I had a fracture in my arm in Montreal on Dec 3rd. I returned on the 7 and saw my family Dr. who sent a request to this Cast Clinic to follow up with a specialist. The referral was denied because it was not from an orthopaedic doctor. My family dr advised me to go to emergency. I went to the Foothill Hospital Emergency on Dec 12. I waited 8 hrs to see a dr. I got an X-ray and I was told that I will get a phone call from the Cast Clinic before Dec 15, and I will be seen for sure before Christmas. Finally I received a phone call on Dec 19 and I was booked for January 5. I insisted to see the Doctor earlier, but I was told that it was not possible because of the holidays and he was going on vacation. (I found this outrageous that the clinic doesn’t have any other dr as a backup when. a Dr is on vacation or any other reason) Just before Christmas the appointment was changed for January 3. Today, Dec 27, I received another phone call to change the appointment to January 15. I told the lady that called, that I didn’t want to wait so long, and that I would prefer to cancel the appointment and go to the emergency room. She said that was a good idea, and canceled the appointment. I don’t understand this back and forth. No dr has followed up on my fracture no dr has ordered a new X-ray to follow up. Feels like a joke.
Been 9 months since my car accident.. it was a really bad one. They said they might have to amputate my right leg, they then performed an ORIF(open reduction internal fixation) emergency surgery which saved my leg. I was diagnosed with compartment syndrome & then they had to do a skin graph to cover the open chuncks or flesh on my leg. It's a work of art if you ask me. Dr. Powell, Dr. Dodd thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am forever grateful and thankful for all the staffs, Doctors and surgeons that went on board in my journey. I am beyond amazed at how well I am currently doing.. they told me it would take a lot of physiotherapy and exercise on my part to recover.. they said it would take a year to 2 to fully recover, to walk and run again. That's the goal.. At 5 months, I was already able to walk without my walker. 6months, fully got rid of my wheelchair, toilet aid and walker. Was on crutches on since December 2020. Follow up this summer and will give an update.
Dr. Martin is truly amazing at his craft! I had a nice wipe out at Lake Louise just over two weeks ago and broke my humerus. Lucky for me (and everyone else who had a ski/snowboarding accident) he happened to be working at Banff Springs Hospital that weekend. He was able to get me in for surgery less than 24 hours after the accident. I just got home from the Foothills Hospital Cast Clinic where I had my 2 week follow up with Dr. Martin. I am so happy! We removed the bandages, and to my surprise the incision was so clean! Litterly a perfect straight line (it's hardly noticeable after only 2 weeks!) I was worried I was going to have a crazy scar, but this... this is somone who knows what they are doing! If you have the unlucky honor of breaking or fracturing something, be honored if you find out Dr. Martin is doing your surgery! He is a true Rockstar!
Show up for an appointment for 11 am, after minor thumb injury at the minor surgery office, but to check in I must proceed to the cast and hand across the hall. I stood in front to check in, there were 3 person there talking away with each other not acknowledging I was standing there, they saw me as I was walking in, stood there for at least 2 min. I wasn't getting service, I said out loud if this is the place to check. Then this young RUDE receptionist (only a receptionist who think because she works at a hospital she knows everything ( ha ha). Avoid this RUDE receptionist.
Very rude customer service. I had a broken leg and I had to go to the clinic once a week to x-ray for it. Whenever I walk in I had to wait 10 minutes front of the front disk just to check in, and the receptionist is pretending she busy and when I asked to sit down on the chair in mean while until she can call my name, she freaked out on me the said i have to wait for until she done, and I can burly stand still using my crutches. Blaming it on the protocol and the how how the procedure is. Rude, not friendly, always you feel the are not happy with themselves.
Other than this one receptionist, the staff were helpful and kind. This particular receptionist was very vocal about her opinions pertaining to bringing my daughter with me. This particular receptionist made it very clear that due to Covid, she doesn't want to see my baby with me. I wasn't informed beforehand that I could not bring my daughter with me. This receptionist spoke to me as if I should of known this fact. As a forewarning for those with children, if they see a patient with children they will cancel your appointment and will need to reschedule.
I was getting desperate because the cas I was using was making uncomfortable to the point I wasn't sleeping anymore. I called the clinic at the Foothills Medical Centre and I was attended by Denise, a ortophedic tech. She was extremely kind, took the cast off, checked carefully my ankle and chose to move from cast to air boot. Before that, she asked a doctor to check the overall condition of my foot in order to ensure the best for me. Very caring and knowledgeable. Thank you Denise!!
I have been here a few times now. Was in a motorcycle accident, spent over 3 months in the hospital. I’m 5 months since the accident and jus starting to walk again a bit now. I find the doctors are quite good. They go over the X-rays with you. Explain things well. No complaints. The admin staff are nice and always pleasurable. There’s a guy named Loyd who works there. I can’t say enough good things about him. He’s awesome!
I was referred by the foothills emergency to make an appointment, no referral was provided to the clinic so no appointment and I'm left now with no solution to a fractured arm. Now I understand why so many are losing trust in the health care system. When employees can't relay information properly especially when it comes to health, that is beyond ethical in this industry.
Receptionists are dense. Didn’t leave a time on my voicemail and then gaslit me about it. When I showed up with my left leg in an air cast one of them looked me dead in the face and said so it’s for your left arm right? Nurse ran down the hall ahead of us so we had to chase him to the room and then proceeded to X-ray the wrong part of my broken leg.
Lisa who puts casts on and removes them is so unprofessional and has no regard for people who struggle with this process. The least empathetic human I have met in my life. Absolutely disgusting personality and energy. We wish there was another location we could visit.
Doctors are upfront and honest. Seen Dr schindler and her college about a complete distal bicep tare. They advised me it would be a painful and long recovery. They also, told me that due to the degree of damage. I may not even get full use back.
Always a very busy place and the appointments are never on time. Book early as you will be waiting a very long time, and once you are in the exam room you'll wait some more. But, the people are nice and the office is clean.
Staff is super helpful and compassionate. They are efficient and willing to answer any questions you have.
Shows cast clinic on the road (16 Ave) to be exact. Can't be correct.
Harmony has to be the best nurse EVER..
