When work takes you away from home, occasionally you find a 'home away from home' to stay at - Brentwood was like that for me. History: you will find this 107-year-old accommodation nestled in the hills about 5-7 minutes from Healesville. Christine and Mark became the owners fifteen years ago and started their massive overhaul of the property with the gardens, which took nine months, followed by the downstairs rooms and, lastly, upstairs. They added warmth and character to what used to be plain bunk bed hospital-like rooms. The apartment decorations and ornaments clearly have been influenced by their travels. They have three dogs, two cats, two donkeys, plus chickens and roosters in the back paddock. Add sounds of the local wildlife and smells from the surrounding habitats, and you have the perfect venue for a relaxing stay [romantic too]. This property offers access to the Bicentennial Walking Trail and is the only place that does this [no need to worry about your transportation then!]. **Importantly, booking through them gives you special extras, not included in other booking sites. I found that out the hard way. No need for alarm clocks - the braying of the donkeys is a novel way to be woken up. The gardens are multi-tiered, with a fish pond complete with lilypads and frogs you can hear at night, rolling hills, a tree-lined driveway and a BBQ section. There are plenty of places to sit, including out front of each apartment, which is the perfect way to start the day or have a late afternoon coffee or wine. Be sure to wander around and keep an eye out for the red mushrooms [like in the fairytales] and watch out for the little nuggets left by the animals in the grass. The back of the property is off-limits, as that is where the owners live. My ground floor apartment - No.3. After parking under the carport [very safe], which is worth admiring, walk up the stairs to the main house, and ring the bell. There are COVID safe signs, QR codes to scan and sanitisers everywhere to keep you as COVID safe as can be. You will be greeted by Chris and Mark, who are the most genuine and caring hosts. They will escort you to your room, explain how everything works, offer a breakfast basket [that Chris prepares] for $17 [unless you book with them, then it is included] and give you a wifi password [though to be perfectly honest, connectivity in the hills is hit and miss (no fault of theirs) - but it is nice to switch off sometimes!] Weather can be temperamental so be prepared for everything, after all, you are in Victoria. The nights can be brisk in the cooler months, the mornings crisp and the days warm - perfect. I particularly like going to this area in Autumn as the changing colours of the trees is spectacular. The bed was huge and warm, with plenty of pillows and layers. There is a TV, though I didn't use it and an appreciated air conditioner. The bathroom is cosy, and the shower generously sized with a small washbasin and toilet. Organic, locally made soaps and bathroom products is a nice homage to supporting small businesses: plush towels and a lovely spongey bath mat make for a luxurious bathing experience. The kitchenette comes complete with a coffee pod machine [three varieties], milk frother, microwave, oven and fridge. If wanting to cook fish/meat, the BBQ area is used for that. Under the sink are dishwashing utensils, as they prefer you to try and leave the kitchen as you found it. There is a small dining table and chairs, plus a large sofa and coffee table. This space was ample for me and easily could accommodate a couple. The breakfast basket consisted of fresh bread, a waffle, eggs, fruit, butter, spreads, orange juice and milk, plus water—[This varies depending on how many days you stay]. I look forward to returning to Brentwood, as it is a great place to unwind and work on mindfulness and switching devices off!

If you are looking for a perfect getaway for yourself or you and your partner, this little hideout is what you are looking for. A mere 5 minutes drive off Maroondah Hwy, country style townhouse redesigned as comfortable accommodation with great attention for details. A lovely front yard with a rose garden will be the first thing you see in the morning as you sip on a cup of tea under the veranda. While two donkeys graze the grass in the backyard. The room was adequately sized even though we booked in for a budget, immaculate with complete amenities and breakfast included. There were so much food in the breakfast basket that we packed lunch for the day: two serves of granola, two waffles, 4 eggs, a loaf of sourdough bread, a banana, two kiwi fruit, one pear, honey, jams, vegemite, yogurt, orange juice, and milk. Thank you so much Chris and Mark, for making our stay feel so welcomed and such a pleasant one.

We have just retired from our last accommodation business and decided 10 days travel around this region would be perfect. Brentwood Bed & Breakfast did not disappoint us. The greeting from Chris and Mark was friendly and inviting, they live on the property and we’re there if we needed anything. The rooms beautifully decorated, great beds and huge breakfast supplies, very clean and super comfy We stayed in the Meadow View room with a serene outlook across their property, we felt so relaxed If you ever need to get away, this is the most beautiful destination in the Yarra Valley Short drive to the wineries, Main Street great food and shopping Brentwood we will be back

Had our baby moon here and it was a great stay. The host was super friendly and lovely. The surrounds were very well maintained and perfectly picturesque complete with fountain and a small pond. It was perfect for us to take some maternity shoots. The studio apartments came with some generous breakfast items including organic eggs which was perfect. The apartment had everything in it. Small and cosy but we were out all day so we didn't mind. The room was well decorated and elegantly decorated. Very clean. Would stay again.

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend. The owners were lovely and introduced themselves to us when we got there. Everything was pristine and accommodated for, from the breakfast basket to the essentials for the BBQ grill outside. The place looks like a vintage cottage and it was a short drive to Coles and the main strip of cafes etc.

Beautiful and quiet place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. They make you feel as if you are one of their friends who came to visit. The ride to the town is scenic and short, so you can go there for one of the very good restaurants in the area.
