"I have had my mortgage with Bridgewater for 8 years"
Very inflexible on making changes to mortgage agreements such as payment frequency if you are late once by a day. They send a "Mortgage Recovery Officer" after you for payments late by 1 day. Their "Officers" act like a collection agency that buys your old high school cellphone bill from 10 years ago to put a microwave dinner on their TV tray for dinner every night. Their "Officers" will phone your place of work and speak to your coworkers about you. Yes! Over one late payment within one day of being returned! The "Officer" will also raise their voice if they find they are not intimidating you in the slightest. If you ask that your work number be removed from your account and no longer called their "Officer" will refuse and yell at you. If you tell their "Officer" the date they can withdraw the late payment they will openly act like they don't believe you after being a customer in good standing for 5 years. Know your rights as a consumer in Canada and do not let institutions bully you into thinking that you are less of a person who does not deserve even the most basic amounts of respect. There are specific consumer rights in Canada that this company violates and refuses to uphold. Absolutely embarrassing and unacceptable. I have found another financial institution and am in the process of leaving Bridgewater. I'm so lucky I know my rights and that I have other options available to me. I was extremely scared for my assets with this company while doing business with them. YOU are the customer and YOU make these companies a LARGE amount of money so educate yourself on how important you are to them and don't tolerate less than what you are afforded by the LAW.
I find it very reprehensible that Bridgewater Bank is delaying our mortgage renewal notice by 6 to 8 weeks in order to wait for the Bank of Canada to hike up interest rates on September 7th. Prior years they would send out the renewal dated the end of July for a NOVEMBER 1ST renewal. Now we'll be lucky if we get 6 weeks notice in an utterly disgusting display to gouge as much out of us as possible. I called yesterday and they confirmed it will be another few weeks due to "volatile markets" (i.e. as soon as rates are hiked they'll send out the notices). Just utterly vile, even for a company in this business. EDIT: I'll amend this to a 3 for now as the customer service manager was very helpful and helped alleviate a lot of issues.
Worst customer service/experience I’ve ever had. Missed one payment date: was told they were taking double payment plus arrears with no other option otherwise. “Splitting the payments up are definitely not an option based on what happened previously” you must pay X amount on this date and that’s that. Some “Loan Officer” coming after you like were the ones robbing them. Absolutely no interest to work with/help you, the so called manager was supposed to contact me, have yet to hear from them. Currently in process of moving my mortgage to another bank and no matter the cost it’ll be worth every pennie so I don’t have to deal with this bank ever again.
Not good. The poorest of customer service. They don't return calls. You have to "qualify" to change a payment date, otherwise they still take out the money along with a $75 NSF fee. We didn't "qualify" for our first-time-buyers eligibility, because we had a co-signer. Go to a bank that wants your business instead. Other banks have some flexibily and offer solutions, but not Bridgewater. Bridgewater takes advantage and offers penalties for usual requests. Ask to speak to a manager and nobody will call you back. Costed us thousands to get out of.
I have had my mortgage with Bridgewater for 8 years. Due to financing rules changing at CMHC, I was forced to stick with Bridgewater Bank. Since then, I have watched my rates climb while every other bank dropped. My credit rating improves every year yet my rate rises. I haven't received any help, only phone calls to tell me I'm stuck between and a rock and a hard place. Please think twice before making Bridgewater your choice of bank.
Recently, Bridgewater was the lender with the most affordable and only possible solution for my clients. We worked hard as a team for the client for a win! Without Bridgewater as an option, the already in deep water client could have been facing bankruptcy or consumer proposal... Now everyone is sleeping better at night. Huge props to the underwriter for her expertise! I look forward to working with you again.
As a Mortgage Broker partner, I've used BWB since 2015 for many of my deals that come to my desk where other Banks have either scoffed at credit, or simply wasn't able to offer what the client needed based on their often difficult circumstances. I have not had a single complaint from any of my valued clients. BWB is committed to working with their partners, and their valued clients as well.
I just got off the phone with the crooks!!! I will pay my mortgage 2 month early and they are charging me $9500. I don't know how they sleep at night! Shame on them. I will never do business with them ever again and tell as many people as I can not to do business with those CROOKS!!! It is better to rent or rent-to-own while you rebuilt your credit then using those guys.
I've been working with Bridgewater Bank for many years, and have always found them to be knowledgeable, experienced and a pleasure to deal with. In my experience they have excellent financial products and are more flexible, accommodating and responsive to customers than larger financial institutions. I highly recommend contacting them about their products and services.
I've worked with Bridgewater Bank well over 10 years as a vendor. I've found the team easy to work with. They are professional and they deal with details in a timely manner, and are very organized. They appreciate the work being done, and are very personable to talk to when things need to be discussed. It's great to know there is a real person on the other.
The product was unique, the pricing great, the communication clear and concise. Not to mention that the purchase was a rush. I was happy that the underwriter could see the merits of the deal and worked to find a way for us to get it done. It was a great experience and a great product for my client.
Their underwriters for mortgages are VERY inexperienced and unknowledgeable, especially in the self employed area of income and paperwork. Bridgewater made our mortage experience very unpleasant and I would not use this B lender again. They put the B in bottom of the barrel for banks.
This bank gave me a mortgage when nobody else would. I have been with them for 13 years plus. I have no issues with them. Of course they have rules. What bank doesn't. I appreciate them stepping up when nobody else would. I have my own house because of these people.
I’m a Mortgage Broker in Ontario. Patti Adamson their Mortgage Underwriter has been a pleasure to work with. Always available to answer any of my questions and worked very hard to make a complicated deal work. I look forward to using Bridgewater Bank in the future.
my heroine dealer used to work here. That's all I really know about this place. I'm off methadone now and clean for couple years anyways. He was a fairly good guy as far as people you can buy down from, but it says something about the type of bank this is I think.
I've been working together with Bridgewater now for almost two years and it has been a fantastic experience throughout. The people I have dealt with have been great they are very organized, professional and most importantly fun. I would recommend them to anyone.
Kara is amazing! Always helpful with mortgage questions, updates, etc. She is always looking to help and find solutions for me. Thank you Kara for all you do and a big thank you to Bridgewater for never letting her leave. :) She is one of the best in Canada!
The bank pre approved a mortgage and then changed its terms from the pre approval. Once we met the higher terms and signed a mortgage commitment, they changed their terms again. This bank does not live up to their word and bargains in bad faith.
I do work with a lot of lenders, but so far I have been very impressed with Bridgewater. My assigned underwriter Travis went above and beyond to get my client approved, and I will for sure forward more business to Bridgewater. Thanks Team
My buyers were trying to get a mortgage through this bank. The bank stalled for four months eventually denying the mortgage for reasons that were in existence when the buyers first applied. I would not recommend this bank to anyone.
My team has recently placed a number of applicants with Bridgewater. Our clients were thrilled as they were almost their only choice, provided a very good solution for them and the service on the broker side is top notch.
I dont bank here and now never will. I was lost and tried to ask for help. Not only did the front lady scoff at me when I asked her to come to the door, but she treated me like I was 5 years old when i asked her for help.
Carrie is amazing! My deal took so many turns during the underwriting process. She took every opportunity to work with me through it and close this deal. I will for certain be looking at them again for lending solutions
These guys are nothing but liars and crooks. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR MONEY!!!! 11 months later they respond lol. I went to a different bank and I advise all other customers to do the same!!!!
The usual lady at the desk is extremely polite and professional. I’d feel very confident having my money with them. Great name too! Keep it up Bridgewater Bank!
I m happy with them, had a good broker working on behalf from dominion lending centre .Smooth closing no headaches,Is why i will be referring friends and family.
Carrie at Bridgewater bank is a Rock Star. She is super knowledgeable, personable, went the extra mile and even made the process a little simpler. Awesome work.
We've been working with Bridgewater Bank for many years, and they are absolutely wonderful to deal with. We highly recommend reaching out to them.
Very helpful when I had made a mistake with renewal date Brittany stepped up and got everything sorted for me in a friendly and timely manner!
A bunch of robot reviews. Takes a really long time for anything to get done. Do not flex on rates. Avoid company if possible!
