I would give it 0 stars if that were an option. I came with my friend for the hot chocolate festival and ordered Diwali's Dream, which is described as "#32 - DIWALI'S DREAM (V) / An India-inspired hot chocolate made from a home made mix of spices blended with almond milk and dark chocolate. Served with a ginger cookie." With this description, I expected a mix of (Indian) spices, but I tasted none of this at all. It tasted like regular hot chocolate. I've included the picture of how the hot chocolate was presented. Hot chocolate with marshmallows floating on top (marshmallows weren't even in the description...) The hot chocolate also wasn't hot. My friend thought that maybe they made the regular hot chocolate from the menu and misunderstood that we wanted Diwali's Dream from the hot chocolate festival menu. We told the lady at the counter that we didn't taste any of the spice, and she said "Diwali's Dream isn't spicy. If you want spicy, try the "Calientito." She then asked the barista if he made this drink, and he said, "yes, what is the problem?" But she didn't let him investigate and just said that Diwali's dream isn't spicy. As you can see from my picture, there was no ginger cookie and no acknowledgement from the person who brought it to us why it was missing. When we asked what happened to it, the same lady told us that they will include it when they have it, and they didn't happen to have it. As we are 6 days into the hot chocolate festival and it was 11 am, I don't understand why they wouldn't have it. She then gave us one of those Danish cookies from the blue tins. Near the bottom of my drink, I found all these chocolate chips that weren't even melted. The absolute worst part of this was the stomach trouble that I had an hour later. Thankfully my friend didn't experience this. I could just buy some chocolate chips and marshmallows from Superstore and make a drink that would be better than this. What a waste of $5.25. Please avoid this drink.

Went here last week, after deciding to try something different in the area. This heritage caffe is really cute and has a lot of character when you walk in. I guess due to covid, the menu was very limited. There were not many sandwiches available and 3 soups were unavailable. I ordered the tuna sandwich and turkey and brie sandwich. There were 2 young ladies working that day. They were quite flustered as there were quite a bit of customers and not enough hands, naturally so. We went upstairs to look for a place to seat, and after some time the waiter removed some mugs off the table for us to sit. While we were waiting for our order, one of the workers screamed from the bottom of the stairs that our order was up. I think a few customers were totally caught off gaurd because initially I thought that was quite unprofessional, and we couldnt really hear what order she was shouting. We had to carry our sandwich/soup upstairs hoping not to fall! The verdict: The turkey and brie looked really good from the window- when we recieved it, the sandwich actually looked much smaller. It was on the sweeter side and the welted ?lettuce made it feel more soggier. The tuna melt was OK. The sandwich dough was quite soft and fluffy, but the tuna sauce made the sandwich very soggy if you didnt eat it quick enough The butternut squash soup was tasty. Interestingly, we had chips and salsa. To note, the salsa tasted from a jar, and not fresh. Overall, 3/5 for the food. Before we left, I ended up getting a chai tea and a regular drip coffee, and those were quite tasty! 4/5. I would give it another try sometime in a few months, to try other options.

Went there for a Sunday breakfast with a friend. ( to my knowledge we where the only ones there at that time unless people where upstairs which I did not realize was more restaunt) They only had drip coffee available at the time we went. However maybe there was just some confusion for what my friend was asking for. We decided against drink and ordered the European breakfast. However the picture advertising the breakfast has bacon on it but no bacon available only the choice of ham and sausage. Which is fine just would suggest a image update is all. personally never had a breakfast in England with potato chips and salsa but I'm open to the possibility if it. The look of the place was cute and fun and could make a good go of it however... Food: My friend and I ordered over easy eggs hers where very much over done (my eggs where cooked correctly) The ham is just cold delimeat ham which was fine I guess for what it was. There was no salt and pepper for the table, and when asked, arrived in little to go sauce containers to pinch onto your food. ( don't get me wrong appreciate that I got what I asked for just stood out as notable) The vibe of place: The staff took our order not unfriendly but the inviorment felt kind of unwelcoming in a weird way I can't quite put my finger on. Judging from other people's experiences i hope this place does well but I dont think id be back for a breakfast moment any time soon. Maybe that was our fault for going to it for breakfast instead of just a coffee moment or something. Wish this place luck and hope it works out its a nice place

I came here with my mom after we checked out of our airbnb to kill time before our flight. The building is old and beautiful with ample outdoor and indoor seating. It seems like the first floor is a screen free zone but the second floor had some people using laptops, so I assume there is wifi. We got a regular hot latte and a Chai latte and both were delicious! For sure would recommend for drinks but the food is just okay. I got a breakfast everything bagel and was miffed as the online menu (which they pointed me to, since they dont have a full size printed menu) listed it as having bacon but mine did not. When I asked them about it, the two cashiers said that I had to have asked to add bacon separately when ordering, which seems bizarre since it is literally the second ingredient listed in the sandwich and not noted as an optional addition. I didn't feel like fighting with them on this despite it being their mistake so service wise, it was pretty meh. While drinking our lattes, we noticed one of the employees drop some kind of roll from the top of the display pastry case (so it ended up on top of the bottled and canned drinks within the same display case) and just put it back. I get that it didn't touch the ground but didn't seem super sanitary to put it back as usually the drink displays are not always cleaned. Overall, this place has good ambiance for studying/doing work upstairs and good lattes but probably not coming again next time I am in town.

If this place was a lemonade stand they would serve you Tang and call it fresh because they mixed it up this morning. Went here for lunch, my girlfriend got the breakfast sandwich and I ordered the Turkey and Brie on focaccia with fig aioli. By the time they finally brought me my order my girlfriend was almost done her breakfast bagel so that was annoying. My sandwich came on whole wheat bread with just mayo(no fig as advertised) and looked and tasted like something your parents packed you for school and you forgot it at the bottom of your backpack. When I questioned the staff about the bun they said “it is focaccia and is baked fresh every morning” I asked to see their recipe for focaccia because I have never seen focaccia made with whole wheat, no herbs salt or olive oil, they told me they order it in off site and bake it fresh every morning so they don’t have a recipe. Very disappointing and will not be back. Next time I want a sandwich I’ll go up the road to Tractor where it’s always delicious and the staff know the ingredients they are serving to customers. Edit: Your staff did not offer me any alternative, so either they lied to you or you’re lying to me, and if they did I would have declined and asked for a refund because the food was incredibly underwhelming. I saw a plastic clamshell container of croissants on the stainless steel in the back when I ordered at the till so I have my doubts that the croissants were baked fresh that day also. Good luck moving forward, but sadly I don’t think I’ll ever come back.

The best thing about this place is the location and the atmosphere. Came here for lunch with a couple of co-workers. Server came and took our orders, after some time came back to tell us that one order was unavailable and the other had to be altered because they didn't have enough. She forgot to bring our drinks and refresh our water. Had to reminded a couple of times. Food came out cold and at very different times, instead of us eating altogether. There was about a 15min delay from the first order and the last ordering being served. I ordered the Mac n' Cheese in puff pastry and it ended up being altered 2 times. Once because they only had the mini versions, so I had to get 2 mini's for the same price as the regular. Then they didn't have 2 of the mini's so I only got 1 in the end. It came out luke warm, very dry and some of the noodles seems like they either weren't cooked fully or were dehydrated because they were very crunchy. When it was time to pay the bill, she mixed up the order and instead of providing a receipt with the changes she just gave us the POS to pay. It wasn't worth arguing over a new receipt to ensure it was corrected. I don't think I would try this place again, it had to many issues during service for my taste.

Nice decor. Ticket times were fairly long on the breakfast (about 25 minutes, even though we were one of only 3 tables when we arrived, and the only table there when we left Americano was good, as was the chai latte Traditional english breakfast was terrible. A single egg, handful of chips, egg-cup full of store bought salsa, 1 pre-cooked cut up sausage, 1 egg, a small jar (about 1/4 cup) of beans, 2 pieces of toast and 1 store bought hashbrown and 1 small slice of grilled tomato for $18 I don't mind paying above average for food if the food is made well, but aside from the egg everything on the plate was either cold (sausage/beans had not been warmed up all that much) or just undercooked (limp hashbrown with that uncooked potato crunch). The egg was fine. I won't be going back

Wow, what a gem Caffe Cittadella is! I couldn't believe it when I stumbled upon this quaint heritage building restaurant/cafe nestled in a cozy area with an enchanting little garden patio in the Fairview area of Vancouver. The food is fabulous, the atmosphere great, the staff amazingly sweet and it is very clean! As well, the prices are very reasonable for this area. I can't say enough about this place, I'll be going back there every time I have a medical apt in the area. I believe in supporting small businesses, and this one is well worth supporting. We need to keep these kinds of establishments in our beautiful city. Thank you to the kind staff who allowed me to use the facilities when I first stopped in. Janet

We stopped in here yesterday for the first time and absolutely loved it! It's a cozy cafe in a restored heritage home with an upstairs and downstairs. My husband and I ordered a brownie and a cinnamon bun with our coffees. Both pastries were delicious, and the coffee was good too. The staff here are so friendly and welcoming. When I was trying to decide between pastries the girl behind the counter began explaining them to me (which ones were vegan, GF, and just regular). Overall, just loved the cozy, quiet, laid-back vibe of this cafe. Definitely try it if you're in the area!

If you prefer a gluten-free diet, Caffe Cittadella has GF black bean oatmeal brownie that is lighter than a regular supermarket brownie, still chocolate-y but really delightful. I think it is a bit like eating red bean pastry. I ordered regular Latte to match with the brownie as this is one of the 3 combo options at $7. I forgot what the other options were. Many customers opted for lunch specials for $9 and my friend ordered a lunch special - House Bagel, coming with potato chips with salsa dipping sauce. She said the bagel was warm and really pleasing. The 4-star instead of 5 was due to the 20 minute food waiting time. However, we went on BC Day and that might mean staff was short.

I can understand why this place might have four stars, due to people being distracted by the look of the place. So it makes it look better than it is. Sadly, the food tastes canned, the bread I tasted was stale and cold(apparently toasted), with gross potateo chip. Why two starches?! The display had stale, very old food items which are crusting and hard. It really is a major turn off. Then also the liquore bottles are crystallizing from not being washed and covered. And the decore, well broken items, it's really obvious that everyone here has given up. And you can taste it! Then there's the lack of proper service-frankly I could write am essay on why this place is only open due to the attraction of the exterior.

The picture you see was taken in 2012Feb 11 years ago. This charming coffee place was great. Very nice espresso beverages, food and great vibe and atmosphere. Staff where knowledgeable and friendly. Today I visited Caffè Cittadella and I didn’t like the experience. I did not enjoy the taste of coffee and vibe was very different. I didn’t felt like staying. Interaction with staff felt like I’m at a fast food restaurant. They didn’t have oat milk, little things adds together I don’t think I’m going back. Right now I don’t recommend Cittadella Coffee. Cheers, Z

Wonderful restored Victorian house, with delicious freshly baked breakfast items. We ate there 2 days in a row for breakfast and both times the food was great. Had fresh steel-cut oatmeal (asked me if i wanted it made with milk or water) and a chocolate croissant the first morning, and a breakfast parfait, and a regular croissant the second. My friend had a custom made hot coffee and milk drink and a delicious Danish. Woman owned business. No screens allowed in the main downstairs room. Also had a small patio. Lovely!

Quaint heritage building preserved as a comforting and chilled out coffee house, I love it and the vibe! This joint gives you the same mellow vibe as slurping a coffee in your pajamas whilst in your living room, no pretentious influences you get with chains. Stopped for a coffee, the perfect place after a cycle in a convenient location right off Cambie. Super friendly staff, awesome decor and good variety of dairy-free milk alternatives. I didn't eat, but the food looks pretty yummy and will try a baked snack next time probably. I'd love it if they supplied fully compostable take-away packaging for coffees as the lids are hard plastic. Support local!

This place is cute and cozy. I love that it’s in a heritage house. 2 floors, tables are nice and distanced and the fireplace is wonderful though I sat by the large window with a view. My Chai Latte and Coffee Cake were good but my friend’s Americano was too watered down and her Ham and Cheese Croissant that she ordered didn’t come with Swiss but cheddar. I also found it odd that people would get potato chips with their salsa. A bit overpriced but overall it is a great place, nice variety, but it’s too bad my friend’s drink and sandwich didn’t measure up. I would go back though. Would be nice to sit outside on the cute patio when it’s warmer.

I’ve walked by here several times and I always thought it looked like such a cute place. Finally had a chance to stop in and take it in. Coming in I thought we had to order at the till but to my surprise they said to go find a seat and we will come serve you. Another surprise was once they brought the food and drinks over the waitress right away had us pay for it. I had the Indian coffee and it was really flavourful. Honestly I don’t really recall the service as it was bare minimum. But the croissant I had was delish. I would come back for the food, drinks and atmosphere.

The place is cozy and warm welcome, service is awesome, all staff is friendly and helpful. I reduce 2 stars because of the food. We did order soup and grilled cheese, we can tell that this place using the can soup to serve, if it made in-house or got it from others local soup companies, the quality will be better. Coffee was okay not so bad but not great. So far this place can do much better on its menu, doesn’t need lots of choices. Spanish latter is the most delicious thing that we ordered so far.

Was here on a weekday early afternoon. About 3 of the tables were taken and although the space is not tight, it had a decent chill vibe. There’s some seatings available outside as well with tables. Lattes were pretty good and the food selection is good considering its size. From pastry to sandwiches to samosas to full breakfast/brunch meals - it has a bit of everything —> including alcohol bevvies. Can scan for a full menu at the table and they’ll do table service as well.

We stumbled upon this beautiful cafe and wanted it to be great, but it wasn't! the place is beautiful inside, good music, quiet. The waiters are nice but the service is very slow, we ordered a couple of things from the window and waited too long for them to heat up a croissant? The coffee is not bad but it is not good either. Here everything seemed clumsy. The waitresses kept forgetting things and it seems like an unrehearsed show, somehow it doesn't feel natural, it feels like it's everyone's first day. They need to have a smaller menu!

Service was terrible. It wasn't busy but it was still very slow and waitress kept forgetting things. We ordered the Mac and cheese, everything bagel breakfast and grilled cheese with soup. The Mac and cheese was so dry and hard. It tasted like it was microwaved. The bagel was soggy. Grilled cheese took so long to come out. Soup was probably from a can. Overpriced for nothing. I do not recommend. 10000% would not come back here.

The building dragged me inside, an Heritage Building in the middle of the city. Lovely, cozy, beautiful music and ambience…the food is ok, buy the reason I’m not giving 5 stars was the cinnamon roll. I tried to give it a bite and was so hard, impossible to chew. I asked to change for another one but the other was harder. I gave up. Not sure if was the batch or if they were old. The staff is really kind and they assured me those are baked in house, so maybe too much flour? I didn’t want to change for another bread, two were enough.

Cute little cafe with a variety of drinks and some food. Beautiful outdoor area with tons of greenery. The service people were very attentive and made sure we got our orders right away. Prices were reasonable. Samosa was a bit expensive at $5 for a small piece with dipping. There is street parking available. Definitely go there for the ambiance. This coffeeshop is very warm, cozy and inviting. It gives you that made by grandma vibe. Their coffee is really good too. The location is a plus! A few years back, I helped my best friend propose to his wife here. We talked to the owner and he graciously lended us the 2nd floor for a few hours. It was perfect... Very romantic I did a photoshoot here too and they were okay with it as long as you respect other customers, not cause any trouble and of course order any food or drinks!

  • J.J. McCullough

This place is cute, but nothing special. The food is just the sort of low-effort canned soup, supermarket bread sandwiches, and mass-produced muffins and croissants you’d find at any run-of-the-mill coffee shop chain like Blendz or Waves. Possibly even slightly worse. If that’s all you’re looking for, it’s fine, but don’t expect some “hidden gem” experience. There are a lot of bossy signs telling you to not use electronics like laptops and tablets, so don’t come here to work.

The location and atmosphere was really nice, unfortunately that was about it. The menus were difficult to read. An $18 European breakfast looked like powdered eggs (when we asked for sunny side up), two tiny sausages, prepackaged soggy hash brown patties, and terrible baked beans. A tiny glass of orange juice and surprisingly decent coffee was an extra $5, which they forgot to charge me initially. I hope they improve in the future, but for now we will go somewhere else.

  • Caroline Liu

This used to be a great cafe. The new ownership has turned it into something mediocre. I got an americano and a croissant which was microwaved into a mushy pile of soggy butter, ick! Maybe this place is now a cake and a sugary drink place. Definitely not a coffee and croissant cafe any longer. The floors and walls look really dirty, it could use a paint job.

Beautiful cafe. Staff is very friendly and great service. Food and coffee is subpar: oat misto was watery with no flavour; Elysian’s is the gold standard. Bagel sandwich had juices running off the wrapper which easily rips and when you have small tables with no leg room, you have to eat over your lap which is not a good combo.

One of the best coffee shops in Vancouver. The location is perfect. The building is very interesting and kinda historical. The are two level in this coffee shop and the second floor is perfect for long / short seating and hanging out with friends or alone reading book. There is balcony in the second floor which makes it the best place for a coffee date. The balcony has its privacy as well. Also there are outside seating for warm seasons. Definitely recommend.

Really cute heritage home converted to a cafe! It was a great find near West Broadway for lunch. After ordering, servers will bring your food to your table which is quite nice. I wish there were more places to sit when the weather isn't nice; however, during a nice day, there's lots of seating inside, outside on the balcony, and I believe upstairs as well. It would be great if they had more vegetarian-friendly items on the menu as well.

Want to grab a coffee and a pastry, and sandwich, or dessert in an old heritage remodelled home, and then this is it. The place has 2 floors with an expansive green patio in the middle of a city but has the ambiance of a nice neighbourhood cafe. The baristas are friendly and welcoming. The coffee is good roasted from Parallel 49 and they have a small selection of tables on the table other floors for you and a guest to have coffee.

Today my friend and I had a very special lunch at this adorable cafe situated in a charming historic building. I had the waffles with blueberries and whip cream and my favorite chai latte. My friend had the mini Mac and Cheese in puff pasty and a Spanish latte. We were tempted by the variety of desserts and were really happy with the black bean vegan brownie - delicious!!! the staff were friendly. We will definitely be back

  • Alicia Watt

I love the space. The food is confusing. To put it bluntly, it has no claim to fame. It’s a jack of all trades, master of none. When you have too many options, quality goes down and demand of preparation from staff is taxing as there’s too many options. Trying to cover all their bases from potato chips, bagged candy to booze, samosas, coffee, Mac and cheese is never good.

Beautiful vintage house turned into a cafe (and bistro with an alcohol license) with lots of patio seating (COVID...). They serve parallel 49’s coffee and they have a lot of nice pastry and little sandwiches. I can only imagine how beautiful and popular this place would be on a nice sunny day. Or just get your coffee here and walk in the neighborhood!

My husband and I love this place immensely. In a way, we are glad it's nowhere near where we live because we'd go there literally everyday. Best cappuccino and mocha... especially cappuccino, just the way they made it in Italy. Their panini grilled sandwiches were delicious with rich vinegar and red sauce. Overall very chilled place with happy staff.

The coffee is really good but if you want to sit down for a grab while working on your computer it’s definitely not the right place. Maybe it is for a meet up, but the wifi is bad and the inside of the café is not as nice as it looks like on the outside. I still do recommend the place for its coffee, which is also cheaper than in many other cafes.

Drop by a cozy cafe for a quick bite. The heritage building made great atmosphere. They have more seats in the outdoor patio and upstairs. Pretty good coffee and scones. A little bit pricey but the portion is big.

I had a wonderful lunch at the cafe, with its unique decor and delicious food. There is such a wide variety in the menu to choose from. Ideal for a quick breakfast or meeting friends. I was also impressed to discover more tables upstairs for customers as well as out on the patio! A trendy yet heritage-inspired cafe well worth experiencing!

I do not know why everyone likes this place. I ordered a vegan sausage roll. It was literally a hot dog in pastry. For some reason it took 30 minutes to get a latte, and two things from their window. We ordered three baked goods and got two. This was a disaster of a stop for a trip.

The place is very cozy. The service is excellent. They bring the food & beverage to your table. The floor upstairs is designated for laptop users, so other customers who just want to stay for a short while can find seats downstairs. There's also a beautiful patio on the ground floor. Never lack of seats, even on the weekend.

Cute little cafe that my boyfriend and I loved so much that we went here twice. The food and drinks were amazing. The service very good and and the atmosphere was to die for. I suggest the Turkey and cheese croissant.

Picturesque outdoor shady dining (in summer, likely sunny in winter), we had great paninis, scones, tea and coffee. Awesome upstairs tables with window spots looking into the trees. We loved all the levels to hang out - inside and outside.

I had an amazing experience at the cafe! The ambiance and vibe were fantastic, creating a cozy atmosphere. The service, especially from Roop, was top-notch. She was incredibly kind and attentive throughout my visit, making it even more enjoyable. I can't wait to come back!

Might be the lowest quality food for the price. Canned salsa, canned beans, frozen fruits, and store bought deli meats. Coffee and orange juice came out 10 minutes past the food. Food cost is up, yes, but this is egregious. Is this a simulation??

Not the best coffee, IMO. Everything is chic though and the ambiance is fantastic. If you want a (pricey) coffee date, you’ve got it. But if you’re there to eat or drink, be prepared to spend at least $35 (without tip) on snacks and drinks for two. But at least you’d get cute pics for your IG lol

Took around 10 minutes to receive a lightly toasted bagel with cream cheese. Feel like the prices are so deceiving too. I saw that the bagel with cream cheese was $5.00 but got charged extra $1.45 for cream cheese.

A quaint cafe built into an old house offering a delicious menu of hot drinks and pastries. It is on a nice quiet street and has some lovely outdoor seating surrounded by greenery including chery blossom trees. Would definitely come here to meet with friends/loved ones or to work!

This place is not ideal for studying or working due to the poor WiFi connectivity. Additionally, you may find it inconvenient that you cannot occupy the tables by the window if you're using a computer. It's unfortunate because the coffee here is good, and it's a beautiful place.

Great cute Cafe with so much character! A little gem that we stumbled upon on a bike ride. So much nicer than going to your average chain coffee house like starbucks - definitely recommend giving it a try you won't regret it! This will become my new regular. Support your local!

Fantastic heritage style coffee shop in the concrete jungle. Lots of outdoor and indoor seatings. There’s even a quiet second floor seating area up the stair. Coffee and pastries are great. Staff are always friendly. Our go to place off the busy W Broadway thoroughfare.

Good place for coffee and sweets but not so sure about food…paid $14 for chicken noodle soup and a bubly water. The soup was $9 and the cheap canned campbells kind…so I paid $9 for canned soup and $4 for a can of bubly? My friends tomato soup was also clearly canned.

Super cute cafe in a heritage building/house, which is super unique for an ever-changing city… patio in the front is really nice, tree coverage and feels private from the intersection! They always have combo specials which is so nice, and the brew is delicious!!!

This is one of the most beautiful and hidden coffee shop in Vancouver. The decor, the small tables and the garden, is just love to come over with friend, the coffee is good quality and the pastry selections are good, perfect for morning or afternoon meeting place

Loved this place. Came in 20 mins before closing. Staff was super friendly and very informative about their Beans. Nice to have a coffee maybe with passion. Nicolas seems to love what he does and made a true Macchiato. Cozy spot. Tasty healthy treats too.

  • Facu Esain

The heritage house had so much potential, but instead of living up to it, they set up the cheapest cafe possible. It’s a fast food cafe in a heritage building disguise. Owners just wanted to make quick money. There are far better options in the area. More

I like the building of Caffe Cittadella, it's old and beautiful. If you're lucky enough, you can get a table on balcony and look at the street of Ash Road. The coffee and desserts offered are fairly bargain and delicious. A nice place to hang out. …

  • Eseohe “Ese” Ojo

It's a great place to work. Love the tea lattes. Not much food options but it seems relatively hidden and doesn't get much traffic. On days like that, it is a great spot to work for long periods undisturbed. The heritage building itself is also nice.

  • Kirk Chantraine

Coffee is good and it's a super cute space, but the caprese sandwich was a little flat. Could've been grilled longer and seasoned better, possibly some more basil. Will come back for the coffee and maybe try the other vegetarian option another time.

The loveliest service I've ever experienced. The staff clearly enjoy their jobs. The food is delicious and coffee perfect. It's a little loud sometimes if you sit next to an open window (which you can close) but there's no real complaints

VERY tasty baked goods and drinks, unique building and history. Only giving 4 stars because they could cozy the place up a bit more and capitalize on the fantastic history. One wall had some old newspaper clippings and photos, but I'd

I went there today, and they did not let me use my laptop... This is a first for a cafe. Kinda ridiculous in this day and age. They also closed their upstairs area, which made the cafe quite busy. Far from a relaxing experience.

The place was really nice, but there were still bits of chocolate at the bottom of the cup for all of them, and even though two of my friends got the green chan for the hot chocolate festival they both looked very different.
