OUR AMAZING TRIP TO ARGENTINA AND CHILE My wife and I recently returned from 3+ weeks in Chile and Argentina. We started in the Atacama Desert area of Northern Chile, (staying at Tierra Atacama), then on to Torres del Paine (staying at Tierra Patagonia), then to Estancia Christina, then to El Calafate (staying at Eolo), then to El Chalten, Mendoza (staying at Cavas Wine Lodge), and Buenos Aires. Our primary objective was to experience the rugged beauty and hiking throughout Patagonia, while enjoying a true first-class travel experience. WE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE THRILLED WITH THE TRIP. IT WAS PERFECT IN ALL RESPECTS. Alejandro and his team at Breaking Trails delivered the most amazing experience imaginable. If you are thinking of traveling in Patagonia, you MUST stay at Tierra Atacama and Tierra Patagonia. Five-star service, food, rooms, guide services and more. We hiked over 100 miles in the 12 days of hiking and enjoyed gourmet meals and exquisite rooms/service. Not only did Breaking Trails do a superior job planning our trip, they followed up with us every day or two to ensure we were thrilled with our trip. Every transfer went off without a hitch. Alejandro and his team are totally committed to delivering an incredible experience. I give them the highest recommendation. You will NOT be disappointed! The list of incredible experiences is too long to list, but I will give you a few examples: 1) Hiking Torres del Paine - This iconic hike is part of the famous three- hike "W" setoff hikes. They are very challenging, but well worth the effort and thrilling to complete. 2) Hiking on Perito Moreno Glacier - having never worn crampons before, this was a unique and awe inspiring experience. 3) Wine tasting/exploring in Mendoza - We stayed at the Caves Wine Lodge in the heart of the wine region. It is beyond belief in quality, beauty and service. With only 17 private "lodges", make your reservations early. Breaking Trails arranged for us to visit 3 totally different wineries, each with a different philosophy and approach to wine making. I have taken these type tours in California, but these were more informative than what I have experienced before. At "Finca La Anita", Alejandro arranged for us to have a private outdoor meal involving 3 separate grills, 5 courses, each matched with a special wine. It was an incredible highlight. Check out the pictures we are sending to better see our experience. We spent 4 nights at Tierra Patagonia. I would absolutely add 1 or 2 more nights. There are just so many amazing hikes to take.

Alejandro was great to work with. He listened to what we wanted and gave us choices that appropriately matched what we were looking for. He was very honest and upfront with us about things that we discussed, gave options and opinions but never tried to back us into anything. He responded timely to all of our emails, answered all questions and called to talk in person when necessary. He stayed in touch with us throughout our travels to make sure that things were going smoothly and facilitated a few extra reservations for us once we had arrived. He also called us immediately when he learned that we had to cancel a day trip d/t a passenger not feeling well to make sure that we didn't need assistance both by phone and email. We had a great overall trip. We got to see a lot and learned a lot. The service providers that Alejandro partnered with to provide the on the ground tours etc were all very good. They communicated very well with us, were flexible when needed and were always on time. We would defiantly use Alejandro if we return to South America again.

It's difficult to find words that adequately describe our remarkable trip to Patagonia Chile. In our first stop at Torres del Paine, we stayed at Tierra Patagonia which offered remarkable vistas of the spectacular peaks, careful planning of our daily hiking and kayaking adventures, and dining and culinary excellence. Our second stop at the Explora Lodge in the Chacabuca Valley was equally spectacular. The panoramic views and sights here included layers of mountain ranges that extended to distant ice fields, fields of wildflowers, turquoise blue glacial lakes, and up close wildlife sightings with daily views of guanaco families. The food, all locally sourced, was often prepared on a wood burning stove, and everything from breads to ice cream was made on site. None of this could have happened without the meticulous planning of Alejandro at Breaking Trails. From the time we arrived at the Santiago airport and were greeted by our driver to the time we were picked up for our flight home, there were no gaps of service or attention to detail.

My wife and I had the absolutely best experience working with Alejandro and Breaking Trails. Alejandro zeroed in on the type of experiences we wanted and gave spot on, personalized recommendations for every step of our trip. The hotels, restaurants, wine tastings, and guided trips he arranged were all top shelf quality. On top of that, Alejandro clearly had his finger on the pulse of our trip in Argentina, checked in with us regularly, and responded promptly and professionally to every request that came up. An example of his personal attention and kindness - when he heard I wasn't feeling well the day before we returned to Buenos Aires, he offered to have our driver pick up medication (or anything else needed) to make the trip more comfortable. Above and beyond the call of duty!!!

We can't say enough about our amazing two weeks in Chile! From exploring Santiago to hiking through Torres del Paine, Alejandro planned the perfect trip. He chose the best hotels, guides, drivers which made our two week adventure completely seemless. Alejandro was completely accessible throughout the planning stages and also throughout our trip. It's not often that you return from a vacation and say that you wouldn't change a thing and wonder how your next trip can top this one. My husband and I recommend using Breaking Trails 100 percent and hopefully will use Alejandro's services in future travels.

What an amazing trip Alejandro put together for us. Every aspect of the BA, Mendoza, and Patagonia trip was flawless and all the guides were very knowledgeable. He was even able to get us tickets to the Boca Junior game which was probably the cultural highlight of the trip. We made some last minute changes to the agenda and Alejandro was able to accommodate all our requests. Dinner reservations, tastings at hard to get into wineries, and front row seats at a Tango club were just part of what he put together. Thanks Alejandro for provide us some great memories.
