I had an angiogram and when I woke up I had flank pain. I immediately reported it to the nurse and she said it may be positional. I accepted this and was moved to the ward. When I was on the ward the pain got more severe and I asked the nurses for assistance. I told them the pain was becoming unbareable and that something needed to be done. I asked to speak to the team leader and she decided to call a met call. Two doctors from ICU came to see me and the bed manager for the hospital at that time. The treatment I received from the bed manager was absolutely appaling. Yelling at me that I need to sit up even though I was struggling in pain. I was trying my best to get into a position to be assessed. The doctor then assessed me and told me I had nothing wrong and it was simply a muscle spasm. I explained my medical history and that I would like to have a CT scan done and I was informed that the CT machine was off which was not true. I was also told that the results couldn’t be read so they would not do one and the risk of radiation was too high. I explained that I was willing to take that risk or I would like other tests done. They said they wouldn’t be doing any tests because nothing is wrong. I asked if I could call an ambulance to take me to another hospital that would treat me and they said no. I also asked to be wheeled to the front door so I could catch a cab to another hospital and they too refused to do that. I asked the doctor if he would apologise when he finds out that something was wrong and he said “no, because nothing is wrong.” The met call team left and I was left in horrific severe pain the entire night, unable to sleep and discharged the following morning. I presented to another hospital the following day and it was discovered that I had an internal bleed. They found I had a retroperitoneal bleed in the right side of my abdomen and that I urgently required blood transfusions as my haemoglobin was extremely low. I was told I am lucky to have survived. I was put in an ambulance and transferred back to Calvary. I was then placed in a ward for hours waiting to see my doctor on my own. When my doctor arrived he decided to transfer me to ICU. Once I was in ICU I then spoke to Dr Hockley the head of ICU and asked him to conduct an investigation and he said “you also made mistakes” and I asked him how I had done so. He let me know I had suggested to the doctors that I had a PE which was not correct. I had given my medical history that included a PE. At no point did I suggest that I knew what was wrong. I only suggested that there was something wrong. The treatment by Dr Hockley was appaling. At one stage he said to me “I own this ICU, I own all the doctors, nurses and staff here, I own that PICC line inserted in your arm”. In my discussions he would be rude and evasive of my questions and his decisions were poor. He sent a doctor to canulate me so my PICC could be removed as I was being transferred to the ward. This doctor went against my wishes and caused a severe nerve injury to my wrist after I had asked him to not cannulate me there. After he hit the nerve causing severe pain I asked him to stop but he held me down and yelled at me to stop moving. My mother walked in and asked him to stop so he did. He then proceeded to attempt to cannulate me a further 6 times causing me physical pain unnecessarily. He should have called another doctor to do so after 2 attempts. The dealings with this hospital has been the most horrific I have ever experienced and the mental and physical trauma I sustained is beyond words. I was told this inadequate treatment could have lead to my death had I have not gone to another hospital. If I had not received the blood transfusions in time I could have died from hypovolemic shock. I do not recommend this hospital and wouldn’t tell my worst enemy to go there. I was treated worse than a dog and I hope to never set foot in this hospital again. I would give 0 stars if I could.

"Open heart surgery at a hospital with services of a five star hotel standards". A Big big thank you to : Dr.James Edwards, CardioThoracic Surgeon, Dr Richard Yeend, Cardiologist, Dr David Cardone, Anaesthetist All ICU Doctors and Nursing staff and CCU Nursing staff I have had my open heart surgery done at new Calvary Hospital Adelaide on 31st March 2021 and am well and healthy again. As a result, 10 months after the surgery I feel happy, healthy and a new person now. I go for 45 minutes fast pace walk each day. My treatment journey in brief: I had been living with Mitral stenosis (mitral valve disease) since my teenage. Till now, I have had two open heart surgeries, first one in June 1995 for repair of mitral valve (at RAH); and the second one - a much more complicated one on 31st of March 2021 (in the new Calvary Adelaide Hospital) for replacement of mitral and aortal valves with mechanical valves and mild atrial appendage performed by the well renowned CardioThoracic Surgeon Dr James Edwards. Dr Richard Yeend, Cardiologist had been treating me for my Mitral valve disease, for well over 17 years in his practice located in Kent Town, Adelaide, as well as in Calvary suites in Adelaide CBD. My experiences are that Dr Yeend shows continuous interest in providing medical treatment to his patients with the positive outcomes. In my recent quite complicated open heart surgery, I have been through the replacements of mitral valve and Aortic valve with mechanical valves, including the fixation of mild atrial appendage. The surgeries were performed by Dr James Edwards. Dr Edwards positive attitude gave me confidence and made me feel quite comfortable prior to a quite complicated surgery. The positive attitude of my Cardiologist and Surgeon: According to my own experiences, throughout this journey of medical treatments, on behalf of me and my husband Satish and son Mayank, I would like to show my gratitude by thanking Dr James Edwards, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, and Dr Richard Yeend my cardiologist. They continuously gave me confidence and made me feel that I was in the right hands - keeping in mind that there is always a chance of things going wrong in any surgery. However, with advanced technology, these procedures are commonly performed these days. The fact that there are examples around of people who have been through these procedures and are living a healthy life. Both health professionals demonstrated being compassionate and concerned. During the period of my treatment - Dr Edwards and Dr Yeend have been regularly visiting the ICU and CCU wards of Calvary hospital coordinating with the hospital staff making sure that the things are under control. After almost under a year of my surgery, I feel a completely normal and healthy person again with new mechanical valves on both Mitral, as well as aortal valves. I can't thank enough to Dr James Edwards, Dr Richard Yeend, Dr David Cardone, and their Team to save my life and saving the lives of people suffering from cardiac issues”. My stay at the ICU ward post surgery for approx. a week also has been quite pleasant. A big thank you to the ICU Doctors Dr Tom, Dr Simon and all the very amazing Nursing staff for looking after me so well and making me smile forever. CCU Nursing staff Lead Kirsten and her team have been wonderful. Cailin Alaxander at Reception at the time has been another good experience. She communicated well and organised the help when needed. (I took this long to write this note as I had lost the names of some staff. I am still missing on mentioning some incredible people). The New Calvary Adelaide is neat and clean. Ambience is beautiful. Food and rooms are amazing. The staff have been wonderful and the facilities incredible. Thank you all doctors, staff Calvary Management and everyone again. I chose to go to the ED at Calvary to hopefully eliminate some waiting times. Whilst my issues weren’t life threatening and I understand many people had more serious issues than me - some communication would have been good in the first hour and a half of waiting. We got into the treatment area quickly and thought this was going to be a breeze but then were left for a very long time with no communication even as to where toilets were. It took 1.5 hours just to even get the basics done - temperature before a doctor finally first saw me. Once the doctor saw me and took some blood etc it was then another 2 hours before anyone came back to us. I know they were understaffed as many are but it was a bit like we were invisible. The actual area was as comfortable as I could imagine an ED could be and we had our own tv to watch if we wanted. I ended up staying overnight in the ED as there were no beds to be admitted- this was ok and reasonably quiet as I was in an overflow area. The staff were responsive if I asked for something but I had to be proactive and ask for things or it didn’t happen. Overall an ok experience but a few things could be improved- mainly communication re what to expect once in a treatment area, checking in to see if things are ok, letting People know where toilets etc are if needed. My husband asked after a few hours if we could get some food from the vending machine in the waiting area and then found there was an area we could’ve got some refreshments - again would’ve been nice to know especially for those accompanying patients.

I attended emergency after suffering for four days with really intense pain. I suffer from endometriosis. However I never have a flare up that lasts longer than a day, so we thought it best to go to hospital to be safe. The service from Dr Mark Fuidge was appalling. Training needs to be given to the emergency doctors on how to treat women with pelvic pain. The anxiety that incurs for an endo woman to actually attend hospital is next level- which is why it took me four days to actually attend. We are constantly treated like it is psychological or we are drug seekers. Which can’t be further from the truth. We attend hospital because we are scared. Because the pain is so out of control we don’t know what to do. Dr Mark Fuidge gave the usual judgemental diagnosis of there’s nothing I can do. There wasn’t an ounce of empathy in him- he basically told me it was psychological. Despite ruptured cysts showing up on the CT scan AND this was AFTER speaking with my surgeon who would have confirmed I have endometriosis. This cycle of psychological abuse from doctors is exhausting. Who attends a private emergency, outlays all that money for a good time?! Fast forward a couple of days later and I’m still in pain. Going for further investigation today with doctors who actually treat you with respect.

Checked in to Calvary Wakefield orthopaedic for full hip replacement. Arrived at 7am and after being checked in promptly there was no waiting around. Once in recovery staff were nothing short of fantastic. Once taken up to a lovely clean room with nice views I was taken care of by great staff and a very special shout out to Liz who is one of the hardest working caring nurses I have ever met. Rooms could do with small fridges to store drinks . On the down side although the food is ok that’s where it ends I couldn’t eat half of it as it was bland and veggies very over cooked, I feel they would do well to introduce a healthy eating option for those who care about what goes into their body. Generally ok clean and tidy. Check out was a nightmare advised I would be leaving at 10am as the pick up drop off is only 5 minutes wait maximum I advised my ride of the collection time over an hour later still no release as paperwork had not been completed this was frustrating to say the least as my release time and date had been clear from the onset. As parking and drop off/ collection times are paramount in this vicinity this needs to be addressed.

Where do I start …. My mum was scheduled to have surgery at 10am and I understand delays can happen but she was not told at all why she sat in waiting, till 2pm she said they just kept passing by her, she was only due a local anaesthetic and they hadn’t allowed her to eat, they shaved the wrong leg on ward and she told them this but either they didn’t believe her or couldn’t be bothered going to check the details properly as she was right and had to have the correct leg shaved before theatre. I rang all day to find out how she was to which they just kept saying ring back later, getting told all sorts of things they couldn’t even tell me if she was alive and yes I asked this cause I was really concerned, my favourite one was sorry I haven’t had a hand over yet, how many shift changes do they have in a day. Finally after wanting to put in a official complaint they had someone personally go and find out, 5:30pm they rang me to rudely make sure I knew they were near my mum. If they were that heartless towards me on the telephone how did they really treat my mum. For a private hospital it’s disgusting.

I can’t believe it just happened on my husband today in your emergency department. He is 39.7 ˚C ,his left leg lost feeling and breathless due to heavy cellulitis. Your staff tested his temperature with an inaccurate thermometer, we ask her to change a better one retest it again, omg, she said there is no more thermometer available! Can you imagine there is only one inaccurate thermometer in a hospital emergency room ?My husband just get a panadol in nearly 1h waiting, which we already told them did not work on cellulitis at all. No more any other support, just let us keep waiting because you think he is ok with your inaccurate thermometer. Depending on this situation, we went to RAH, and their staff said his situation is emerging at first time, he got professional treatment immediately with no wasting time on waiting. In your emergency room, we just felt be ignored and your staffs are unprofessional, You're playing with patients' lives.

The nursing staff are probaly the best of any hospital, just wonderful. However i was very cross after calling reception to check on my husbands progress on his surgery. The receptionist was so incredibly rude. Here i am very anxious and when i asked after his welfare, my response that i got was verbatim" well he didn't go in to surgery till after12.20 and the operation is 245 minutes" she responded in such an abrupt way. When i asked what time would you suggest i call back, i was told , with a audible sigh," well after 245 minutes. " and what time would that be( by this time i was fuming), about 4.30. Then when he is on the ward, everytime the tea trolley came along, he was not asked would you like some morning or afternoon tea with your cuppa? No he had to actually ask. Not hard to ask a patient surely. The meals delicious, the nursing staff abd cleaning staff, top rate.

My Mum was taken to Calvary Adelaide Hospital end Last week, I was happy with the Nursing and Medical Staff and the care she received, but I can't say much for the Emergency Department. Ok the cubicles are large and roomy, but they have No Doors on them and only the Curtains to add privacy. Calvary Hospital Board spent all that money on a nice new building and did not put any doors on the Emergency Department Cubicles. Sick Patients and their Families having to endure endless voice and noise pollution, all those bells and buzzers going off and no one turning them off. Spend some more money and please fix this problem. Was also happy they fed my mother while she waited in ED. Paid $430.00 to use the Emergency Department. She was transported to Calvary Adelaide, because Royal Adelaide Hospital was not taking Ambulances.

The reason we choose to pay the $400+ costs associated with an outpatient visit to the emergency department of the Calvary Adelaide Hospital is due to the efficient service we receive upon arrival with minimal waiting times and promptly having all the necessary tests completed. On our visit recently to the Emergency Department on Easter Sunday, the Emergency Department delivered in this aspect. However due to a lack of communication between admin and nursing staff, our experience was marred over unnecessary waiting times which was frustrating for both patient and family members. I would recommend further up skilling in the process of nurse shift changes which could also include admin staff at reception to ensure that all parties are communicated in a timely manner on patient progress and collection.

Terrible hospital and terrible doctors. We paid $900 and the doctors didn't see us Requested for my doctor to see me and he was in the hospital, but I was left alone. I felt abandoned even though I am a private patient. Dr McDonald did not come and see me about my bulging spinal disc. Dr Moey did not come and see me despite him being the doctor who injected me with botox to help my nerve pain. I was at the hospital for a week and they were both working so there is no excuse! I would rate this hospital 0 if I could! There were little to no gluten free or dairy free food options. Need more dessert options. Lunch and afternoon tea are far too close together. Nurses didn't listen to dietary requirements and kept offering gluten and dairy options despite being told about my food allergies

Post open heart surgery my wife is in her early stages of recovery at home for a leaking heart valve. She had Dr James Edwards ( recommended by many people as one of the best in Adelaide) as her surgeon and Dr David Cardone as the anesthetist. Dr Luan Huynh was the cardiologist and I cant speak more highly of these guys for such an important process. They were totally professional and put myself and my wife at ease through the whole process. I would thoroughly recommend this team for anyone considering having open heart surgery. The ICU and recovery nurses were brilliant as well so thanks to the whole team at Calvary Adelaide for fixing my wife's heart. Myself and my wife are eternally grateful hence the 5 star rating.

I presented there today hoping to get some peace of mind about a medical condition at 5 am in the morning. I paid $400 odd dollars which is fine. I had the worst experience with one of the specialist ER doctors. who basically told me i might have something seriously wrong and to see a specialist. Not happy with that response and the fact I had to ask him to do a physical. I left and went to Ashford and paid another $400 and got a thorough examination from a Dr with 36 years experience. I was not doctor shopping but i have anxiety and the specialist er doctor at the Calvary could not have cared less. Ashford is the gold standard for medical care. Just my experience and yes i have fed this back.

Have to agree with Jack Gnoff, called to confirm my check in time, phone was answered by young man who was more intent on speaking to another staff member at the time, no formal greeting, just can you hold, on hold 20 mins so called back, this time young lady answered, again no formal greeting, just casual why are you calling kind of attitude, think the switchboard phone call etiquette needs some tidying up. In saying that have been in the hospital for 10 days between surgery and rehab ward, and the care has been awesome, the food certainly not typical hospital food either, very tasty and appealing. Would definately recommend this hospital.

  • Lana

Covid screened at the front and given a visitors pass to see my dad, get up to his room and told I cant go in because of their 1 visitor per day rule due to "covid"... after minutes of arguing with the ward clerk who severely lacks empathy I was granted a strict 10 minutes to see him. I am no mind reader, how was I to know he had already had a visit? Maybe 1 visitor per day that is not immediate family would be more fair.... how sad to deny a daughter visiting their very ill parent? Absolutely disgusting, I could have wonder around the hospital all day if I wanted to with their covid rules but can't see my dad? Make that make sense.

A nice hospital, and I was looked after during my surgery on 25 Jul 2023. However sometime during the night and the morning of 26 Jul, my wedding ring and another rather expensive ring which were both in a ziplock bag, sitting on the tray table, were taken. Now I can't possibly imagine Calvary employing someone incompetent enough to think that it was just rubbish, so I'm forced to come to the other conclusion. I appreciate the staff that tried thier best to locate my rings (checked rubbish bins, kitchen etc), but it should never of happened. I'll be going back to Ashford next time, even if I have to wait.

  • Craig Evans

Terribly rude and incompetent medical staff today. A simple task of removing a pierced earring stud backing. Terrible patient care and professionalism. Seriously first a visit to a local medical clinic with two Drs. going for it, then a referral to this hospital and two rude nurses, a grossly ineffectual Dr. all pulling and shoving and then "We won't charge you, you should go to the Royal Adelaide, they might have the right tool". In a hopeful last ditch effort we went to see Mary at Essential Beauty, Unley, all done in under two mins with love and care....imagine if this had been a serious issue?

  • David Pham Le

The most horrendous hospital visit I have ever experienced. I can't fathom for just simple operation could even get this bad. Had to wait 20 mins for the admin staff to finished their paperwork and admitted me to the emergency department. Abysmal nursing experience. I got needled 4 times just to find the vein to take my blood, The 2nd time blood was spilling everywhere and it hurt so much. Also in between the 2nd amd 3rd time, they watched soccer for 30 mins, laughing and gossiping. Ridiculously, one of them even forgot where my blood samples were and had to call the lab to check.

  • Sonia Bishop

My elderly mother had to come here for a hip replacement, due to the ramping at Flinders 3 weeks ago. Talk about silver linings! The staff are absolutely lovely and geniunely caring. The hospital itself is modern, bright and warm. Very comfortable. The food is nice and plentiful - for a fussy eater my mother's plate was generally clean when we visited. For someone who can be a whinger, they wasn't much for her to complain about here lol. The cafe on ground floor is great too with nice coffee and food. Would definately recommend to anyone, especially for orthopedic surgery.

  • Terence Carter

Went to visit a friend after surgery at a later time in the evening. Was told by a nurse she didn’t know who the patient was, plus made several lies about why I couldn’t see them. when she had earlier let in a previous friend to visit 30 minutes earlier. Went the next day to speak to the ‘head of nurses’ Chris ( a woman) to speak about me potentially being racially profiled, to which she brushed it off and acted like she didn’t even know who the nurse was, and I was talking crazy.. very disappointed and wonder if this happens often. Will avoid this place in the future.

  • Peter Bayly

Administration is a shambles. E-admission form is filled with unnecessary questions like "do you have arthritis " . Stop smoking date requires aa/bb/0000 on a calender. Seniors health details not accepted but phone call needed to be told do that on the day. Phone call puts you in long queue and email offered bounced after 4 days. Promised receipt of successful submission never arrived. Hours wasted. Anaesthetist gathered all essential details on a phone questionnaire in a few minutes.

  • Sean Keightley

Starting with the positives, Cardiac ward nurses & doctors were amazing I really can’t praise them enough. Food portions & variety was really good. The porters, cleaners & kitchen crew were great. Unfortunately I had two not so nice nurses in ICU, ironically since it’s the one place where you need a little extra care. I didn’t feel comfortable complaining since I didn’t want to risk further issues. All said I gave them 5 stars because the good far outweighs the not so good.

  • Helen Zarnke

Had knee surgery here a couple of weeks ago. Was in Potter Ward. Food was fantastic and big serves. Easy to order on Ipad by the bed. Nursing staff were mostly fabulous, special shout out to Courtney who looked after me so well as did all the nurses. Doctors were all amazing, my surgeon Dr Allen came everyday to see me. Bed was comfortable. All staff from Doctors down to cleaning staff were respectful and professional. Wonderful hospital. Keep up the great work team!

  • Lilly

My dad was scheduled for a knee replacement and came back to his room only to be told that they have lost all of his luggage to get him through the next five days. His phone, wallet and clothes are missing and they aren’t taking responsibility for it being lost. They also brought someone else’s luggage into the room claiming it was his then took it away with no explanation. Absolutely infuriating especially for a procedure that has taken a toll on him. Very poor.

Ambulance took my husband to ED having had severe, out of control pain episodes. He was 3 weeks post prostatectomy surgery. He was discharged from ED with heavy pain killers and told to take them when he feels an episode of pain which happened at home that night and was awful to witness. He was admitted at St Andrews Hospital the following day with severe pain, swelling of limbs and under the care of very experienced doctors who care about their patients.

  • Lizzy Davey

I cannot thank the entire Emergency team enough for their prompt, professional and exceptional medical care given to me last weekend. Thank you Dr Saggu for treating me quickly and correctly - in my experience many doctors do not understand the risks of incorrectly treating cat bites! Dr Saggus knowledge, kindness and treatment plan put me immediately at ease. All the nursing and administration staff were empathetic, and professional. Thank you so much!

  • Paige Hayward

My 82 year old mother just got out of this hospital and her whole experience was dreadful and it wasn’t the first time this happened. The majority of nurses were rude and disrespectful and the food was dreadful. She couldn’t even get a decent cup of tea. It is hard to believe this is a private hospital! The duty of care is just not there. I’ve told her she should avoid this hospital in the future. I could go on but this post would end up being an essay.

  • Annette Niven

Attended the Emergency Dept last week and was thoroughly impressed with the efficiency and friendliness of all staff at the Calbery. Dr Clive was a breath of fresh air compared to other ED Drs we have had to visit prior to this. He actually listened to the patient's concerns & symptoms and provided a course of action rather than just administering pain relief drugs and sending the patient home. Thank you Dr Clive and the Calvery Hospital Team!

  • F F

Emergency department Very very slow considering the Amount you have to pay it’s a joke!! Waited in a wheelchair and staff didn’t even ask me if I needed help It may have been quicker at the RAH!! Waited over 2hrs then they decided to ask if I needed an ice pack!! Still not being seen. Definitely not excellence in 24/7 emergency care. 24 beds 1 doctor this is a disgrace and they charge you over $400 for this appalling service.

  • Jason D

Calvary Adelaide cared for my mum for a week while she was admitted due to a severe infection. I have nothing but praise for all the staff I encountered here. The doctors, nurses, cleaners, reception staff. The food was also great and my mum enjoyed her meals. I felt great peace of mind here, as I felt the staff genuinely did care for my mum. She wasn't treated like just a number. I am so grateful to the staff in Hynes ward.

  • Shane Cook

5 stars are an understatement. This is how all hospitals should be. I unfortunately had to check myself into the Emergency department yesterday as I was quite sick. I was promptly seen to by the triage nurse and taken through into the ED where I was met by staff who were incredible from start to finish. The entire ED was spotlessly clean, very modern and up to date. This is exactly what healthcare in Australia should be.

  • NIKITA BEATTY

Appalling - SA Health Minister needs to take a look at how these people treat patients both former and new. I have been stuffed around for the last 12 months, booking procedures, just to be called the night before from them to cancel it. The ladies in Admissions are always rude on the phone and the Health Fund Department needs an overhaul. You are dealing with people's lives here - have some respect and do your job

  • Nikki

This is an update - Have had contact from the head nurse and doctor's rooms and the situation has been addressed to my satisfaction - thankyou. 5 days after an operation at this place not only have they sent me home before I was ready to do so, but I have also had zero contact and after care from them. Not one follow up phone call, no after care instructions were given to me. Nothing !!!! My GP is appalled.

  • Kym Bertola

I have been an inpatient at Calvary Adelaide a few times, also currently an inpatient. Staff have been fantastic, facilities are great and despite having food allergies, I still get great options for my meals. I never get such nice food options at other hospitals as I have here. Hospital is never an enjoyable experience but having such a warm and caring environment just makes it so much nicer. Thank you

  • Chris Abbott

My mum was taken into emergency there yesterday and the whole process was so efficient and smooth. The Dr looking after my mum was absolutely amazing and all the staff were fantastic. This new facility has all the latest equipment and the emergency is 24 hrs. The main hospital has 12 floors and looks fantastic. A huge step up from the old hospital. #LetsGuide #medical #hospital #healthcare #adelaide

Nothing short of amazing staff both when I had my day surgery a bit over a week ago and again in their ER department. All staff from reception, triage nurse, ward nursing staff and Doctors are a credit to their profession and the Hospital itself. Never a "pleasant" time to be in hospital but with staff and the facilities in this hospital are second to none and make it all so much more tolerable.

  • Mark Bowden

Excellent staff at the emergency service. Mother broke her hip, x-ray soon after then straight to surgery with one of top specialists. She seems well care for. When I was in the waiting room, I've asked where I can get coffee. This kind young woman with long dark hair behind the counter offered me a nice coffee. Their professional approach and manners will not be forgotten.

  • David Vorst

I was admitted for a Day procedure - colonoscopy and the Colorectal Surgeon Dr Eteuati and the Gasser were great and the nursing staff excellent. The facility is amazing and clearly a lot of thought has gone into design. I have worked in hospitals and health systems for 43 years and both the staff and facility by far the best I have experienced. Thank you

  • Mez

Excellent, professional and outstanding service from emergency last evening. From front desk staff to nurse Adam and then to Dr Alison Kent I couldn’t be more grateful for the exceptional care I received. They followed right through from scans & bloods with forwarding ongoing referrals, and so on. Out of pocket fee worth every cent. Thank you!

  • Greg Finlayson

Not service oriented or respectful of others' time and comfort. Told to arrive for admission at 2:30 waited until 3:15 for admission clerk. Then told to wait until 3:45 for surgery no staff at reception its now 430. Jetstar communication skills. No one to assist or inform. Not happy with the mandatory collection of racial and religious data.

  • Richard Semmens

Went in for a day visit to have my teeth removed. I can't rate this place more highly. The nurses were all extremely nice and helpful. The hospital was clean and efficient. I even get a tv while I wait around for the operation. Iwas provided with an electric wheelchair to move from admissions, as I cannot walk far. 10/10.

  • James Drew

Sleep was impossible with the permanent night light and incessant (and ostensibly non-work related) chitchat at the nursing station courtesy of the Reynolds night shift. There was an unreasonable delay in processing discharge documents. Otherwise a positive experience. (If possible I would have rated 3 1/2 stars.)

  • lyall wiseman

Very happy to have gone to this hospital. Staff, especially the nurses were a step above any I have experienced before. No pain, no stress and no anxiety. Absolutely "not" treated like a number in a bed. Thank you for the kindness and information afforded us during my stay. Kind Regards Lyall and Carly.

  • Daniel Preece

Hi there, let me just that the staff at Calvary Adelaide hospital were fantastic very professional and really friendly polite and what ever you needed they would get it for you.. To everyone who looked after me during my stay only a short time I thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.

  • Katherine Bradley

The care I experienced within Calvary, especially from the staff on the Potter Ward, was absolutely outstanding. The room and facilities were also fantastic. Thank you, Calvary, you did a great job and whilst I'm happy to have left and be home it's not because I didn't like being there.

  • MrRex1945

If you are looking for an Eye Specialist, you cannot go past Dr. G Pietris at the Calvary Hospital. He has looked after and treated my eye problems for a number of years, and I highly recommend him. His manner and expertise are beyond reproach. Well done to him and his reception staff.

I’ve heard the facilities are good & the staff are kind. However, I’m trying to call the hospital at 5.30pm to find out how my sisters operation went & nobody is answering! It keeps hanging up when I select switchboard. Not even the ED is answering. I can’t find out how she is . …

  • Mr. Firebeard

I genuinely can't fault anything at this hospital. All the staff here are incredible and really go the extra step to make sure you feel as comfortable as possible. Thankyou to all the doctors and nurses who took care of me during a difficult time, I'll always be great full.

  • Jane-Marie Pfeiffer

My Mum spent 5 and half weeks in Calvary recently and we couldn't fault the service. Visiting her every day we got to experience the hospital staff and services too. 5 star rating from us. The staff, food and facilities were like being in a 5 star hotel. A great hospital.

  • G R Carbone

Very helpful and professional, they care about people. They are upfront about fees and charges and they treat their patients with respect. If you want real care and answers about your health issues visit Calvary Adelaide. You won't be turned away without proper answers.

  • Irma lola

im rating 1 star just for a receptionist at Dr Boon Tans office. She was aloof and unfriendly. I asked her few questions about the doctor and what he does she barely opened her mouth. She was more interested in making herself cup of coffee ignoring me. Horrible

  • Mark Foyle

My wife is in Emerg still after 24 hours. No bed. Wait times are no different to a public hospital - for the $400 Emerg fee not covered by private health or Medicare , Calvary you need to lift your service that your clients pay for or make your Emerg free .

  • K Clift

Extremely slow pace for literally everything.. but hands down wonderful, caring and compassionate nurses. I was looked after well over my one night stay after surgery. Also had a delicious roast lunch & they catered to my lactose intolerance quite well.

  • Val Teague

Great hospital went to xray department inside hospital great staff very friendly and professional easy to talk to, was there for quite some time, during which I found a lovely cafe inside hospital on ground floor great coffee and food good selection

  • Michelle McKenzie

Yesterday I had a plate installed in my wrist. With a few complications towards to end. Thank you so much for looking after me. Could not ask for better care. Absolutely beautiful people. To my Surgeon. Thank you so much for the on going support.

  • Nikkii

From the moment I walked in all the staff were incredibly helpful and understanding of my fears of hospitals and surgery. Thank you to all the staff for taking care of me and especially to the lovely nurse that held my hand in the operating room.

  • Ernest Hoskin

This hospital has been the worst facility my wife has ever been admitted to. Most of the nurses did their best to care for her, however, there were some who ignored or delayed her calls for pain relief or assist her toileting by leaving her

  • John Ochoa

Absolutely disgraceful, brought my 12 year old with a dislocated shoulder and hurt neck.... to the emergency and after 30 mins of him in crazy pain they tell me that they can't accept him because he is not vaccinated.... eject us and give

  • Josh Witham

Recovery nurses sent me home after day surgery with a drip needle still in my elbow. Only realised when I got home, and had to remove it with the hand of the arm that had just been operated on. Never going there for anything ever again.

Dr James Leydon needs to go back to uni, as a " neurologist'he was completely useless, he refused to take my sister on as a patient , would not even review her medication & I faxed before hand every mri, eeg, medical history, hospital

  • Jan Lynch

Just visited my son after neurosurgery. Cannot rate this place high enough. Every one I have spoken to in the last couple of days could not have been more helpful. His nurse (Steven in Connory ward) was lovely and very considerate.

  • Jack Gnoff

Spoke to "Tanya" from the switchboard today. Love, if you don't want to work there anymore then retire. Let someone who actually needs and wants a job be there! Rude as! Worse customer service. Didn't even advise she was going to

  • Patrick McCarthy

Hi Everyone, I just want to thank everyone who I saw today, the care and time they took was just beyond amazing, the care, absolute kindness and Pure professionalism made things all the better, thankyou for everything …

  • Vi

Kathryn or catherine in the Hynes ward was incredibly dismissive and rude. most of the other staff are great. the ones that are great are super great the ones that are dismissive and rude make the stay incredibly unpleasant

  • Shuo TIAN

Excellent and caring service from the nurse. She is nice and warm, and offered me with hot coffee, sandwich and yogurt. Doctor gave advice quickly and in a soothing tone which I like. Professional reception service.

  • marty holmes

Have been attending the Calvary for a year now with spinal nerve compression. Have been having tests done, getting nowhere. Have had to go to another private surgeon. He made an assessment straight away for surgery.

  • Geoff Matters

Enjoyed my stay at the hospital as best you can in a hospital. I found all the staff really nice, helpful and couldn’t do enough for me. Only down was the breakfasts, but even they were ok . Thanks to you all …

  • Ella Jovanovich

I went in yesterday for wisdom teeth surgery with Dr. Carter and everyone was so nice and helpful. All nurses were lovely and made me feel safe despite me being very nervous. Would 100% recommend this hospital.

  • Rohit Bishnoi

Worse in communication, applied for jobs so many time but never ever got any response from anyone, I can not understand if you are not going to reply to anyone then what is the point of advertising the job.

  • Chris Cassells

I am currently in here. I can't fault Calvery Adelaide. A lovely modern, clean hospital. Staff wonderful, comfy bed and the food is good. I am confident that I am recieving a high standard of care.

  • jon may

50% nurses excellent and very helpful. Other 50% very poor and not interested . I am sure many busy but not all. Several occasions I was left in situations that should not be in a private hospital.

Very disappointed with the care my 81 y.o. mother received. I spoke to several hospital nurses who were dismissive & never followed up anything. Poorly run place.
