We booked this as it was close to a party venue and we thought it would be nice to have a night away. The hotel outside the rooms looks nice but as soon as you enter your room, you're greeted with problems straight away. The carpet was worn, the shower was powerful but the head itself was covered in grime and absolute filth. The remote control looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. On a positive, the sheets on the bed were clean but the towels had stains on. We then left for the evening for our night out, once we returned at 11ish, we decided to grab a drink from the bar and was charged extortionate amounts for a half a small glass of spirit and mixer. We then went back to the room and despite many attempts, our room key wouldn't work. We then had to traipse back down to the reception and was treated with nonchalance by the receptionist and given a new key with no apology. We then got to the room slightly miffed at our experience so far. Once in bed, we were faced with a night on a rock for a mattress and a hotel full of banshees, the walls were paper thin and 4 rooms were crammed into a tiny cul-de-sac type area so everything could be heard, including a woman telling her entire life story over the phone and banging doors from above also. Once we were leaving in the morning (because we couldn't take any more), tired and very unimpressed, the cleaner was lingering in the hallway at around half 7 and started questioning us about what room we were staying in, considering checkout was 11 we found this unreasonable. It shouldn't have been assumed that we were checking out, we could've just been loading up the car. Overall, the one star is just genuinely for the clean bedding as everything else about this hotel was terrible and I wouldn't spend another evening in there even if it was free.

I was booked in for 3 nights - but 1 night was 1 night too many!! My bed was like a board on springs, the sheets were clean but I couldn’t help feeling I was getting nibbled by something, and my colleague in another room actually did. The place is tired, dirty, unloved, smelly, foreboding, depressive and just plain awful. And to make it worse, the only beer on pump which should have been a good Hobgoblin was cloudy and very definitely off. It summed the whole place up. My first room on the ground floor was dark and depressive. I hated the atmosphere in the room and I couldn’t wait to get out. It was a family room with 3 beds which was overkill for just me. The window looked straight on to another part of the building less than 2 metres away and a fire escape stairway. I was given a tiny room on the second floor in the main part of the hotel’s accommodation. It stunk of stale smoke and had obviously once been a smoking room but having not seen a lick of paint in years the smell was too heavily impregnated in the room’s walls and carpet. I can only guess at when the carpet last saw a vacuum cleaner in action and it wouldn’t have been recently - it was littered with fabric threads and even an old skin plaster and who knows what else. There was only one power socket on the other side if the room from the bed and I had to go in to the bathroom and shut the door before I could get to the shower as the bathroom was so small. The sink was a small vanity room sink. In my colleague’s room the plug socket was hanging out of the wall with the kettle lead potentially lethally plugged in - he reported it at tea time and they said they would get someone to look at it later but it was still like it when we left the next morning. We checked out and found somewhere else to stay the next night.

This hotel was pre-arranged by Flybe as our flight was cancelled. So, I can't complain too much as it was free, and I was glad of a place to bed down before our re-arranged flight in the morning. However, I feel I should at least highlight my experience for anyone who's thinking of paying to stay here. The phone signal in the room was non existent (room 6) - I'm on the Three network. The wifi was a paid for service (save for a free 20min) so keep this in mind if booking. There was a strange white splash stain over the bottom of the wardrobe (looked liked someone had spilled a cup of tea previously and had not been cleaned) however, I'm not squeamish and the rest of the room was fine, even if very dated. There was no plug socket by the bed, and no alarm clock, so do not expect to be able to charge your phone and set an alarm next to the bed. Food wise, the Pizza from the Pizza restaurant was nice, but we got short thrift from the waiter who didn't seem happy that he was serving us at 10:30pm - as they appeared to have stayed open late because our flight was cancelled. The waiter was so blunt I literally couldn't help but laugh - bearing in mind I'd been travelling for the last 12hrs and was absolutely exhausted my self - I felt the waiters pain as he said, "you no look at menu... 1 pizza... small size ... 1 topping *** extended pause *** only pepperoni, or chilli beef?", oh how I was so tempted to say, 'anything for Vegans?!' . All in all it felt like a truck stop hotel - which is fine if that's what your expecting, but I've got to imagine there are a lot better nearby even if it's an extra few quid per night. All that said, the bed was fine and I did sleep well, and there were no noise issues. So, 2 out of 5 stars from me.

Having stayed here a few times before I've always found it to be excellent value for money when travelling, with friendly and helpful staff. This time was different unfortunately. I booked one night and 15 days parking. On arrival the lady on check in was quite surly and didn't ask if we required a transfer or ask our reg number. Thankfully I remembered to go back later and queue to arrange this. In the restaurant the buffet dinner was offered, but there was only a 3 course option so we decided to head to the other restaurant. After waiting 10 minutes to be seated and a further 15 minutes for us to see a waiter, we placed our order. We were then informed that service would be approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, not great with a small child in tow so we retreated to our room. After 3 attempts and 20 minutes we got through to room service. The food was delivered quickly, although the request to not add mushrooms to the pizza was ignored. Transfer to airport was great, as usual. We also booked a room for our return, where the lady couldn't have been more helpful. After 27 hours of travelling we went straight to our room, checked out the room service menu, and confident we could order we had a 10 hour 'nap', waking at midnight. Upon calling room service we were told that the menu is wrong and there is now no late room service! We would have set an alarm for dinner had we known. We were offered a number for a takeaway. Venturing out at 1am, again with small child in tow, we eventually found a garage and feasted on nik naks and cheese strings. The experience has put me off using the hotel again, due to a lack of facilities available when they are needed most, especially for an airport parking hotel.

My daughter treated me to a spa day at the hotel which we really enjoyed yesterday. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds & only 5 mins from the M56. Everything from the second we arrived was perfect. We were greeted by a lovely lady called Michelle who showed us to our reserved table & we were offered drinks. We assumed it was just tea or coffee but special coffees are also included so enjoyed lattes and cappuccinos. We were then given robes, slippers & towels & a padlock for the lockers. Lots of other spas charge for these facilities. The changing rooms were spotless, we used the pool, sauna, steam room & the jacuzzi (that was particularly nice, lovely & hot)
We then showered & went for our treatments, I chose the head massage. This was brilliant, totally relaxing, in fact as it also was a back & shoulder massage too it was the best one I’ve had! My daughter had a facial & was equally pleased.
We then had our afternoon tea which was delicious. We chose to have the wine (also included in the price) and were given a bottle! Again it was free flowing hot drinks. The spa has a hair salon & as a special offer you can choose a wash & blow dry which we opted for. Ruth is lovely & took ages with us both & didn’t rush at all. A well worthwhile added extra for £12 each. Thoroughly happy, all the staff were lovely & looked after us well, but a special mention & thank you has to be made to Michelle, Chiara & Ruth who were lovely. Will definitely be returning soon!

When booking we asked for a disabled room and one with a wet room. This was confirmed as done through the booking team. However when we arrived the room was only an accessible room with a bath, also there was no equipment available to help assist us use the rooms ficilities. However I can not praise the manager more. She immediately joined us in the room after we Rang reception to voice our concerns, she not only apologised honestly for the mistake, she happily listened to our thoughts on how we could have brought our own equipment if we had just be told at the booking state what we would need. She not only assured us she would fulling investigate what the booking staff where doing, she gave us a partial refund and booked us in to the restaurant for both nights at the hotel. She honestly couldn't do enough to help us. Now we know what to take with us we would happily stay there again for a few nights when needed. We can not fault the staff. They only down fall to the hotel's way of running things is there are no irons or ironing boards in or available for the rooms. They have squashed two very flimsy ironing board quite literally into a cupboard area. It's not ventilated or cleaned well and it's like doing your ironing in a sauna. I have a problem breathing in that kind of atmosphere so any one with asthma would no doubt struggle.

Went on a work function and stayed over night and was really looking forward to it but unfortunately the stay was very unpleasant. Firstly the 3 course meal was to a poor standard, meat really dry, gravy was like water, the whole thing was bland. Staff behind the bar was rude when told about the food and said "cook it yourself then" which was very unprofessional. Breakfast I was hoping for something edible but the theme continued, I had to remove a very long hair from my breakfast which was very off putting, coffee had a very strange taste and the staff at breakfast was and very rude. The bedroom initially I thought was ok , however having spent around 10 mins in it I realised the carpet was filthy, had a strange smell and the bed springs were picking through the mattress. The heating was at a high level too so I decided to open the window only to smell marijuana so had to close them the remainder of the night. Overall I would not recommend this hotel at all unless your desperate! If you read this I hope you dont think I'm coming across as snobby, I'm not, but what I do expect is well mannered staff a decent bed and edible food. I would definitely prefer a poncho in the woods anytime to this hotel.

Really disappointed with our stay. The room was mostly clean but very dated and was as depressing as the weather (gloomy due to heavy rain). Only 2 useable plug sockets & a lamp that didn't work. Whilst I was getting changed, a maintenance man walked in to the room to carry out a check on the smoke detector, he did apologise (he thought it was vacant) & fortunately I wasn't fully undressed. Whilst I can see the funny side of this, it was quite embarrassing & I didn't receive an apology from the duty manager (who I assumed it had been reported to & would follow it up). Discovered we had to pay extra to use the spa facilities (only wanted a quick dip in the pool) £5pp (which is usually included at most hotels) this put an even bigger dampener on our stay & our room wasn't somewhere we felt we could chill as an alternative, beds extremely uncomfortable & as previously mentioned the room was rather dull. Called reception shortly after midnight to order some sandwiches (room service info clearly says between 11pm & 3am a selection of sandwiches are available) only to be told that as it was Friday there wasn't anything left & the chef had gone home. On checking out we assumed we'd be asked about our stay & have the opportunity to politely give verbal feedback.... Unfortunately not.

The family room including the bathroom was spacious. WiFi is only free for 30 minutes. Once you have used 30 minutes, vouchers to use the internet cost £7 for 24 hours and there are options to buy vouchers for longer. Personally, when I see hotels charge to use WiFi it makes the hotel look cheap. Just include it in the price! Even coffee shops display their WiFi code and people sit there for hours and buy a few coffees. Why not include it in the price when your customers have spent good money for the room. We were fifteen minutes late for check out so we got a call to our room saying it is time for check out. Fair enough. We said we were leaving. No more than two minutes later we got a knock at the door to say it was time to check out. We said we got the phone call and we were leaving. We left the room to find a cleaner stood outside with her arms folded. My husband went back in because he forgot to bring the swipe card in the rush to get out and the cleaner sighed. Did not feel like a valued guest here. I would recommend staying at a different hotel which would be a similar price but you get treated like a paying customer not a hindrance. Passable for one night. You can get better offers elsewhere so worth looking at other hotels.

I'd Like to set a challenge to the next victim that stays in Room 136 TV fixed to the right hand wall. No bracket to allow it to move. Unable to watch from your bed ?? One tiny window that doesn't either open nor close . A door you can not lock. Used interior chair to fix under the door handle .... Three night stay , despite putting out a please service my room sign...it wasn't . Every cleaned . The bins emptied or the one set of towels replaced . The floor hovered. The bathroom cleaned . Dirty A car park that was partially flooded . No guidance as to how to walk from hotel to the main room . No bus or location information . Various A4 notices ALL over reception. None of them containing information for a Lady that was encountering her first visit to Manchester on training for her new role ... A dog that barked until the wee small hours .... A housekeeper that tossed a bale of dirty bedding from a floor above, as I exited the staircase from floor one . The door beside the out of order pool table. Un helpful staff , as to directions to room. Breakfast times... location etc A room key that needed re activating each time I left the room , and NO it wasn't near phone etc Once is enough ....

The facilities are great but that's about where it ends. The rooms are done to a decent standard but mutten dressed as lamb springs to mind. Saying that, the Jacuzzi bath tub in the ensuite is a nice bonus. Unfortunately when you get out nice and relaxed, you're soon bought back to a very hard reality if you want to relax on the bed. I don't mind a firm mattress but it's just plain and simple like trying to relax on wood. Laid awake most of the night, literally counting down the minutes until my alarm went off, so I could end the misery of trying to get a good night's sleep before the flight. The shuttle was poorly organised! At check in we were given the leaflet of shuttle times and asked to book one. They are on the hour, every hour. Luckily we were down to reception (no point in trying to relax on the plywood mattress) and the shuttle was outside waiting as it actually leaves half past the hour, not on the hour. He didn't have us booked on it either which was a shock and there's no booking policy as such, so if there are too many passengers, it's a first come first serve basis, so if you can't get on, you'll be waiting an hour for the next. After the experience of all this, you'll need a holiday after!!!

I’m quiet sad to write this as I have been visiting the hotel for the past couple of years one/twice a year! On this particular visit I noticed the the clientele had gone very much down hill there was rowdy groups of young men dressed in hooded tracksuits very drunk and arguing between them! There was a Indian wedding function on that just took over the hotel where there was kids running in and out of the bar area and music so loud I could not here the bar staff! The room I was in which I paid extra for was advertised as the executive suit ...... I could not see anything executive about it! It was very small and dated the television was so small it was hard to see from the bed! I have paid for a standard room before which was of better quality! I could not fault the bar staff in the resident bar very friendly and helpful and constantly apologetic for the environment! The staff in the sport bar I found to be quiet rude when asked if they would be showing the boxing ( clue in sports bar) but the lady was very rude about it and told us to go else where and watch it! All in all A terrible visit unfortunately I will not be returning in the future

Terrible hotel. Starts off not being able to find a parking space despite the hotel not being busy, probably because they sub let the parking to an airport parking company. After finally finding a sort of space in their parking field I waded through mud in the pitch black to be greeted by moderately friendly staff. My room was in a block a little away from the main hotel and the decor was gritty 1970s. Tiny, tatty room with only one plug so I couldn't charge my phone and watch TV at the same time. The toilet was stained and the chair was ripped and ancient. The bathroom felt grotty and I didn't want to use the shower facilities. My room was at the start of the corridor and every time another guest opened the entrance door my room shook. I could hear the couple next to me talking as if they were in the same room. To be fair, the sheets and room were clean, it's just an ultra budget tatty hotel. I'm not a moaner and have never written a review before but it's the worse hotel I've stayed in. Perhaps I've been pampered a little too much from many business trips away. My advice is don't stay here!

5 of us stayed in 2 rooms. We didn't really enjoy it. In our room only 1 bath towel and hand towel. Only soap bar in bathroom, nearly empty bodywash. The shower curtain needs to be replaced. The dirt at the bottom of the curtain was poor. No aircon only a broken fan being held together with zip ties. Strange smell coming from rooms and the halls. One of the windows had no handle to open. There was a sign in the toilet saying 'keep the toilet door closed when showering to stop the fire alarm setting off and causing an evacuation' would that be the hotels fault or mine? Poor ventilation? Theres no safe in the room or iron. There was a hairdryer, plenty of cupboard space, TV, decent lighting and phone. Phone coverage was very bad. There is no free wifi...only 20mins free a day. I don't think I've been in a business hotel without free wifi. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was good. Location was good too. I didnt get a chance to try the extra facilities. For the price of the rooms I didnt feel it was worth it.

I found staying here quite depressing. Almost everything about this hotel is just a bit rubbish. Decor is very dated, seventies or eighties. We had a double room which was more suitable for a single bed than a double - it was tiny. The room was also very hot even though the heating was off. Hotel has a gym but you have to pay £5 to use, free in every other hotel I've stayed. Breakfast was £10.50 but selection was quite limited and the "Weetabix" tasted like they were some no-name brand, as did the muesli - I couldn't finish it. Restaurant had no windows and chunky Artex on the walls - not very uplifting first thing in the morning - and breakfast ended at 9.45 on a Sunday despite a sign at reception saying it went on until 10am. Needed to replace key card to room as it stopped working. Wireless was free but signal was too weak to use in room, explaining why there were so many people in reception using their laptops and tablets. One positive, it was clean. I'd never go here again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

  • Anita Moore

Smell of cigarette smoke in the corridor when we arrived. After dinner that changed to a strong smell of cannabis. We didn't report it to reception but to be fair when we arrived the staff already looked stressed and miserable. We booked the hotel with parking and although we had a minibus transfer to the airport they sent a taxi for our return. To say it was a squeeze in the car with 4 adults and 4 large cases was an understatement. The driver was beyond rude. Left us to get our own cases out the car in the rain whilst he just sat there. He asked us quite rudely if we were sure where we were going as once we were there he was leaving us. Just had a terrible attitude. On a positive note, apart from getting high on cannabis fumes the room was nice enough. The buffet dinner was good value in my opinion. I wouldn't stay there again. It was good value with the parking but just issues with certain things. If you do book it you're probably better sorting your own airport transfers.

Review on spa day package for two: Bad Experience. The building is old and did not look very clean. It needs refurbishing and it clearly lacks maintenance. The massage was average, the (not so) 'relaxing' music was old school & the massage oil did not smell nice. There was rentokill by the swimming pool (at least hide it in a plant or something ....), the afternoon tea was AWFUL. Terrible sandwiches and dry scones, the worst orange juice ever, even the alcoholic drink wasn't good; (some sort of sweet alcoholic pear fizzy drink, we didn't even drink it.) The sticker on the bottle was damaged at the top which didn't look classy at all and made the bottle look like it had been there for quite a while. The decoration overall was poor (old plastic trees, old school paper placemats, old plastic wine glasses). The steam room's walls need maintenance. Would I go back? Absolutely not. AVOID.

No problem at all with the accommodation; clean and roomy We had a problem with the pick up from the airport on Saturday evening 09/11/2019. The transport driver appeared to have an issue with us sitting in the van at 18:50, stating we would have to wait until 19:15 before he left to pick up at another terminal. 2 elderly people were waiting, the lady with a mobility problem. The driver didn’t help or assist the lady into the van. On reaching the hotel, whilst unloading our luggage he let the case fall, resulting in the case caster breaking rendering it unusable. He wouldn’t admit to letting it fall and an argument ensued. The ladies husband remonstrated with the driver for his unprofessionalism with regard to taking due care regarding his wife and again the driver who began to argue and shout. The hotel, however, was perfect.

I was disappointed with my stay last night and would not stay at the hotel again or recommend it. On booking into the hotel I was not informed that the hotel has loud entertainment every night of the week until around 11 pm so if you want to have a peaceful, relaxing evening then that would not be possible as the loud music of the entertainment would resonate throughout the whole building. I complained 3 times to Reception and having been told that the music would stop at 10 pm, it did not in fact stop until 10.40 pm. The restaurants were poor and I was surprised that I could not take coffee at the end of my evening meal unless I went into the residents lounge and purchased it there. When I complained to the Reception on departure, they weren't bothered that I did not enjoy my stay. The room was adequate but my bathroom was grubby. No WiFi in room and the TV was antiquated with limited stations.

  • john whitfield

Very average. Like most Britannia hotels it's very dated. My room was opposite a service corridor with the door left open. Sticky floors and safety signs left on display. Bad signage back to reception. I enquired about using the gym and pool on arrival. No mention of a charge. I got up to my room. Got changed. Came back down without money. And was told by a European guy on the desk that I had to pay. I wasn't aware of this. He said there is a sign on the desk. Sadly not visible from my room or reception. He said information is on web site. I couldn't see it. So not happy about that. Food was very average in dated surroundings. Processed sausages in gravy is holiday camp food. Not hotel standard. Overall not good. Dated fittings in room. And litter on floor left from last occupant. The rusty fixture on the bathroom wall was not even straight. Won't be coming back here

  • Kawawa Chitiya

Had a double room, it's quite dated, a 21 inch LCD TV on the wall, peeling paint on the walls, a view of what looks like a construction site out the window. Despite that, the room was clean and odourless, the water pressure in the shower was amazing, albeit a lack of space. We did ask reception to help get our sink unclogged, they didn't care, and did nothing about it. Breakfast was below average. The mushrooms were literally fried crispy, the eggs were well done, the bacon was oily. The coffee tasted like the coffee beans were burnt. The venue is busy most weekends, so expect loud music. When people walk through the corridors and talk, you can literally hear them through the walls. If you stand in the bathroom, you can equally hear anyone in the next room... Go figure! I guess for the price, it's hard to have high expectations.

  • John Bamford

This hotel is absolutely massive and it has a car park that is equally as huge. This didn't help us to find a parking space however because the place was heaving with visitors. The building itself is peculiar and has a very unkept feel about it. It kind of reminded me of the resident evil mansion with bright red carpets and an overwhelming feel if apathy and general disrepair. There were children sitting in corridors unattended for hours playing with their phones and roaming / running up and down the halls. The rooms were small, drab and the bed was like sleeping on pebble beach. The worst part was the noise with kids running up and down the halls at 10pm and the occasional inconsiderate parent hollering after them when you just want to get some sleep. The shower was excellent however. Poor, seek an alternative

  • Bilal Asad

The worst hotel ever! I done a late check-in which was not a problem. The staff at reception do not look professional but hey ho it was late I just wanted to get in to my room. So checked it - lock on door was broken issue number one. Number 2 went to order room service stated after 11pm sandwiches only which is fine, got told no food is available whatsoever, right ok in that case can I order a couple of drinks sorry we only have alcoholic drinks. Then finally asked if I could get some toothpaste sent to my room - none available! So I was driving round at 1am getting all this sorted not fun after driving up from London and having to go to a meeting at 7am in the morning. Rubbish complained to my corporate services and we will not be booking this hotel again.

Online the rooms looked updated from starting here previously however on the 4th floor the room we are in there is a constant noise which is either the Air Con or some Extractor Fan. What ever it is it’s loud enough not to sleep. ! Also the mattress is so uncomfortable literally you can feel the springs so we decided to sleep on top of the quilt but then it was freezing. The heating wasn’t working properly and kept making noises throughout the night. Rang through to reception who didn’t answer. Oh also asked for non dairy milk and was told they don’t offer. Not a hotel I would recommend especially for the price they charge ! Will be asking for a full refund !!!

Faulty towers basically. Needs a refurb urgently. Illuminated signs missing letters, food looked horrendous for buffet option. Low end school dinner grub. Stayed in better hostels. Paid 48 for a twin room which I was the cheapest rate I could find for it as I would have been devastated if I'd paid more. Shuttles to the airport so if it's a cheap night stay over before or after a flight then it's ideal but wouldn't like to spend anymore than 12 hours there. Booked as I was working in the area and wanted to use the pool and gym but that was at an additional charge on check in which I declined once I saw the state of the hotel. Wasn't expecting a decent facility to be there judging by the state of the place when I arrived

One star is too much! Hotel nice, but we did not rent a room, because receptionist Ahmed was totally unprofessional, rude and provocative. We wanted to make our friends stayed there for 12 nights. Unfortunately employee effectively discouraged us to do this. 15 minutes he discussed, he asked it, why not look into his eyes, why you move your head. On several occasions we have reiterated our question about the availability of the room. When we asked for to check if a free room and just that we want to know and we do not have the time, he asked my boyfriend if he is Polish, and he added that everywhere in the hotel are cameras! We are appalled! Is the service is according to nationalities?

The hotel room was adequate. However, the airport transfer offered by the hotel is extremely unreliable. The shuttle for the drop to the airport arrived 45 minutes late after repeated calls to the taxi service and the driver had no clue that the service was prepaid at the hotel . The pick up from the airport 3 days later was no better. The taxi shuttle for 3:15 never came. The taxi service on the phone implied we would have missed it and that it was there on time. (We had been waiting at the pick-up point since 2:50). The next shuttle mini bus arrived at 4:00. Would like to warn anyone using the hotel services to keep ample time in hand for the transfer to and from the hotel.

The hotel lies behind trees and a club called 'Fridays' which made it hard to find from the main road, so beware. I wasn't looking forward to our one night visit after reading the reviews and entered reception with gritted teeth. I'm delighted to say my experience was an enjoyable one. Yes, the rooms were a little dated, yes, it was busy and noisy but it was the sound of people enjoying themselves. Yes, the car park looked full but we didn't have ours with us. The staff were friendly and helpful and the wedding party and 18th party added to the atmosphere. Make up your own mind I say but £50 for dinner, bed and breakfast and use of the spa for two people I'm very happy.

  • jw “Shipping Method” art

Don't have the evening meal buffet, ended up just eating six bread rolls for my evening meal as the rest of the food was worrying, the dining area looked like it was decorated by the same people that decorated the bar in the TV show Quincy. Hotel room window would not shut but this was not a problem as the room was like a furnace so I needed all the fresh air I could get (probably quite nice in the winter) was also a strange noise going on outside the window most of the night, sounded like a faulty conveyor belt, maybe it was the mystery meat machine getting the breakfast buffet ready. Would recommend this hotel to people with low standards or no other option.

Spent an awful night here. Staff were rude on arrival and didn't even acknowledge we were waiting to check-in despite 4 members of staff standing at the reception desk, room was mouldy and musty with dirty bedding and stained towels. Even the glasses were dirty, it just felt grotty. Had to climb over Chinese food boxes from another guest to get to our room. No wi-fi in the room but we did get a nice early wake up call from the fire alarm. Not a relaxing experience. We had hoped to make use of the hotel facilities the following day but we couldn't wait to leave. Waste of money. You get a far better experience elsewhere and can probably spend a bit less too.

  • David Allard

We stopped here the night before our flight from Manchester. Room was clean and comfortable, although we had air con fans right outside the window; not so easy to sleep through, which is annoying when you're getting up early. A couple of different restaurants available, food was good. The hotel offers a relatively cheap shuttle to the airport. However, be careful; although the timetable states that it goes to all terminals, in practice the driver only stops at terminal 2, which might mean a long walk. On return, it took several calls to the 'courtesy' line to get a taxi to come, and when it did, it was 25 minutes late. My advice, just get a normal taxi.

  • Laiyee Jamieson

Enjoyed my stay here for 5 days. Food was good, hot and plenty of choice, buffet style and good service from the waiters, who cleared away our dirty plates promptly. Nice dining restaurant area. Bedroom was very hot, even with a fan on and windows open. Shower was powerful with good temperature control. I kept banging my arm off the soap dispenser in the shower cubicle though as it has been fitted too low I think so no way of avoiding that. Gym was great with good Aircon, clean and a variety of machines. Swimming pool was good and jacuzzi was great. No entertainment. Two 20min slots of free WiFi a day but it didn't always work. Would stay here again.

  • Wendy Wright

Reception staff do not go overboard with warm words and courtesy- very basic manners. Rooms clean and comfy though very dated. Bathroom needed a major refit - loose ceiling tiles and tired decor. Evening meal the worst restaurant meal I have ever had- reminiscent of the worst kind of school dinner- literally shrivelled vegetables and gravy skin the consistency of huge oil slick. Wine from the bar quite honestly undrinkable - like vinegar. We had paid for the airport parking deal but still had to pay quite a substantial amount for the transfer shuttle service! I would never stay here again- relatively cheap but fairly unpleasant.

  • Alison Oxton

A budget hotel. Extremely tacky lobby and bar area with red sparkly streamers and fruit machines. I had to change rooms after the first room, overlooking the bins, was full of dead insects and extremely over heated. The elevator did not appear to be in service on this side of the hotel and the hallways and stairs were extremely shabby. The second room was a free upgrade and much nicer, in a better part of the hotel, but had clearly had a smoker staying in the room before me so the smell was not pleasant. Old and tired mattress needed replacing and loud music drifted up from the ground floor until midnight. Free parking.

  • Caroline Denham

Stayed here for one night before flying from Manchester airport. It was a great price for one night stay and 7 nights car park. Couple of nice restaurants and the breakfast was lovely. Bar reasonably priced. Paid for the airport transfers and had no problems and collected our car with no problems on our return. Only advice I would give is when you drive in, park on the right. All the poor cars that were parked on the left were flooded as there had been heavy rain and I would not have liked to try and get to my car walking through a flood!

I ordered a double room on line. When i arrived at reception to check in they gave me a standard single room so I had to change rooms not only that they had to activate my key card twice because they forgot so I had to return to reception twice. It did not stop there! They checked me in the room I originally booked on line , to find they forgot to activate my key card again. It was a very unprofessional experience by the staff plus they were rude and impatient. They need to realise that this hotel is always busy it is near the airport so they should be used to this . Hospitality is required in this field regardless!

  • Debbie Clarke

We recently stayed at this hotel and we didn't have a pleasant experience. The room that we stayed in was boiling hot and we had no air con or fans to help cool us down. We also used the hairdryer that was wired into the wall, we found this really unsafe and faulty as it had a live wire and zapped us when we used this. When we spoke to the reception the next morning to explain about our bad experience, the receptionist told it was hot due to the weather and didn't have an appolagy from the hotel about our bad experience. We stayed with family and friends and they all had the same experience about the rooms.

  • Lisa Moodie

We stayed here for 1 night with a week's parking included for our summer holiday flying from Manchester. Although the hotel is a bit tired, it was clean enough for a 1 night stay and the spa was nice for a swim. There is a restaurant and pub joining on which we went to and both were good. Reception staff organised our transfer to the airport at an extra cost which we expected. Good thing to note is that a 5 minute drive away is a high street with a few pound shops and bakeries where you can get breakfast and any last minute things you may have forgotten for your holiday like shampoo etc.

  • Mandy Burton

We park and stay here a few times a year the day before we go to Manchester Airport for our holidays. Been doing this for quite some years now. Lovely relaxed atmosphere that gets us in the mood for our holidays. Great bar area to unwind and have a few drinks. Never had a problem finding a parking space or any problems with noise. You chose a timeslot at reception for your transfer to the airport absolutely hassle free. Upon return at the airport you ring to be picked up and returned to the hotel to collect your car. You keep your keys at all times. Can't wait to return.

  • Kristy xxx

It looks a nice hotel and we stayed in the executive suite which was nice and spacious however the cleanliness was far from adequate. The dust was as thick as a pound coin behind the bed (could see from where mattress ended) lots of spillage on both walls and lampshades, bin in the bathroom hadn't been cleaned and there was excrement smears on the actual toilet seat itself. Yes you read that correctly. I did not bathe whilst here overnight and I slept in my clothes. Thought it would be a nice change from travelling to the airport at 4am...next time I'll stay home

  • Michael Crinnion (Crin)

This place isn't great. We got a double room for £90 which is way more than it should be. The place is pretty dated and in need of a bit of a refresh visually. The room was basic and 'mostly clean', nothing that would upset you but certainly not what you'd expect for £90. The walls are pretty thin and the whole place had a faint smell of cigarettes, perhaps due to half a dozen people outside the front door pretending not to see the "NO SMOKING" sign hanging behind them. It's not terrible and the bed was reasonable, but I'd certainly not recommend for this price.

  • Pedro González

Lady on reception looked like a bulldog chewing a wasp. Looks can be deceiving but things didn’t get any better. The hotel reminds me of my old student house; rowdy parties, smelly, carpet which has seen better days, glasses which haven’t been washed for a few days and old furniture. Honestly, if you want don’t care where you put your head and have low expectations, go for it. If you book this place in the hope of something else, do not bother. The owners obviously do not invest properly in its upkeep, maintenance or renovation. It feels third world.

  • Jaz Bloomfield

It felt like I was being taken to 1980s. Very old and drab looking hotel. Our room was tiny and had two very small and very uncomfortable beds. We had no TV remote and only one pillow for one of the beds. We asked for the remote and a pillow a total of 3 times before they finally gave us a pillow. No remote though. The bathroom was ok. The bathroom was very poorly decorated. It was really loud. Also on one of the nights, there was a wedding which led into a bloody fight. Police cars and blood everywhere. It was a horrible experience.

  • Mark W (Mark)

Worst hotel I have been to in a long time. Poor decor throughout. The hotel doesn't appear to have been decorated since 70s. The room I had was the same. The room was small and the bed was old and uncomfortable. Noise in the room was too much from neighbours, due to poor sound insulation and people walking past. The hotel facilities are generally poor. The gym and pool have a £5 per day charge, but save your money. Pool and gym are tiny. Only redeeming feature was the food was half decent. I will not stay again

  • Khadijeh Hedges

Avoid! The beds are so hard its like sleeping on a concrete floor (with no exaggeration). You need to take your own towels - the towels provided are really small and no bath towel is provided - I asked at reception. Even though it has a large amount of parking it is always full holiday-makers leaving their cars so there are no spaces for the people actually using the hotel. The only reason I have given it 2 stars is the staff are lovely and really helpful with the tools they have been given to work with.

  • Lorraine Morrison

Second visit here with National Holidays...first time about 11 years ago. Booked twin room but it actually had 1 king size , twin beds pushed together and a double futon, but still enough room. Sparkling modern bathroom with lovely user- friendly shower. Breakfast great with lovely fresh fruit and gluten free options. Evening meal ok., but brighter lights would help see what we were eating. Friendly staff at this country house style hotel opposite a golf course. There is also an on-site leisure pool.

  • Ryan Martin Young

Stayed here with family for a number of nights whilst family member had treatment at the Christie cancer hospital. Jackie king was exceptionally friendly and accomadating and gave us a discounted price and room upgrades where possible on less busy night due to staying for the Christie. The included breakfast was nice. Gym and pool was fine and staff were all very friendly would recommend to anyone needing somewhere to stay with family going to the Christie, as it's a short 20 minute walk away.

  • scott richardson

Checked out of this dump at 4am, phoned at 4.30 am from the airport to advise that I'd left my watch on the dates dressing table. Wed left our car there for the week while we was on holiday and was told my watch would be kept safe until we arrived back a week later. After numerous phone calls and emails the watch has never appeared, I can only presume it was stolen. I've had no response at all. Avoid at all costs.

Pros: price was good, big room and spacious bathroom with bathtub, was very clean although the decoration was outdated, free parking space. Cons: the receptionist was not welcoming, the room was so far inside that we had to walk threw corridors and long long distance to reach it, there were no heating at room and the weather was still chilling, the hot water took long time to reach, the place is somewhat hidden and the lobby entrance is not on the main streets, the TV was very very small.

  • Alison Jones

Extremely unfriendly, rude reception staff greeted us. Room was filthy...blood on the wall, chewing gum on the bathroom floor, mould on the ceiling and more which I don't care to actually write. Flies and bugs everywhere too. The windows were so dirty I couldnt see through them. Lift was broken so struggled to get two suitcases to the top floor. Woke up itching all over. Didn't bother with breakfast, would you risk it with the condition/ hygeine in the room? Vile place. Do not stay here.

  • Víctor GRuiz

Unfortunately, despite the cheap price per room, it was worse that we expected. No lift service during three days in a row and we were given a 4th floor room. No one to help you with the baggage. We had to pay extra for the gym facilities. Poor Spa and pool facilities. The room was good, however the mattress is, I believe, the worst mattress i have ever slept on. Very old furniture in general. No breakfast included. Very loud hotel as they organise parties and events too until late.

  • Jacob Barrett

Paid £75 for a room on a Saturday night. Was genuinely amongst, if not THE worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Room stank of smoke, was a tiny box room, cigarette burns on the window sill, people playing pool at 2am across the small courtyard our window looked out onto and a tiny double bed. Nothing like the photos, stains on the wall. Bathroom and surfaces looked clean, which is what the one star is awarded for, that and the fact that Google only lets you go down as low as one star.

  • Robyn Jarvie (Rob)

Absolutely disgusting hotel had to change rooms due to how dirty the 1st one was, the 2nd room not much better... Bed was horrible and could feel springs through mattress. Stayed here for 2 nights and its was horrible couldn't sleep due to noise and doors slamming shut all night. Staff are rude not helpful at all couldn't care less. Hotel full of young tracksuit wearing kids running riot. Went down to use the pool and full of young drunk lads completely taking over the spa.

  • Gemma Anderson

After using this hotel for years, I can safely say I'll never visit again. Jo on reception was rude enough to put us off permanently alone, it was such a hostile "welcome" you would have thought we had landed in her own front room with our cases looking for a place to stay The whole place has gone tatty. Breakfast was ok though, minus the new water feature in the restaraunt, dripping water from the ceilings. Shame as it was always an enjoyable pre holiday stay.

  • Karen Hayes

Hotel very busy, reception staff unwelcoming & bins in foyer overflowing with rubbish. No air conditioning so room extremely hot & bathroom not clean (sink wouldn't drain, soap scum in shower). Bed comfy . Whole place looks tired & stuck in a time warp & staff give impression they would rather not be there. No idea if value for money as stay was a birthday treat, luckily had wonderful weekend despite the accommodation. 2 stars for comfy bed & handy location.

  • suzanne phillips

Where do I start beds hard but they did give us a mattress topper, not enough room at side of bed, carpets stained, shower didn't work at all we reported it the knob which you pull to operate the shower came off the didn't fix it at all during our 3nt stay. The breakfast was ok, the evening meal was not very good we ate out one night, bar needs more choice, entertainment was very good on the Saturday evening, would not stay here again due to the room issues.

  • Michelle Baxter

Really horrible place to spend the night before an early morning flight. The room was clean but very run down and there was a strange smell. I reluctantly used the shower but not for long. We had paid to leave our car in the hotel's car park but were really unsure about the security they had in place. We of course had no other option by this point so just found the best, most visible space we could. There's cheap and cheerful and then there's just cheap!

  • Alan McManus

On arrival, barely got through the door to join the queue to check in with the one person on duty. 25 minutes later tired & frustrated I had been checked in. The whole hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment. On returning from a meal out with friends, we tried to have a drink in the residents bar at midnight but it was closed & there was no service available. On the plus side, the breakfast was good, but overall I won't be returning to this hotel.

  • Susan Brooks

I have given 3star for the room and excellent service . And food was really nice Also.spindels health suite lovely pool and Hot Tub also Gym room .. But the downside was the( Hard Mattress)on the beds! I had trouble sleeping due to my condition of Fibromyalga. I would like to see 2 inch Mattress Toppers introduced that you can hire out and charge for it . Customers need to know that the beds are Hard but we do have mattress toppers? Many thanks ..

  • Gary kent

Great location in beautiful area, parking always available. It is a cheap choice with a lovely outside area and people say the decor is dated, but I think it makes it unique and not your average clinical cheap hotel. Feels very old stylish and rooms are always nice and comfortable and staff friendly and helpful. I visit Manchester a lot and always my number one choice.

Excellent place to stay if visiting any local places and sporting events nearby... The Italian restaurant at the back if the hotel is fantastic to eat at and the pizzas are fantastic!!!! Although the rooms may not be modern here in this hotel, you still have a good night's sleep, and free parking outside. You don't need anything more. Especially at the prices of this hotel!!!! Will definitely stay again and I definitely highly recommend!!!!

  • miriam harrison

Would not really recommend this hotel. Cars were parked all over drive leading to reception by people who were flying from Manchester. There were at least 9 cars that had side windows and rear windscreens smashed. Great surprise they are going to get on return from holiday. Our room had view of bins which were emptied at 5am one day so early morning wake up. Infestation of wasps so hubby ended up swatting wasps in our room. Yuk

  • Joanna Rigby

Everything seemed disorganised. That said, the spa area was fine, as was the afternoon tea. (Please note that you need to tell them in advance if you are vegetarian, if you can get anyone to answer the phone.) I had read that tea/coffee was free flowing, but had to ask for it and water too. The facial was fab and my skin feels wonderful. The place is a bit "tired" and nothing ran to schedule, but, overall it was a pleasant day.

  • wendie woo

A beautiful hotel cared for loved by staff. Rooms are clean and provide a luggage rack, beverage tray, kettle and hairdryer. Extra blankets and duvets are in the wardrobe. A squeaky bed but comfortable. A weird smell from the linen. We paid 10.25 for a three course buffet meal. Soup was delicious. Chicken beef fish or stuffed peppers were the mains with various vegetables and a selection of desserts. Plenty and very delicious.

  • Abhishek gupta

This place is quite accessible through all modes of transportation. Like if you want to go there by bus then just pic 43 Airport service bus, the bus will drop you very near to hotel . From there you can easily go into the hotel. Obviously taxi is the all weather comfortable choice.

Room was disgusting, bed was extremely uncomfortable and lopsided making it almost impossible to sleep. Whole hotel extremely dated looking. Doors constantly banging. Airport transfer didn't turn up and reception were rolling their eyes when folk complained and asked them to chase it up. A number of people ended up having to arrange their own taxis. At least the couple through the wall were certainly having a great night!

Apart from.one staff member most staff.are rude and not intrested . The room we was in was cheap but brown velvet pillows yak germs the corridors smelt of stale.smoke the room had a constant humming noise from a boiler and sex from.tje residents above. Non there staff offers us any of thier services the one hotel closers to the airport was better how ever They do offer cheap parking and a good shuttle bus service

  • Tricia Scorer

Good hotel, warm and clean, good food BUT we had to stop a cleaner going into our rooms at 7.15am when we went to breakfast and tried to explain to her we hadn't packed and we were checking out at 9am. When we got back she had been in my friends room and changed towels and my friends bathroom stuff was still there, changed bed etc. I complained at reception and filled in a customer card and put in box. Not good.

  • Arron Lowley

Hotel room was clean, however the heat in the room was extremely hot and there weren’t any radiators on, can only describe it as being in the Sahara desert it was that bad. Having to pay for the pool is a bit of a joke if you ask me and the “free” WiFi isn’t free in your room, so pointless really, other than that it was ok I guess

Having stayed here twice now, I can safely say that the hotel is desperately in need of air conditioning. In order to cool down you have to buy water, and it's nearly two pound for a child's size bottle! The second time we stayed was a better experience, as the first time there was an all night rave going on next door. Friendly staff and adequate rooms, but gets far too hot in the summer.

  • Symela Simaioforou

Not satisfied with room at all. We booked for Family room but instead we got small double bedroom. We had to connect two armchairs to make a bed for our son!!! Unfortunately the room was not clean there was dust in every Corner behind the bed. There was no fridge in the room which I found very strange for a Hotel. Breakfast was of very Poor quality. The pizzeria though was incredible!!

  • Natalia Suska

The staff were friendly but the room was very dirty. We have stayed for 3 nights and the cleaning staff have left their cleaning product in the room throughout that time (it was there all along but the surfaces were very dusty for all 3 nights) a lot of cob webs with bugs on the ceiling too. At least the beds were made and bin bags changed. Other than that we have enjoyed our stay x

  • Jack Green

Terrible service. We were ignored by 4 receptionists. The room was unclean. There were pubic hairs in the bed. No mattress or pillow protectors. Stained towels. Unwashed glasses. Mouldy/mildewy bathroom. Chunks taken out of headboard. The walls were scuffed and marked. The mattress itself was uncomfortable and hard. THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO STAY IN.

  • Kyle Mitchell

Scruffy old world pub type, 'grand hotel' circa 1950. Great place if you like to smoke. Whilst there were a small number of people who held higher standards, the average service level is embarrassingly low. The executive suites are okay, great bed, spacious room, but it is 2 to 3 star quality overall. Kind of cheap place that's built on high customer volumes, not repeat business.

  • q q

The grounds of this hotel are quite nice but the hotel itself is vile. I booked a deluxe double but the furniture was all broke, sliding doors hanging off the rails and pubic hair in the bathroom. Clearly has not been cleaned properly in a long time and is in serious need of a refurbishment.

Horribly old hotel. The thick, stained carpets covering the entire hotel has never in its lifetime been cleaned and leaves a musky smell on everything. The rooms are tiny, the blankets are tiny and there was not even a bathroom floor mat. I feels like fresh air has never ever blown through the place. For the money there are plenty of other places that one can get.

  • Izzi

I stayed here on a weekday, the noise at night was so loud and from the room i was staying in the sound of construction work kept me up. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and the television in the room had very bad signal. I could only imagine how loud it would be on weekends. the hotel in general was nice, the room was spacious, clean and the staff were lovely.

  • Theodora Babancu

Very old and dirty for my taste. The carpets in some of the rooms and all corridors are all stained and dirty. They have an immense parking, however, it's incredibly hard to find a parking space. More than half of the cars from the parking do not seem to ever move....they seem to be left there to die. However, the services are quite good and very helpful staff.

  • Michelle Parkin-Kelly

Had a spa day here for three. The building and facilities are a little dated, but the service was outstanding. Staff were friendly and relaxed and we felt really comfortable. The gym is small but well equipped. Changing rooms and showers were clean and bright and the swimming pool is a good temperature. I enjoyed a facial which was one of the best I've had.

  • Tanvir Qavi

Amazing experience the rooms and the bathroom are elegant and spacious I would highly recommend people to come stay here. The bathroom layout is probably the best feature it's luxurious and very spacious with a huge wall mirror inside and the hotel itself has so much to offer from bars to spas its a lovely place to go if you want to relax for the weekend.

  • kelly bowness

No parking spaces, noisy guests running up and down the corridor at 3am.paper thin walls meant we could hear the neighbouring room TV. Guests smoking outside our room and it stunk. Lift not working, no iron or trouser press in room even though we had an executive double. Air con didn't work so red hot all night. Just pleased we didn't pay for breakfast.

  • Jade Lambourne

Hotel in drastic need of renovation. Extremely dated and many things broken or worn in the room. Very noisy and could hear all guests talking and leaving in neighbouring rooms. Would recommend ear plugs if you want a decent sleep. Only plus was it was nice and clean. Bed not the comfiest either, could do with extra pillow and cotton sheets.

  • Alex Boddington

Rooms tiny, stinks of urine and stale cigarettes. Parking flooded. Packaging from bed sheets screwed up and left on the floor by staff. Tiny gym/pool constantly packed. Food absolutely dreadful. Would never stay again, even for the price.

It was OK, you could feel the springs in the bed but slept well, the food was OK, it's a big place and dated, but saying that it was clean and the staff are friendly and helpful, I had a taxi ordered which turned up a little early. Plenty of space in the car park too. don't expect any thrills, it did the job for the night.

  • Helen Williamson

Comfortable but dated. The walls are quite thin so I could hear every word of the argument the family next door had. No shuttle to the airport but an arrangement with a local taxi firm covers that, I think (I didn't use it). Restaurant was basic but the food was plentiful and tasty, just don't expect anything gourmet.

  • Laila Lapse Berga

Friendly staff and cosy room with a modern bathroom. Apparently there were too many people for the shuffle bus so that was a nice suprise when we walked out and taxi was waiting for us. Pick up is just outside the main reception so very convenient, cannot be better than that. Thanks. Would use again. Price was great.

  • Azzurra Ponti

I thought that in this time and age, free WiFi in rooms should be the norm but apparently not in this hotel that looked like it was last redecorated and furnished in the '70s. Apart from this, the room weren't bad, warm and clean. Breakfast should include basic fruit, though, that hasn't been made into a fruit salad.

  • Claire Smith

The room was shabby and dirty the beds were noisy with springs felt through the bedding. I know not the hotels fault but we had kids running up the hallways till 1am we had no sleeps didn't dare think about having a shower or bath was so dirty all in all an awful overnight but the car parks great for airport parking

  • Andrea Dineley

The beds are rock hard. We stayed along with 3 other couples before going to Manchester airport. None of us got a good nights sleep due to the beds. The food was ok ish, but we arrived late so it may be better earlier on in the evening. Bar was good, good service. Location is great and the shuttle bus worked well.

  • Esther Okon

A great place to sleep in. Spacious rooms. Clean up environment. Breakfast display to be rearranged because it looks confusing. No tea pots as it's brought in cold. Leave hot water machine and teabags let customers prepare their own tea. Just a little change to breakfast display would make a great more difference.

  • andy jones

Nice hotel but the bed covers were very thin. And not impressed at all with football supporters they have there making lots of noise through the night which disturbed my sleep and my sons. The hotel security is rubbish there and no respect for other guests. My son and I travelled a long way and needed our sleep!!!

  • Iqbal Bhaiji

I was not too impressed with the room layout. Although we were two of us the towels were for one person. The double bed was smal. The floor was cold and NO floor towels were available. The room we were given was noisy . Was shocked when the smoke alarm went off at midnight. With no apologies from the management.

  • Lisa-Marie Dunstan

Yes it could do with a spruce up, yes there's too many A4 notices across reception, yes the bed was a little hard and the pillows thin. But the staff are friendly enough, the rooms are big, the shower is amazing and they have fried bread at breakfast. Basic but perfectly fine, a great price for the location.

  • forresg500

Food for me was fine salad soup. Main course dessert etc. Buffet breakfast too. Room was comfortable shower good (not good drain ) If you were looking for faults you will find them but i judge things on cash paid customer service and review accordingly and if staff were helpful. Was on David urquhart trip

  • Aaron Milan-Vega

Certain staff members are rude/unpleasant/can't think for themselves. Lots of food wastage by the restaurant. Buffet breakfast finishes at 9.30am which I think is quite early. Rooms are fine but dated and a little unclean. Some silly policies regarding food and pool times. Wouldn't return.

  • theresa holt

Came with a coach trip, It's needs a lot of tlc, carpets were dirty, it was rather cluttered in places, mattress was rock solid, towels were dirty. Our meals were included in the trip and was poor, the tea was tasteless and limited option and the breakfast was really fatty and greasy.

  • Angela Page

Our room was clean. Used it as a stop off before early flight...not the best idea! 21st birthday party within the hotel and fire alarm went off at 12, noisy drunken guests going back to rooms and then having drunken noisy sex! Not the most refreshed before my holiday commenced!
