles. Lanes kept breaking down and they didnt want to make it right because we apparently showed up and bowled what little we did. Very disappointing experience
5 throws in the first lane in the left stops racking the pins and i haves to be moved to the lane over. Then the bowling balls stop dispensing into the rack. When did the pins did reset you had to wait almost a full minute for them to rerack. Low quality place. Can’t even casually enjoy yourself here. 0 Stars.
Bowling is good. The setup is unique and multi story. The speak easy at the top is interesting but a little small. The drinks from the speakeasy are overpriced, $12 for an old fashioned, an impressive $16 for a Manhattan. You can get those cheaper in Manhattan. Still a good place though, just stay downstairs.
Was calling for information did not look on website because some of the information do not be accurate. When I call the gentleman was so rude did not want to share information ask him how much it is to bowl for a child he said a child price $12 is it the same for all ages if you have a child how rude
This is a great family place good bowling, good games to play for children and adults. Great food servers and bartenders are excellent people they are here for your needs and they’re right there to help you. The service is fantastic. I recommend this for any family or kids great place to go.
Our experience was comically bad. The scoring machine malfunctioned, the food is magnificently awful, the drinks (sodas and lemonade) were watered down. The young man handling customer relations never removed his earbuds. Stay away unless you are entertained by a terrible business model.
Great idea in a great location, but missing the mark. Lanes are not oiled, shoes are torn up, sewage backs up (my wife had to go next door to use the bathroom because the woman’s toilets didn’t flush), and the bowling pins never reset correctly. Could be great with a solid renovation.
This location area was amazing and very attracting to the eye. It’s when you walk into the bowling area was when a very old, stinky , restroom smell just smacked you in the face. The biking lanes need to be remodeled and maybe better upgraded bowling lanes. The staff were friendly.
such a welcoming environment staff is always great & they serve pizza now which wasn’t bad at all grew up in old east Dallas & love what they have done with the place things happen don’t let the few bad reviews keep you from coming by and enjoying a good time with the Fam …
Very cute old fashion style bowling place. The staff was very nice and friendly, even gave us a free dessert. If you’re a pro bowler the lanes might be too outdated for you and the lanes seem to not be oiled but if you’re looking for a fun date or hang out this place is perfect.
the lanes didn't work. the first lane balls were stuck. the second we moved to the pins werent placed right. the third lane had pin issues... pins were stuck and werent placing the correct pin amounts on during the placement. what a waste of $35. three lanes and nothing worked.
Cool little spot and fun bowling! Good vibes and also thought it was neat that they had the pin setter open so you could see it. Don’t expect these lanes to be good though, they definitely don’t oil them if you are a serious bowler. Otherwise good for just a fun hangout.
Lots of fun, inexpensive and you can walk around and take photos of the Time Capsule this place is. Right under/ Next to the Balcony club. My friends and I came for my 29th birthday and it was a good choice. The pizza was nice for munchies. I will be back very soon. (:
I love this place but oh my gosh the last 2 times I’ve been there it has smelled like the inside of a toilet….so bad that the last time I went I had to walk out…please fix this so I can come back because I love bowlskis…this place is awesome but unbearable the smell
This is a really cool little bowling alley / venue concept. There is a stage above the bowling pins so you can watch a band play while you bowl. The bartenders are really nice and the pizza is pretty good. All-in-all its not a bad way to spend an evening.
BEST BOWLING PLACE IN DALLAS. Everything is great here from the staff, drinks, and vibe. Great for date night and/or family night! You won’t regret coming here! Soon they’ll be adding a pizza menu so practically all in one! Everything is ogre over here ;)
Wow! This place is the best vintage bowling alley in Dallas. Super cool Art Deco design and classic bowling lanes. Great staff and the manager Jack is very help and quite the friendly character. I would highly recommend this extremely fun bowling alley.
I have to say I have been here before and it was much better. We didn't order food even though we were hungry because the waitress warned us the menu was limited. The bartender poured a horrible drink. It tasted like diet orange soda in my cocktail.
Cool looking place to hang in a historic movie theater! You don't need to bowl -- you can hang at the bar for drinks and walk around. If you're a fan of old-school architecture in Dallas, I urge you to check out this place and make it a
We had a great time last night at Bowlski's! Ivan and Myranda(with a y) made very tasty drinks, and Jack's customer service is exemplary. I will definitely be back soon. Clean bathrooms, good prices, and oh yeah the bowling was awesome!
Bowling is a lot of fun. Especially when your all good or all bad (like my friends and I are). The environment at Bowlski's is relaxing and the food and alcohol are decently priced. This is a 1 x a month place for me. Glad I found it
Absolutely incredible venue! The owners Jenny and Craig are extremely friendly and welcoming! The restoration of this great historic building is creative, original, and one of a kind! I absolutely love this new venue!
For those from Austin, they serve double Dave's pizza, which brings back good memories. The bowling lane didn't count the pins correctly which added a fun element to the game. A cool place and the staff were friendly.
My husband and I have been coming here for our date nights for years. The food is excellent, the staff is top tier and it’s overall a super chill little place. Ten out of ten highly recommend checking it out!
Had our office holiday party here. It was a good time. At first the lanes were down, but the staff got them up and working promptly. The food is some if the better food I have had from a bowling alley.
This bowling alley is the BEST alley I’ve ever been to! The owner and his son Tyler were amazing and very inviting! I can’t wait to come back with family and friends as the vibe was amazing as well!
It was a great experience, we were greeted and treated so kind and the food was delicious the drinks were awsome. We had a great time and we will be going back often. We went in Sunday night.
Bowlski’s is one of my favorite places to grab drinks in Dallas! It’s got a great ambiance and is an awesome place to bowl. Arcade games and bowling alley is obviously a huge plus!
This place is laughable at best. Racist staff that cant make decent drinks or food and none of the lanes actually work. I recommend Bowlounge or USA Bowl. Dont waste your time.
Fun!!! The pizza was great and it was fun playing in an old style bowling alley with modern scoring. This Historic site in lakewood is a must see for anyone. Great for parties.
My wife and I really enjoyed this place. We got there right after they opened, so we were able to take our time and enjoy some bowling and all the cool environment.
Terrific place to bowl. Pizza was delicious. Somewhat tight - limited space, but cozy & friendly. The historic theater setting makes it very interesting.
Very fun night here! The vintage bowl lanes have their quirks, but Cristie was on it! Lane quirks are worth it for the fun experience and vintage vibes.
Had a nice time here, although service was pretty slow. I'm assuming it was because it was a Friday afternoon? Anyway, would definitely return.
Great bowling alley in a fun and hip part of town. It’s packed so if your going to come call ahead and make sure they have lanes open!
Great Vibes and not packed even when busy. Bowling is going to take a LONG time, especially on Weekends. Longer than they even quote.
Great atmosphere and awesome pizza. Ivan( the bartender) was super helpful and attentive. Definitely a great place to visit
Great experience! We had a blast and can’t wait to go again. Myranda was awesome and helped us all night. She’s the best!!!
Staff was very friendly. Several issues with the equipment, but staff responded quickly. Food was great. Good ambiance.
Was a great time bowling! Myranda was a great bartender! Will definitely be coming back for some bowling and drinks!
Took our grandson and had a blast. Older lanes but we knew this coming in. Will try pizza next time. Will be back.
Bowlski’s offers casual bowling, good food, and (occasionally) live music. It makes for a great and unique time!
Excellent place to have fun! I love the ambiance and the great welcoming atmosphere the owners have created.
DO NOT COME HERE IF BLACK!!!! They have racist caricature and are extremely rude towards black customers.
Cool hangout spot in Dallas. Good vibes and friendly management. Would highly recommend checking it out!
Amazing local bowling alley in a historic theater! Local beer, retro vibes. Good prices and lots of fun
1st time my husband grand daughter loved it!! Pizza was yummy & husband ate all the wings.
They were races soon as I walked in they turned me around I was just tryna go bowling.
SMALL BUT INITIMATE PLACE to have fun Time with family or co-workers.
I wish this place all of the future success. Such a cool concept.
Fun atmosphere, good staff, good pizza. Clean environment
Super fun place. The people working there are awesome.
Loved the atmosphere, decent pricing, friendly staff
Had a blast, special thanks to the bartender.
