Spies on students and was hacked because of bad security. From wikipedia: Digital Learning and Apple Distinguishment Brighton Secondary School is an Apple Distinguished School; students in Year 8 and 9 are required to purchase and bring an Apple iPad to the school, while students from Year 10 to Year 12 are provided with a MacBook Air (as part of the Apple Distinguished Schools program). If the student completes Year 12, the MacBook is transferred to their ownership, otherwise it is returned to the Department of Education.[5] Large components of the school, such as textbooks and work submission, is done digitally rather than on paper, though some lessons still require physical textbooks, worksheets, or books. The Digital Learning Policy states that the school has permission to monitor ("monitor the content [...] conduct live monitoring") and publicly display information on the student's iPad or MacBook ("Students' screens may be shared on any of the large display screens at the school") at any time. This can be performed by any teachers request, or by use of the required Apple Classroom or Meraki Mobile Device Management apps.[6] Cisco Meraki's MDM also has the ability to see a live-view of the location of the device. All internet usage of any device on the school's network is monitored, filtered, and logged by the school, via use of Meraki systems and CyberHound software. CyberHound's ability to remove HTTPS security from webpages (SSL Stripping) and replace it with a falsified certificate (a Man-in-the-Middle attack) allows the school to inconspicuously monitor any specific searches or passwords the student enters.[7] As part of the school's digital learning initiative, students are signed up to Google's GSuite services and provided an email. 2018 Hack On 2 October, 2018 news broke to The Advertiser[8] and HIT 107[9] that the school had been hacked by a group of students. It is believed that personal information, passwords, and security cameras were included in the breach. The school's principal, Olivia O'Neill stated in response: "On Friday 21 September I became aware that a small number of students had illegally obtained and used staff log-in details to gain unauthorised access to our school's computer systems". The school has said they are not sure of how much information has been accessed, and have not said how the information was accessed. The students had access to the Meraki and CyberHound security systems.

Brighton secondary school recently has had trouble being able to maintain the students' toilets, with no toilets in a condition to be used. New toilets are currently being renovated at the school, but they have been delayed multiple times due to lead being found in the walls or the paint. Until then students at Brighton Secondary School have no safe, clean place to go to the toilet for the whole 6-hour school day. There are clean toilets in the gym change rooms, but these are only open for 10 minutes at the start and end of each lesson as they are not meant to be used by any other students than the ones getting changed for PE. The main reason for there being no maintained toilets at the school is because of a small number of kids damaging. them, this included removing the toilet seats, removing cubical doors, removing the toilet paper and much more. In a final attempt to stop this from happening until the new toilets are made, the school has removed the entrance door to the toilets and regularly has teachers outside the toilets, but most of the damage is already done.

The experience we are having with Brighton school is woeful unfortunately, most kids there are simply brats. An Incident happened recently, where my Daughter by mistake had broken her Lenovo stylus pen, she was so upset. We notified the company of this, and they kindly replaced it. Later it had disappeared, she became inconsolable. She could only watch (she is timid and shy) as these teen girls had found it.They didn't return it to lost property as is the protocol, no! instead they messed around with it, then broke it laughing like stupid hyenas. I only hope these girls recieve their Karma, and realise that their behaviour will create their own destiny. If parents value their kids, they would avoid this school.

Very disappointed with this school. I heard so many great reviews but it fell short for my child. My son was openly called a D@$&?head in class by the visual arts teacher in year 7 and very little was done to reflect the magnitude of her actions. If your child is neurodivergent or an active boy then this isn’t the school for you. They allow mobile phone usage but assume a 12 year old boy would be able to self regulate open access to technology. My child was in detention often because he couldn’t self regulate technology and consequently got in trouble for it. I will say the teachers tried their best but clearly they aren’t supported enough to help children more than the bare minimum expected.

This school was amazing! I felt very confident every time I entered the gates because I knew that the staff would know about everything about the school. Even some things that I wouldn't. Plus, the teachers that I had myself were very nice and understanding of what I needed help with. When I was there (2017-2021), there was a healthy teacher to student relationship. Sure, some of the students followed their favourite teachers on stuff like Twitter and Instagram (or even friended them on Facebook), but they all respected boundaries.

It’s a school living on a perceived reputation. they do nothing to help bullying. At least 10 children I could name have been either forced out or chosen to leave due to bullying this year alone, that’s at least that amount. It doesn’t cover the ones we don’t know about that said nothing and just bottled it up. Weak teachers not enforcing any discipline doesn’t help either. Respect and self respect are things it would seem are not focused on at this school.

I thought by having my daughter enrolled at Brighton that her education would be great. What a huge mistake that turned out to be. The school is quick to exclude indigenous students and not meet to each individuals needs. They push students into Flo programs that eventiate into nothing. They lie and say Flo program have a great education program, when in actual fact its so they don't have to to deal with students needs.

i remember once in year 8, it was my fourth week at the school, and i decided to enter the library toilets at my own risk. As I made my way down to one of the stalls, I was absolutely horrifed to see what looked liked twelve senior students packed like animals into a single disabled cubicle, doing god knows what, screaming like absolute jackholes. i also pretty sure that a few of them didnt make it.

DON’T GO HERE. It’s bad already if you aren’t in a special interest program, but the bathrooms make it worse. Things like bullying/ harassment get swept under the rug most of the time unless you go above the school (only then something will happen). Brighton had a good reputation for the right reasons years ago, but now it’s just horrible.

  • Lochy O'Neil

As a former student, i would say it is a well equipped school, however, there are certain things such as bullying which are swept under the rugg despite an anti bullying program, music department has its own orchestral agenda and if you score anything under a C in year 12, the principal will attempt to kick you out.

glue (about ¼ of the glue bottle) and ¼ cup water. If you want colored slime, add food coloring to the glue and water mixture. Lift some of the solution out of the container with the stir stick and note what happens. Add ¼ cup of Sodium Tetraborate (Borax) Solution to the glue and water mixture and stir slowly.

this school is disgusting and the teacher are horrible and talk about how bad the school is the toilets are disgusting and that they have to share toilets with boys and girls and there is piss on the seats. the teachers are just rude and don't help with any of the learning and just care about LGBTQ

Love the school, honestly Mr.Brighton is my favs. The coffee on fleak, needed more milk tho. Also please hit them up before coming otherwise they call the police when you sit with the kids.

Not your average highschool, for over achievers only. I got in through my efforts using an instrument but fell back in motivation and was gone unnoticed when I needed help.

  • Senior Waffles

I'm currently studying year 10 there and it's really nice I'm just sad that there music program was all about classical instruments. But overall I love it

  • Zloyd’s Unfunny content

  • Eedle Weedle

Only bad thing about this place is the toilets and some of the teachers there, other than that, it is a good school. I recommend.

  • Estelle Favre

It is a good school if you're involved in an extra-curricular program. If you're not, buckle up for a roller-coaster ride.

  • Sriyeash Gupta

If you end up doing specialist in year 11 then, the answer to Q12. on the semester 2 SATs, is 13/3.
