This coffee shop has become one of my favorites in Houston! Visited multiple times on different days and times. They are one of the few places that stays open till 12 AM, but only on Fridays and Saturdays. Whether it's the afternoon or evening, I've found this place at least 80%-95% full. Customer service is very good. They are always friendly and easy to talk to. When your order is ready, they will shout your name. They have different seating arrangements throughout. Seating at the bar, tables for 4, tables for 6, tables for 2, and individual seats. A good amount of power outlets throughout. They also have seating outside as well. The wifi speed is pretty good. You can listen to Spotify and browse the Internet without interruption for hours. Their wifi password does change. Not sure how often. FOOD AND DRINK: Breakfast taco: 3/5 Turkey avocado club: 5/5 (my favorite!!) Banh mi: 4/5 Coffee latte: 4/5 Frappe w/ toffee nut & caramel: 4/5 Americano: 0/5 Rice bowl: 3/5 Pumpkin spice latte: 3/5 They always have free iced water in front. Overall it's a good place to study/work or meet up with people.

I've been coming here for a few months now to work/study. It's definitely a go-to spot for me since they close at 10pm. The space has natural light and a lot of plants for sale from local businesses. There are small and large tables to work at as well as a few couches to lounge in. There are also plenty of outlets to charge your devices, except in their study nooks. The staff is friendly and the coffee is consistent (I usually order a flat white or nitro cold brew). My favorite drink right now is their London Fog. For eats, the patty melt or breakfast tacos are yum. The downside of this place is the poor reliability of their WiFi - if it's pretty crowded, the internet is very slow. I've had to use my hotspot half of the time I'm here. The music is blasted all hours of the day, not just at night - even with noise-cancelling headphones, you can feel the bass and hear the yelling of baristas when orders are ready. If you get distracted easily, this may not be the place for you. Overall, I like this space a lot. Hopefully Brass Tacks can upgrade their internet service to accommodate the high volume of people working here.

Incredible snacks and drinks. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff. But it was so insanely crowded that I couldn't enjoy the really lovely vibe of the place itself. Every single seat was filled except at the bar (in the middle of a Thursday). I think it has to do with the proximity to U of H and finals coming up but it was the only aspect of my experience that I really didn't like. Completely not the fault of the business but it is a big deterrent for me as far as returning. That and the fact that the parking is pretty limited as it is but with it being so crowded, I had to park a few blocks away along and apartment complex and walk to the cafe. If I could predict when it would be less busy I'd go only then and I'd change my rating to a 5. I'll definitely give it another try next time I'm in that area and if my experience with the crowdedness improves and it turns out I just picked a randomly awful moment then I'll definitely change my review.

I had to park a few blocks away because of how insanely crowded it was but I only went the one time so hopefully it's not typically so packed. You might want to plan accordingly just in case.

I’ve been coming here for a couple years :) 3.5/5 if I could. Environment and vibes - 5/5. Functionality - 2/5. 1/5- They used to have a tent outside for covered seating but got rid of it sometime last year. They need a new tent bc the sun is intense (even the past couple days when it’s been cooler outside)! 0/5- The Wi-Fi doesn’t work outside, it never has. I always have to use my hotspot. Honestly a lot of times if I sit inside I still have to use my hotspot because when it’s really busy (it gets busy here often) then the wifi is overused and veryyyy slow. They need to get stronger Wi-Fi that will work even when lots of people are using it, and also they need boosts/extenders so that it works outside as well. There are plenty of outlets inside. Outside, they used to have one long cable that one person could connect to their laptop at a time to charge but haven’t seen that for a while. 5/5-Employees are always kind and helpful. 3/5- Sometimes the music is wayyyyy too loud, even the speakers outside. I understand that it’s a bar too, but I believe the majority of people come here to work and study. Butterfly lemonade- 5/5 CB Latte - 4/5 Spring rolls w shrimp - 5/5 Rice bowl - 3.5/5 (I ordered with extra protein bc it’s not enough. And they don’t substitute inflammatory seed oils for healthy fats)

The vibes. Oh the wonderful vibes ☕️ Brass Tacks is the best study/work spot I’ve found in Houston. Located just a few blocks from downtown, this spot is very accessible thanks to its spacious property in the EaDo district. It was highly recommended by my favorite workout instructor -- who is much cooler than me — so I was nervous I wouldn’t fee hipster enough to feel comfortable here. However, the baristas were highly friendly and welcome. ☕️ I sampled the food by order two breakfast tacos. They were much smaller than expected but still a good deal at 3 bucks a pop. I would have tried a sandwich but none of them were on sourdough. I’ll have to ask next time if they can’t make the dough sour The inside area was crowded giving the place a good working energy, yet there were still several open tables available in the early afternoon. And of course everyone wants to know about parking — the icing on the cake was that parking spots were plentiful. I never expected to find such an all-around perfect coffee shop. Brass Tacks is it! I really gotta explore EaDo more. Who knows what else I’m missing out on! ‍

We went in at around 7 in the evening on a Friday. It wasn't very crowded, but it's a huge establishment so even if it was crowded, it wouldn't feel congested. The great reviews reflect it's ability to serve as a pleasant hangout spot. We didn't try the coffee unfortunately, but it seems to be good. We ordered the Texas Keeper no. 1 cider but we were sorely disappointed with it. It takes more like white wine/champagne instead of cider. We also ordered their Butterfly lemonade which was not bad. They offer food options too, we ordered their house made fries which were quite good. They were fresh, crunchy and came with a delicious garlic sauce. When we asked for more of the garlic sauce, they provided it at no extra charge, (although they informed us that it is chargeable as it is made in house). The staff is polite. The ambience is the winner here. They've created an open space with several indoor plants and wooden elements. It's a great co-working place where they have several small nooks you can sit in. They also have seating available outdoors. It's perfect for people looking for a chill place to work from/hang out at.

remember coming here about an year ago and had a disappointing visit. it was loud, people were drinking shots in the afternoon on a wednesday, and it just way too crowded for my liking. at that time, I got london fog tea and fries which was delicious. this time around, I got toasted pb & j with bananas, and iced caramel latte with soy milk. the food was yummy, and i still like how they have a lot of food and coffee choices to choose from. reasonable prices. friendly and cheerful staffs. the iced caramel latte was a bit bitter but it was actually not too bad when i sipped and gulped without breathing. parking can be a bit challenging since this spot is so popular, despite them having a spacious parking lot and street parking. and this time, thankfully i was able to get a spot to sit down and get my work done. their wifi is pretty solid. the background music is loud but with your AirPods in, it’s bearable. but I think they could lower it a bit, considering most people here are trying to get their work done. Overall i like the location and would come back here again.

This place is huge, plenty of room to work/study, a great place full of young people, great food and drink selection as well. The only problem was how loud the music was. I asked to turn the music a bit, first the server told me she could not do anything about it and that I would have to talk to the owner, I said fine, I can talk to the owner, then another young girl came to talk to me, and she said she would turn the music down, if she did, it was not noticeable. I understand some people like to listen to music while studying, and I enjoy it myself as well, but this place sounds like a party. Seriously, it will not hurt to turn the music a tiny bit to accommodate more people, my friends were also complaining, you can't talk or hear each other. I tried to fight how loud the music was by playing some study music on my headphones/ phone, but it just became a bunch of noise hurting my hearing capabilities, I eventually left, because I didn't feel welcome, heard or respected.

I love coming here. It’s perfect for all day studying, a quick coffee pick up, a coffee/lunch date or cocktails/a drink. There are numerous options for food and drink. The seating is an eclectic. The space is large. The crowd is diverse. Most importantly the food and drinks are tasty and come with good service. I’ve sat both inside and outside and both are easy to get your order from. The place is also always clean which is essential. The issue I see is they don’t have enough parking for the demand. Many have to park on the side streets within a few blocks. It’s also always packed which is great for business but not for finding a seat. It’s always worked out for me, but looking can be stressful especially if you come in a group of 3 or more and if you need outlets. I will keep coming back though time after time because it meets my need. I love this place. so happy I found it.

My first impression was parking was easy. Walking in was spacious and the design is so unique. If you want alone or intimate time with someone special, definitely sections for that. So cute, with a different decor. You have high top tables, bar section, outside seating and upstairs for study time as well. Seems to have it all for your mood. The music was a cafe but upbeat feel. So, the staff... very welcoming and I was unsure what to order. I told the owner pick for me. It was the right choice. TRY THE CUBAN SANDWICH, you can’t go wrong! Also, I had the dirty chai that was a perfect blend with not too much caffeine. My preference. Very helpful and made sure I was satisfied. My friend/niece had the cold brew and Turkey and Avocado sandwich that they didn’t share with me. It was gone in no time. We all agreed to go back to try out as much as possible. I have and will continue sharing this place with family and friends! Thank you for this nice and pleasurable experience Brass Tacks!

  • Denitra Crowder

I enjoy this place a lot. It is very spacious and has plenty of seating options. You can park in the lot in either side or along the street. The atmosphere is nice and the foliage adds a nice touch. As a vegan they do have some options as far as food goes and the coffee can always be modified. For someone in school this is a place you can study comfortably and have outlets to charge you devices. The only negative I will give is the music, sometimes it is wayyyyy to loud and the bass is too much. Sometimes it feels more like a party than a place to vibe and work. I say this because I wear my beats and still hear and feel the bass. Other than that I would recommend this place.

Good coffee and bites, excellent work environment. When I come to work at a coffee shop, the vibe is important, and Brass Tacks has an energetic buzz that is perfect for productivity. They also provide multiple set-ups to fit varying focus needs. If you need to feel grounded as you work, they have a space for you to sit on the ground, complete with electrical outlets. Need space to limit distractions? They’ve got study cubbies. Group project? They’ve got large tables. They’ve also filled the place with plants, and every plant in the place is for sale. You can take home a green friend, if you’d like; or you can simply enjoy the lush vibrancy of the green as you work. Fair warning: this place is always packed, so come prepared to jump at the first seat you see. Or come early.

I love this place. It does get CRAZY busy, tho! There is a lot of seating but I have been a few times and have had to wait to find a plug to use my laptop. The food here is amazing and delicious. The party melt is my favorite. The next runner up is my go to potatoe egg and cheese on corn breakfast taco. They serve them all day and they are affordable. It's so nice to have a place close by that has super tasty snacks and coffee that is well made. My only complaints is that most of the time the internet isnt able to stream my online class because I think so many people are there. So Idk if there is anything that can be done for that but i u usually have to leave and go to another place if i am trying to watch the recorded lecture. But again, this place is great and I love it! Also I'm pretty sure it's a female owner business and i support that 100%! Check this place out!

I (currently) live at The Circuit and stumbled upon this place during my daily bike ride to/from the gym (BeFit). This place is a whole vibe. PERFECT for remote workers like myself. They offer coffee, cocktails, beer, and light bites. More than enough to take you through the day. The staff is fantastic, and it's great to see the same faces there all the time. I recommend the Viet latte, cortado, taro root latte, breakfast tacos, Cesar salad with chicken or shrimp, any of their gin drinks and the espressotini.

This is a great place to come to do work and to meet casually with friends. Food and drink is great and there is a variety of options. However the reason for rating atmosphere a 4 ( I almost considered a 3 rating) and not a 5 is that this is not a location you want to come to conduct any formal business meetings, or to take business / work calls or zoom meetings. The music here is too loud to where it is very distracting to hold face to face or virtual meetings. The volume of the music also feels like being in a more bar / club / Abercrombie store atmoshere at 10 am.

Came here last week to get some work done. I originally heard about this place on social media so wanted to come give it a try. Love the ambiance, love the atmosphere. What I did not like is the cubby areas towards the back did not have power outlets to charge your laptops. Plus it was a packed house and most of the seats were taken. The cubby areas are so cozy why would they not make power outlets. Me thinking they’d have plugs I came with a dead laptop. Secondly I drove all the way from Jersey Village to come work and vibe and their WiFi was not working. So I basically made a blank trip. All in all the place hasn’t won me over at all. It in fact stalled my work process and had to leave to find WiFi. Don’t come here if you have important work due. This is the reason for the 2 stars

  • Jasmin Johnson

The atmosphere is top tier. It is an experience like no other. Whether you want to hang out for happy hour, order coffee, tea, food, or study, there's a place for you. This establishment is so evenly thought out and comfortable for the entire community. This is a new favorite for me. I was in Houston for the Thanksgiving holiday and needed to get some work done. This venue was perfect. The food was great, and the layout is well thought out and aesthetically pleasing, which made it easy to get my work done. The music was appropriate, and the volume was perfect. The plants were so fresh and authentic. I will visit this cafe in the future.

We had a wonderful experience at Brass Tacks. It was our first time in Houston and our first spot after flying in. We were greeted and taken care of by Georgina. She was so helpful and welcoming. She took time to answer our menu questions and give recommendations. I absolutely adored the dynamic setting. Seeing people socialize, work, spend alone time,… whatever they were doing- they can all do it comfortably in the same location because of the layout and furniture array. Georgina recommended the Falynn In Love drink and I basically started endorsing it at the bar whenever I got the next round because it was that good. I hope I get to go back here again this week before my flight home.

Awesome building with lots of nooks to hang out in. Can be a bit loud at times, but great place to work or study if you find a spot. An added perk is that the food and coffee is also great. We got a flat white and capuchino and both were done perfectly which is not the easiest thing to find across coffee shops. Also tried the breakfast croissant and no complaints. It tasted great and was cooked fresh unlike the pre made microwaved food you sometimes encounter at other places. Look forward to coming back and trying more and more of the menu.

One of my favorite coffee shops to work from in Houston. The drinks are really good and I also enjoy all the plants all over the establishment. It makes it feel very alive in there. This place is great, a little too popular even! The food and drinks are awesome. But the number 1 thing about this place is the vibe. Lots of energy and though it's a large place, it's hard to find a table. They do have lots of seating, bar sets, and patio space, but it's packed during peak times. Their tacos were great and the few drinks I've had had been great also. I enjoy working here when I want to.feel inspired by the buzz and others on their journeys. Last time I saw a group designing a game. I feel like I will see interesting things and encourage you to check it out. Photo of the menu as of 9/23.

I LOVE Brass Tacks. I'm a senior in high school, and it's been my favorite place to come and study since the beginning of quarantine. They have great food- I recommend their all day breakfast tacos- and great coffee. It's a great environment to study in, but the only reason I didn't give it five stars is the music. They play loud, electronic music that's kind of club like. I think most people know Brass Tacks as a study spot, and I feel like the music should cater to that vibe. I would love some lofi or some jazz, just to match the ambiance of the whole building. I could understand turning this music in the evening, but it seems a little much for during the day.

  • Saraiah Gonzalez

Every time I stop by for a bite and some coffee I fall more in love with the place. The service is amazing, the food is always so fresh and tasty. If you're stopping by for a breakfast bite, get the hammich, it's so good! I like taking my pup with me and hanging out in their outdoor sitting area. They have a variety of seating patterns, like if you're going by yourself or one other person they have seats for that, or if you're going with a group of friends they have larger tables. I really keep coming back because of the coffee but also because the staff is always so nice and helpful!

I absolutely adore this place. The atmosphere just makes you happy...might it be all the plants!? Haha. So many places to sit at! 4 seater table, 2 seater table, couches, high tables, cubicle sitting for 2, outdoor patio, and bar sitting from the upper level. Taro iced latte was delicious. Only thing with iced is that you drink it up fast just like a margarita over ice. London fog tea hits the spot! Especially if you are looking for something warm but with little to no caffiene. Breakfast taco delicious. I ordered the bacon egg and cheese. Can't forget all the plants through out the place can be purchased.

Imagine this - you show up to this beautiful cafe, with great background music and a bunch of people studying and reading and enjoying your coffee. You sit down to enjoy this peace… and then a lady in a high pitch voice is screaming out names over and over and over and over - non stop. It’s unbelievably annoying. Completely ruins the atmosphere inside. This problem is so solvable and surely the right solution is NOT somebody screaming out names in the most annoying high pitch voice possible. Edit: yelling names of orders so people can get their food.

Came here for brunch with my sister and then again for a late night bite with a friend, both times on the weekend. Service was pretty quick, despite being a Sunday at 11am. Plenty of seating — and outlets! Plants everywhere. Whether hanging out with folks or studying / reading, the vibe matches. Had breakfast sandwiches, avocado salsa tartine, and cold brew for breakfast; all great. For dinner, had the butterfly lemonade (love the colors) and shrimp tacos (probably would not order again).

Visiting from Dallas & a barista myself. This place is a well balance of everything you’d seek in a coffee shop. Got me wanting a location in Dallas I got their limited seasonal drink, which is the S’mores Latte. On point. Sweetness ✔️ Coffee ✔️ Consistency ✔️ Acidity ✔️ Froth ✔️ ALL BUENO! Bunch of seating areas— outside, inside and upstairs! Oh also, even small pill/hub type areas! A lot of plants which I love and a bar area as well. Perfect place to come in with your gadget and gears.

Good food, great service, it's just a little louder than most coffee shops. I'm not really sure if this place can be considered a coffee shop because it definitely offers a lot more. There's plenty of seating so even if they seem busy, you will find a table. The food was delicious and so was the coffee. Wow! I've lived in this area for about 4 years and whenever I google coffee near me this place has never ever popped up. Today was my lucky day and possibly yours if you're looking for an amazing place to get your morning cup. The entire staff was great and all although I didn't grab a bite the food looked like it would be amazing. The ambiance is hands down the best in Downtown Houston. This is a must try. Everything I got was delicious. Tacos have an authentic taste. Coffe was delicious and the whole vibe of the place is nice. Not much seating available when I went so I was bummed about that but not a big deal. Sat at the bar. Everyone was super friendly. Restrooms were clean. Parking was also a bit limited . I definitely recommend the breakfast tacos. They were I'm in my opinion the best I've ever had. The oat Danish was good as well. Will definitely come back . Outdoor seating also available

Such a cute place to come eat breakfast/brunch, study, work, etc. This place is in a very unique historical building that has been renovated and has various sitting nooks and areas, it’s so cozy and big! Plenty of seating (outdoor seating too). Great food and drink options. I ordered a hazelnut latte that was delicious with the breakfast on a pan, came out quickly and was all super fresh! The best part…there is parking available not just one but two lots. It’s so rare to get parking with a business in EADO.

Great atmosphere for hanging out with plenty of seating. They have extensive food and drink options as well. It is a popular spot, so indoor seating might be hard to find. Lots of people bring their laptops and have whole setups for long periods of time. The fries were well seasoned, and the matcha was rich. But it was pretty grainy.

Brass Tacks has a bit of everything. Great place to work or study. The food is delicious. The plants around the place are gorgeous and healthy (as well as for sale if you like them). Lots of menu options. Bathrooms are clean. And the employees are extremely sweet. I’ve been here at least 20 times over the last year. I definitely recommend their gyros and lattes. The nitro cold brew is pretty good too!

Huge menu but vegan picks are surprisingly limited for a spot like this, no real meals. Love chilling here with an espresso, but for actual food (hint: $$), Tout Suite nearby has so many more options. 5* for the atmosphere alone, sprawling bi-level space full of plants and people, super friendly staff. Car parking is generally easy outside of Dynamo games and big Astros games, there is a huge lot and free street parking everywhere.

Brass Tacks is a must visit place in Houston! The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. We were able to enjoy some great espresso, chai lattes, and breakfast tacos. The environment is welcoming and inviting. Many can work on their laptops or conduct very relaxed meetings. Parking is a breeze with on street, and parking lot spaces available. Do yourself a favor, visit this place soon! You will not be disappointed.

A nice place to study/do your own thing. Very busy so it may be hard to find parking (lots of street parking though) and seating inside. I got a plain latte and it was good but not outstanding (isn't too acidic and is fragrant). Great atmosphere though, recommend checking it out if you're willing to fight for a seat! Haven't tried the food but it looks good.

Coffee on point. Ordered the Cortado. Perfectly strong but flavorful. The patty melt and fries .....yum. Freshly made, juicy and the sauces for the the fries were amazing. Garlic Aoli the best one. My kiddos ordered their lattes and enjoyed them. The only thing thar was meh was the crepe. Overall the place had such a comfortable vibe. Can definitely hang out here for hours without realizing it. Highly recommend

Excellent place to socialize or study. They have nice little nooks for individuals and large tables for groups! Very inviting interior with a lot of fun seating options. Coffee itself is decent enough. I certainly think there are better places, but it is still very good. Food seems delicious, although we did not order any ourselves. Overall, very worth checking out! Love coming here to study or hang out!

Very unorganized. If you walk in here for the first time you will be confused. We didn’t know if we needed to sit first or order first. So after we figured ordering first they rush you to order on the spot when they gave you the menu 5 seconds ago. The food came way before the drinks. The food was ok but not worth the bad experience. If you like places that spend more effort on looking trendy than service this is your place.

The coffee and food at this coffee shop were excellent, but unfortunately, the noise level was quite high (music). It was so loud that I had to step outside for my meetings, which was quite disappointing. If I were just coming to socialize with friends, I would rate it a 4, but for a productive work and meeting environment, I would give it a 3.

We went in on a weekday for lunch and the place was busy, but not too full. The vibe is super neat. It’s got little alcoves and tables inside and outside to eat at. There’s also plants and lots of sunlight. The staff was all really friendly and helpful in assisting me in picking out what I wanted to eat The patty melt was amazing! It wasn’t too greasy and the fries that came with it were perfectly cooked. I can’t wait to go back and try out some of their other menu items.

  • Rose Reindel

Excellent bathrooms. Very clean. Extra toilet paper. Plants in the corner of the stalls is a very nice touch. Nice ambience. White tile on the walls is very nice looking. The stalls are fully enclosed, which is nice, but it's hard to find the lock, which is not. Someone was in the stall next to me and I hardly heard them or knew they were there. Paper towels were above average quality. 4.5/5 quality bathroom.

Love this place but this music is often ridiculously loud. Depending on who’s working, they will turn it down. Other times they act as if the volume can’t be adjusted. It’s pretty frustrating for people who come here to work and not socialize. The music can literally be heard through the music on my headphones and is way too loud if you’re on a zoom call.

I was so disappointed with this coffee shop. It is so busy, you wouldn’t dare leave your seat to order a second drink or you wouldn’t have any place to come back too. The music is so loud, it is impossible to study. The iced coffees are warm, the hot coffees are room temp, and the food was inedible. The outdoor patio is old picnic tables on broken pavement and the indoor seating is dirty with the ambiance of dumpster diving.

  • Mirka Mendez

Love this coffee shop in EaDo. Great place to go read or study. Modern decorations and lots of plants. They got teas, lemonades and a variety of sandwiches and light food. Indoor seating and outdoor picnic tables. Parking is available but it might be full, there's street parking all around.

Great spot to get stuff done, or to study! It gets very packed very easily—but when you are able to find a spot it is worth it. The best kept secret in HTX! We stopped by for a place to have coffee(they have their own in house coffee), and discovered so much more. A great place for meeting friends, getting work done, they even have rooms for large gathering/ work or project meetings. Their staff is welcoming and friendly. Service- 10/10 Food- 10/10 Experience- 10/10 We will definitely be back!

Love the atmosphere here. The staff makes you feel so welcomed & greet you with energy and a smile! They have great coffee options, food , light bites, and even alcoholic cocktails ! Great place to sit and get some work done if you don’t mind a little music in the background. This is my second visit and I’ll definitely be back! I wish they were open late!

There is a huge variety of seating options with plenty of outlets and outdoor seating. There’s no other place like it. Love it! The only trouble is it’s so cool, it packs out and is hard to find a seat. Something always pops up though!
