I loved walking along the canal. It was kind of an early in the morning so not many businesses were open but it was very beautiful and Serene. They do have gondolas and a boat Cruise along the canal and also pedal boats and kayaks. I found the prices to be a little high but not extreme. Nevertheless, I'm from San Diego where everything is expensive but I thought $38 an hour was a little pricey for a pedal boat rental. Also a gondola ride was upwards of $160. I wasn't really looking for a bargain but that seems a little extreme. all-in-all if you stay away from the pricey then there's the canal is a wonderful place to visit.
This place is so clean! It's full of life even in March. Ducks and various birds mingle with butterflies and early spring flowers. The sculpture garden is an added benefit, as are the various waterfalls that can be sat at while you contemplate our oneness with nature. Probably the cleanest park and canal I have ever seen in.

The Central Canal in Downtown Indy is beautiful. Along the CC you can take walks, ride your bicycles, jog, ride paddleboats, relax, eat at restaurants along the waterfront, and even take pictures. You want picturesque views, and want beautiful pictures the Central Canal is the place to be. I highly suggest checking it out! :-)
A nice relaxing place to go for a walk. It can get a little crowded in this area sometimes so it’s not the best for jogging. Sometimes they dye the water in the canal different colors for special events and that is fun. I like to watch the people go by in the rentable paddle boats that you can take down the canal.
I love that the canal walk is in the middle of Indy downtown and I am amazed by other attractions like museums, state parks or zoo that any tourist can visit from one to the next. You will see a lot of walkers and joggers around the area. You can enjoy some canoe or swan rides as well. I totally love this place.
By far the best hidden gem in greater downtown. Water fountains & falls, bridges of iron & stone, art, architecture, fish, paddle boats, gondola rides, mammoths & war memorials, open green fields, amphitheaters of grass & stone facing wide river bends, walkers and skaters, joggers and bikers.
Great walk with my wife down the canal. What a way to enjoy the city and an afternoon. We didn't do any paddle boats or anything, but it would be fun to do. We would also be interested in evening Gondala rides. Nice area to relax, walk, jog, walk the dog, or paddle the canal.
Whether you're looking for a scenic spot to jog, walk, or spend time with that special someone.. the canal definitely should be on your bucket list. This is perhaps one of my favorite parts of our city. Try going after dinner, the crowds are quieter and more diverse.
Such an amazing place , very nice views , nice environment and gr8 place for a walk , run or ride. You can rent a bike , pedal or a kayak with reasonable prices Lots of restaurants and coffee shops available along the canal Many cultural centers are available too
Great place to walk around. It's very scenic and there are several places to visit our you can rent a paddle boat and ride on the canal. Also a great place for photos. So many colors and textures make it good for family photos or senior pictures. More
Great space to walk and enjoy the various activities. Free to walk but there are some other activities available through the warmer months that cost money.

Really enjoyed stopping here and taking in the scenery. Didn't have the time to rent a kayak, but I think next time I'm here I gotta fit it in. Did see a couple people out on them. This makes a really awesome spot and activity for the city.
The canal is stagnant right now so it's building up algae. There are frequent smokers in the area and homeless. The northern section is nicer and the end at the park is nice. Some of the bridges are crumbling and need some upkeep.
It was a nice walk but there was nothing going on. No food options or activities. I expected more to do and locations to get food. It was April and it looks like the attractions don't open until May so that was disappointing.
Beautiful area with lots of development. Do yourself a favor and rent a bike at the canal's beginning or just walk the length and back casually. Great place next to museums, can easily join together to make a full afternoon.
A gorgeous place to spend a few hours either on a boat or walking the canal. There is art, sculptures, and history all along the canal. Walking at night is much more beautiful with all the lights accenting the canal.
A great place to take a nice walk. If you see this guy walking around selling drinks from his cooler buy one. He's been thru a big struggle. He's inspiring and has a true uplifting look on life. His name is Dave.
Absolutely beautiful place to take the family for a walk. We were very surprised at how nice the walking paths were and the amount of shade trees throughout was very nice. We're going back tomorrow morning!
It was a nice place to walk, clean with places to sit along the way. Park at the state park lot and then it's a short walk to the canal. Bike rental nearby, paddle boat rental is further down the canal.
I absolutely encourage everyone to visit the down town canal. There are beautiful people, beautiful scenery but the main attractions have to be the canaligators. They are a very majestic creature.
Beautiful walk in downtown area. HS newer or renovated buildings all around, it’s a great place for a relaxing evening walk after a stressful day. A must see place when visiting Indianapolis.
The canal is very pretty, at least in most places near the downtown center of Indianapolis.

There is a unique playground. It small but looks fun.
Restrooms
Did not see any in our walk.
Maybe my favorite thing to do in Indy. The walk along the historic canal is very peaceful and relaxing. Nearby are several nice museums. Boats and bikes are available for rent.
Always love to walk the canal. Great place to think, relax, take photos, walk (and if so inclined, bike, jog, paddle boat, kayak, gondola ride, etc.).
Great place to walk, people watch, and enjoy the nice weather!

Love visiting the canal on St. Patrick's Day and my dogs love to watch the ducks! Saw a gorgeous white one today. Kept clean and relaxing.
Great for walks late into the evening! Fun to see a safe walkway at night in a metropolitan area. Really fine people and a must see site!
It's fun to walk and see all the beautiful flowers and places you can go and get an idea of places for what you want to do the next time
A nice place in downtown Indy to take a stroll, bike ride, or paddle boat. It is safe with a variety of art and architecture to look at.
The walk around the canal at night was beautiful! Definitely recommend for something to do if you're downtown and have some free time

I like this place, it's quite beautiful, designed based on City Vanice, I guess. Log walk or long paddle boat, or cycling.
It's a nice area for a stroll. Plenty of art around. You can rent kayaks, paddle boats, bikes and other forms of exercise.
I love walking around at night when all the lights are on it's so beautiful. There are so many different things to see

This is a good place for a walk. Plenty of area to have some festivities, although we did not see any.
Needs porta potties, that's why I did a 4 star. I've seen so many guys peeing along the canal.
Great place to see the skyline, and I really enjoyed the individual Indiana counties artwork.
Smokers that work for the state make it unpleasant. You have to walk through clouds of smoke.
We finally made it to the last outdoor concert of the season & it was a perfect date night!
Never been to such a beautiful and serene place before. I loved everything about it …
One of must place to visit, during St.Patrick's day, they change the water to green color.
When we came to visit Indy, people told us to check out the canal. It was a nice walk.
On a nice day, it's a nice walk.
