[from July 2006] Spotted in my Entertainment (2-for-1) book, I decided to give this cafe a try and I'm glad I did. The people behind the counter were helpful and friendly, and the menu is pleasantly diverse (soups, sandwiches, desserts, and lots of coffees and teas). Comfy chairs and free wi-fi made it even better. My Cafe Milan (mocha with orange syrup) was quite tasty and not too sweet. My sandwich (pastrami) was okay, but nothing to write home about. I asked for a panini, expecting a grilled 'n' crispy delight, but it was basically just a regular sandwich. So I'd suggest coming here and lingering over some cups of fine coffee and tea, perhaps sampling a dessert, but I don't think the sandwiches are worth the price.

A semi-fancy coffee shop, with exquisite decor. It is a good place to work, and you will see many other patrons working. No surprise, with the free wifi and many outlets. The only thing to complain about would be the cold. Speaking of patrons, they betray the coffee shop's Noe Valley location. The coffee shop seems to have good breakfast and brunch options, and a colorful palette of pastries. However, the lunch options were more limited. Also, prices were toward the posh side. I had mixed feelings about the staff. Some of them were very courteous, others rather aloof. Everything considered, I will probably nonetheless come here again one morning.

I absolutely adore this place! There is nothing better than to come in here for a cup of tea and a bagel/croissant very in the morning or during a rainy day. Or any other day and time for that matter! It is so atmospheric! Very neat and tidy. Staff is super friendly. And food is absolutely delicious! People giving bad reviews to this place need to have a reality check! I have ordered with them many times custom made bagels and I absolutely LOVE their croissants, and it was to the highest standards! I hope they're doing ok and still open during and after covid! If you can, do support this place- they deserve it! XO! :)

We went to cafe xo wanting to try a new place in the neighborhood. The experience was very disappointing. We ordered bagel with lox and a Belgian waffle and lemon cake. For the prices the bagel and waffle were just not upto the mark. They were eatable but when you pay 10$ for a bagel you expect it to be a certain standard. Same with the waffle. Cafes around this place have way better food for the same price. The servers were not polite and didn’t care to explain details on the bagel when I asked.

Lovely inside, great atmosphere. Their coffee is so delicious! Had their cafe mocha frappe, which is the best coffee I've had in a long time. And their food items look very tempting.

Cafe XO is a comfortable cafe for people watching, dessert and coffee. The satin cake is my go to dessert, but I have tried many other menu items that are just as delicious. Personally, I enjoy the ambiance and this location of Noe Valley. Particularly helpful is the SFMTA Muni J line and 24 bus which pass directly in front.

Sad to say it, but the cafe is in real decline. I've been patronizing them for 9 years and their quality and pricing has never been worse. I ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese, tomato, and egg, and it came out to NINE dollars. The tomato was mealy, grey, and fibrous. The cheese was flavorless, and the egg unseasoned. The coffee was worse. Again, nine dollars. Pretty outrageous. Avoid.

I gift a simple breakfast sandwich but somehow they made it absolutely delicious with such basic ingredients I was compelled to review them. Coffee was also very yummy and most importantly the staff were so lovely to interact with. Cozy vibes included. Thanks for being open and welcoming on Christmas Day!

This is one of the cutest coffee spots in the city! The molasses cookie and crumb cake were excellent. I highly recommend either or both. The coffee was also hot, strong, and delish! I love the inside of this place and their location. You have to go.

Coffee shop in Noe Valley, with so-so coffee. I have been to this place on several occasions and I think it has good smoothies, great pastries and good sandwiches. It is a little expensive compared to other places in the area and I don't usually leave this place with a WOW factor, but I do go back on occasion as it is near the muni stop on the J line.

  • Alyssa Gregory

Horrid bagels. They're extremely flat and tasteless and barely had any butter or cream cheese on them (picture of cream cheese bagel taken after I attempted to spread the minimal amount of cream cheese placed in one spot around a little). Gross. Won't ever go back, which is disappointing because it's right across the street from my apartment.

Great service. Great ambiance. Plenty of tables to sit and perhaps do some work on the computer. It was my first time going today, and got a delicious mocha. I can’t believe it took me 4 years to finally check this place out, as it’s almost in my backyard. I will definitely be back! Love the Christmas decorations, too.

Cafe XO is everything you could ever want in a neighborhood cafe. Friendly employees who know the regulars' names, relaxing music, fresh flowers and a plethora of homemade baked goods. I absolutely love this place and recommend stopping by anytime you're in Noe Valley!

  • Margarita Rincon

Really nice coffe place, it's a hidden gem in Noe Valley. They offer free wifi, there are a few chairs outside and is right next to the Bus stop. Staff is very friendly and speak Spanish. Service is fast and food is good. You can even order online or call ahead.

First time visiting this cafe. Very clean! Large assortment of items on the menu. All the pastries in the display case looked fresh and delicious. I tried a slice of pecan pie! Definitely, will be back again as it was a pleasant surprise in the neighborhood.
