Cathédrale du Sacré-Cœur d'Alger (Sacred Heart Cathedral of Algiers) is a Roman Catholic church located in Algiers, Algeria. Completed in 1956, it became the new cathedral in the capital after the Cathedral of Saint Philip of Algiers reconverted into a Muslim Ketchaoua Mosque.[1] The Cathédrale du Sacré-Cœur d'Alger is the cathedral church of the Archdiocese of Algiers. It was elevated to a cathedral in December 1962 and consecrated in 1963. The designers of the building, Paul Herbé and Jean Le Couteur,[2] along with engineer René Sarger,[3] were inspired by the Gospel of John. Its nave measures 52 metres (171 feet) long and 35 metres (115 feet) wide. The church is noted for its central tower.[3] At the entrance to the nave there are small organs offered by the parish of Boufarik opposite which is a mosaic. The mural dates to 324, from the first Roman basilica of Castellum Tingitanum (Chlef).[4] The altar is made of Carrara marble, and houses the relics of numerous African saints.

كاتدرائية القلب المقدس: ليوم تحكيلكم ميراث على كاتدرائية القلب المقدس. جاية في قلب الجزائر العاصمة، وهي كاتدرائية رومانية كاثوليكية، بدات تحتضن ابرشة الجزاير، بعدما تم تحويل كاتدرائية القديس فيليب لجامع كتشاوة. في الأصل، كانت كنيسة بدات تتبنى سنة 1944 برغبة من المطران لينود، على انها تكون "مونمارتر الجزائر". لينود اختار هذاك المكان بالذات، لانو كانت تقع فيه كنيسة صغيرة و مدرسة افتتحتها "سيدات القلب المقدس" -مونمارتر باريس- لي تغلقت في بدايات القلب العشرين لاسباب سياسية. هذيك الكنيسة تم تأدية اول صلاة فيها يوم 5 اوت 1856. بش يختاروا تصميم المعماري اللازم، تم عمل مسابقة تقدم فيها العديد من المعماريين بتصاميمهم. مع اللخر، تحصل "بول ايربي" و "جون لو كوتور" على الموافقة.مرافقهم المهندس "رينيه سيرجير"، تم استوحاء التصميم من إنجيل يوحنا. اسم "القلب المقدس" جاي طبعًا من كنيسة القلب المقدس في باريس، بصح الحاجة لي تميز "القلب المقدس" نتع دزاير، هي انو كي تخرز من وسط الأعمدة في الداخل، و تنظر للأعلى في وسط القبة بالضبط، يظهرلك شكل قلب كبير يدخل منه الضو. بصح هذي حكاية اخرى لرسمة اخرى.

The Church of the Sacred Heart, built by the French engineer Le Corbusier between 1958-1962, at the top of Didouche Mourad Street, and the Church of Our Lady of Africa, above the Bologne district, built in the middle of the nineteenth century, are considered the most important churches in the city. There are churches that are equal in size and importance in the country's major cities, such as Annaba and Oran. These two churches belong to two different architectural styles, which have been reworked and restored in recent years, and they work full time starting at 10 am. The Church of the Sacred Heart is distinguished by its large chimney-like shape and functional architecture, but it does not have a scenic external view like the “African Lady”, overlooking the west of the city center, and the famous Bab El Oued neighborhood with the sea beneath it.

تُعتبر كنيسة "القلب المُقدس" المبنية من قبل المهندس الفرنسي لو كوربيزييه Le Corbusier بين عامي 1958-1962، في أعلى شارع ديدوش مراد، وكنيسة "السيّدة الإفريقية" أعلى حي بولوغين، المبنية في منتصف القرن التاسع عشر، من أهم الكنائس في المدينة. وتقابلها كنائس توازيها في المساحة والأهمية في مدن البلاد الكبرى، مثل عنابة ووهران. هاتان الكنيستان تنتميان إلى نمطين معماريين مختلفين، أعيد العمل عليهما وترميمهما في السنوات الأخيرة، وتعملان بدوام كامل يبدأ من العاشرة صباحاً. تتميّز كنيسة "القلب المقدّس" بشكلها الذي يُشبه مِدخنة كبيرة ومعمارها الوظيفي، لكنها لا تتمتع برؤية خارجية خلاّبة مثل "السّيدة الافريقية"، المطلّة على غرب وسط المدينة، وحي باب الواد المشهور ومن تحته البحر.

#كاتدرائية القلب المقدس Sacred Heart هي عبارة عن كنيسة كاثوليكية رومانية وتعتبر من أهم المعالم الجاذبة للسياح في مدينة الجزائر الرائعة. اكتمل بناء كاتدرائية القلب المقدس عام 1944م، وهي ذات طابع معماري فريد مستوحى من إنجيل يوحنا من قبل 3 مصممين مهرة. عند زيارتها ستتمكن من رؤية هيكلها الخارجي الذي يتّخذ شكل الخيمة، وقد شيُّدت بهذا الشكل من أجل حماية كل من يدخلها من أشعة الشمس الحارة. كما تمتاز ببرجها ذي المقصورات التي تسمح بدخول الضوء إليها، كما تضم مكتبة كبيرة خاصة بها والعديد من التماثيل

I loved the architecture here. It's nothing like you'd expect when you hear the word "cathedral", and i think that gives it a charm unlike any other. The lady at the reception was very lovely and the atmosphere is serene. I advise everyone to visit this cathedral at least once in their lives.

The access is hidden and usually closed. You need to push the button of the interphone and they will open to you. It looks like a nuclear plant. Gilles, the doorkeeper will make you visit the church. It is usually visit and it is full just during the holy days.

A sacred place full of history and culture with a mind blowing architecture. It gives you goosebumps once your foot steps in.The people there are very welcoming and kind .Literally one of the most beautiful plcaes in algiers .I strongly recommend it .

A stunning, unforgettable place. Unfortunately it isn't particularly easy to get in, and information is hard to find. I was able to get in on a Saturday after having no luck during the week. The architecture is amazing.

Enter from the big gate, you will find two tourist guides. They speak French and Arabic. They will show you around the place and are ready to answer all of your questions. You can buy flyers and donate money in there.

It is seperetad from the other churches by its architecture. It looks like a cooling tower of a power plant was turned into a church. As other people mentioned; church is closed generally.

Sacred hear cathedral is a magical place, its architecture is rare and unique, calm and serenity is what you find inside the cathedral, it is full of history and statues, visit it !

Closed a Sunday morning, no info or worship time, building looks like a nuclear power point station, just horrible, nobody is apparently working there, disgusted

Wonderful place , I love the staff their so kind and the place is so beautiful and feels different it was nice visiting it and the opening time is so accurate

Looks like soviet factory building. Not compatible with surrounding historical buildings around. Also why they have very small cross!?

ضننتها من بعيد مبرد مفاعل نووي لاكن تفاجات بوجود كنيسة ⛪من العصر الفارط في قلب العاصمة ولم تقفل
