If you need to rent a car fast and easy then this it the place to go. We requested the rental only a few days in advance and the price was negotiable. But if you want your car to have a functioning spare tyre and tools to change it then I recommend you check somewhere else. When we got the car the tyres were totally worn out, flat and after some days one even broke down. Luckily we were in Kampala and the tyre could be changed within half a day. The mechanic ended up changing three of the tyres. At least one person with reason.The break fluid was also at its bare minimum so we had to fill that up. The communication was always fast, but I did have to confirm pick up location and time and time three times. Be it cultural differences or laziness but I think I am not asking for too much when I expect a company to at least write down does information when receiving them instead of asking over and over again.

Rented a RAV4 and was assured upfront that it was in a good condition. Well, to mention the main concerns: the speedometer did not work, neither did the temperature gauge, the air-conditioning was ineffective, a mechanic confirmed a wiring problem as there is a constant ping-ping noise when the engine is switched off, the wheels were out of balance, the vehicle did not have much power, and the last 2 days a very strange engine noise developed so I hope it is the last trip this vehicle undertakes. Most concerning is that they gave 2 women travellers a vehicle in such bad shape to drive across Uganda for 17 days. The only plus point was that it had good tyres. We only realised much of this on day one and of course there was no time to get a replacement without jeopardizing all the reservations already paid for on the trip.

Rented ‘the beast’ here. It was a very old car, the rear door could not be opened from the start. We complained about it and they could fix it, but it would take several hours and we were on a tight schedule as you are not able to drive after 7pm. We therefore had to put all the bags on the backseat. Also, the tires are not balanced, the car starts shaking from 80 km, airconditioning button does not work properly, front window leaks and chairs are getting wet in case of rain, right door light was always on on the dashboard even if the door was closed properly, one of the head lights did not work and wipers were not in good shape. Overall, it did the job but was overpriced and not in good shape.

Rented a landcruiser Prado for 4 weeks and drove right around the whole of Uganda. Loved the country and the car ('the tank') took us everywhere. The car was priced competitively when compared to others. Lawrence was our contact with Car Rental Uganda and he was very responsive and kind. The car was somewhat older, but that increases repairability when out in the field. When we had a mechanical issue, it was dealth with professionally. We got weather and road condition updates from Lawrence and we could let him know about road conditions as well. Good to know when venturing into the northern reaches of Uganda.

If there was a negative star I would award it to Car Rental Uganda. I called, made a reservation, replied to an email, and the amazingly ridiculous "service provider" 1. Did not send a vehicle; 2. Claimed I didn't reply to the email, and then claimed I didn'the confirm; 3. Gave me different rates for a vehicle rental; 4. Proceeded to deny me the service because I "dared" complain about the inefficiency, and inconsistency. So save yourself the disappointment of being left stranded at the airport by seeking an alternative service provider. I would not recommend their services to anyone.

I cannot recommend Car Rental Uganda highly enough! They have been superb with us all trip. They were thoroughly professional with the booking, transparent with the prices, flexible with working around our needs and really supportive when we needed additional assistance with our border crossings. So far, they've gone above and beyond at least 3 times. The vehicle we rented has been great too - super comfortable and great for exploring East Africa. Thank you guys for making this such a great trip!

I was nervous renting a car in Uganda but all was fine. Booking on email very efficient, Airport pick up and drop off fine, the RAV 4 while well used performed perfectly for 10 days and about 500 miles. Seat belts, Aircon, lights etc etc all good. We had a flat tyre and change was straight forward jack, wheel brace was all there. Cost 5000 ugs (£1.20) to have repaired ;-) Would recommend Car Rental Uganda to anyone.

I rented a RAV4 to drive from Jinja to Sipi Falls and then back to Kampala. The Car Rental Uganda team were very quick to respond to questions. They dropped the car off on time to my place in Jinja (for a small fee) and picked it up for free from my hotel in Kampala. The car worked perfectly.
