/Please note that below comment is NOT related to the quality of CHI staff who are all very nice, helpful and highly professional on all levels - they receive my 5 stars/ We visited CHI emergency department due to a problem with our premature newborn kid. In short, this was a horrible experience and I would not recommend it to anyone and would try to avoid this place as much as possible. If you can pay - go to some private clinic. We waited for 6 hours in the queue/waiting room with a premature kid - in the rooms full of sick, coughing and unwell children. No social distancing and infection control - I saw kids with measles there sitting next to us in same space. When we were finally admitted and triaged to the room to see a specialist we found ourselves in another waiting area, where we spent more time. My kid was not well, wife was in shock and crying all the time after being in such horrible conditions for so long and staying helpless in the medical establishment which is supposed to treat you. This looked like a torture room but definitely NOT like an emergency department of a children's hospital in the capital of Ireland (EU country by the way!). In the end we were seen by the doctor, who did help us and he was a real professional but was also exhausted as they had to run between rooms all the time due to lack of people. Medical system of Ireland, and specifically CHI, are NOT ready for the modern demand and processing volumes, and while the level of staff expertise is great, the establishment is around 300% overloaded, with lack of staff causing all possible issues. I recommend CHI to hire at least 2 times more doctors, nurses and support personal and start measuring their triage speed and set some goals of making that better - sounds like my case of 6+ hours waiting time was very optimistic still after I read other people's comments. I just hope CHI management is reading this and takes this as a constructive feedback that can be actioned, as what I've seen today is much worse than my own country medical system (which is from "3d world country"). If this approach does not change in Ireland people will start considering to leave this country as the quality of service in medical sector is not meeting basic needs of average citizen. If you were born in Ireland you probably think this is a norm, but seeing how other countries do it makes me feel I live in 19th century here unfortunately and this does not make me feel secure here.

Really bad Hospital and very dirty. Some of the staff shouldn't work there. That's children's hospital but seems to be more for animal's. If you choose to be the nurse or doctor you should know how to treat people. Every job is stressful, but if you can't corporate with your stress, then you have to change your job. I was with my daughter nearly one months ago in emergency department. On the door they said only one parent is allowed. Not make sense, because if you go to restaurant everyone is allowed, but in Hospital only one parent, and when I ask why, covid, don't know how long we will listen about covid!! Okay so I was with my 5 month's daughter im my arm's, my changing bag, her food, everything in my arms. No help from staff at all. Waiting time ridiculous, when I have to feed the baby I rang my husband who was waiting in the car to come to help me, because I couldn't manage alone ,mix the food, hold her with all that stuff, and when lady from reception see my husband she was he need leave, only one parent, even when she see the situation, and I ask only for few minutes, but of course who is listening you there. After all that waiting in the end nurse see us, very rude, that all is fine , no need to see the doctor. They didn't check my daughter at all, only pulse, weight Is that important weight? And when I ask few more questions about my worry with her diet and few changing on her skin, she didn't won't even look, she said it's fine and we are discharged. But more important, few days later we got the bill 100e!!!! For what, to see the nurse who check her puls and weight, not seeing the doctor. Why is so hard to see the doctor there, are all off them are so busy to take few minutes to see the patients??? What I paid, 3 minute with nurse 100e and then go home. When I went to toilet to change the baby, it was so smelly and dirty, piss was everywhere. Someone need report that hospital, because this thing's have to change. You have to start treat us like people, not like animals. I am so disappointed and distress , that I am praying for my baby is okay, and I don't need to go to that hospital again. And the other thing it's disappointing, because they will ignore our review . Very sad

We are from the US and were on vacation in July 2022, so the language we use to describe the experience is not likely to be the same used in Ireland. Our daughter became ill and was treated in the emergency department. This was followed by an emergency appendectomy and two night stay on the ward. Her care the entire time was outstanding, from the emergency physician to the surgeon and anesthesiologist. The nursing team was very kind and patient with us and our many questions. Additionally, the care from the staff who delivered food and cleaned the room was better than we could have hoped. Our room was cleaned every few hours throughout the stay. The child life team allowed her to spend an hour in the playroom, playing games and helping her forget she was in a hospital. The men working the security desk were empathetic and kind. The team from the hospital's billing department was especially kind, as we clearly came from a very different health care environment and were clueless as to how to pay for her care (In brief: They made it very easy). There's a cafeteria with very nice people and good food, and a block away you'll find a Spar for your other needs. The hospital building is clearly dated (and being there in July, humidity was a minor issue at times), but the interior was clean and the outcomes we had were superb. No complications, no close calls, no complaints about her care. We have both worked exclusively in health care our adult lives and while we felt very ignorant about care delivery in a country foreign to us, the people at Children's University Hospital treated us very kindly and were very welcoming. If you're from the US and wondering about cost...you'd only be angry to find out for how much less money you can receive outstanding care. Thank you to the many people who cared for our daughter in July 2022. You do important, great work, and while I hope to never meet you again, if I must do so then I will be very relieved to see you.

Terrible experience, it was my second time and definitely the last time at this place which I wouldn't even call it a hospital, this place it's a joke to be honest, my 1year old son had a seizure, high temperature and he couldn't stop crying from the pain , i have been told by a very rude nurse that it might take up to 12 h to see a doctor, I couldn't believe it, I spent there 12 h waiting and waiting to see a doctor and none of the staff care about my son who couldn't stop crying, poor baby was wrecked, he was in pain and I was heartbroken looking at him suffer where I can't do anything to help and there are people around us who have a knowledge and knows what to do , but didn't even bother to help us .while I was waiting to see a doctor I seen other parents waiting 5-6 h to see a doctor and when the doctor finally came in they were out in 5min , the parents were mad for this kind of service, you are waiting from 6-12h to see a doctor and you are out in 5 min . To all the parents out there please avoid this place as much as possible if your baby is not well just bring him or her to Tallaght Hospital were the staff actually care about patients, they are very kind and helpful. After 13 h of waiting we finally have a chance to see a doctor which told me to keep monitoring his temperature and if gets worse then I should bring him back ,I was speechless 13h of waiting just to see a doctor for a few minutes . The other thing is that there is only one person allowed in the waiting room with the baby , which is a nonsense, imagine you are on your own with a baby for a 12 h in very uncomfortable room it is extremely hard to stay calm with crying baby and you need to go to toilet ,you have to bring the baby with you because you won't get any help , from waiting so long the only thing I got was a really bad flu . Person who is in charge of this Hospital should be fired.

Dreadful. Lauren is my granddaughter. She is happy, intelligent, and funny. I attended this horrible place to have her sight checked. There is nothing wrong with her sight and so it eventually turned out. We had a scheduled appointment for 1pm yesterday 8/3/14. She was fine for the first hour. Thereafter she gradually went from restless to impossible as hunger and boredom set in. I had taken some light snacks but they had been all eaten by then. Most of the staff were unconcerned, curt, and unhelpful. My difficulties were obvious for all to see (except for those who would not see). I have heard over the years wonderful things about Temple Street Hospital. There was nothing wonderful about the place yesterday. We were treated with contempt. They lied to me (you will be seen to next), your appointment was for 2pm (it was not, it was for 1pm, written in the appointment letter). There was a numbers queuing system, a good idea, but it was used to call one to a hatch to be given a appointment card. The rest was done by mouth. my position was impossible, walking Lauren around outside to keep her quiet, and trying not to miss her name being called. The nightmare ended at 4pm. Glad to learn that there was nothing wrong with her (we hope, as they do not exactly fill us with confidence.) I myself would sit there all day without complaining, but Lauren is not yet three years old. She has needs. We were in a childrens hospital. We are human beings, not cattle. On the way home from the "hospital" she sobbed herself to sleep and woke up later still in distress. Normally she is a happy upbeat child and never cries. By 7pm she was back to her usual self, and the trauma of Temple Street seemed at last to be in the past. Shame on you Temple Street--and your staff. Gerald Houlihan

Avoid avoid avoid avoid !!!!!!!!!! On 14 April 2021 at 3am I went to these hospital with my wife and daughter because my daughter felt from the bed and injured her right eye very badly we went to the reception and signed up and we have Ben told that just 1 parent is allowed to stay in with a patient due to covid restrictions I told the man from the reception in a nice way if I can stay as well because my wife is 6 months pregnant and she can't lift my 4years old daughter or carry her around and the man from the reception told me that is not possible I went to my car and waited until 7am in my car after 4 hours I went back inside to check on them and they were still in the waiting are and no doctor or nurse have come to check on them I went to the reception and asked why the doctor or nurse didn't check them and they told me that they are very busy after that I went to my car to bring some snacks for them and when I approached my car I saw 3 nurses and a doctor smoking out side I went back to the reception and asked where is the doctor again and the man from the reception told me he's busy with a patient and I told me that the cigarette is not a patient and he told me what do I mean and I told him he is out side smoking with 3 nurses while I am 5 hours waiting for doctor just for a 5 minute check up just so I know that my daughter is OK after that the security man comed and scrimed at me that I need to go out side and when the doctor is aveible he will see my daughter in a very bad reputation I got angry and I told him that he is out side smoking and after that he took my arm and pushed me out from the hospital totally discharge full if u want to come to these hospital then u will waste your time and they will not give u no answer

Traumatising and horrible experience! I went in to the emergency department with my 3 year old as her temperature was 40°C. She was given neurofen and we were sent home and told to come back if the high temperatures persist longer than 3 days. We came back after 4 days as her temperature would go up to 41°C and it was only getting worse. They said its normal when there's a virus and there's nothing they can do. They didn't care that temperature like this can be deadly!! She hasn't eaten in days and there's nothing they could do! I went to an emergency out of gp hours medical clinic the same day we came home from the hospital and straight away we got seen by a doctor and they perscribed antibiotics as her tonsils were so so badly swollen that's what was causing the extreme temperature. In the hospital the different nurses had checked her mouth saying it looks bad but still said there's nothing they can do and to just keep giving her calpol and neurofen after I've told them multiple times they don't help and she's only getting worse and that she's burning up!! The nurses and doctors that we were seen by should be ashamed of themselves! The staff there is so careless its disgusting. If you care for your children don't ever go to the emergency department in this hospital!!! My daughter has been on antibiotics only 1 day and the high temperature is already gone and hasn't come back thankfully. I'm scared to even imagine what may have happened to her if I followed the doctors advise and just let her keep burning up like that!!!!!!

First of all I got no Complain about Health Professionals. They are there really to Help and look after the Children. Friendly professional Doctors. Will explain you everything you want to know. Experience is Bad because of the Long Waiting Time. I have attended this Hospital around 2017 and now 2022...and basically waiting Time hasn't been improved. Had to wait 7+ Hours on both ocassions. Things which I noticed ... There is always a staff who running around and picking up people's rubbish to keep place tidy. I couldn't call this place dirty.Let's be realistic they can't come and wash the floor and seats and everything else if it's packed with people whole the time. They do deep clean once or twice a day when room is empty. When they designate you to specific waiting room it's small and no Air circulation. Outpatients place is better they have at least Air Conditioner. If you ask Staff about waiting Time they will say average 6 hours from time you arrived. As far I understood it doesn't Matter which you are in que.. They Categorise from 1 to 5 severity. So basically more ill kids will go faster. I understand why it takes so Long...and Doctors Cannot be blamed as they Really do their job and look after the people. I Simply think there is not enough Doctors and Nurses. And not enough Doctors in Ireland in General. They all leave to work in US and Canada.Even Australia. And this is Result.. for Ireland Health Care..

I have had to visit temple Street a number times with my kids (out patient and A&E). Overall the experiences have been positive, they have an efficient system that processes patients as quickly as possible and the quality of care and work ethic of the staff appered to me as a lay person second to none (certainly as good as any other country I've lived in - even ones we compare ourselves unfavourably to!). I have only one complaint and for me it's a major one, as with all hospitals in Ireland the staff are not "up front" when informing patients of their condition. Recently on a visit to A&E we were sent home thinking there was nothing wrong, however I learned subsequently that it was just that the required specialist was not on duty and we were called to urgently attend again the following morning on a pretext - again without been given the details. I would just prefer had they said no one was available instead of having to go through an alarming voyage of discovery - piece by piece. That said it's a tough place to work and the staff are doing the best they can, in good cheer, with the resources at their disposal. By way of advice I'd recommend only going there for a genuine emergency as non urgent cases will be given lower priority and you will wait accordingly. Use local clinics instead if possible (swiftcare, rocdoc etc).

My daughter was admitted to Temple Street Children Hospital last week and was transferred from first floor to second floor on 9th December. A nurse rang me and informed me the new ward name and said the security guy would let me in. So once I finished my work I rushed to the hospital at 20:10 and said I was here to see my daughter and provided all the information to the tall security guy. He found my daughter’s name on the list, everything was correct but he still didn’t allow me to go upstairs unless I checked with the reception first. I could see the reception was busy registering patients. I eagerly wanted to see my daughter asap. Finally a nurse called Dearbhla working in my daughter’s ward asked the security to let me in. It’s obviously an awful experience when a worried single mom was treated like a criminal in a hospital. But I have to say all the nurses were very kind and caring. They allowed my mom to accompany my daughter while I was working. They took very good care of my daughter, comforted her when she cried. Really appreciate from the bottom of my heart ! (A&E) Truly shocking. A scandal in the making. Left for hours in a tiny, packed room full of children with obvious respiratory illnesses with no ventilation in the middle of a pandemic. No facilities, no information or updates, dismissive and borderline hostile staff. My child eventually began to get so uncomfortable and hungry waiting I made a decision as a parent that they would be safer away from this farce. I feel for every single parent that has to endure such an ordeal just to get medical attention for their sick child. Upon leaving, I had the courtesy of telling the reception desk that we were going after hours of waiting and still recieved a call hours later that a doctor was finally out looking for us. (Clearly) Valuable time that could have been saved with simple communication between their own staff. All in all, I dont doubt that the staff have a difficult job and come up against awful situations. However, I could have flown my child to a different country and have been seen to in less time than it would have taken here. A sad indictment on a failed health service that we all fund with our hard earned money. Disgusted Michael

Worst ever experience in hispital.i took my 3years old daughter in emergency with very high temperature about 40° to 41°and shivering. I spent 12 hours the they didn't treat her except calpol neurofen which I already been giving ,they didn't allow any bed though many were empty so I been holding her whole night.n 10 times Dr asked me what's the problem.he could not figure out what's wrong with her no blood test no urine test ,n told me take home nothing wrong with her just give her calpol n Neurophen even that time she was crying n shivering.i asked him at least do some test he said ok I will come in five minutes for blood test the horrible doctor went away n after 2 hours his shift was changed around 8am new Dr came ,n straight away after having checked her gave her antibiotics n told me she had tonsils infection.after one hour she was fine n discharged. Dr Bilal was an angle for us that day, thanks Dr Bilal, Well-done. There are doctor on training I thing just playing with our kids lives.i wanted to make a complaint but every one told me it's useless as whole system is like this.....may God keep us n our kids in safe hands.amen

Worst experience ever, I am still so angry and can't quite believe what I experienced. Went to A&E with my 6-month old for really high temperature, he was limp and not really responding, I was beside myself with worry. Was seen by nurse, told I need to see the doctor and then left in a waiting room until I decided to leave after 5 hours (which I now know is nothing compared to other people's waiting times). I told the nurse I need to express to feed my baby, she said no problem we have a pump. When it came to it I asked for the pump and nobody ever came until we left, thank goodness I brought formula. Now my little one slowly got better and I believe the nurse thought he's a low priority case, but just tell people and don't let them wait around for hours and hours with small babies that are only getting agitated and can't sleep with the noise. I never heard from them again, never saw the doctor, never got a call. Absolutely disgraceful. The charge you get in the post afterwards is just the icing on the cake.

Where can one start? We are the opposite of a burden as new parents - to family, pals and docs etc. But when you know in your soul your child aint right - you just know, as we did. Thank you so much Adam Seanna and my apologies for not having all the names to hand. My lil boy is still there with my girlfriend -his utterly incredible Mammy- this 29th June 2017 and we are so happy we decided to be that burden on these beautiful people. Enough said. You are all wonderful - and thanks to your policy of one parent staying - I GET THE HOUSE TO MYSELF! Albeit to clean and make it ready for my fam when you guys let them out as better people before they went in....!!! Please don't show this till we leave just in case my gf reads it and will automatically know it's me. Thanks sincerely guys and see you all tmro. If anyone actually reads this, please don't hesitate to make a wee donation to this, and these wonderful gifted patient and genuinely caring people & hospital. We will. Kev & M & A

This place doesn't even deserve a 1 star, days ago I went there with my baby which is 6 months old, when I was at the reception I said he has been coughing for a week, then I waited there for more than 4 hours until I got tired and I went home, I was told by the receptionist some babies wait 7 hours , I was like are you kidding me ? How a six months baby is allowed to wait that long?, clearly there is no priority for children, like for example at Evelina London hospital where we had an excellent service, was quick and efficient, but this hospital here in Dublin is a joke, I have seen a comment from an American tourist saying that the service was excellent my thought was" *ick*sses, not caring about their own people but helping outsiders, besides that the hospital looks dirty and horrible, not mentioning that only one parent is allowed when the other is freezing outside, the security guy is disgusting that way!!

  • Lynda Edwards

If I could give a minus star I would. Avoid this place like the plague. Was sent here with a doctors note to be left waiting for 7 and a half hours. Started off in waiting room 1, then moved to waiting room 2 before being moved to outpatients in a freezing cold room. None of it made sense the people got seen quicker that arrived after us and everyone that got transferred to outpatients seem to be forgotten about. And don’t think of asking any of the nurses will you be seen soon because they know nothing. The should have a badge saying don’t ask cause I don’t know anything. After waiting all that time I got called went in to see about 5 nurses laughing and joking around a desk another one was looking at her nails. None run off their feet by no means. Absolute disgrace. Who runs this place? Is there a matron. Who gives out tasks etc it’s absolutely shocking and money isn’t the issue here.

  • Noelle Carr

I'm sure if a child is admitted care is excellent. As someone visiting accident and emergency it is diabolical late at night. I was advised to bring my child there from my out of hours useless gp service. The place was dirty overcrowded dirty toilets etc. My child finally got seen by a doctor at 3am waiting 4 hours. After working 12 hours attending to a 4 year old and having a long wait with no tea or coffee facilities for adults to keep the adults awake! !! Very simple..only 2 doctors at night they should have 4 doctors. Toilets were filthy..not good when child had infection below..more cleaners needed..tea and coffee vending machines needed as parents are tired ..vending machines had water cereal bars (more sugar in them than chocolate ) more unhealthy. .the nursing staff are great. Doctors great. But it was run like a third world hospital. Management should be ashamed.

  • Diana Gibney

My 3 year old was brought in an ambulance for not being able to breathe in the middle of the night. We told staff that she was in direct contact with 1 person that tested positive with Covid19 just days before that and her school was closed down because her pers got Covid as well. However, no Covid test was performed. No test for anything at all actually. She was instead diagnosed with croup because that's what the guy who assisted us in the ambulance (who said that's how his child sounded when they had croup) told the nurse when we checked in. 3 days later we brought her in for a Covid test at a test centre and she had COVID19. We infected other 4 people with Covid after that. And god knows how many people they infected after. Please stop rushing people out the door with diagnosis made up by a guy in an ambulance.

Avoid avoid avoid, this hospital should be shut down!! They don’t follow HSE Guidelines, they don’t care at all about any patients, about all the sick children they don’t care. Wait times here are insane, we waited over 12 hours! Never again in my life time will I attend Temple Street Hospital. The HSE have told us they have received 100s of complaints about this hospital already so you know it’s an ongoing issue. They put kids with covid in a waiting room with children and parents who don’t have covid. They have no beds ever they don’t care if your child is unconscious or not breathing it’s not classed as an emergency apparently. We left and attended Tallaght Childrens hospital and we were seen within 10 minutes and seen a doctor within 30-40 minutes. That’s a real hospital with real doctors who actually CARE!

  • DOOLEY

Daughter was blue lighted here to the ICU from Cork University Hospital after Falling ill with sepsis for the 2nd time in 18 months. All staff were brilliant. Very professional, knowledgeable and nothing was too much for them in both ICU and the general ward. Medical care was 2nd to none. Every bit as good, if not better than English NHS. Not only saved her life but they were/are determined to find the cause and are leaving no stone unturned in that goal. Especially want to mention all the nursing staff. They say it is a vocation. Well these folk are the best nurses we’ve experienced and we have been in a fair few hospitals across Britain & Ireland over the last 13 years. They cared for my daughter as though she was their own. Thank you seems inadequate.

  • Life In Dublin

Left without diagnostic, I brought my 6 month old son with high temperature at evening 6pm, The waiting area was full with family's standing at the door, I waited almost 5 hours when I asked the nurse how long have to wait more she replied that not sure, All the kids were very tired and were keep crying, So at 11pm I decided to go home because the nurse wasn't sure and many families were waiting outside the rooms, Thanks God I left because I received a call from the hospital at 3am that where are you? Your turn just came now, They were looking for me after 9 hours with 6 months old, The worst experience ever, I wouldn't recommend this hospital especially the Emergency department Stay a way

  • Ariane Hundt

Fantastic experience, specifically at the Imaging department and ENT department. The technician who performed an X-ray made my son feel so special and at ease. He didn’t want to leave. The waiting rooms are so nicely done for the kids to keep them engaged and happy. We had a wonderful experience the day my son had his adenoids removed. Professor Heffernan and her surgical team were outstanding. They made my son feel at ease, were patient when he was uncomfortable and went above and beyond to make sure he felt good the entire time. The nurses even asked to make sure I was ok after I had to hold him until he went under Anesthesia. Very dedicated staff all around.

  • Ross Carrie

Myself and my partner brought my 5 and a half month old daughter to the emergency department at 5am with her temperatute hitting almost 40 degrees, i was turned away and told to wait outside in the freezing of cold while males with no children in sight were allowed to sit comfortably inside , 10 hour wait time not surprised as half of the building was in complete darkness doctors too busy recovering from their christmas hangovers rather than come in and look after screaming crying children, place should be closed down seeing as they dont have the staff to look after patients.

  • Francesco Sparviero

.. a perfect children Nightmare! also for the parents btw. My newborn daughter of 2 weeks she was diagnostic with kidney infection. She went through an hell in that hospital for nothing because in the end nobody is sure that she was ill and they prescribe us 2 month of antibiotic and this medicine is not for children and it was never licenced for kids under 6 weeks old... I am still waiting a copy for the medical records..and nobody return our calls... stay away if you can..oh btw we went to another hospital and doctors and my daughter do not have any infection

  • July July

IMPORTANT. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS HOSPITAL. It is a hospital with worse care than in the third world. My 15-year-old son had a fever and a stiff neck that we thought could be meningitis and he arrived at 7 in the afternoon and left at 2:30 in the morning without being seen by a doctor. All this time without being able to eat anything and with a fever. You are nothing to them and you are not informed of anything. It is very serious that he does not attend to a lesser person in 6 hours and that he has to leave the hospital.

  • Daria Savchenko

You HAVE to do something with the waiting times! People in this country have no other place to go with their kids. And our kids is everything to all of us. Look, 3-4-5+ hours waiting time is NOT ok. Again we have no alternative, and with small kids waiting time is absolute torture for both kids and their parents. I loved the doctors, and their expertise every time. It's a shame families face things like 1) ridiculous waiting times 2) rude staff like security 3) poor facilities. We all deserve better!

  • Mariel Conti

What else to say here? Just avoid! Doesnt matter if there are 10 people or 1 person ahead of you will be waiting hours and hours. Everything is treated as covid symptoms and you will be left waiting in a freezing cold room for hours before being tested when they probably could run different checks. I really feel for the people working there and for all the poor children in this city. What a shame on this place im surprised people dont go ballistic cause there is nothing worse to see ur child sick.

  • Ana López

I brought my daughter with high temperature and I was seen very quick but I had to keep asking to get my child check. The waiting area is terribly uncomfortable to wait with these metal chairs, tvs off, nothing to help to entertain your child while they wait for hours. Very unpleasant experience. Nurses were great but the place was horribly understaffed. Went home without being seen by a doctor as told the wait would be hours and I had an appoint with my GP the next day so risked going home.

Avoid orthopaedics consultant Dr H.L. here- an x ray suggested for newborn ( should never be done until child is 6 months old) + suggested using pavlik's harness for a healthy child ( she did not know if our child had hip dysplasia or not, but to cover her back). We went to another consultant - no signs of DDH, so our poor child could have been in a cast for 12 weeks for no reason. This doctor also made it look like it was our decision to put the child in a harness. Avoid !

  • Jessica White

Temple street had my daughter fast for 14 hours and had us sit in the day ward on 5he 2nd of December for 7 hours only to tell us her surgery which is an urgent surge was cancelled for the 4th time since September because there was no bed and to top it off another surgery was cancelled to prioritise this this surgery and when I tried to speak to someone about It yesterday I was just sent around to different departments, no one had the dignity and respect to explain

  • Jenna Davison

Fantastic care. Fantastic staff. Fantastic place. Just to be clear. You will have to wait in any A&E department the world over. If your child is deemed sick enough they will be seen as a priority. Before you leave bad reviews think about what you really expect from a health service. You are not the only people in the world who care about your own children but a little less selfishness may be a life lesson for you. Some children do not come out of the hospital.

  • N A

Terrible administration and secretaries- they cannot manage a simplest task of organising consultation + ultrasound on the same day The orthopaedics so called doctor was awful, she could not care less and was completely incompetent The ticket system ?! When you have appointment?! You arrive and wait for hours in the windy, dirty and freezing cold hospital hall with the ticket even though you have appointment letter to see the doctor at certain time

  • Lucy FX Jones

Absolutely fantastic care. Had to bring my little boy in to A&E and everyone from the Security guard, receptionist, triage nurse and Doctor were so lovely and caring. They are so caring twards the kids and make them feel so comfortable. My little lad doesnt let anyone take his temperature in his ear but they were so good with him that he let them each time without screams. Its amazing their so professional. thanks to everyone working so hard.

  • Aisling Flanagan

Huge eye opener, very shocked and disappointed in all aspects of the hospital. We waited 32 hours in A&E. The A& E staff are the best part of the hospital, most caring of all the nurses we met. As for the doctor we met in A& E she was a disgrace and should not be working with children. We spent a week on a ward and I was so disappointed in the care. Very sad and scary time for sick children and their parents in the health care system today.

  • Graham Hannigan

EXTREMELY POOR!!! The foreign guy at the door was so insulting to the highest degree. My wife needed me to get my childs soother which i did and this guy(who would not give me his name) kept harassing me to leave saying " I think I'm better than everyone else" just because I wanted to comfort my sick child. It's stressful enough for parents when your childs sick and don't need this plonker making it worse, he's not fit to be there.

  • Mary Roche

My son ruptured a tendon in his finger recently.. he underwent surgery and after care with the occupational therapist Amy n physiotherapist Zita... I am so greaful for the care he received... the OT and physio were amazing...so kind and caring and so passionate and enthusiastic about their work...Sincerelygreatful for the care and attention he received.. thanks so much to all the amazing staff at CHI Temple Street

  • Kevin

Staff are amazing. We left really impressed and very happy with the care and treatment we received. Our only criticism is there is no parking, you have to park on the street and it's pay and display. Having visited other nearby hospitals I can honestly say this hospital is heads and shoulders above the rest. keep up the good work, I can tell you everyone who walks though the door really really appreciates you all.

  • Paul C

Waiting times are excruciating. Was on St Patrick s day 2018 ,only 3 hours as we arrived there in the morning, but i was there a couple a years ago and I waited more than 7 hours. As we left we saw that the waiting time increased to around 4 hours. However ,this review is based on the quality of staff, they acted so nice, apologetic for the waiting times and fully professional.Thank you for taking care of my son.

  • arun pj

I took my 3 year old son to temple street hospital emergency department as he was having high fever and nausea. I waited till 4AM in the mornging thats over 5 hours and I was asked to wait another 7hrs for seeing a doctor. I returned home informing the nurses to cancel the apponitment. But after 2 days I received a letter to pay 100 euros for the service provided by the hospital. This is very sad and unethical

  • Bejoy Mathew

Hospital is good. Nursing staff and doctors is good. Only issue is they are allowed only one person with child. It is very difficult to manage. This is the bad thing i saw in this hospital. Atleast allowed 2 people with small kids. This type of problem these ireland hospital will come down. One more long waiting 4-6 hrs with my small kid with fever. Government are not responsible for any of this.

  • Carmel Kavanagh

Just spent 24hrs in A&E having my son's complaint thoroughly investigated. The staff were fabulous and dealt with every ailment that came thru the doors efficiently & in a lovely manner. The queue was never ending. They spread the Christmas cheer in festive tunics & even had Carol singers serenade us. Thank you to all the staff in A&E, Temple Street for continuing to provide a wonderful service.

  • Corina Bartkevicius

Worse experience ever! With two months old babie waiting in an empty waiting room for more then two hours! Where are the doctors? How they working? Who is orginising them to work that slow in an emergency ?! This is stupid medical system which should be changed ! Where all the politicians are looking? They first must loook and change!this stupid medical system for one which is more effective...

  • Veronica Lo Monaco

Wait times are extremely long (waited 5.5 hours for my daughter to be checked), and many people leave before they get a diagnosis . Waiting rooms are small and crowded with poor or no ventilation, and parents are left wondering when is going to be their kid's turn. Rooms and spaces are not kids friendly. The doctors and nurses were very nice though. I will try to avoid in the future.

  • Velina Savakova

Every time we have to come to the emergency department is a bad experience. The wait is always always long. Do they even look at their timing stats, seriously? Why can't they hire more doctors? Leaving people to wait for 3+ hours with little children is a complete disrespect to us. Where do my taxes go, I wonder? When we can' t even have a decent healthcare for our children...

  • Patricia Lagowska

We went with our son to hospital today. Couldnt be more happy with service. Everybody sooooo friendly. Waiting wasn't that long at all. And I must mention the gentleman (I think security ) which the from very first minute was super extra help full and very nice. Unfortunately don't know his name but I wish every security person at hospitals was so good as he :-)

  • Ramot Akinyemi

I found myself waiting for 4hours to get checked from doctor with 4 months old baby in hands. And they called that emergency?! The same thing happened to friend of mind. Nurse checked her baby after 25min and then waiting for doctor 5hours. Is this for real ?? I understand parents are nervous and overreacting. But this is not way. I was so so disappointed.

  • Muhammad Bilal Khan

Main children hospital in the city centre close to the bus routes. Staff is very friendly there and doctors and nurses are top notch. They make you feel comfortable and show empathy with you. The only downside is not having a car park on the hospital grounds but being in city centre I guess we have to expect that. Other than that no complaints

  • Michal Masár

As the others already said, and I am very sad that I have to give review like this. Unfortunately really understaffed and overcrowded. Low quality of service, waiting time 8 hours. Serious nightmare. I will not be thinking long before give bad review, some staff will let you wait longer if you complain. Seriously understaffed "emergency".

  • Henda Hamzaoui

I was staying in the hospital for a few days. My baby He is two months old and I was exhausted from the caesarean section and my wound did not heal properly.I was mistreated by the nurse.S Patrick. I haven't slept for four days. I was sitting next to my baby On a chair for four days. No visitors They didn't even give me a piece of toast.

  • Anna Doktor Brozek

I went to Temple Street Hospital yesterday with my son. I have to say that in total took us 3.5hours with xray and consultation. All staff was so friendly and nice. They have great seans of humor and attitude toward the kids. I am highly appreciated for all care we recived yesterday! Excellent team on Saturday day 27th May 2023.

  • Charley Gamble

6+ hours leaving a baby to dehydrate they should be ashamed off themselves long wait times people squeezed into waiting areas like sardines in a can. People waiting on covid tests for kids etc in the same rooms as people with baby’s with no similar symptoms. This hospital should be avoided like the plague never ever ever again

  • Antigona G

Absolutely disaster!!! I brought my 5 weeks old daughter with signs of jaundice and a viral infection. They took blood tests twice from her and after 7 hrs we left with no diagnosis or blood results as they had lost her blood samples.. shocking this doesn't happen even in 3rd world countries. …

  • Yuliia Solovyeva

We had to wait 6 hours with 2 months premature baby with the fever before the doctor came to check us. I am sure the staff is super busy, but please hire more people to take care about the children. The waiting rooms are super small and the kids over there definitely have respiratory diseases. Very stressful experience

  • Alexandru Dobrea

Absolute joke. Waiting times of 7 hours for emergencies are the norm. Children barely being seen by doctors. You must arrive in pieces for them to consider you as an emergency. Not to mention poor facilities, rude staff. Now, imagine this being the only place you can bring your child to, in case of an emergency.

  • Archana Saini

It is just a jock in Emergency Department, come drink fluied nd go back home you are fine. They just have a stretigy of fluied what they give to kids to drink if kid drinking it means he/she is fine nd ready to go home no metter how much sick. Even they pressurise to finish the drink Disappointed with service

  • Alison Boyle

Staff and hospital is amazing! Son went in and was seen to instantly. All the staff are so friendly and caring and so great with children and the parents. A special thanks to pediatric nurse Elaine for her kindness and expertise. I have full faith in Temple Street children's hospital. Thank you.

  • Benjamin Ziepert

Parents of newborns are separated, even though my wife can't carry the baby, and I can't breastfeed the baby (we can't use formula for medical reasons). We asked if this follows HSE guidelines, but the staff told us that they are not an HSE hospital and don't need to follow HSE guidelines.

  • david ryan

My son had fever all day long and we gave to him Nurofen and Calpol but he didn't get better. He was shake his hands, didn't want to eat and drink all day. We arrived here 22:30 and they just give more Calpol and let us wait 5hours and my poor child was burning in fever The worst hospital

  • Carol Romero

Excellent staff, all very kind with the children! And very professional. Hospital provides face mask and gel for the hands are everywhere. Waiting rooms divided and every 2 seats there is a glass separation between them. Very professional nurses and doctors, and very kind and patient

  • Kyla Croasdell

My son was taking into temple street hospital for one night and was put on Gaberials ward. Just wanna say a massive thank you to all the nurses and dr for there hard work and looking after my son. It's an amazing hospital and appreciate all there hard work. Thanks again Kyla

  • Lois Walsh

Just wanted to write a comment on the LOVELY trolley lady going around on the evening shift. I had been there with kids for a couple of hours and she was a pleasure to deal with so friendly. If every hospital had the trolley it would make it a nicer place for children

  • Vera Lucia Santos Cerqueira

Worst hospital ever. First time I need to use a hospital for my son as I don’t bring him to doctors unless is necessary. Waiting over 8 hours I came with my son vomiting and with fever. I waiting still. If it wasn’t an emergency I wouldn’t spend my Sunday like this.

  • Will Bruce

The worst hospital I have ever been to. Overcrowded ,understaffed, staff that don't seem to want to reduce waiting times. Had my 28 month old boy in with a gash that needed stitching. 8 hours to be seen by a doctor. Disgraceful for an apparently civilised country

  • Rafal ADAMCZY

Emergency department is nightmare. Child is crying and they complained I can not settle him. When left hospital agreed to see in one month after 6 weeks doctor and dietician said there is no appointment scheduled. Nightmare. ...and of course big bill arrive.

  • Rahim M.

Waiting hour is crazy. Wish government fund more money in healthcare by building more hospital or something. Disgraceful the waiting time with my sick daughter for more than 9 hour. For F sake! Populations is growing. Build more hospital !!!!

  • / khokhar

wish if there was 0 star option. Took my baby for severe gastro problem. After waiting 4 hours before seen by a doctor then asked to wait to be seen by senior Dr… waited an other 3 hours for nothing but to sent home without seen by senior Dr.

  • Madeleine Burns

My twin grandsons were admitted over new year & I am so grateful for the care & attention they received. Both had viral meningitis & treated immediately & without hesitation, both boys recovering well. Thankyou to all involved in their care.

  • Alan McDermott

Why is Google rating hospitals? Well Temple St looked after my child and kept them alive and back to health even though they have to work within old premises and the restrictions of the HSE. Would use again if my children needed it. ..

  • Vincent Gambin

Spent long time waiting, like any children hospital in any city., but really happy about the good service, the quality of the communication... and the good care. Never fun to go there, but have to write positive feedback!

  • Paula Benito

Medical staff is great but I had a terrible experience with a lady at reception, extremely rude, literally screamed at me when I asked a question, You just can't treat people like that. And the hospital wasn't even busy.

  • Lucinda Beatty

My son unfortunately took unwell when we were down in Dublin for a wee holiday. I was massively impressed with the level of care we received here. The staff are a credit to the hospital, they were all amazing.

  • John Paul Faughnan

Thankfully only ever here with the kids when the had bumps and bruises. Cant complement the staff enough, everyone we dealt with were excellent. Very helpful and we didn't have a long wait at all. Thank You

  • Magie Os

I am so grateful for the attention of my little boy. The staff were fantastic but the nurse was extraordinary she explained me everything and helped me all the time so I felt very confortable. Great work!

  • Orla Mcmahon

This is a lovely hospital, I have been here with some of my children over the years, Emergency room and outpatients and we were always treated very well,, thanks to the wonderful staff and nurses.

  • Karen Lynch

  • Diana Mickute

Worst experience!!! Nobody care about kids in emergency section, always need to wait long hours... What's wrong in this country with medicine system?! If i can leave zero stars I will...

  • Max Stolberg

Emergency care is abysmal with wait times well over 5h for a baby severely dihydrated. No update on times. Don't ever go there to save a drive for a 10min time saving to wait 4h longer.

  • Gerry Scullion

The staff are absolutely incredible. Can't speak of them highly enough. It's the system, the building and the wait times that are the parts of the service that are most under pressure.

  • VCE The SSA

Was here for the first time over the weekend with my ill kid and was really impressed with the services we got. A very nice hospital for kids with some very nice and courteous staff.

  • Rayan Djerroud

i’m very sick and i know i’m only 14 years old but the wait time is ridiculous. i have a very bad chest pain and it took me 4 hours to wait to finally get checked. Disgrace!!

  • sharon gleeson

Went with my 10 year old daughter yesterday and from the receiption ladies to the triage nurse were brilliant and the doctor was an outstanding lady very thorough and caring

  • Fiona O' Brien

Excellent care from all staff in pretty tough conditions. I know the wait can be long, but that's often because people who should go to their GP are blocking up the system!

  • Sanda Dragoi

Thank you to the Doctor Sorcha( like she was introducing herself- with the curly hair like my son ). Thank you for all the hard work and thank you for patience! Sanda

  • John Smith

Best dr's and nurses pity about the building as its very old and outdated , but they care received is top class and we are blessed to have such Dr's and nurses help ❤

  • Dileep Kumar

It's a really really poor system, If any case we have to wait 4 to more than 14 hours,, I done have idea when this country improve the hospital systems.

  • Basia

We visit tempel street hospital a lot with my daughter and all the nurses and doctors are very good and they have a lot of patience …

  • N S

One of the worst, most inhuman places I've stepped in. You will waste hours waiting, you won't get any help and they won't let your partner in

  • Anthony O Sullivan

I discharge my kids twice because of the waiting but its not the doctors or nurses falt they go above and beyond every day under staffed

  • catherine obrien

This is an outstanding hospital.. I was 13 years going here with my son and can't fault the team who dealt with him over that period.

  • Moga Anca

Worst experience ever. We had to wait 4 hours in a&e with a 9 month old with high fever to be finally seen by a doctor! A disgrace!

  • Niamh McCann

If 0 star’s were an option, that’s what it’d be !!! Ridiculous wait times, rude receptionists, EVERYTHING is ‘viral’ what a kip !

  • Damir Zaharija

The hospital is great. The doctors and nurses are probably the best in the country. The only negativity is the long waiting list.

  • Lukasz Wiercioch

8 hours wait with 12 moths sick baby and they told me to wait 3 more hours, only reception works properly in this place.

  • Séverine Lefeuvre

Did not even take my kid medical history, just plucked capol in my kids mouth and expected us to wait 8 hours

  • Frank Connolly

Absolute scandalous set up fir a developer country. Long queues with overcrowding this country disgusts me.

  • vineeth kr

Waiting for 3 and half hours with my child on sunday. Worst experience, stay away from here

  • Virra Tongson

I understand that hospitals are busy but staff could have been kinder esp in E.D

  • Ali Ahmad
