My first time to use Bupa Dental and I had a very bad experience. I can’t speak of the other dentists but the dentist I had was really unprofessional. I had a filling last month which was a failure, the pain was getting worse and worse, until I couldn’t sleep at all. I didn’t complain at all and went back to see if I needed a root canal. That dentist then told me the filling was good, and he said maybe it is the problem of my another tooth. Then he offered me options to have antibiotics OR have the root canal OR to see a specialist. I couldn’t wait since the pain is crazy and asked for root canal, then he said my nerve is cursive so the root canal is very difficult( I believe this is quite normal since I wouldn’t have a special nerve to make an unique case in this world). How could you trust a dentist after a filling failure and such a conversation. Very lucky I found another clinic that day to solve the problem- they did an examination to confirm the pain is from the tooth that I had filling at Bupa, and did the root canal after that. I never had that examination from this Bupa dentist and I wonder why he doesn’t offer or maybe he doesn’t have adequate skill at all. I wouldn’t go to Bupa again, and will not recommend to anyone, not just wasting money, the painful experience is unforgettable in my life.

*****UPDATE***** After leaving the review below I was contacted by Lucy from Bupa Dental. She asked me if there was anything she could do to make me feel better about my experience at Bupa Dental Hornsby to which I replied that a refund of the $100 that I was charged on top of the quoted price would work for me. Lucy kindly arranged this for me and I received the $100 Back into my account within a timely manner and the issue was resolved. Thanks Lucy. *****ORIGINAL REVIEW***** Discussed the cost of the service with the dentist Victor Butnejski before he began replacing my filling specifically as I didn't have private health coverage. Cost of replacing the filling was about $160. Along the way he noticed some slight decay and let me know he would have to do some extra work and the total cost would come to about $230. Ok, gotta do what you gotta do. When it came time for payment I was hit with a bill for $333. Have had bigger fillings done at private clinics for less. Told the receptionist that the price didn't reflect what I had discussed in advance with the dentist but that didn't make a difference. I feel that Bupa Dental has ripped me off to the tune of about $100. I paid the money because I felt like I had to but in hindsight I should have refused. Lesson learned I suppose.

Was quoted a price for a filling from Bupa Dental Hornsby and when I did the filling they charged me an extra $100 than quoted!! What an arrogant manager! All dentists and staff at this location are very professional and friendly except that so called manager with bad attitude and unfriendly manors. When I asked why you’ve quoted $398 and charged $496? She said that quote was just a piece of paper comes out from the machine and I still need to pay $496, I had no choice but to pay so I can get the hell out of there. Today will be my last visit to Bupa Dental Hornsby ☹️☹️ It has been now a week since I had that filling done, and you would not believe the pain I am feeling in that tooth!! I’ve never had any pain whatsoever in that tooth prior to that filling was done a week ago. I haven’t been sleeping well from the pain I am getting after this dental treatment, neither I can eat or drink hot or cold on that tooth again. Despite all of that will still not return to that Bupa Dental Hornsby again anytime soon because of that manager. I rather go somewhere else and pay more money than having to see her again. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Not at all happy (02.48am) ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

Nov 2022 - Thank you Dr Shruti & Ash for making the Tooth Filling I received today such an easy and pain free experience. I am impressed with Dr Shruti's knowledge & diligence in identifying this small tooth decay under my gum (& repairing it before it became a big tooth decay). Dr Shruti - You are an excellent dentist. May 2022 - Dr Shruti is a beaut dentist, she makes the effort to explain what she is doing & where I can improve with my dental care. I have just been to see Dr Shruti Saxena at Bupa Dental Hornsby again for my latest dental check up. Dr Shruti goes to the next level of excellent service - I am in my 60's, Dr Shruti noticed from a dental XRay (a while back), that I had sinus blockage, and provided me with a reference should I wish to get this looked at. I had lived with very uncomfortable sinus all my life - after a minor surgery, the problem is now fixed - Thank you Dr Shruti :) My older Review - I have been seeing Dr Shruti Saxena at Bupa Dental Hornsby for many years. Dr Shruti is very friendly and a very good dentist, she takes the time to explain what dental care I need to improve. I highly recommend Dr Shruti and Bupa Dental Hornsby. Thank you Dr Shruti.

Booked in for a check up (no symptoms). Waited over 20 minutes. Dentist tells me I need x-ray's of my whole mouth. I ask if it's possible to look inside my mouth and determine what really needs to be x-ray'd first, rather than x-raying everything automatically (us qualified radiographers must have different guidelines to dentists I guess). He seems annoyed by this and tells me I have "very discoloured teeth". I ask what causes that and he says "drinking too much tea and coffee". I reply I don't drink tea or coffee (not a single cup in my whole life to be exact) and he snaps "well red wine then!" ... I didn't bother to respond that I don't drink red wine either. I then get a painful cleaning before leaving. Fast forward a few months, the copy of my x-rays I obtained for my new dentist were of such poor quality, that they needed to be repeated again anyway (at least she did it free of charge though!). Also I'm still wondering where my tooth discolouration came from? ...especially after my new dentist used one of the whitest/lightest shades for my recent filling... how strange! So thanks but no thanks, won't be back.

Bad experience with these guys, does not give me my benefits as apparently I have used it with my previous provider even though I came across to them in February and have not made claims with my previous provider for the year. I then transferred away from BUPA due to disappointment and unable to make claims for a whole year, but after 2 months they were still charging me, and my new provider says they have not released our cover yet even though they were contacted multiple times, so we were requested to contact them. Went to the store twice, and we were told it will be sorted. Then receive SMS telling me to give them a call to discuss before they are willing to give me the refund. So much hassle just to move away from them, be aware before deciding to join these guys.

Great facility and doctors; however staff at reception isn't great as we went there for me 4yr olds first dental checkup. While booking appointment, as we are Bupa covered, they said it's free for kids. However after the consultation I had to pay $62 as Bupa only covered part of it. I understand this will be based on the cover we got - however they should let the customer know in advance or why in first place they mentioned it's free for kids? Very disappointed. The only reason I went to Bupa Dental was because I was covered by Bupa - but if this was the case I wouldn't have went there, rather would have chosen a better general dental clinic.

We just moved to this side so went to Bupa Dental Hornsby at the Westfield to consider using a dentist there. The woman at the reception did not even look up when she said hello. Then to all our questions, she simply said `I don't know'??? She insisted that if we wanted any info, we'd need to make an appointment with the dentist & become a client. She wouldn't even swipe our Bupa card to check our cover related to our question, which all other dentist have happily done. Extremely bad service from this lazy receptionist who was ready to go home & it wasn't even 4pm yet! BUPA, you need to provide better service at your own centres!

Dr Victor Butnejski is an excellent dentist.He always takes the time to explain all the procedures and provides good and valuable advice. Dr Butnejski is extremely professional, thorough and caring and has taken good care of my teeth and those of my family. He did a fantastic job on my crowns and fillings and I have been very satisfied with them. He also goes the extra mile to make you feel really comfortable. I would highly recommend Dr Butnejski to everyone - he is the best dentist that my family have ever had. Dr Butnejski is an asset to Bupa dental and we are blessed to have found him.

This is the best dentist i have ever been to in my life and trust me i have been to alot, the staff are orginized and friendly, they are always on time, Dr Arash Shahabi is amzing he attention to detail , profesionalism and skills are umbeliviable and he is painless even when haveing crowns , implants and root canels he makes the process so easy and i wouldnt have anyone elese work on my teeth as no ne even come close to him and his highgly trained skills. my new teeth and smole are awsome and i love them , also Bupa dental is very resonable priced also so no issues there.

We see Dr. Shruti Saxena at the HORNSBY clinic. Shruti is an excellent dentist with great workmanship and bedside manner. She is awesome with both children and adults in keeping those nerves calm and explains everything clearly and in detail. All the nurses and reception staff I have come across so far have been excellent in making the entire experience go smoothly each time. Everyone has always given us the time needed to treat us properly, unlike some other practices that want you in and out quickly. I highly recommend Dr. Saxena and the practice in HORNSBY.

I brought my adult daughter into see Dr Shruti as she is well known for her gentle caring approach My daughter is extremely anxious and fearful of dentists and I was concerned when she started to have a toothache Dr Shruti was wonderful , she helped to relax my daughter and reassure her . She explained every detail clearly at the beginning and throughout the treatment . I would recommend Dr Shruti to everyone especially any patients who are anxious We will always use Dr Shruti in the future as she is extremely patient caring and professional

Not good people to do dental procedures ...simple cleaning was painful ...the work was not done in full ..we were told another session is required which again had waiting time . All appointments are offered on weekdays and if asking for weekends slots we were told to wait for 3 months !! ... even for cleaning !!! even after going for cleaning covered in bupa insurance ... by the time you come out for some reasons they give you a gap bill ...which was not discussed before or during the procedure ..have lost faith in this center ..

Always go here for while family. Dr Saxena is the best dentist I’ve ever encountered- and I’ve been to a lot over my lifetime in different countries. She is very thorough and explains everything- works very carefully and puts kids at ease. I fully trust her, so much so that I almost fell asleep during recent complex long appointment to have crown done. They have excellent technology too. I would highly recommend her. All staff were friendly and helpful, including the practice manager, Lucy!

I made it very clear when booking my appointment that I have a dental phobia. This was my first dentist appointment in 6-7 years and I must say; Dr Ara was incredible, so patient, kind and willing to make me comfortable! He explained everything, walked me through all my options and was a pleasure to chat to. Thank you for making what I had anticipated to be a scary experience a very enjoyable one. Safe to say I’ve found myself a new regular dentist!

The best service I have ever experienced in dental healthcare - Dr Victor Butnejski is so compassionate and professional, 11/10 for service from Lesley at reception, 1000/10 from the treatment I received from the Dentist. If you have a dental issue, I would highly suggest booking ASAP as they are booked out for a long time unless it's an emergency. Worth the wait because the level of service and professionalism is the best.

I've gone to see Bupa Dental at Hornsby a few times now and have been impressed by the modern and immaculate facilities, as well as the friendly and professional staff. I was also fortunate enough to be treated by the very competent and handsome Dr White who went above and beyond to give me a new crown and tend to a few minor cavities. Quick and painfree!

My family and I all go to see Dr Shruti at Pupa dental and Dr Shruti is always excellent. She is very professional, thoughtful and gentle with the children. She has always been able to put the kids at ease by explaining everything and making them feel comfortable. Her calming and friendly manner always puts us all at ease and we know we’re in safe hands.

Dr. Shruti Saxena at BUPA dental Hornsby was excellent with our child who rated her as a 5 star dentist! The treatment involved administering anaesthetic through a needle and our child did not feel any pain whatsoever!! Shruti’s technical skills and bedside manner made it a positive experience for the family!

Very professional service on my first visit. Staff were friendly, hygienist was thorough and Dr White was very knowledgeable. I was short on time and was impressed by how efficient they were without making me feel rushed at all. They were even on time! I will be back.

Cleaning / Checkup - very nice service and didn’t rush. Full checkup and good care. It was one of the most pain free cleanup ever since the staff was not rushing. Dr accomodate cleanup visit to do a checkup. Asked for checks on gaps before proceeding with exams.

I've been a member of Bupa for years. I have nothing negative to say. The pricing is excellent for the benefits you receive. I am extremely happy to discover that they offer pet insurance which I am currently in the process of signing up for now.

Based on my experience should only venture there for cleaning (not good in my case), would advise against anything else. Beware that any other type of dental procedure can have permanent implications if not done right / by an experienced dentist.
