"I love the Central Library"
"It's more than just a library"
"Such a fantastic resource"
"This library is very loud, is a library not supposed to be quiet"
"Anyone that has an interest in our great authors or our colorful history should keep The Central Library first and foremost in mind, Kurt and Nono very helpful good staff"
I love the Central Library. Filled with a large variety of books and online resources. The staff is great, but not necessarily all of them. The operating hours are very much accommodating. If you aren't originally Capetonian, it isn't an easy process getting a patrons card. Although getting the card does guarantee you great access to all resources from all CoCT libraries.
It's more than just a library. The upper level hosts a detailed museum of South Africa's past. From the first mail system used to the liberation movements. 6 is also a section on the coronation badges and a complete section on Nelson Mandela. I was with a tour guide, so I'm not sure what the entry cost was . But a walk about tour of Cape Town is a must.
Such a fantastic resource. One could spend the whole day reading, or take out a book and read at the comfort of your home. In all cases, you can find a wide range of books, from fiction to self help, to stems and the arts. I would highly recommend anyone to check out the library and it's warm friendly staff.
This library is very loud, is a library not supposed to be quiet. Signs to not use cellphones but the staff are very loud and clearly on the phone. If there's a maintenance in the quiet area create another area to use, this is an inconvenience. Definitely not a place to go if you need to study...
Anyone that has an interest in our great authors or our colorful history should keep The Central Library first and foremost in mind, Kurt and Nono very helpful good staff. Polite and with smiles. Loved the place. Clean and comfortable.
In a very sad state. Pictures torn and cut out of books, no proper reading room, study area is noisy, bad lighting, dull and uninspiring interiors, generic office carpets throughout.... I expected more from the city's main library.
The library is very accommodating and comfortable. I could go everyday there. The staff and security are very nice beings. But can't we get an eating area pleassssse, because people stay long hrs in there reading and writing.
I opened my library card today and is was a very pleasant experience, the librarian was very friendly very helpful. He even went above and beyond the call of duty to inform me on something he didnt have to. Very professional.
No working toilet facilities - not ideal because I took my 3 year old for her first library visit and had to leave the library to look for a bathroom. Study section not very quiet - people on voice and video calls were very
I had a great experience at the library. It is a good library, with a large book section. It would be good to add a water refilling station where people can get water while they read or study at the library during the day.
The library is clean ; quiet and accomodating for a focussed reader. It has separate sections for different fields like art library. It is a public place to use.
If it's ever cols and raining and you would like to visit the library, don't... they'll tell you to take it off, but they don't have any heaters to keep you warm
I went there with my bicycle and they wouldn't allow me inside with it. Sorry guys the way you brush me aside didn't go down well. Hope my next visit is better
Beautiful library. Huge selection of books has a music and art section. And computer section. A children's section and young adults section
The staff always go above and beyond when I have a enquiry. ALWAYS courteous and helpful. Even security is professional and polite.
The second best library in town. ❤️ loved it here throughout my years of study in the CBD.
This is so much more than just a library, it is a work of art! I love this place so much!
Attentive, good atmosphere, clean and friendly staff
It was good. A bit noisy but it was clean and tidy.
