It’s nice to see so many new / recent reviews from Americans about this cafe and in general in Amsterdam lately. During the pandemic, there were very few of here. It’s good to have you all back. With that said, this is a classic brown bar with food on The Prinsengracht in Jordaan. It’s near the Westerkerk which happens to be next to the Anne Frans museum. There is an outdoor area in nicer weather. Tip your server since they have to dodge cyclist and cars on the road to get to your table. I feel it’s a bit touristy but better than most. The food is good and I’d eat or drink here. The prices are a bit more but the service is good and location is excellent.

Pancakes, Fondue en Nachos Out of the Oven With

Went there as a family to meet up with friends who also had a young child (we had 3 under 5s). Not a suitable place for families with young children. However we may have been misled by the name Cafe, as it was more of a bar, with bar food, and bar music. Created a rather hectic atmosphere that seemed to make the toddlers even more grumpy than usual. Ambience possibly more suited to hardened adults. Meatball was however excellent. Very finely minced and soft meat, my 5 & 1 year old scarfed it up, dipping the bread in the gravy. Friends also enjoyed the chickpea pancake. The avocado salmon was comparatively unappealing. Food came in a timely manner and staff were mostly helpful.

Oh, the Poffertjes. I would have a picture of them up here had we not eaten them so fast. This is a beautiful Jordaan spot though you probably can’t go wrong with any of the restaurants in the vicinity. But we were recommended this from several sources (Rick Steves guide, several online reviewers, as many a food tour goes through here) and were not disappointed. Casual environment with deliberate but great service and awesome food. The Poffertjes were among the best we had in Holland, and our waiter was just so kind - a delightful afternoon experience.

Vandaag weer eens een biertje gedaan. De Prins het laatst bezocht rond 1990. Sinds die tijd is er eigenlijk geen spat aan veranderd, ik meende ook muziek te horen ‘van vroeger’. Dus, qua authenticiteit: dit is hoe het vroeger was en wij vonden dat een feest van herkenning. Losjes, misschien rammelt het hier en daar maar oké. Wij kijken daar doorheen en kicken minder op de cafés van de huidige tijd waar de muziek vaak een storende invloed heeft en eigen karakter ontbreekt. De jongens die aan het werk waren deden het prima. Tot ……

Waardeloze tent. De plek is mooi en de grootte van het cafe is heus wel goed, maar helaas gaan er een aantal dingen mis. 1. Het duurt erg lang voordat je een nieuw biertje aangeboden krijgt. 2. Ik vind het jammer dat het logo van het glas niet naar je toe wordt gezet. 3. We vroegen of we aan de bar mochten zitten, dit mocht van de ene medewer wel en later niet meer van een andere ookal stonden er 2 barkrukken klaar. Even later mocht iemand er toch zitten. Dit vind ik raar. Jammer. Gemiste kans om een mooie bar te zijn.

I had a nice quaint experience here. My brother and I just ordered a coffee and hot chocolate and just relaxed there. I looked at their menu and they had a good number of varieties in food that we didn’t order. The servers were kind and attentive. There was plenty of seating that was comfortable. We ended up going here when other cafe’s were busy and we were not disappointed at all. Good comfy cafe any person would like.

Beautiful outside seating, both right outside the restaurant and also across the street by canal and bridge. Breakfast food was fine but not a lot of flavor. Sever not too attentive and forgot some things, then didn't come back to our area for quite a while.

Heftige badkamer-akoestiek (je moet schreeuwen om je tafelgenoot te verstaan). Aardig personeel en heerlijke kaasfondue. We kozen een pannetje elk van de twee soorten kaasfondue, de een klassiek en wat scherp met aardig wat wijn, de andere van blauwe kaas was heel zacht en makkelijk van smaak. Allebei erg lekker.

Lovely experience at Cafe De Prins. Came at 6pm for a casual dinner snack and had the bitterballen, old Dutch cheese, and a couple of beers. Delish and great value. Sat outside amongst the good vibes. Staff made great drinks recommendations and brought out the food fresh and quick. Thanks guys!

Dude this bar is legit. In a city with endless canal bars that seemingly seem of the same level, take a step inside to see this one for yourself. I came in already buzzed and the bartenders were ready to buzz back, we had some laughs, I ordered some margaritas, and boy lemme tell ya, those are some of the best margaritas I've ever had! Thank you!

Bitterballen weren’t super hot as sometimes may happen so it is a good point. Spritz also nicely done. The location is amazing, in middle of Prinsengracht. Staff is very kind. Prices are actually lower than average in center Amsterdam. Recommended

Found this place by accident. Absolutely loved it, I never write reviews so that’s saying something. Seat yourself, and someone comes up relatively quickly. Our food (pea soup and bitterballen) was out within 10 minutes, and drinks were out sooner. All the food was delicious and large portions too. Our favorite restaurant in Amsterdam.

Cafe was cute and quaint. The two eggs with mushroom, bacon and cheese was quite a savory treat that was unexpectedly delicious. Perhaps it was the cheese - but I never though a simple egg breakfast could be so good. The perfect balance of salty. The dog was a customer’s pet and added to the overall neighborhood-laid back vibe.

Perfect atmosphere: a little, cozy with great seating outside along the canal for those sunny days. The crew was great and somehow managed a ton of customers sitting outside

This cafe was recommended to us by our tour guide to find good Dutch food with regular locals. It was pretty good. We ordered the bitterballen, tomato soup, and cheese fondue. Everything came out perfectly cooked. The service wasn’t super attentive, so don’t go here for that. Go here for the food.

Dined here yesterday (4/18) for dinner. I had the chicken satay and it was quite good. The server, she was very helpful and friendly

Really nice place, shame about the service from the very short haired girl with big hoops. If you want someone to move out of your way maybe ask politely instead of insinuating that I have eyes at the back of my head.

Nice place to have a tasty beer. We chose Van Vollenhoven IPA which had very nice taste and smell. Cafe itself is atmospheric which was extra attractive for us as tourists. I recommend it for a visit.

Classic brown cafe in the heart of the district. The mint tea was warming and fresh and the mini pancakes (Poffertjes) were fluffy and delicious. Recommend to also order the mulled wine!

Geweldig bruin café dat al 50 jaar of langer dezelfde warme sfeer uitstraalt. Kwam er als 19 jarige heel vaak en tegenwoordig zo nu en dan. Echt top.

I love this café. I would go here every day. I have sat and studied, I’ve taken friends here for dinner, it’s really one of my favorite places, I just wish it was closer to my house.

I have been here a few times and it’s always great to come back! A really nice, down to earth restaurant with great bitterballen and cheese plate. The staff is nice and friendly.

Le Prins is one of my favourite little bars to visit in Amsterdam. Friendly staff in a traditional location, the food is also quite good. Relaxed with good prices.
