Our service was gracious and kind but most of all expedient. Located within walking distance of the Downtown Dallas Hyatt Reunion Conference Center; even in the Texas heat. The atmosphere is one of sophistication and class with a little above average pricing, but worth the customer service and satisfying portions provided in the meals. When we arrived, we were greeted at the entrance with an inviting smile and seated immediately followed by the bottomless basket of freshly made tortilla chips and salsa. There were six of us connecting over our brief conference break that was also limited by the minimal time of walking there and back, but caused an urgency in our service. Without even requesting the timely service, the anticipated service was impressive. Our drinks arrived almost at the same time our chips and salsa did, and our orders were taken one by one with attentive focus by our server, water was refreshed without hesitation or interruption to the flow of our table conversation. Even with the extremely satisfied service most of us still had to take our leftovers or unable to eat due to our time frame and intense conversations. I was thankful for the chips and salsa that held me over until our next break where we were able to enjoy the authentic fresh ingredients blended together for each of our unfinished dishes. The flavor was one of passion and inspiration that the cook must have added to make the savory flavors not just pleasant to the pallet, but filling to the spirit as well. I will definitely visit this place again without rush or urgency to embrace the full experience this Cafe has to offer. I was so rushed, I didn't even get any photos to share.... Guess I'll just HAVE to go back

The place looked nice, was clean, and seemed to have an upbeat feel from the outside looking in. Sadly, there was nothing special about the food. We had fajitas and nachos locos... For $12 we got 6 individual nachos on a plate, and it was $18 for the fajitas, which was a more-filling portion. And while it looked amazing and was presented nicely on the plate, it was just kinda salty, and otherwise unnoteworthy. The service was particularly disappointing. When tortillas we're not brought out with the fajitas, I walked up near the kitchen to flag someone down, as I had no success from my table.. every single member of the wait staff avoided eye contact with me as they came up to the computer next to me and put in their orders, chatting with each other, and grabbing plates coming out from the kitchen... a few minutes passed before a manager saw me there and asked if I needed help. We sat in a booth around the corner near the back, and found the table to be awkwardly high. I'm 6' tall, and the table was at mid-chest height. Almost to my shoulders. The positive note is that it was close to the convention center, but visitors to Texas should know that this is not a good example of the incredible Tex-Mex to be found in the state.
We were seated immediately by Mariyah on the patio. It was our preference it was too cold inside. Plus it was a beautiful afternoon! Being that we were eating outside we had to order from the bar. Terra was the bartender for the day she was amazing. Our food literally took about fifteen minutes from the time we ordered to the time it reached the table. Our drink orders was being replenished without hesitation. Didn't catch the man name who took care of our table with such a great demeanor, attentive and great customer service. I'm very sorry I missed his name tag. Now back to lunch... my sister Ann and I ordered the Lemon Ave 75 it came with two enchiladas beef/cheese, rice and bean...and a bonus deep fried ! That was the best taco ever!!! Mariyah had some down time and gave us a tour of the remaining restaurants and hotel that is operated by The Omni hotel. I haven't lived in Texas in over thirty years and everything changed for the better. We parked on a meter for $2.00 You can get free parking for up to four hours free at Cafe Herrera restaurant. Now my next visit will be at the sports bar inside the hotels there's over 70 TV in there. That sounds like a good place to be for a game.
The short story: This place just opened less than a month ago and there are some growing pains in terms of speed and menu comprehension. But, the price is right for the quality and location. A solid choice for right next to a convention center and a hotel like Omni. I'd go back again. A bit longer: We did end up waiting a solid hour for our food, but I didn't really notice the time because the margaritas were appropriately strong and the chips and salsa never stopped (three kinds of salsa, everyone at the table had their favorite). The waiter was attentive, as well as several other staff members, and we did get a serving of guacamole for our patience. They seemed aware of their kitchen kinks and I have no doubt they'll work them out sooner than later. Food was good, hitting that nice spot of taste buds, wallet, and expectations aligning. I've had worse Mexican for more money in similar neighborhoods, so Herrera's gets points for a solid value in a prime location. The space is new, well designed, clean and has great windows and outdoor seating.
In town for a volleyball tournament. Went to this location with a group of 5. We asked to be seated on the patio and were told by the hostess that there was no service on the patio. She told us they didn’t have enough servers. This conversation went on while the hostess, an older African-American female, was eating something out of a bag sitting in front of her. Right after we were seated, the group behind us, another same size group was seated on the patio and served. Throughout our meal, several more groups were seated on the patio and served. The hostess then seated us. Most of the food was small portions and mediocre at best. I opted for the fajita buffet, advertised for $19.00. Everything in the chafing trays was cold or barely lukewarm. The tortillas were cold and hard. Our waitress was the only thing that was “just ok” about the whole experience. If you’re in the area, I don’t recommend this place.
We visited the restaurant for our 7 pm reservation at 6:45 and was turned away and told that they could not seat us and they were not servicing anyone right now. I told them I made our reservation over a month ago and the man was was rude and had an attitude when speaking to me. Never said he was sorry or apologized but said “everyone wants to eat here but you can walk 5 minutes down the street to go eat”. If we wanted to go to whatever that place was we would have made a reservation there but we did not. We should have been called or emailed about our reservation to at least let us know they were going to cancel us so we could make other plans - just common courtesy. We will never come back to this restaurant. HORRIBLE customer service and very rude and not apologetic. We will also make sure everyone we know that stays downtown near this restaurant will not go to this establishment.
It can get a little busy at times but the hostess sat us right away and got us started off with chips and salsa with drinks while we waited for our server who had a big party, so we appreciated that. The food tasted pretty good and was super hot and fresh when we got it, the fajitas stayed sizzling on the skillet which was nice!!! The drinks are stronger than normal so you might need to let the bartender know to tone down the taste, but which our bartender was super accommodating and friendly. The kitchen is open for people to watch the cooks as they make the food and the kitchen was very clean. Overall we had a good experience and it was within walking distance across the street from the Omni Hotel.

This place should be ashamed of itself and how it functions is horrible. First off, be careful before paying for a drink because they don’t list the drinks in the menu and the cost of a drink is $4, way too pricey. Then after we ordered it took an hour and a half to get our food. Even though there was 6 of us it shouldn’t have took that long. So then, after we ate the bill was way more than it should have been, with them adding 20% tip as a service charge. How do they have the audacity to put 20% on the tip when the order took a hour and a half to get our table. The food wasn’t that great either. This place should be shut down or should lose all of their business for how horrible they treated their customers. So in my final words on this post, don’t ever eat here if you go to Dallas!
Visited last week with coworkers. This was my 2nd or 3rd time here, but I hadnt been in over a year. After visiting, I now remember why I hadn't returned. I will say, as far as food, it was probably the best fajita nachos I've had. However, the service was SUPER SLOW. Mind you we were the first guests there for lunch, and it was well after 11. There were 3 of us, and nobody ordered anything fancy. Yet we waited more than 30-40 minutes for our food. The place stayed empty our entire meal save for two more tables of two. Yet our service remained very slow. I now see why their business is so slow. It was ridiculous. Food is pretty good, but not worth the price you pay especially in time. May do better ordering to go well before you get there.
If you love Mexican food you have to try this place. The prep of the food is unique and it's something you will want to experience. I'm not a huge rice fan and it is usually the one thing I leave on my plate but, their rice was out of this world!! This often neglected side was carefully plated and full of flavor that at one point during the meal I said, "I want to marry this rice!" The chips and salsa were excellent, with fresh hot chips brought in a steady flow and the wait staff was pleasant and attentive. We will be downtown again next month and we will be stopping in to eat there again! Can't wait! I might actually pick up my plate and lick it clean this time!
Shalanda gave great service !!! Very pleasant individual. The wait to be seated was a little unorganized. We were told a 5-10 minute wait and ended up waiting about 25 minutes. Did not like that there was water and chips on table before being seated. They have indoor, bar, and outdoor seating. The quality of food was decent. The mixture that was on top of my carne asada did not look very appetizing. They do not have black beans which was slightly disappointing.

Very good food and right next to the convention center so it is a welcome change from the vendors there. See ice was a little shaky at first but it was early in the day. The service got much better throughout the meal. The food is exactly what you expect for more upscale Tex-Mex. The portion size is a little smaller than you typically get in those restaurants, but was acceptable. The tortillas are very good, but again on the small side. Do get the queso with your chips, it was amazing.

Immediately knew what we wanted, was so hungry stomach hurt, no chips, no server for an hour. Restaurant was only a quarter full. Waiters were standing around chatting while customers were getting angry. Had to get up to ask for water, for chips, for silverware, and three separate times for the check. Food was awful salty, pretty much tasted worse than taco bell. Never saw the waiter again, was there for 3 hours to get a quick bite. I would give it negative number if I could. I would not come eat here even for free. I'd rather eat straight white bread rather than this terrible experience.
Are here after the robotics conference. There was no wait staff available so everyone had to order at the bar, grab your drinks, and find a seat. The bar staff was killing it getting everyone’s orders and the bartender was a machine. The photo reviews for carne asada looked good even though it looked like fajitas so that’s what I ordered. I did not get what was in the photos, as they are in fact fajitas. However, the carne asada was not bad.

Ok y'all. Look at my last name lol lemme tell you this food is BAD. You get better food at a Gringos for less. Salsa is cold. Flour Tortillas are bought and not made. Corn tortillas are pretty good. Carne asada is mediocre. Nopales are disgusting. Service was very good and the atmosphere was very nice and that is perhaps the only saving grace. The hotel has better places. You should look to skip on this one you're not missing anything.

This is an inside restaurant and Texas has skyrocketed in temperature, why can’t I enjoy my food in working A/C? I’m overlooking all the employees using menus as fans, dripping sweat this can’t even be sanitary. Had to get to go plates after a couple of bites due to my husbands complaints about the A/C issue. Giving two stars only because the customer service was great, just extremely too hot.

Great service, awful food. And as someone who steers away from writing negative reviews, please know, this is the absolute worst Tex-Mex I have had in a very long time. Chips and queso is my favorite part of Tex-Mex and it was the equivalent of ballpark nachos. The tortilla soup was thick and tasted like a beef chili, and the fajitas were flavorless. My meal was the equivalent of bad cafeteria food.

Most of the food was good. Some of the chicken in a chimichanga had bones in it. Service was terrible. It took forever to get seated (over an hour and we were one of the first groups to arrive at lunch), took about 15 minutes to get water. We had actually eaten all of our chips and salsa before we even got waters. We talked to the manager who was less than eager to make our experience better. After talking in circles with her she eventually comped our appetizers. We were also very displeased by the service charge.
I went for lunch with a large group during a very busy conference. They accepted a reservation and had no problem with giving us seperate checks. We arrived before the rush and they got slammed with a line out the door. The food was incredibly flavorful. I ordered the pozole verde and it had deep flavor but I was disappointed with how little hominy and pork the soup contained. However, the cabbage was nice and crunchy. My colleagues enjoyed their combo meals quite a bit. Prices are good. Nice bright atmosphere.
My friend and I walked over from the Omni and were quickly seated. Our waitress recommended a great cocktail which was pretty tasty. I ordered a mix order of fajitas which were delicious. My friend enjoyed her meal and said it was one of the better versions of that food. We also ordered some frozen strawberry margaritas. We ordered some sopapillas which came with some cinnamon ice cream for dessert which were great Our waitress was great and the atmosphere was very nice. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Staying at the Omni, we thought the service and food couldn’t be bad. Well we were wrong..... asked for a drink menu, our waiter never returned. Asked for a clean fork that didn’t have dried sour cream on it.. he never returned. Water was never refilled and the Food was mediocre at best, but service was horrible. The restaurant was only at half capacity, yet there was very little concern for our experience. There was not a kids menu, he told us maybe they can just get something from the appetizer menu.
We were visiting from Florida for a conference and had such a PHENOMENAL experience on our first night, that we came back! The manager went above and beyond on our first visit, to correct something and brought us out dessert that we loved so much that we left the restaurant we had dinner at 2 nights later to go back to Cafe Herrera for dessert. The manager remembered us and was such a pleasure to interact with. He displayed such genuine customer service that the whole group was raving about him!
Experience here was just ok. The restaurant was very warm which was not comfortable. I think they were short on staff as service was very slow. Food was good but not great. Chicken enchiladas were good but cabbage salad was not great so would advise to get the rice and beans instead. Probably with another try.

Excellent food. Went in with a large group and found seating quickly. Our server was great. He was able to keep track of us all. The food was excellent and only mildly spicy for Mexican food. Your portion was large and fresh. Had the churros for desert. They were excellent with an ice cream, which made for a nice combination. The reason it was not rated 5 stars is the atmosphere was noisy and not very well lit. In spite of these issues I would eat there again if given the chance.
The best chicken nachos I've had in a very long time. Chicken was shredded and juicy, flavorful with melted cheese. They come as individual nachos rather than a pile with guacamole, sour cream, jalapeños, and pico in the center. I opted out the guacamole, sour cream, and jalapeños. 10/10

We went here on a working lunch to eat and work. We sat outside on the patio which is very relaxing and spacious area. The servers were very attentive and it didn't take long to get our food. I always forget to take pictures because I start eating before I can remember. Lol! Anywho the food was delicious. The wifi didn't reach outside so that was the only disappointing thing about the restaurant. We were unable to work. Other than that everything was great. Thank you.
Phenomenal service, phenomenal food. I was only here for the weekend. Did not expect to have this level of awesome right across the street from the hotel. The manager Rickea was by far what set it above and beyond. Her knowledge and passion for the restaurant made me realize why the food was so good. I would ask for her if you go by.

Walked in and was greeted with smiles. Sat at the bar top which the bartender had a very outgoing personality that made what I'm about to say with ease. Ordered the La Vaquero tacos w/rice and let me just explain that my first expectation was low for the meal but this was absolutely delicious. Brisket wasn't dried or bland. Rice didn't have alot veggies in it like most restaurants which I like. It was moist and the best restaurant made rice thus far.
We waited 1 hour to try and place order at the bar. They couldn’t even take our order from the patio, then they wouldn’t help us at the bar. I had an anemic child with me & she has to eat protein so could have been bad, but I ordered Uncle Julios & they came for the second night in a row after 30 minutes, and their food is exceptional! Please don’t forget your in-house customers/ Omni guests, because the guy that delivered for me got an amazing tip!
We went when they were not busy at all and it took about 45 minutes to get our meals. I ordered the fish taco's and as they were good, I have had much better. Maybe they would have tasted better when I was hungry instead, because of th long wait, we all probably ate to much chips and salsa. As they did an ok job refilling the chips and salsa, drinks were another story. At one point everyone at the table needed a refill. Definitely a disappointment!
This place has killer good Mexican food. It was pretty packed when we went there around 6. It was worth the wait though. They give you chips and salsa which are pretty good and keep bringing them out during the meal. I got the shrimp enchiladas with salsa verde and chipotle sauce. They tasted awesome and had a bit of a kick. The meal was a little small so of you're hungry order the fajitas. Those were also very good. Overall a good experience.
So good, we came back the very next day! Shalanda gave amazing service!! She even remembered our drinks. Sorry about the partially eaten verde enchiladas photo... they were so good I forgot halfway through to snap a pic

We were staying at the Omni Hotel and happy to find restaurants just across the street. If I could leave a negative five star I would. This is the most disgusting place and should be shut down. The ice tea was so watered down that it should not even be considered tea. The con casa dip was also watered down. I don't know about anything else as we found it so disgusted that we left. Avoid this place at all cost

Food is great!!! But the set up is awful, not efficient AT ALL!!! You order food and drinks at the bar, but instead of the drink ticket going to a bartender to make the drink (like the food ticket goes to the kitchen for the cooks to make) the person taking the food order is actually the bartender! So waiting in line over an hour because the order taker has to stop to make drinks. ♀️. Not efficient at all.
I didn’t enjoy the tacos here so much but im giving a 5star because of the amazing customer service. The salsa was delicious though! My server was Ryan, he made me feel very comfortable and he answered all my questions accordingly. He made my experience worth coming back to try a different meal.

Went on Superbowl Sunday, was not disappointed. The service was fantastic. Guacamole was deadly, same with the salsa. I could have and should have made a meal out of that, however, the scents in the restaurant were speaking to me, so I went for fajitas. Out of this world! 10 out of 10, I would eat there again and if ridiculously hungry, eat the fajitas. Wonderful meal and service.
The food is horrible here !! I would never recommend that anyone eats here ever again! I dont understand how this restaurant is in business! The night my party and I ate here, it was 2 other tables in the restaurant that were occupied, with 2 guests to each table, it took the restaurant a hour and a half to bring out our food! I was so disappointed with the food!

Came in for a conference and was waiting quietly at the entrance before they opened. There were several others also waiting quietly. The host was extremely rude and said we needed to wait outside. Not a big deal to have to wait outside, but he was extremely rude about it. The food might be great, but I won’t know because the host was mean.
If you’re in the downtown area and are craving Mexican food I highly recommend this place. It sits in front of the Omni hotel near the convention center. The drinks were made to perfection, and the food was so good it made me forget to take a picture before devouring it all. I highly recommend this upscale Mexican restaurant.
I loved this place! Really good chips and salsa that arrived quickly after I sat down. I recommend the piña Rita if you are looking for an alcoholic beverage. I ordered the La Diabla shrimp dish which had a lot of sauce but was very tasty. My only critique is that I don't like when restaurants leave the tails of shrimp on.

Delicious, authentic, upscale, family-run Mexican restaurant originally founded 48 years ago. Family still works in the restaurant and they are super friendly. Food is absolutely fresh and delicious. Best tacos al pastor I've been had. Bright, open, clean and well-organized kitchen. Nice bar area.

We waited an hour and a half to be seated. Waited another hour for our food. (we should have just left) Granted it was busy due to a conference in town, but they were not equipped to handle that many people. The waiter was great though. The people I was with said the food wasn't that great.
Staff was great friendly and informative. Visiting from Austin for volleyball tournament. The menu was changed to accommodate large crowds too limited for me. The drinks were good especially their signature margarita. Food was overpriced but convenient to walk to from Convention Center.
Beef fajitas were quite good The salsa was different but good the tomatillo salsa was cool and very good. The fajita meat was probably the most tender I've had. Food did need a touch of salt and you will need to ask for salt if desired. All in all not a bad choice for quick 8pm dinner.
Food is good. Service sucks. Took 20 minutes for an order with 2/3's tables empty. Been 30 minutes and no ones asked me about the food. Ordered a margarita that had more tequila than a José Cuervo bottle....its getting sent back if anyone every shows up to give me the check.
Great good (there were several solid options for vegetarians) but a very meat centric menu. Their chips and especially the salsa, was so good! I also ordered a frozen margarita which was tasty. They have 4 different kinds of frozen drinks. Overall, a good find in Dallas!

We went during a conference with a party of 7. They were full but made room for us still. They were so nice and very accommodating! The food was made right in front of us and came out very hot! Any requests we had they took care of.

"I liked that restaurant and that was yummy," said my niece. She had the pulled chicken quesadilla. I enjoyed the kale salad with grilled shrimp. Service was a tad slow, but they were pretty busy. Been before - good that time too.
Food was decent, waitress and service was not. Waitress rolled her eyes when our party of 4 asked for separate tickets. Then we had to wait 20 more minutes before she brought the ticket. Will not be back.

The staff was absolutely amazing! The salsa for the tacos exceeded my expectations and the tortillas and rice tasted homemade. There is a good drink selection and the atmosphere was great! Will definitely be returning soon
The staff are excellent!! Seated quickly, drinks came out fast and the food was so good and plentiful!!! Prices weren't too high so it was a great visit all around!!

Food was blah, not sure why refried beans appear as an orange color ♀️? I believe the prices are set bc of its location, they get no bragging rights from me. The bartender was great & so was the female Mgr. …
Food was really good. I should’ve took a picture; but I ate it before I knew it. I had the Verde/chicken and it was seasoned to perfection. Delicious!

Ordered my meal to go-it came out on a plate, 1/4 chicken was raw-comped me a churro. Food taste and quality not what you would think for Tex-mex.

Food was very good, sat outside and enjoyed the mild weather. I had the quesadilla & the Verde enchiladas, both were very good. The food came out quickly and overall a good was a good experience.
Came here in a group. The food was good. Couldn't enjoy much because of the group.

Quick service! Tasty food. I had the Enchilades Verde with a Dos Equis. Chips and salsa were complimentary. Just enough spice... the red sauce was a little tobasco-like but still tasty.
Great food fast service definitely will come back .

A big thank you to Brian the general manager for getting us a table so fast. We waited in line at the Omni Hotel to check in for over 2 hrs. The food and the people are amazing.
We ate here for the HOSA ILC. I loved the food here and it tasted better than other Tex-Mex places.

Food was really good, queso and salsa yummy. Took a while to get noticed as a new table on the patio, and had to go inside for water. Soon our waitress took good care of us.
Below average Mexican food and super slow drinks. Best thing about the place it’s a proximity to the convention center so it’s a good diversion at a volleyball tournament.
This is a nice stop for appetizers or a quality Mexican meal. The service was good, as was the food. The margaritas are awesome!

Good service & tasty veggie enchiladas with salsa verde, salad and beans. Loved the chips and salsa.
The food was really great and quick. Very convenient location and nice staff. Happy we picked here.
Sopapillas Chiquitas are browned to perfection and served with the purest, cremiest ice possible.
Over priced for the taste and amount of food provided. Tastes like very American Mexican food.
The food was subpar but the service was great.
