"I’m a big fan of Carmines"
"Just rating 5 stars, but I don’t believe this restaurant needs my rating! Within an authentic old Italian atmosphere, this restaurant exceeded my expectations! From the gentleman helping you with the door at the entrance to the waiters and the food, I could not ask for more!! Wether it is with your family, friends or in a group, you’ll enjoy every minute in this place"
"I have been part of a large theater group for many years and we all eat at Carmine’s for a pre theater dinner , it’s part of the tradition 3-4 times a year! Our waiter, Joe, deserves a special shout out, our bus was delayed , but he handled our large group and got our food out in a timely manner, cheerfully and expertly dividing and serving the family style portions"
I left in tears, not happy ones. Let me start by saying that last time I was here was over 15 years ago when I lived in NYC. Back then my experience and the food was so amazing! I came down from MA with my son and husband 15 yrs later. I reserved in advance the only time they had available, 3:15 pm on a Friday. I was so excited that I didn't care what time we got in, as long as I could now share this great place with my family. We spent $217 and left an 18%tip. Only because both my husband and I worked in the restaurant industry for MANY years. Our server did not smile. He checked up on us twice. To take our order and to ask if we wanted desert, that was it. We ordered 2 quartinos of wine, 1 red, 1 white. We didn't like either one, but since our server never checked in, we flagged down the host. We asked him for a recommendation for a bottle. He said he would bring a taste of one and told the server to bring it, he brought it. Never came back, no wine for us I guess. When our salad came we had no plates. I waited and nothing. I flagged the server down and asked for a plate for the salad, he brought ONE. I had to ask another server who I guess saw my 'what's going on here' face, and asked if I needed something. I explained that I needed 2 more plates. One for my husband and 1 for my son. I had to ask for bread please, which was not brought either, nor asked if we wanted or not. Got the side eye on this one. The food came, 3 plates for 3 people. Because we knew we were gonna take stuff home for the rest of the family. we ordered penny Alabama and it was not good, Just plain and regular. mind you? I worked at an Italian restaurant for 4 years, a genuine Italian restaurant. We also ordered ravioli's. Those were really, really good. We ordered a plate of salmon. The salmon was overcooked, it was almost white, so not the best. The Caesar salad was very good. We would have ordered coffee sambuca and tiramisu. But the night had gone so wrong that I just wanted to get out of there. we had told the waiter that my husband was allergic to shellfish. the salmon has muscles and clams, which my husband can't eat because he is only allergic to a crustacean. when the server was picking up our plates to bring us the check. He actually told my husband " I thought you were allergic to shellfish". Which is kind of not such a nice conversation starter after we finished and is kinda rude ( I'm being nice here) plus if he knew that my husband was allergic to shellfish and thought that clams and muscles were a no go. Why did he bring them in the first place? Smaller details: I asked for anchovies on the side for my salad, never got them, and my son ordered a Shirley Temple and it didn't have a cherry (for a kid this is a big deal). Small details that should not be missed. When we were leaving I told the hostess how bad it was. She called over someone, maybe the manager, which happened to be the one I asked about the wine. Almost in tears, I repeated the story. He said something along the lines of I'm sorry that's not what we strive for here. And that was that. What a disappointment. I am so sad and mad at the same time. I hope our server is OK and there is nothing MAJOR going on in his life. But I wish it could have been better. I will not recommend Carmines ever again. :(

Wow this place was truly amazing! The dishes are true Family style! HUGE plates of food, the dishes the sauces the flavors unbelievable. My husband and I went last night for our 7 year anniversary and it was just so cool so old and nostalgic and very busy even on a Monday night! That says a lot about a restaurant… Please be mindful when I tell the dishes are huge it’s shareable atleast for 4 people for one meal. Anyways my husband and I ordered the chicken parmigiana, the lasagna which was the best because my husband and I are Muslim we ( don’t eat pork) and every Italian spot always has pork in almost everything so when we got told the lasagna was made with beef and veal.. we were so excited and happy to finally be able to try lasagna then I had the Sicilian soda the pomegranate flavor which was okay not the best wouldn’t try it again then for dessert we had the strawberry shortcake with homemade whipped cream and strawberries with pistachios and marble pound cake soaked in strawberry purée! WOW DELICIOUS!!!! Overall it was a great experience and environment definitely highly recommended!

They have a parking garage that’s a 2 min walk and it’s for carmines at the end of dinner you get a sticker on the ticket then you pay a set price for the parking which was nice.
I’m a big fan of Carmines. Been to this one more times then I’d cared to admit. As well as the Atlantic City location. I made reservation for a group of 5 for dinner service. Reservations at 8:30pm. A MUST for me is their porterhouse steak. What a disappointment to be told that they were DIDN’T have any I think she said they were sold out. So we ordered a Caesar salad and three different chicken plates with pasta we had drinks from the bar and we finished it with a tugboat. My bill was around $500 depending on my service I’ll tip anywhere between 20-25% What made this visit distasteful was the lack of service. Our waitress was friendly, but not tentative. We lacked a few things throughout our dinner service. And no staff to be able to request our missing items. Our waitress, had a large birthday party table that required all her attention, and therefore mismanage ours. So not only am I disappointed because I can’t get the food I had my heart set on. We received bare minimum service. Honestly, I feel the staff put more attention on the table since their tip was guaranteed based on the number of guest. BIG MISTAKE!! HIGHLY Highly disappointed!!

From the gentleman helping you with the door at the entrance to the waiters and the food, I could not ask for more!! Wether it is with your family, friends or in a group, you’ll enjoy every minute in this place. With a nice and varied list of wines, the food was the center piece! Amazing truly authentic Italian cuisine served in big plates to easily share among 4. In our case one salad plate and a pasta plate fed us 4 and couldn’t finish it! As such, the price becomes affordable and you get great tasty Italian meal There are a number of locations for this restaurant around the area and Im sure they will all exceed your expectations as well Tip: they do not take walk ins, so make sure to make a reservation in their website in advance. Also, as for everything in the area, the business does mot have parking.

Service is very slow, food was average. We had a reservation for 2:45, and despite arriving on time we had to wait 25 minutes because there were no tables available. When we sat down, no waiter bothered to check in with us for a good 10 minutes, and after placing our orders we had to wait another 50 or so minutes for our pasta to arrive. Portion sizes are huge and a bowl of pasta can easily be shared with 4-5 people. That being said, I’ve had much better italian food in other places - you’re better off going to any restaurant in Little Italy. Feels more like a tourist trap like place tbh, I can only recommend this place if you’re going as a large group of 6+ people

My birthday dinner at Carmines nyc was fantastic! My family and I are picky eaters, so it’s a bit of a challenge when going out to eat. Thankfully though, we had the greatest server Hugo, who recommended the most delicious dishes and drinks based on our likings/ restrictions. We had espresso martini’s and rum runner’s for the table along with fried calamari, shrimp scampi, penne alla vodka, carbonara pasta, and a strawberry shortcake to top it all off. Genuinely speaking, this is the best Italian dinner we’ve ever had and I wasted no time recommending this place to my coworkers & friends. Will definitely be returning. Thank you Carmines and thank you Hugo for being the best!!!

I love it here! The food was great as usual! If you come for lunch, be sure to ask for the lunch menu. Same food items, smaller (but still shareable) portions at a lesser price point. I showed up with a cranky toddler and the host, Calvin, was so accommodating. The service was slow to start. I waited at the table for about 15 mins without any water which was disappointing. I come here a lot so I know that’s not the norm but that was my most recent experience. Overall, go to Carmine’s for good food, and bring all your family and friends because they definitely have the space to accommodate.

The great thing is that if you can’t find parking you can park it at a parking garage that has a promotion going on when you dine with carmine you get a discount off your parking.
We came there for my daughter’s 18th Birthday. We were seated right away. Our server was very pleasant I have no complaints about her. What I will say is that I witnessed two birthday shouts out that staff participated with full engagement when it came to our table, I witnessed our server having difficulty getting the staff together for our turn and it’s was dry and dull seemed more forced than apart of the experience. I was highly embarrassed and offended and tried to be take it too offensive to blame race/status but the same experience those other customers received wasn’t what we experience whatsoever.

Today was the first time at the Upper West Side location and my family and I were not disappointed. The restaurant has a very nice ambiance and warmth to it. The staff was very friendly, professional, and attentive. The food of course is the real star and man it was delicious! We started with the Mixed Salad which was amazing. The bread basket and olive oil was so flavorful! Then we ordered spaghetti with garlic and oil, chicken cutlet, and chicken with lemon sauce and spinach. All of the food was just out of this world. Will def be back!!!! Next time I hope we save room for dessert!

It’s been a while since I have been to Carmines with my family sometimes we would go around Christmas to the same Upper West Side location. We order the family style with very large portions of tasty Italian eats. The fried calamari is crispy and not chewy. The spaghetti and meatballs have a nice taste of garlic and the Carmines salad is a delicious salad however they add too much dressing.

Wow! This Italian restaurant really made my evening. Food was delicious; taste, texture, spiciness, saltiness, presentation were all on point. Service by Arturo was personalized, friendly and he was at hand to answer questions and make recommendations. Very patient. Ambience at this location was perfect for a cool July evening. As anywhere in NY, parking is an issue. But it was worth it. Would definitely be back.

It was a very busy Friday night in June. Everyonr had a birthdays, graduation and just because for celebration, which made the dining experience challenge. The drinks were just "ok". Had better at the neighborhood bar. The food was great. It always is. But unfortunately the service was slow. Though our hostess took care of us as best she could. They might consider having 2 ppl on a large table.

Everything about this restaurant was stupendous. It's one of my top restaurants listed by far. Also, I was intrigued by the history shown throughout the restaurant. A round of applause to the staff (they worked effortlessly on a busy night) and the chefs FYI: Dish sharing is a plus. Unless you're willing to have leftovers for days.

One of the highlights of our trip! We throughly enjoyed every bite of salad, calamari and the seafood special with rigatoni. Their portion sizes are no joke and a great value in my opinion. Boisterous, loud place but in a good way! The only weird thing is they asked us to pay the bill right after we ordered our food due to a shift change, which I’ve never experienced before. Otherwise service was solid.

Best restaurant ever! Had a party of 4 for dinner and ordered the garlic oil (white) prawn pasta and the garlic oil (white) clam pasta. The servings were massive and the pasta was cooked perfectly with excellent taste. The bill came to around $85 USD for the 2 dishes, however was well worth it. Not only was the food delicious, but the ambiance and service was amazing. This is the best pasta place I've ever eaten at. I definitely recommend this place.

This was one of the best Italian food places I've ever dined at. The portions are amazingly big! The Vodka Sauce Pasta dish was delicious! The salad was tasty and fresh! The variety of included bread was mouth watering. The service was pretty good. I enjoyed my dining experience here and the location was perfect before seeing our Broadway show.
