I have been going to Brooklyn Athletic Club for 3 weeks now and really love it. I had been working out in my small apartment's gym and wanted a full-service gym with more barbells and equipment to do more compound lifts. I met with Paul (the head trainer) and asked about personal training. After hearing my goals, Paul suggested I do semi-private training as it was much less expensive and he thought I would get more out of it. I greatly appreciate the fact that Paul consciously thought about how he could save me money while achieving all my goals. I have been going BAC and doing the semi-private training for 3 weeks now and I can only say positive things. I feel very confident in all my heavy lifts, and feel the training I have received is top notch. Particularly, Paul and Bravo are amazing trainers, very encouraging, and make me excited to wake up at 5:30 for a 6am training session. The gym has a very close-knit community feel. All the other clients in the semi-private training are very nice and everyone encourages you. It is also great to see Larry, the owner, there at all times. He will always throw in his own encouragement even if he isn't personally training. Anyone who is serious about getting fit should consider BAC.

I've had the good fortune to be in Brooklyn for the month for work. Casting around for gyms, I found BAC, which has a great 1 month intro package. I thought that it would be dishonest to pay this rate, since I'm gone tomorrow, but after a chat with an employee (who encouraged me to join), I signed up. So here are my reviews: 1) There's something for everyone. I do a mix of yoga and fighting stuff, and I was really impressed with the options. 2) More specifically, I signed up for semi-private bodyweight training (BWT), Pilates, and muay thai. All were excellent. 3) BWT was the big draw for me. The class was awesome, and the coach created great classes. Every class was different, but each one hit on the same basic (but important) muscle groups. If I were a long-term resident, this would be the hook that kept me coming. 4) Muay thai here is perfection. However, it is demanding. Between working, yoga, BWT, and the marathon drinking that a business trip requires, I ended up having to opt out. If you're looking for a serious muay thai studio, Big Bear (which is at BAC) is for you.

Hands down best equipped, professional gym I have ever joined. Personal training is truly unsurpassed. I've joined all the big chains for decades. Equinox, NYHRC, Crunch, World Gym etc. Best kept secret for pro training in NYC. Pro athletes left and right, celebrities, actors, models, all working out discreetly and professionally, side by side. No invasion of privacy ever. I came here because of old training/work injuries and they worked carefully around all my issues. Fast, but precise improvements, and constant, careful attention. My heart rate is continuously monitored and I feel safe and never out of breath, over worked, or strained, yet 900-1000 calories burned every single workout! Truly amazing. Thank you.

Ownership and management are not attuned to what many women need in a gym; to me, they have been unresponsive, dismissive, and patronizing. . Shower doors in women’s locker room have been broken for weeks, despite letting management (front desk) know several times. Treadmill screens have also broken for weeks. No light weights on cardio floor, despite having asked many times. When I asked, I was told to look for something called a weighted disc, which I finally found in a trashed box behind free weight rack, but it’s not at all the same thing. Literally, no desire to help. Classes cancelled regularly without updating online schedules (they tell me I should check Instagram?). Am I expecting too much?

Ample room, plenty of equipment, friendly staff. You never have to fight people for a squat rack here! They have pretty much everything you might want for Oly, powerlifting, and general strength training. They have some really strong air filters too which makes me feel more comfortable working out there in the age of COVID. My only small quibble: the bench press stations upstairs are...the racks pivot a few degrees, rather than being fixed. It really surprised me when I started my bench setup. It doesn't work that well for powerlifters who want to use the rack to pull themselves into an aggressive arch. You can pull an adjustable bench into a power cage instead, it's a bit more work to set up.

The place is ran by family and familiar. (Employee by family or familiar) There is a guy..... My family have swimmed in there lined pools for months And then we have this guy kicked my family out of the lane pool. That we reserve Not to mention (the pool I almost never available. Because it turned green or they have put too much shock In it _to restore alkaline PH and Chloride. Oh by the way shock means (heavily chlorinated water) "Oh yeah we have a swim group coming in" Yes but we have already reserved that lane He said "I know the owner and what I know goes" ILL PAY EXTRA to get what I ORIGINALLY paid for.

Incredible space, amazing community, and supportive trainers. I have been a proud member for over 4 years and it is hands down the best gym experience I have ever had. The facility is fantastic - open floor plan, infrared saunas, and rooftop yoga - but it's the people that make this place so special. Larry and his team are the kindest and most considerate people you will find in this industry and being a part of this community has driven me to completely re-think my relationship with working out (I left crossfit for BAC and never looked back).

Quiet upstairs weight room with great selection, third floor yoga room with gorgeous view of the park and tennis courts at McCarren. Loud main floor with meatheads dropping huge weights, cringe-worthy and makes you worry for their knees. Sadly that main floor shtick seems to be their main draw, and so the flavor of personalities is reflected therein. Cute little sauna in bathroom is nice, when it's working (which is most of the time) and when there aren't others in it. Solid service.

This gym is full on in the best sense. They have classes for a wide range of fitness levels. They have equipment and space for serious lifters and beginner gym goers. As a transgender person I wasn’t sure how comfortable I would be going to this gym. I’ve been coming for a year now and feeling pretty at home and most recently decided to learn how to weight lift with John who is a super good trainer. I highly recommend this gym, its clean and professional which is essential.

This is one of the best gyms in the city hands down. The facilities are new and well maintained, and there's plenty of equipment, but that's not what makes it stand out. What makes this THE gym to join if you're looking is the trainers and group training classes. Whether your goal is to lose weight or get buff or work through an injury the staff and the classes here will make that happen. Join!

I have been going to BAC for a year and a half and LOVE it. Larry, the owner, is so welcoming and has created a space where training is fun and form is valued. The trainers are all awesome and inspiring, and I love in particular to take Circuit classes, which are varied, challenging and never boring. There is a real sense of community here, and I can't imagine going anywhere else.

This is the best gym I have ever been to. Never crowded, can go any time. Tons of squat racks and areas to do functional/hiit workouts. If you are living in Williamsburg skip Equinox, Vital and grind house. You can't beat this place.

Je suis allé m’entraîner dans cette salle de gym aujourd’hui, très bonne salle et très bon accueil, la personne qui m’a accueillit a pris le soins de m’expliquer et de me faire visiter la salle de gym. …

Great gym!! Began going to BAC at the beginning of the year. Clean, spacious, professional staff. I do yoga about once a week and Brandi’s class is amazing! Highly recommend taking yoga with her.

  • Darren Wilson

Best gym in Williamsburg. Two floors, downstairs dedicated to cross-fit so the upstairs gym is really well equipped, spacious and never feels too busy. Great staff and real sense of community.

  • Dan Simon

Three squat racks upstairs with bumper plates and many Olympic style bars. Great place to do your own programming. In general, awesome facility with a great owner who cares about your goals.

  • Teodoro Arana

Great overall was here whenever it opened and just signed up again, but hate the fact that sauna doesnt work properly i wish they fix this. Other than that ok

  • Gabe T

Pools, gym, regular classes and crossfit like classes make this the only gym in Williamsburg that anyone should join.
