First of all I want to say that library is today has change from when I was growing up as a child. A library was a quiet place for you can come study relax and just do work in an in almost meditate. Today I came to the library with my grandson who asked to play on the computer and in the children's area the kids were over there cussing I mean like sailors and like adults being disrespectful as a mother and a grandmother I'm sitting there and you still cussing. I went to inform the staff hey y'all go over there and ask them the quit cussing and carrying on you know my grandson he's 5 he's sitting over there on the computer and I don't want him being around all that foolishness. First lady told me where that's what goes on every day. I didn't ask you about what goes on everyday I ask you can you go over there and stop that why my grandson is sitting over they in the children area. The young lady to respond and say why don't you tell the police the police stand right there and he look like really ! I mean what is he doing here is it for decorations I mean the whole entire library is loud from then you got the kids on the adult side cussing and loud too I mean I don't know what's going on with these libraries today. I do understand that kids don't have anywhere to go because thanks to my city they took away all the things that kids can do so the library is the best place where they can come and not get themselves in any trouble but however they can conduct their selves as being a adult not acceptable. We need to get some regulations on how these children under 13 is coming into this Library they need to be with an adult or they need to be supervised at all the time because I don't know when the next time I'm going to come back to this library and really enjoy myself like I did as a child something has got to be done with these kids coming in here with no respect and is loud and everything I'm just really upset so I am doing this on a text to speech so it may be all over the place but I'm just letting you know that's how your library is all over the place I'm very dissatisfied thank you signed a angry parent and grandparent.
I can't say enough good things about the Jacksonville Public Library including this smaller branch, the Bradham and Brooks on Edgewood Ave. West. It's clear that this library offers the full suite of services from new releases to computer services, tax preparation, magazines and even more. I've been to other Libraries, particularly in southern Georgia and they simply do not offer the services and the book depth that are available in Jacksonville. . This branch which seems to be relatively newly remodeled is on a single floor and has an airport or bus station terminal feel to it. Perhaps it's the high ceilings. Parking is average, traffic is very heavy on Edgewood Avenue and their single lot on the east end of the building is both small, angled which with cars coming and going can be a navigational challenge.⛵ I'm giving this review four stars because of two names: Olga L. Bradham and Etta L. Brooks. There can be no doubt that these two individuals made a contribution to this library and worthy of it being named. But as a patron I don't get a sense of who they are? There are a number of things that could have been done too. Actually, the best commeration I've seen is inside Walmart Distribution Centers with well designed murals depicting Helen Walton and her genuine efforts to promote literacy and learning.
Went here for the first time today. A woman charged me two dollars for a guess pass on the computer instead of making me a card. It was my first card and I was trying to explain to her I had all of the papers i needed for it but she didnt listen. When I talked to another employee she made a library card .Then I spoke to another different employee, explained what happened with the first employee and apologized and redirected me to a manager who then gave me printing credit. Thank you for correcting the first employee issue and listening. Also this is a very clean and friendly place to go. Good atmosphere
Got trapped in the elevator with my 9 mth old baby on 1/7/19. Pressed the alarm button many many times no one heard us. I was banging on the elevator walls. It is very important that elevator inspections are done to avoid events such as this one thank God we are ok. Also, a ramp that supports wheel chair bound people and people who have to push strollers is necessary. I highly recommend this be put into effect immediately. I don't know if I will be coming back here.
The cleaning lady does a wonderful job making sure the library is clean. But its a different story after she leaves. The main staff is wonderful but the managers are horrible. They lack customer service skills & act like they can't open something for you or help you find certain things. Love this library for the community but the library as a whole can be a lot better.
Really nice and quiet location. Especially great when looking for African-American literature and books I definitely wish they were more financial literacy titles available. Thankfully you can request books and have them transferred. I saw lots of great resources & events for the community. I’ll be visiting more often. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
The library was very clean and quiet. The staff was very sweet and helpful. Just don’t go if you’re not looking for an African-American back. There’s not very much variety. I realize it’s in a predominantly black neighborhood but you should still cater to the public and not just your local neighborhood.
Staff is "Very User Friendly and Helpful". Facilities (especially female restroom) are "Clean", and not smelly. Adequate toilet tissue in female restroom. Noise level is low compared to several other Branches ( children are not RUNNING WILD!!!!(as if on a playground).
Customer service is strong. I received my library card quickly and scheduled conference room time even quicker. They also can make copies for a small fee. Computers were easily accessible .
Ms. Gloria really helped me out by showing me how to scan documents to my email and issued me a new library card just in case I have to come back for something else.
Very quiet. She let us use the study room without a library card. Im very thankful. Kids loved the books and bathroom was very clean. Staff super kind.
Giving my great grand daughter the experience of the library. She is loving it!
