The worst experience ever! Purchased a cake for £34.99 via apple pay! Manager said payment didn't go through- called bank and they confirmed with authorisation code right away. Showed the bank app and apple pay that money has gone through, she even took a picture on her mobile phone and i gave my contact details if any problems. However manager still said there is no payment gone through and she refused to give the cake. The payment had been taken out of my account but no cake - confirmed my bank! I am complaining to head office about the upset and embarrassment she caused me in a shop full of customers! Never going again. The so-called manager needs training in customer service. This was a cake I needed for 3:00pm today for my engagement! Never again!

Absolutely horrible The customer service was a disaster, apparently the cake can't be frosted in coloured frosting. You can't choose the old pictures of cake anymore as inspiration as they simply don't so them coloured! Very little room for creativity even though its a cake parlour The colours of my cake were not at all as we have written it down and the swirls which were on it, to be honest my 3 year old could have done them better The staff is absolutely terrible, no room for creativity or even some inspiration from their side Thanks for ruining a special day which was a 1st birthday Never again and I will certainly recommend to people not to go there

We have been buying cakes from the cake box for numerous years and have not had an issue up until this year. We got a cake 2 months ago which was subpar at best however we decided to get a cake for a birthday yesterday in case this was a one off. We went into cake box at 1pm and paid £20 for a 6” cake. This cake was absolutely awful, it tasted stale and honestly not fresh at all with quite an unusual type of taste. I have attempted to call 5 times today to discuss this and have had no answer any time I’ve called. I’m very disappointed with this and quite honestly this has ruined a birthday. This is not what we have expect from the cake box.

Went instore to order a cake they made me place the order online at the store on my mobile phone. For whatever reason payment went through on my side however on cake box’s side it didn’t for the online order. They made the cake and I was able to pay for it with the card machine instore so firstly why not give customers the option. I had one payment taken straight away and the original payment I made via their online order pending for weeks. Ridiculous system. Really unhelpful the manager was and could tell she just wanted to get rid of me and pacify me with whatever answer, expected better from this company.

Just Bought Mango cake slice today and First I been told That they don't have mango slice at the moment and then when I was going back the lady told me that she have mango slice and gave me for free,but when I arrived at home the cake slice was so hard and strawbery on top was litle mold and stawberry was look like 3 days old slice and even When removed stawberry from top there was an Insect inside the cake thankfully I have seen it otherwise I has eaten it. We have got cake from this location on many occasions and each time the quality, service of the staff, and friendly attitude make it worthwhile. Each time the cakes are made to an outstanding standard and the staff pay attention to detail. They clearly have great knowledge of their brand. Our party cakes always turn out perfect and I would never buy from anywhere else.

I ordered 2 cakes for my nephews as an Eid present and they said to me that they did not like the cake as the sponge of the cake was not fresh. They only had a bit of the cake before throwing it away in the bin. I don't think I will be buying a cake from cake box any time soon (Ilford Lane Cake Box).

Have bought from this place 5 times, 5 times of which have failed. The cake was stale, dry and tasteless. After the first time, we asked the worker if the cakes are fresh as we did not want a repeat of the first time to which we were rudely spoken to and with attitude. Would not recommend at all!

If you cant keep the cake sponge moist like a cake should be, then use an egg! Small cakes, dry inside relying totally on the cream/icing to dress it as a cake and ensure its sweet. Waaaaaay over priced.
