The harbourside is actually quite nice whenever this train service isn't running If you want the thrilling experience of breathing in poorly-maintained coal-engine fumes, then this is for you If you're a normal person, visit this vibrant area when these fools aren't polluting the entire 2-mile promenade with black plumes of filthy smoke. Whilst we're at it, why don't we re-open all the old coal power stations, so that we can show future generations the vast pollution as a sort of jolly, on weekends? They've spilt oil all over the entire 2km harbourside, and left a trail of slimy coal everywhere, where people have to walk (with children and dogs) Please shut down. These trains belong in a museum, not in your lungs.

Truly a unique attraction that is especially popular with younger audiences, the Bristol Harbour Railway is actually a fully operational railway using the tracks once used for industrial trains on the harbourside. For a small price you can hop onboard one of the small trains and ride from one end of the harbour to the other. The entire railway is volunteer-run, and the love and care given to the trains is very evident. Most of the passenger wagons are open topped, so I would recommend either avoiding the railway on cold days or wrapping up warm against the cold harbour winds. Nonetheless, the harbour railway is a firm favourite for young children who will love the spirit of the steam trains.

Great place to walk around the docks. Bikers must dismount because too much pedestrians walking there. I like to walk here till the end and go around the dock, come the way back on the other side. Good shoos and pubs around this area, benches to sit down and spend quality time with friends and family members.

Fantastic service, and magnificent to see a harbourside railway preserved to give us à hint of what it hsed to be like. Friendly staff and obviously a proper locomotive and train. Open carriages with seating and easy ramped access for pushchair and wheelchairs. Highly recommended and very scenic .

Lovely steam train attraction on the harbourside. Can be a leg saver if you are seeing several of the other attractions in the area. Sadly the trip is over far too soon but it looks like they can't do much about that nowadays!

Excellent train ride along the docks in old freight wagons now fitted with seats, the steam loco working the train was 105 years old, it's about 15 mins for a round trip from the M Shed station,

This charming little railway is my favourite place to visit! If you like trains and boats like me then this is the place for you!

Worth a visit, especially if you've a toddler who loves trains. Short 10mins ride. Fairly priced, we paid £3 pp for one way ride.

The rails are not visible in the dark or when it rains. There have been so many accidents in the area and they do not even care.

Fantastic preservation site. Great job! I wish other industrial railways had been saved like this.

  • Alana Grey

I love the smoke and thick fumes this attraction spews into the city and environment. Great idea!

  • Gabriel Schmitt

Lots of parts of the railway lines from the Harbour have been removed!

  • Ruth Chapman

A chuff on a steam train alongside Bristol harbourside - great fun!

  • Finn Roger Sørseth

Delayed and overcrowded trains can hardly be the station's fault.

  • Ian Jordan

Great fun. There's nothing quite the same as a steam train ride.
