I'm hoping that when I finally discover which visa I need that it will be a great experience. But trying to ascertain if we need a transit visa or not has been a nightmare especially as the GOV.UK website does not clearly state what is needed. Quoting from their website: "You’ll need a visa to pass through the UK in transit You should apply for a Visitor in Transit visa if you arrive on a flight and will pass through immigration control before you leave the UK. Transiting without a visa You might be eligible for ‘transit without visa’ if: • you arrive and depart by air • have a confirmed onward flight that leaves on the day you arrive or before midnight on the day after you arrive • have the right documents for your destination (eg a visa for that country) One of the following must also apply: • you’re travelling to (or on part of a reasonable journey to) Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA and have a valid visa for that country " Could you define YOU MIGHT I need to know before I apply if I MIGHT or MIGHT NOT be edligible. We will be flying from Cape Town to London Heathrow, changing to Gatwick for our flight to Orlando. We have USA visas and paid accommodation in Orlando. I would really appreciate a reply to what visa I would need

Absolutely terrible. My application was denied. Their reason: I did not supply any of the requested paperwork. However I uploaded everything to their systems and it was okayed and I was then allowed to make my booking. Now I have lost my money for the application and I am unable to contact anyone in this company. No phones or emails are answered

I lost my passport in Cape Town at Christmas time (!) and needed an emergency passport at short notice. The British Consulate were extremely efficient and organised it within a day! Collecting it was easy too and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
