100000/10 I booked the cinema room in the back as a surprise for my partners 30th (9/12/23) birthday, there was a bit of a miscommunication on dates, I wanted Saturday 9th of Dec but staff thought I asked for September 9th and obviously booking out a whole room at Xmas time isnt the best; but Abbie was an absolute pro, she shuffled things around and got me booked in on the Sunday as a compromise. Abbie was so helpful, lovely and just a bloomim super star, I anxious emailed to clarify things and she just was so sweet The day went so smooth thanks to Lili, Abbie, Saff, Samya and Amelia- they couldn't have been more lovely and helpful, all the folks attending just thought they were the best, it was busy while we were there and they were rocking it, and still pushed the boat out to make it a special day My partner was jus over the moon, everyone who came to surprise him had an absolute ball, and they want to do it again for their own family! Can't reccomend tabac and it's staff enough and for folks looking to celebrate in a different way, the movie space is so good!! Thank you so much gals!

Staff completely useless and run around like a load of headless chickens pretending to be busy with absolutely no leadership visible what so ever. None of the food that I ordered was correct, I had ordered a vegetarian meal and instead a plate of chicken and chips arrived and their “cod goujons” were simply frozen bird’s eye fish fingers and when staff were made aware of this, they took no accountability for their mistake and were extremely rude. So we left having ate nothing and were lucky to have gotten a refund because the young lad that served us was incredibly reluctant to give us one and if the girl on shift that day hadn’t stepped in I doubt I would have got a penny back. Save yourself the hassle and get yourself an American pizza slice, they’re next door but one to cafe Tupac!

Been coming here for many years and loved the atmosphere and food. Five of us are here this evening, menu for vegans is limited. I ordered the garden sandwich which is delicious and would recommend...lots of filling and served with fries and coleslaw, cost £7. My friend ordered avocado on toast... without eggs as she does not eat them but did ask for an alternative such as spinach or mushrooms. Unfortunately their policy is to not offer an alternative unless you pay extra. The cost of one piece of toast with thin layer of avocado was £7.50...sorry a rip off and my friend sent it back. She was not charged for the item and did not want anything else so this experience definitely tarnished the evening. Cafe Tabac need to review their policy and not leave their waiting on staff to address dissatisfied customers. Doubt we'll be back.

I have a history with Cafe Tabac as a couple of years ago I was there and the service was shocking. I was there with a friend and we were ignored when ordering and then I was short changed with my change after paying for an expensive meal and drinks. However this time I was there with my girlfriend after a rather boozy night out the night before. We were looking for a breakfast and my girlfriend chose the full English. It was a bit expensive at around £10.00 but she assures me it was good. I couldn't face the full breakfast but opted for scrambled eggs on sourdough bread. It was nice I think and I followed it with a strong coffee. I have to admit that I had a very bad hangover but it was nice to sit in Tabac and just come to. The staff were quite good joking with me regarding my hangover and provided plenty of water.

Went in with my wife, sister and brother-in-law, and we got sat right away. It had a lovely atmosphere. The food was really tasty. The music was good too. There was a bit of a wait on food and others who came in with the same number of people got served with drinks before we did. Our teas were forgotten to be served. The beans on the breakfasts was just warm when served and the extras we ordered were forgotten and they also forgot to bring us any cutlery. We had to go ask for knives and forks to eat. When the extra toast came it was more like hot bread that was bashed in the toaster last minute because they had forgotten. All-in-all, great food, lovely atmosphere, friendly service if a bit forgetful.

I adore this wunderful place and have eaten here for decades. I love the food, drink, atmosphere and most importanrly the staff!! The background music was bangin!! Brought back tonnes of memories. Had lunch with 1 of my favourite people and both dishes on point (I had scouse and she had a cheese and onion omelette), accompanied by a beautiful Sauvignon Blanc. Again I inquired about Rita's Goulash 1 and that it was one of the best dishes on the original menu! The server said she'd ask/suggest this to the chef(s). Such a delightful establishment with a phenomenal cultural history. Thank you Tabac for always being there

Really bad experience, came on a quiet Friday morning. First problem; they only brought 2 of the 4 breakfasts we ordered. After half an hour we asked about the other 2 as the ones they did bring were now cold. They told us they'd redo them and bring all 4 out fresh. After another 20 mins they brought the same 2 breakfasts out heated up and told us the other 2 would be done in 5 minutes. We waited another 30 minutes and not one of the waitresses came over and explained anything. We had to ask 3 times about the issues and weren't given a straight answer. Left and only paid for drinks. Disappointing because the last time we came service was great.

I have sentimental reasons for having fond memories of this place, due to the friend who introduced me to it the first time I came here. So when I was in Liverpool a month ago and was looking for somewhere to go for a quick coffee, I fully expected to come in and find that nostalgia had tinted my view of the place. I was really really happy to see that this wasn't the case - it really was as lovely as I'd remembered it being. The food is great, the whole atmosphere is just really lovely - basically it's just generally brilliant. I can't rate this place highly enough - and thanks for the memories :)

  • ann norton

Went for breakfast with a friend today and wasn't disappointed. I had Rita's (named after the original owner) full English breakfast...minus the beans(foul things). It was gorgeous, good quality bacon, sausage and black pudding and grilled tomato ( tinned should only be used for soups and stews) Hooray. Eggs how you want them and everything cooked beautifully. Staff were friendly and good service. Did an off menu omelette with Mexican flavours for my friend which she said was delicious. Good coffee, nice surroundings and overall nice vibe. I will be back.

Boyfriend rang an booked table for Valentine's night 8pm.....esp as they had. Wine an tapas offer on.... unfortunately train was but delayed nso got there just after 5 past eight. To be told kitchen closed an he wasn't told on booking it closed 8pm....why would you book Valentine's night table for no food.....saw people get meals delivered after 8:30 .....surely they could of served some hummus an olives ...stayed for 2 drinks then left..... Shame as one of my favourite places in city ....dunno when I'll be back either given staff attitude.....

Terrible service. The staff were very rude. Pancakes were very dry. Ordered 3 breakfasts and some breakfasts had mushrooms on and some didn’t. We were told they were busy so we couldn’t make swaps on our food, even though there were empty tables. We booked in advance and were very unaccomodating. Ordered 2 pineapple juices, when the waitress brought the drinks over we were told they were orange juice, I asked if it was pineapple juice and I got the response ‘I don’t know, what does it taste like’. Very unimpressed and overpriced for what it was.

  • wonderer 234

After waiting for our breakfast for 45 minutes the waiter came and said they have forgotten to put it through (!) And said "Sorry about that, do you want me to put it through for your now or you are alright?" So we waited in a restaurant hungry for 45 minutes and then all they can say to me is they can put it through now? I'm sorry but that shoud be such an EMBARRASMENT for a restaurant! The very least you can do in this situation is a HUGE apology and at least a breakfast on the house!!! This is beyond poor

Genuinely cool place that I remember my dad taking me to when I was a kid so it's been here a fair while, a nice atmosphere, good selection of drinks and nibbles, I've also had a nice breakfast here more than once, it's not a huge place, and the layout lends itself better to smaller groups, though having said that, I think that's probably one of my favourite things about it, great to come anytime for a coffee or beers or a snack with a couple of mates and have a catch-up or plan world domination

  • Sean Dunne

Lovely spot. Well cooked full breakfast with perfectly poured pint. You can tell a lot about a place by seeing how they treat their more eccentric customers. While I was there I witnessed a type of kindness towards a patron that seems to me to be less common nowadays. Maybe it's just a Liverpool thing but whatever it is keep up the good work.

It reminds me of the film dawn till dusk its so dimmly lit I feel. Like I am going to bump. Into a vampire . Staff very friendly and very helpful I suppose if your local visitors are vampires it's a case of needs must But good ale not seen or tasted the food there must try it some day been a few times now. I should imagine none of the food has garlic in it. But none the less nice, clean, well looked after and maintained establishment

By testimony of employees an oldest coffee bar in Liverpool, established back in 1974 by Mrs Rita now run by her daughter. Family rund coffee bar that will make your morning coffee or an breakfast plesent. Staff is nice and kind with good manners, and small terrace with awning in front will make possible to enjoy your morning coffee with cigarette even on a cold raining day. Place is clean and cosy with food hygiene rating 5. Definitely my choice.

This is a really lovely little café. Went in for some breakfast and we were seated quickly, friendly and welcoming staff, served fast and reasonable prices. My mate ordered something that wasn't on the menu and they were happy to make it for him. I was going to knock a star off as there was a problem with my order not going through, but the staff were really good about it and kept my mate's food warm while mine was cooked. Highly recommend.

  • Angela Wong #BabySumoBee

I used to always come here with my best friend as the location was the best as well as because of the late closing times. The food we ordered was always a generous amount and cooked well. I havnt been here a while ever since she moved down to London so hopefully one day I will return just to have the English breakfast again. I would highly recommend coming here for catching up with friends. Music maybe too loud to bring a new date here.

  • FARHAN Hassam

Great place with a very unique and quirky decor . Very friendly staff and something for everyone. I chose the vegetarian option and ordered a sweet potato and chickpea burger which was absolutely delicious . My wife got a vegetarian bap which was also incredible . The coffee was very nice and the prices are very reasonable. If you are looking for a nice breakfast or affordable lunch this place is a must .

  • Dean Smallshaw

This is a fantastic place to have a weekend breakfast. Had the vegan breakfast was very, very nice and plentiful. My only gripe, I know its in vogue, but, the cold mashed avocado with rest of the hot breakfast, I feel isn't necessary. I returned to try the eggs Florentine, this was exceptional. Coffee was really nice to boot. Bold street is fast becoming our family go to for a meal out.

A little wary after reading the reviews but arrived at 9 am yesterday for breakfast. Cheery greeting from all the staff. Great service. The full english was FULL. Two eggs, two sausage, two bacon, black pudding, mushroom, tomato, beans and a hash brown. All perfect. Very happy. Going again today!

Cafe Tabac has been a favourite of mine since the early 80s. Established in the late 70s, it's very much a part of the culture of Liverpool. Good food, friendly staff, and just a great place to take some time out with a coffee during the day time, or some food and wine in the evening. If you haven't been to Cafe Tabac yet, try it, you won't be disappointed.

Had a fantastic breakfast here on the Saturday and Sunday of a trip to Anfield and Liverpool. Fine big portions and the delicious food was piping hot and freshly cooked . Great value for money for soakage if going drinking or a hangover cure or just to set you up for the day . Staff very friendly aswell . Would defo go back here again .

  • Stevie Haughey

Amazing brunch spot with excellent food and music. The vibe is great. Staff were friendly. They even serve booze with a full English. The Guinness is good (and I'm a fussy Irish guy). The only thing I'd recommend changing is adding a vegetarian breakfast with modern vegetarian sausages (like Richmonds). Still deserves 5 stars though.

  • Sarah Kilgallon

Lovely place for a relaxed drink, good playlist and nice vibe. Good for daytime coffee and cake or evening cocktails. 1 star dropped as there was no draught lager and 2 of European bottled beers were out stock but still a good selection and a happy husband. Less than £30 for 3 lagers, a cocktail, a rum and coke and a glass of coke.

  • Siobhan Still

Terrible service. Makes so much impact on athmospeher. Got "served" by a very abrupt woman who really was more of a control freak. The kind you pray is not around. No please or thank you, slams your cup on a table and says nothing to you just walks off. Often before you had a chance to say or ask anything. Not attentive at all.

  • Beth Wood

The staff were friendly and the vibe of the place is great. However the pancakes are very overpriced, my poached eggs were basically hard-boiled, and half our food was delivered a good while before we were brought any cutlery. Not sure if this was down to not having enough staff in - they all seemed pretty rushed!

  • Kevin O Connor

The sausages were only browned on the top side and were kinda rubbery. Food took 45 mins to get to the table after ordering. Menu said "mushrooms" but there was only one half of a large mushroom on the plate. Other than the sausages, everything tasted good though. Atmosphere inside was nice. Coffee was fine.

  • Niki Hulinska

Had a lovely breakfast the other day.. Ordered Eggs benedict with bacon and hashbrowns on side. Food was beautifully cooked and hot.. Hashbrowns were the best I had in a long time. I used to come only for drinks but will certainly try more food in future. Very friendly staff as well. Would 100% recommend.

  • Ian Miller

Always a lovely place to visit, even as a local - friendly staff, delicious food, fresh pints, delectable coffee, and oh-so-moreish cocktails. This little hole-in-the-wall is a wonderfully bohemian and cosy cafe/bar that wouldn't be out of place in the Parisien artists' quarter. 10/10 would recommend.

  • Pauline Perry

Nice food, but seemed highly over priced on our last visit - we had 2 large lattes and 2 small breakfasts, totalling £21. Admittedly we have not been for 6 months or so always order same thing, usually totals about £15 approx, have prices risen that much?? We would return but query prices next time

  • sophie whitley

I love Tabac so much. The drinks are delicious, the food is really great and there's loads of choice. The staff are a great laugh and really helpful and there's a really good amount of seating both outside and in. Definitely worth a visit to the top of bold street if you're ever in Liverpool.

  • Mark McKerracher

Nice full English had a dippy egg, proper pork sausage and proper butter on toast bacon was sound and and perfect cooked hash brown nice and thin black pudding only got one of each item and it come to £9 with a cuppa tea so it's a lot more expensive than other places in town but worth it

  • Jim Eves

Food is still nice though breakfasts seem smaller than usual and prices have increased quite a bit since was here a couple of months ago. Also staff seem in over their heads as waiting for a while to be served and was nearly ready to walk out, a group actually did while we were seated.

  • Cyrus Gerrish

Been here for years, such a stalwart of Bold St. Has had its halcyon days, but the food and drink are reasonably priced, the staff are reasonably attentive and the menu is reasonable! Not to say I didn't have a lovely time. Would be 4-5 stars if the dishes were a little more inspired.

Very nice cafe in Liverpool! Lots of options and had dairy free and vegan options if you're visiting with someone with intolerances. I had the vegan breakfast which had has browns sausages tomato spinach and toast with avocado smash on top. Very tasty and reasonable prices.

  • Vicky Boardman

Food is great and if you know about colu (local currency similar to Bitcoin) they take this as payment. Be I'd is small so can be busier in the evenings. The hot choc and marshmallows is good but make sure to ask for it extra hot as they are generous with the whipped cream.

  • Kim Lamb

Nice cafe been here for a long time and has its regular supporters. Decent place for breakfast or lunch with a decent menu selection as well as hot and cold drinks. Expect a full english breakfast to cost around £9.50. Friendly helpful staff add to the pleasant ambiance.

Overpriced. However, decor is good and range of drinks good. Haven't tried the food since the son of the owner was very rude and unaccommodating when I was trying to order breakfast for a friend with food allergies. Which is a shame cos food used to be pretty good.

Great little cafe/bar on the corner of a treasure trove of a street. Service good, attentive staff. Menu varied. Only problem was smokers just outside the door infiltrated cafe with smoke, not pleasant so aim for the back/middle of cafe. Otherwise would recommend.
