This review is for the Zone 8 restaurant inside the Casino. FOOD - we've been here a number of times, ordered a number of different entree, and have not found a bad dish! And we're foodies so that's saying a lot. Everything from the Prime Rib to Pho to Joe's Special is made with care and with a lot of flavor. The many specials that is run - Prime Ribs on Thursday and Sunday, Tacos on Tuesday - make the price attractive given the quality of the food. You basically can't go wrong ordering any item on the menu! SERVICE - this is where the restaurant has been a disappointment . With the exception of our last visit, the service quality has been indifferent. From getting our orders wrong, to bringing our food to the wrong table, to letting us sit and wait when it wasn't that busy, the service has been the opposite of the food - consistently poor! But I'm giving the restaurant a 5 star review because of this last visit: we had a new server, I wish I remembered his name, who was so attentive and prompt! He got our order correctly and promptly, and kept checking on how we were doing throughout our meal. If this is the new trend in service then we will heartily recommend Zone 8 to everyone! PARKING - parking is always busy but we've managed to find a spot every time. So be warned but also have patience that you will find a spot.
Prefacing with the fact that this is primarily aimed at the poker “room” but then the casino as a whole. Casino as a whole is decent. Not the largest casino, but I don’t have much reference in the Bay Area as I am from KY. Food is good and drinks are good, but the gambling is subpar; particularly the poker. Dealers and regs are very much in the know with one another. If you’re not a reg, don’t waste your time. I noticed it the first time I came that it’s not fun to sit at the table if you’re not a reg, but tonight sealed the deal. Player got up from the table to go to the restroom and without being in sight from the table was dealt in the next hand. When I made a complaint to the floor the dealer got offended and came after me claiming “well if you left the table and asked me to deal you in I would”. That’s not how poker works on a standard 1/3 table. If you’re not there, you’re not dealt in. Period. Ruins the integrity of the hand, especially when it’s 1/2/3 and three players each have money in the pot to start. Another frustration point was the gentlemen in seat two who was clearly a reg who wasn’t paying attention as he was watching a movie on his phone and the dealers didn’t step in and deal with it it. Each time the action was on him we all had to get his attention to get him to act. Won’t ever play poker here again.
When our family is SUPER HUNGRY & can't decide on what we'd like to eat, we can all agree to come eat HERE. Their menu has a variety of different foods; Sandwiches, Pizzas, Sushi, Pho, Chow Mein, Pastas, Desserts, but for the 1st time we noticed they have a different menu after a certain time, and that menu was a lot smaller. Parking is ok, it's a casino. Our server/waitress tonight was Andrea, service was great. Food didn't take long to come out. Drinks were refreshing, and Andrea did great staying on top of refills, she refilled & replaced before we could even ask for them. Our food tasted DELICIOUS just as we expected it to. My kid got chicken tenders that were a bit hard for her to eat, but Andrea was able to consult with her manager to take it off our bill. I guess they have a different menu after a certain time which is new for us so we decided to just settle with the tenders taken off the bill. The other 3 of us dug in & ate our plates CLEAN. If you love steak you should definitely try the filet mignon sauce over it with mashed potatoes. Portions are more than filling. Tonight would make it about more than 10 times since we've chosen this place this year, and we've yet to be disappointed by anything. PRETTY PRICEY BUT WORTH IT.
Food was very good, service...not so much. When we arrived, there were tables available but had people waiting because the hostess said the waitress for those tables was on break so the wait was 30 minutes. 45 minutes later, I went to ask if our table was ready and finally got sat down at a small round table by the bar while those empty tables were still...well, empty! Our waitress finally came by and we placed our order, then we asked if we could move to a bigger table since there were four of us and we were there to eat, not just appetizers. After a few minutes we were moved to the bigger table. The waitress came to take the order, had a bit of an attitude and did not see her until she brought the check because food runners brought our food. Needless to say we were not impressed with the restaurant. In regards to the lack of servers, a simple fix could've been "I'm sorry we're very busy and we'll get to you in a minute, have a seat and enjoy the game and we'll have someone with you shortly" but instead they kept the tables empty. Even when we were about to leave, people were still waiting and asking why there was a wait if there were empty tables. Unfortunately, they got the same reply! Probably won't go back anytime soon :(
I was there last night with my girlfriend. We had played 2 hours on 4 cards table and we both were playing 2 hands including another player. Out of sudden one drunk guy came and asked to play , dealer mentioned him that there is no spot available. then he brought another dealer from different table, he just asked me to play one hand and my coins were already on the table. He literally took my coins from bet and threw them at me. Finally manager ( idk how she became manager) named Andrea came and started arguing with me. I was like ‘my gf and another white old dude ‘ both playing 2 hands why me? I felt discriminated and disrespected by her. She even said she doesn’t have to answer me. And she asked me to walk away . We go there every week but this is not acceptable. Good luck. I have been looking for contact # to complain about but I can’t find any. She needs more training about customer service and laws as well. Never going back. Thanks to Anthony( bartender ) always took good care of me.
Yes the one other place in this valley that I actually have fun. The other place is Bay101. Although I lose more than I win, I manage to still have a good time. The food is great, the employees are great and TVs? There are plenty. I'm going to run a test of sort. Here's what I want anyone and everyone to do the next time you go to either casino. Go to one of the pai gow tables. Try to find one with plenty of people. Now take any amount and just watch the veteran players, you can tell who they are, and just bet the same way they are. It doesn't have to be the same amount. These people are betting 200+ per hand and winning but so are you with your 40.00 bet. You should come up. If you do then just leave after you get ahead. Let me know how you do. By the way they have a huge parking lot patrolled by golf cart security. Have fun.
Update: This time the poker host was not welcoming, which was a shocker. Edward was cool. He greeted us after we stood there for 10 minutes waiting to put our names in. He was clearly busy unlike a lady staff member who saw us standing there waiting. She made eye contact with us three times and totally ignored us. The sports bar staff was terrible, except for Evelyn. Evelyn was "spot on"; she has a great personality , warm and welcoming! We didn't even gamble that night but that's okay we had a nice dinner at the sports bar! Older review: would have given 5 stars, but because you have to "pay to play" table games; i.e., if you play Blackjack for $10 a hand, you actually pay a total of $11. $10 to Play +$1 to the house. No perks, comps, nada. Food was exceptional. Staff was professional and the ambiance nice.p
Casino Matrix has a sports bar inside and another bar on the casino floor, both of which serve food. This is mainly a food review. Matrix as a variety of food options, most of which are pretty decent. Price has gone up a bit, but still can’t complain. The sushi is served by Sushi Confidential which has locations in Campbell and Downtown San Jose. Lots of options for rolls and they taste pretty good. The tomahawk steak is 40oz, great for 2 people, and the flavor is spot on! Recommend getting the mashed potatoes as a side, not the cauliflower The chicken katsu salad was not mine but it was video worthy and only $10 on wednesdays. Service is usually good, recommend visiting Alexis who works at the bar for the best service
Food is delicious. Many options. See a lot of ppl getting pancakes . I tried the lobster roll , which was phenomenal. Had the house salad . Lemon pepper wings. The pot stickers was delish! CheeseSteak sandwich was a little above expectation but nothing to rave about. Drinks are expensive, so I'd stay clear of that unless it's a beer Cons: The white guy with long hair at the bar seemed to be having a bad day but definitely didn't have hospitality. Very rude & flustered. He did not make it pleasant. They couldn't change the channel. So for an hour straight, we watched the early football game on our phone, ugh even though we had giant TVs with commercials running.
Phenomenal establishment that welcomed me from the parking lot, security was on point to escort folks to the front door. Very clean building inside and out with respectful demeanor from everyone. Lots of tables to choose from to play whatever suits you (pun intended). If you are hungry, be sure to try their delicious food with scrumptious items to choose from. The salmon was cooked perfect, the greens were great, avocado was fresh. The mocktail was also very good (spicy mango with tajin)! Staff was very amicable and readily available to serve us.
Service is horrible. Asked three times for a menu at Ultimate Texas Holdem and never got one. Had to go cash out and go to the Sports Bar for food. Server took our order and never came back. Food arrived (brought out by someone else) but drinks never came. Finally saw the server was on the other side of the restaurant looking at his phone. When we finally got his attention, we had to make sure he took the drinks off the bill. It then took him a long time to run the card. $35 bill. $2 Tip.
As a (bad) poker player, I go to M8trix from time to time. Food is surprisingly good and priced well, especially during happy hour. Great spot to watch the fights. The downside, if you play poker, is the wait times for the tables. The wait is ridiculous if you get there on the weekend after 6:00 p.m... either come early or be prepared to wait a couple hours. I usually plan on eating there before getting a seat. Also the chips could use a wash from time to time:/
This is just for sports bar and grill wow what a great customer service from the bar tender forgot his name but said he worked there for 6 years , very friendly person i really appreciated that. Got a Burger rare it was cook prefect and season well also a cold one a space dust. Diffently coming back for good food and great customer service. Cant wait to try other menu items. Thanks for taking the time to read my short review
Mongolian beef was ok, came out hot. Paratha was only cooked on one side, undercooked on the other. The sauce was way too sweet, instead of savory. Now we had a party of six at the sports bar. It was slow, maybe half the tables were full... It took 45 minutes to get our drinks, after ordering them. Drink service sucked, but the prices are reasonable. Next time sitting at the bar, if there is a next time.
Let me preface by saying this wasn't my first time, and we went for lunch. Service wasn't good, but the greeters and security were super nice. The food exceeded my expectations, and the prices were reasonable (didn't feel overcharged) Only suggestion... instead of limiting customers to a single type of fry in their basket, make a mixed basket consisting of seasoned, tots, and regular fries. IJS
The dealers can be cool sometimes I feel like they are on our side. I love playing blackjack betting on the dealer busting you can go hope with your pockets full. The bar is pretty good they like to keep you tipsy. Gets busy after football games and on weekends later at night. If your super cool high roller you might get invited to private party’s upstairs. Or just be a hot chick.
This isn’t Las Vegas, this isn’t a fine dining restaurant or a sports bar. But this place offers some of all including wide cuisine choices. If you go there expecting slot machines or to fish then you will be disappointed and leave negative review. But if you want good ambiance, decent staff, safe experience and some wide choices of food, then is the place to go.
Only card games. Didnt understand how folks were betting (how does one bet 6x at blackjack). Food in restaurant excellent. Vibe is ok. However, note note note - i saw players winning change and the house winning huge i saw nobody keep their chips at any tables so i didnt play. Lotsa patrons telling us they lose more here than other places definitely witnessed it.
There are many different promotions throughout a week. The chicken wings are overcooked and dry, and the flavor glaze doesn’t apply evenly. The steak is over flavored with salt, but the eggs are excellent. The beer glass is about 20 oz, and it has several cocktail selections. The special prime rib is a good deal with acceptable food quality.
This is a tremendous place to enjoy the football season, eat well-prepared, reasonably priced food (order an end cut of prime rib...mouth-watering!), and the tables are plentiful with great players, patrons and a superb staff. I won an INCREDIBLE amount of money there....seriously!! I'll be headin' back soon...count on it!
What a great restaurant. The club sandwich was excellent along with sushi and all prepared fast as we were on the way to the airport. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. This was a recommendation from one of our frequent travelers for lunch and I can see why. We will definitely be customers again.
This place is very busy yet the staff were all over it! The menu is huge, offering just about every type of cuisine. I was very excited to see Vietnamese food and was not disappointed at all. Very well priced and worth the trip into the casino.
-1 star for the slow service. I sat at the bar for 10 minutes and didn’t even get eye contact for the server… I was called for my table and had to leave. No service arrived for at least 10 more minutes, by that time the happy hour was over
After over 40 min finally got my food. Calamari cold. Pretty sure pieces were still frozen. Nachos came out burnt and cold? How? I dont even know. I ordered it with carne asada and not one piece of meat. I'm sitting here still starving
A great spot for late night food and fun. The menu is quite extensive and the kitchen is open all day and night. You’re bound to find a food option that you like here. Also, the tvs make it a nice place to hang out or to bring a date.
Clean exciting place very good food half price. My favorite house noodles soup only $10 bucks others restaurant over $15-20 Prime rib Thursday and Sunday $20 bucks.Original Joe's close to $50.00 It's heaven on earth. I see you there.
I enjoyed most of night great food and dealers.. need to do something about hecklers at the table that are not playing, though.. Left a winning table because they were so rude felt sorry for the dealer and chip counter
Food is decent and prices are decent too. Many TVs for watching sports along with 2 big screens. Although they usually show the Warriors and not the Sharks on the big screens and I am a Sharks fan more than Warriors.
Brought my coworkers here for Friendsgiving and we had a great time! Our waitress was amazing and if you come for Happy Hour, do! Their portions are big enough for a party of 4. We will be coming back for sure!
Every thing I have done wasn't ever to chase u away it was to reach for any straw I could to keep u.i never wanted u to go away and it sucks being here in love with someone who doesn't even care if I'm alive
We went to their restaurant and chicken wings are good, the hamburger we had it was tasty. There was this guy from jaggermaister givin free shots. We had a great time, casino is huge and enough parking lot.
Plenty of tables and always full. It would be nice to have them on Poker Atlas to reserve a spot on the list. You can call in during certain hours. The staff is super friendly. Some of the dealers are slow.
I have been to this place several times and food never disappoints me. The other important aspect is it's close proximity to the offices so lunch is an option if you want to walk an explore it on your own.
The worst casino I’ve ever experienced in my life. They take $1 for every blackjack bet. I sat at 3 tables and did not win 1 single hand!! I’m from Las Vegas! No slot machines!! 95% of the staff is rude!
If you want to just waste money perfect place not one person wins at this place be advised it is only for looks good place for a drink and food but not gambling 10 out of 10 you go home broke
This place is great during happy hour (9-11pm) Most appetizers and drinks are half off till 11pm. Tge staff is great, just remember to tip graciously! And you will party like a rock star!
Dealers are sloppy and they took money off of my stack when the hand was over and justified it by looking at the security tape. There is no accountability for the dealer mistakes
This is a great place to eat the food is really good and the prices are very affordable. Gambling is good here too. The staff are really polite and they take care of you
Good casino for the few hours, they have jackpot for poker but too many regulars are there. Over all good place to spend time. Food is really good and cheap
Everything I've had here is delicious. Great happy hour and service is always great! Especially love Matthew on late shift Sunday. His energy is amazing!
Foods there are really good. Also the price is affordable. The casino is very small comparing to casinos in Las Vegas, but it's nice to visit again.
Menu in their sports bar has something for everyone. Reasonably priced. $5 well drinks for happy hour are very good and they kept us coming back.
Had dinner with my son and watched sports on the big screens. Great food and time. Happy hour is a deal. Definitely going back.
Chocolate infused old fashioned was bomb. We ate at the sports bar. A lot of things to chose from, varied menu, and many TV's.
Good food, the sushi was awesome. Wasn't packed. The staff there are very friendly. I had a good time grabbing lunch there.
Love the food & bar here. Great selection, fair prices. Keeps me coming back. Game room is pleasant. Great place to play.
I went to the restaurant on Sunday morning and there was alot of football fans watching the games. Very nice atmosphere.
Great place to spend some time, lunch for sure. Ask for the liquid lunch, includes alcoholic beverage, steak and side.
I really enjoyed the food we order and forgot to take pics. Also they have great drinks. Nice aviance will visit soon
Very well run…. Dirty chips unfortunately…. Friendly players. Vegas style floor big bar and decent food and service.
Ate at the restaurant. EXCELLENT FOOD and SERVICE. Happy Hour offerings and prices were outstanding.
The diner/sports bar has lots on the menu to choose from. Enjoyed a tasty breakfast plate for lunch.
Best sports Bar Around! Great menu with a variety of food. Food was good, definitely coming back!.
We went there to eat. We ate at the Lotus, it was sooooo delicious!!! I will go back for sure!!!
Friendly staff. Ticket times on food need to be faster and not waiting for a long period of time
Even if there are more than 20ppl waiting for $1/2/3, they will still not open new tables.
It's a clean, quiet place. The staff are friendly and service is quick, food is excellent.
Trying out this bar and grill. Service was fast and received dinner before our cocktails
Nice casino for poker, blackjack, 3-card poker and Baccarat. Very busy on the weekends.
Very attentive bar tender at the sports lounge late at night. Amazing Buffalo wings!
Food was great! Lots of options and the portions last you several meals.
Gambling is good, need different table games. Fired rice is excellent
Food is great and a lot of action. Patience is a virtue here
Happy hour is nice good food great drinks
