We initially contacted Steve at Build & Paint Portland to paint the exterior of our house, but learned that they also could repair our old double-hung windows, very few of which were working correctly. Because we started the process late in the season for painting, they did the window work first (last fall), then did the painting this spring. They did a wonderful job at both. The window work, done by his employee Jesus, actually came in under the estimate. Jesus, who does masterful work, also did some repair work on our front railing. Our house hadn't been painted in about 15 years and was in pretty bad shape, so there was a lot of prep work. Steve worked with us on the timing, getting the prep work done first, then completing the painting during a stretch of good weather. They did a great job and Steve clearly stands behind his company's work. Their pricing was very reasonable for the amount of work that was needed. I would definitely recommend them and wouldn't hesitate to use them for other projects.

We had a great experience with Build & Paint. We got quotes from six companies. The price from Steve Rice with Build & Paint was middle of the road. Some were more, and some were less. We appreciated his comprehensive and detailed quote. Good communication and meticulous painters. Everyone we encountered from the company were very pleasant and responsive to our requests. The only inside painting was to repair a leak in our living room ceiling. I was surprised at the close match to the existing color so that it wasn't necessary to paint the entire ceiling and we can't tell that there was any repair done. They scraped, prepped, and painted our outdoor trim. Also painted the aluminum siding, front porch, security doors, inner front and back doors, an awning, and a couple of hand rails. It looks really nice and we're happy.

We moved to Portland from TN to be near our son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. When the house directly behind them came on the market, we jumped on it. The house needed some "work" to say the least. Our son recommended Build & Paint Portland. Steve and his crew were great. They showed up every day until the job was done. They are true professionals and performed miracles in our very old house (built in 1926) - nothing was square, and the floors were uneven. I 100% recommend this local business! The painters and carpenters are professional and dependable. They did a beautiful job prepping and painting my 130 y/o victorian farmhouse, showing up on time every morning and cleaning every night. They were super thorough with caulking and scraping, and paid great attention to every detail. The owner Steve is easy to work with and actually shows up when he says he will, which isn't always the case here in portland! Also, very reasonable rates. Can't wait to work with them again!

Steve and his crew were great to work with. He gave us a really fair price for a large old house. The previous paint job was old and flaking off, splitting in places, with nearly a century old oil paint beneath several layers of latex. To do it right, you’d have to take it back down to the wood which is ridiculously pricey. Steve worked with us to make the house look excellent despite the challenging conditions. The crew is really friendly and everyone was really nice and helpful. We love our new looking house!

UPDATED 1/2023: We hired Steve and his crew a second time to paint the inside of our condo in NE Portland. They again did a great job, timely, cost efficient and friendly. The condo looks brand new inside, thank you! :-) Steve and his crew were fantastic! The paint job is EXCELLENT, and they did some fixing of popped nails and fixed a warped windowsill as well. The whole process from bidding to finish was excellent. Very professional, they left my house cleaner than it was! Thank you Steve and crew!!!

Steve’s crew did a great job updating the exterior of our 1921 farmhouse, which hadn’t been painted in almost 30 years. They safely encapsulated exposed lead paint, painted the siding and trim, and replaced the gable rakes and decorative braces. The team was professional, communicative, and efficient. We hired Build and Paint Portland to repair cedar shake siding, pressure wash the house, paint where needed (including new siding pieces), and add a protective coating to our deck. The communication was great, everyone was prompt and professional, the price was completely reasonable, and best of all, they did a wonderful job. Couldn't be happier!

I hired Build and paint to do some exterior repair on our historic home with 1906 cedar shingles. Steve's team did a great job matching the siding to make it look seamless from the old shingles.
